[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Huuuuh, how weird. These Entries for Tandorian Pokemon are a little different than Shiva may have expected - though actually, she wasn't qiute sure by herself what she has 'expected' - seems like someonelse or a different sector of the Almanac has written them. Besides, she did notice how the vendor was not only visibly happy over upgrading her 'Dex', but also didn't call it a 'Dex' at all - hmm, maybe Shiva herself has to develop this habit too and simply call her Not-Dex an 'Almanac'. Nice ring.

Baashaun, with it's wool as black as the night has already reminded her on a different Pokemon from a currently far away region she knew of when she bought that batch of wool for these stealthy-enhancing boots, but after reading that Entry they seemed very very different. Both made her shiver though, for a different reason.
Nope, Shiva won't contact her local distrubutor concerning her Comite, as she prefers to keep that astral rock. How a Cometeor uses it's psychic powers (for a moment, Shiva went 'Awww! Psychic powers! <3') to communicate with others of it's kind, probably located in Tandor or - mind you - in SPACE. This excited her greatly.
Nucleon though... fascinated her from the first time she saw its picture in the Almanac, after Torch Singh has told her about it way back. It looked a little creepy with its three eyes and weirdly detatched tail and ears, and its connection to...Nuclear energy?! caused her to read the Entry three times and frown everytime... Sounded more toxic than poison, but if it was confirmed that it's safe to be around and is completely loyal - means, it doesn't emit, say harmful radiation, right? Phew... It's unparalelled offensive skills made her wonder too, what did that mean? Hmm.

Ehm, well then, enough pondering about Tandor and these classes in Nuclear Type Torch also hinted towards her, the Shelter awaited Shiva for today!~ Tomorrow will be the day, tomorrow will she be able to register Gothitelle to one of her Pokeballs - ah, she already knew to which one. Before she left the Department Store however, she bought one of these frisbees on sale (0$) in a nice bluish black color (adding to Inventory) and a small portion of watermelon (0$) as well. That one was for Nightshade to eat up along the way to the Shelter, as on such a sunny day she wanted to make sure her sweet cherrylike Pokemon was well hydrated. She can stay with Tropius on the green roof while Shiva's busy for today too, if she likes.

Along the way to the Shelter, Shiva also had some quiet fun to have Yena and Braixen chase after that frisbee she threw for them, sometimes Cottonee even joined and hit or changed that thing's flight path with a Fairy Wind, much to the amusement of her Master when they all saw Yena barking after that flying 'prey'. When got a hold of the frisbee though, Shiva noticed that he - contrary to what she thought at first - was not biting harder, but he managed to successfully catch the frisbee even from little distance... What was that, she highly wondered? Has he silently and unaware of Shiva trained himself to get so close to a 'foe' to bite them better, what has he learned since he lost against that.....deltadog? Could it be that latent energy Ventus once told her about, did he decided not to hold back anymore....? Hmm, eventually she'll find out, for sure. (20xp are spent on Special Poochyena. Any more he'll get go straight into speeding up his evolution.) Braixen, as Shiva noticed, was fine mostly watching the scene and silently making sure his Master was alright as she seemed...to greatly appreciate that protectiveness from her magical fox, and since Ven was not present, he gladly took that place. Sometimes, Braixen had fun startling up a group of (whatever birdlike Pokemon take the place of pidgeons in a real city for) by jumping right into them after sneaking up on them all fox-like, giving out a proud howl evertime the birds flew away in shock. Once or twice, Shiva even got him to to snatch after the frisbee too.
(I don't know if you want to count this as a playful training for these three Pokemon of mine, Iron, especially since I'd like to have a battle after the work at the Shelter. I've designed this as a bonding experience in the first place, up to you in the end.)

Hafter having arrived at the Shelter, both Cottonee and Yena got withdrawn into their Pokeballs, but Braixens stays outside as Shiva greeted Director North for today and informed him that Ventus is busy for today and will arrive later, if at all before awaiting what her task for today will be.

Dagny wheels into the lobby of her Gym as you enter. "Hello Nathan. I thought I would come out personally to prep you on the rules for my gym badge battle, though I will need a moment alone to prepare, as I'm sure you will also appreciate. Normally a secretary does this."

"I perform 3v3 1 on 1 Pokemon battles. Switching is allowed as normal within League rules. A Pokemon can continue until it forfeits or finds itself unable to continue. You may bring six Pokemon with you but once you send in your third Pokemon, that is your team. Nothing unusual here."

"I am very open minded about item usage, but there were complaints that Potions combined with the Steel typing make for unpleasant battles. Therefore, I amended my rules so that no wound-healing items are allowed on either side. Any number of other items are allowed, but only one usable item per round of battle. Held items are fine, including non-League-approved items. If you're unfamiliar with these, they are normally recovered from the days of Sarimanok and have unusual effects. I don't mind those."

"You are permitted to command your Pokemon to do anything, including Lethal moves if it somehow helps you win. Purposely slaying my Pokemon is not allowed, obviously, as that would be a crime. I hold back the Lethal moves in my arsenal. However, the trainer must stay out of the battle, aside from commands and items."

"The battle takes place in my Steel Arena. Spectators are separated by bulletpunchproof glass. Trainers have a smaller booth in which they may take shelter."

"Any questions? Help yourself to the PC."

(Since I will not able to witness the battle, I hope I can other things)

Heart was thinking if it is a good idea to buy that TMs. 3000 Pokedollar its a fair price with so good TMs but with the money he currently have...its better save for any emergency. Instead Heart buy 2 Burn Heal (never know when you might need) and one Great Ball. "That is 1100 in total...3150 In count. Its good I guess. Must remember find a job in Cress City when got the chance." Then Heart see Shiva lurking around the Departament Store. He wave his hand to her. "Hey Shiva. Whats up?"

(Huh, I thought you wanted to watch Nathan's Gym Battle too? Eh, nevermind, then not.)

Given that Shiva was about to get lost in thought and didn't really count on seeing Heart, she impercibly flinched away as she heard him greeting her. True, he was barely ever there in the Lobby in the mornings, 'either he usually gets us reeeeally early and they miss him because he's already outside, or he slept reeeeally long and he's still up in dorm when they leave the Center', she thought - not that she really minded though... Cottonee immediately floated over to place herself on her Master's right shoulder to comfort her, Braixen faintly hissed at Heart but got visibly calmer as he noticed he was no harm, Yena just stared up to the PUNisher with a tilted head and the frisbee firmly between his teeth.

Luckily Shiva has put her Almanac away already. "Uhm, yeah, hello, Heart... Nothing's really up, I just bought some stuff here and was about to head to the Shelter then. And you?"

Lethal commands are allowed for the challengers if they're somehow helpful for obtaining victory?!

Whoa...Dagny is even more confident in the bulk of her pokemon than Nathan had expected...

...of course, there's one obvious source of Lethal damage that's helpful in this kind of scenario without being complete overkill...Dagny is probably very prepared for it, though...

"Don't have any of those dusty old items myself.  I do need to swap out one pokemon and maybe some items before we begin.  One question for clarification before I get started on that, though.  Does your no wound healing items rule extend to the hold items as well, or just the trainer used items?"

"Unable to battle" refers to fainting, and Nathan would know that in-character. So Dagny battles until fainting.

"Held items can still heal wounds. That includes something like a Sitrus Berry or Leftovers."

Heart notices the way Braixen hissed to Heart. "Gladly to see you too Braixen. No need to be startle. I just want to talk." Koa come to Heart shoulder and stared a bit to Cottonee. Not in menace way, just ready to protect his Master from the fluffball fairy, Rose was beside Heart and hissed back to Braixen, and Percival  just playing hide and seek a bit with Viktor who was dificult since he simple hide and startle the little armor pokemon. "Guys, guys stop that please. Stop staring Shiva Pokemon please. This is not a staring contest." Then Heart talk with Shiva. "Sorry about that. They are a little overprotective sometimes. Well, I come from the Shellter. I help build some home for a Solrock, Lunatone and Baltoy. It was kinda fun, and learn a few interesting things. Like the information that Solrock and Lunatone was dicovered in Cheshire 9,000 years ago! Long before the discovered in Hoen. Not even I know that before." Heart stops to talk again. Well, I was about to go to the Gym to witness the pokemon battle, but I think its already too late there and problably its already over. So yeah, I kinda stuck with nothing to do. Mind if I join you in the Shellter? I think I will find something to do there."

(Whoops, missed that text.  My bad.)

"Alright then.  Well, I believe we both have some preparations to make.  I'll see you on the battlefield, Steel Wonder."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nathan looks at Forthright while he's making his preparations.  She seemed to be doing fine after having spent a day without him...maybe it'd be okay...

"Remember the PC system?  I think it's about time you paid it a visit.  I'll get you back out as soon as I'm done with the battle though, okay?  I promise it won't be long, and there's lots of friends of mine to keep you company in there in the meantime."

Unless Forthright has obvious, strong objections, she'll be swapped for Yule.  Nathan also gives some of his pokemon some Oran and Sitrus Berries he had in his bag, and uses his Deyo Powder (light) on Orthros.

Preparations now done, Nathan makes his way to the battlefield.  Kirlia's standing next to him for support, as per usual, though the odds of him participating in this battle are...low, to say the least, and that's being generous.

Time to see if Fire pokemon can melt Steel Wonders.  First pokemon on the field is going to be Orthros!  (However, Nathan's side of the battlefield is shrouded in darkness at first due to the Flash Ball's picture, and I don't think Ventus has seen that particular intro yet, so he probably doesn't know Orthros is coming out quite yet...)

By the time the darkness has faded away, Orthros has stopped tasting his tongue and making a face at the bitter medicine.

As the shadows fade away, Dagny's chair rolls forward on its own. Her face is shaded by her hood, but she appears to be staring at her lap. In her hand she has already selected a greyed Pokeball, which crackles with energy in the darkness.

Everyone in the audience (and there are a few random spectators) knows not to mention her condition or draw attention to it in any way. A few of them have been here before and know a little about what's coming. They are excited.

Her chair reaches the Gym Leader's position. That familiar buzzing sound is heard. It intensifies. Then, incredibly, she stands up and casts her cloak away! At each of her joints is a bulbous swelling - these seem to be the source of the buzzing. Many of them crackle like her Pokeball, emitting occasional sparks. And one...one has a little moving screw peeking out of it.

Dagny's limbs are supported by Magnemite.

Dozens of the small electrical Pokemon hold up the Steel Wonder. For something as important to her as a Gym Battle, she will not be faced like a cripple.

She flings her hand forward, and Excadrill appears in the arena! The thin steel coating of the floor cracks under his feet, steel that has already begun sweating where Orthros stands. About half the floor shunts aside, withdrawn into mysterious compartments beneath the gym.

"No sense in wasting time! Your test begins!"

Orthros: (2) + 7 = 9
Excadrill: (2) + 2 Dex + 2 Survival = 6

Gym Leader Dagny vs Nathan Round 1

An All Out Gym Battle: VS Gym Leader! by Emdasche - Pokemon Temporal Oblivion (seems like Dagny's taking this fight with Nathan rather seriously if she's leading with an Excadrill!)

Orthros Howls at the challenge!  (learning it for 4 exp)

"Indeed, Dagny.  Orthros, light 'em up!  Flamethrower, full force!  Be careful if that mole starts burrowing, though!"

NOW Ventus should be able to see both Orthros and how the dog doesn't hesitate to follow Nathan's orders at all. And all in a safe, controlled environment where he's behind bulletpunchproof glass to boot.

Howl
Accuracy: 4 Dex + 3 Fight + 0 Intimidate - 3 Actions = 4 D6
Effect: +1 Strength

Flamethrower x2!
Accuracy: 4 Dex + 3 Fight + 3 Canalize - 4/5 Actions = 6/5 D6
Damage: 4* Strength (3 if Howl fails) + 3 Power + STAB = 8/7 D6 Base
Effect: Burn 2 (1)

Conditional Evasion if Excadrill is about to attack with Dig
4 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Evasion - 4/5 Actions = 5/4 D6
