[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

That's what the 'voice' called it, or something along those lines.

Ventus destroyed the den because of his own personal fears/paranoia, even though doing so helped nothing and nobody but himself.  Nature itself opposed him, he knew how much Shiva respected the spot, that it was Braixen's home (before Shiva caught him)...and he did it anyways. And now he has to live with the consequences.

Not so much as personal satisfaction, but more because he viewed destroying Fireweed Den , a location/place heavily connected and influenced by 'magical/the arcane' , as both right and correct thing to do, as doing so it would prevent others from being influenced/affected by its 'magics' ,remove a foul magical location that is polluting/corrupting the world with its mere presence , and get rid of a place that would draw in OTHER magical/arcane beings of dubious alignment.

He did GREATLY enjoy destroying the place, however, but that's more of a bonus to a job 'well done' in his opinon.

Dragonstrike also makes a good point that Ven was paranoid/fearful enough of the place that he also just wanted it destroyed to alleviate those negative feelings, but that's more underlying feelings rather than overt big reasons for razing the Den to the ground.

Well, in this case I cant blame Delphox to hate Ventus in this. If someone would put fire in my house and destroy the place who I live for many years I too would be a lot piss off. And there is the Pokemon who lost their home, and perhaps even died. And if Ventus helps some people (with I dubious) Ventus too ruined many other pokemon lifes.

Lololololol, everything happened because Shiva enjoyed the idea to revisit this place with Ventus, as she felt very relaxed and empowered there. Was a mistake in the end, but no point to wince about it.

Braixen, he's not yet a Delphox. Eventually he'll be, and have the role of Shiva's furry and firely mage! [Image: tumblr_nl92ow7nKC1rd4ymxo1_500.gif]

Ventus didn't just burn it to the ground.  He collapsed the den with Magnitude, burned what was left, coated it in acid, and then burned it again.  It's going to take a looooonnnngggg time for ANYTHING to live there ever again...

No pokemon died, thankfully (they ALL fled the scene when Ventus made his less than good-willed intentions clear, and the forest guardians turned into a bunch of leaves when they were fainted).  However, Ventus's phobia makes it rather difficult to like him in this campaign, since it's a topic that CONSTANTLY comes up, and it often causes more trouble than actually helping.  And Ventus refuses to budge on it (or most any of his opinions, for that matter), period, even if he's clearly in the wrong or not thinking completely logically.

It's been a problem since the start of the campaign, and I'm just going to be blunt: it's my least favorite part of Ventus's character.

I don't feel like it comes up 'constantly', really, and not counting the Deyo Flowers it's mostly a thing that only affects him. A real phobia is nothing to be taken lightly either i.a. as they're classified as mental illness, there is barely any logic behind those, that makes them different from 'fears' who often have a real and comprehensible reason behind that makes one fear. Budging isn't much of an option.

My character was thorough in making sure that the Den wasn't going to be a problem EVER again! He's very much a fan of 'Scorched Earth' and 'Salting Carthus' options, don't you know!

Yeah, but at the same time Ven is conscious of his phobia/paranioa and the problems it causes by now, and tries to minimize it and/or make compromises even if he doesn't necessarily want to. For example he compromised on the Deyos, he perfectly accepts Shiva despite her magical/fae tendacies/interests, is quite tolerant and understanding of the most of the myths and legends surrounding Cheshire, being tolerant towards Orthros even though he strongly disagree with keeping it, and right now removing himself from the conversation to prevent problems. Point is, even if its a sticking point that comes up every so often in the campaign, Ventus is honestly TRYING to be less bothersome with it for the group's shake, even if he's not entirely successful.

Plus, that paranioa comes in handy for keeping him sharp for danger/alert for such things, (as demonstrated in the Scimitar base) and provides more than enough motivation to be the group's protector whenever possible. That, and such paranioa and fear stems from a EXTREMELY traumatizing events in his life, on top of a life of hardship and doing dubious things, so its somewhat sympathetic/understandable why he acts like he does. Also, as Phantom pointed out, having a legitimate phobia over Fairy types/Magical stuff is fairly serious problem for him that can't be purely reasoned or logiced out of existence, so there is that as well. The fact that he can still have pleasant and tolerable interactions DESPITE his phobia and can control it to an extent speaks strongly to his inner strength and character, imo...

Finally, while Ven's phobia/hatread of all thing magical is a bugbear, its only an occasional/rare one that can be managed readily with foresight and preparation on my part , so I don't think its a HUGE problem/annoyance at this point in time. At least, that is what I think anyways.

Indeed, I feel the fact that he developed a close bond with/protectiveness over/feelings for Shiva who just screams 'Magic! Fairies!! Mystic!!!' speaks a lot for itself!~

I think its thats one of the reasons I like so much to ship Shiva and Ventus. They are two sides of the same coin: One is logic and science (Ventus) and the other have conction with nature and magic (Shiva). They are opositives, but they get along very well with each other. Thats why I think they made a great couple :3
