Man, if we weren't battling on the side of a cliff with Orthros tied to Nathan with a 1 meter rope, this would be the PERFECT opportunity to use a full-powered Beat Up...

And as Windos and I have seen in the Celadon campaign, that hurts. A LOT. Orthros might not have STAB on it, but do you really need it when you have an 8 power move? (Well, technically, it's 4 characters all using a 2 power dark move simultaneously, but that's still rather useful if the helper pokemon don't have anything better to use since you're unloading all that damage at the same time.)

Because it's based on Survival, partly. But also just the cruel fate of the dice!

Don't worry.  After You is gonna remedy that for Clauncher right quick.

But yeah, raise your Dex and Survival both if you want to boost your initiative.  Nathan has 4 Dex (6 with Tailwind) and 3 Survival, so he gets a BIG initiative boost (and Calam and Zippy have surprises that give them even bigger boosts).  Having that much Dex also helps a ton with accuracy rolls.  Those are two of the reasons Nathan's so dang good at combat.

Well, I already have 3 in Dex so my I know now what it will be the next stat to be raised. Since its just 1 I gonna raise that one.

Can I try to use a Potion to heal Ventus Pokemon?

I'm going to say no in this case, because a) things are happening so fast b) you didn't ready it c) It's a vertical battle.

You'd have to declare a potion at the beginning of a round to be able to use it in these circumstances.

You can use one in Round 2 though, even on someone else's Pokemon.
