[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

"I expect you're thinking Magnezone is shiny. It is not."

Gym Leader Dagny vs Nathan Round 3

"I never was one to value such things."

Discharge 1
9 dice, -2 actions = 7d6
(6)(3)(3)(3)(3)(6)(1)
3 Str + 3 power + 1 STAB -3 vit = 4d6
(5)(4)(6)(6) Overkill much?
Orthros passes out. Dagny barely spares him a glance.

"Magnezone is golden because of where he evolved, Nathan. My oldest, most trusted, supportive friend, reborn in the electromagnetic forge of Mount Molten!"

Interesting.

"Fair enough.  Still quite impressive looking, though, if I'm being honest.  Good usage of the Quick Claw, by the way.  Oh, and if you think I'm done with my fire power now that my Houndour has fainted...

Nathan holds up the one Ultra Ball he has on his person.

"...well, you're only half right.  Calam, show 'em what REAL speed is!  Don't need a Quick Claw when you've got some sweet shades, after all!"

Unless Calam's paralyzed and rolls a (1) or a (2) for the initiative, he's guaranteed to outspeed the entirety of Dagny's team with their current initiatives!

Oh, and Nathan's got another Paralyz Heal ready if Calam gets paralyzed.

"Night Slash!" (non-lethal)
Accuracy: 10 base - 3/4/5 = 7/6/5 D6
Damage: 3 Pow + 3 Str + BG + STAB - 5 Def = 3 D6
Effect: 3 successes to crit!  Calam is Nathan's best answer for this magnet, so let's see what happens!

If Calam has leftover actions, he can use Future Sight.
Accuracy: 11 base

"Interesting."

Calam: (6) Hoo baby.

Gym Leader Dagny vs Nathan Round 4

Night Slash 1
(3)(3)(6)(6)(3)(2)(1) Close.
(2)(5)(2) Magnezone takes 1 dmg 9/10hp

Magnet Bomb 1
9 dice - 3 actions = 6d6
(2)(1)(1)(2)(3)(4) Doesn't matter how quickly Calam dodges the fleet of little drones that pour forth from Magnezone, they seek him out anyway!
3 Str + 2 power + 1 STAB -3 = 3d6
(2)(2)(6) Calam takes 1 dmg 6/7hp

Night Slash 2
(6)(5)(2)(5)(5)(5) Calam has been very clever in his dodging of those bombs. He's snuck within striking distance of the golden Magnezone, and comes up with his horn right into its underbelly, tearing a long strip in the steel.
(5)(3)(6)(6)(4) Magnezone takes 4 dmg 5/10hp -2 pain

"Discharge! We need to slow this speed demon!"

Discharge 2
(1)(6)(2)
(3)(5)(2)(4) Calam takes 2 dmg 4/7hp -1 pain
Paralyze: (4)(6)(1) Calam is paralyzed! Nathan of course heals him as he whizzes past, still delighting in outspeeding a Quick Claw electric type.

Night Slash 3
(6)(4)(1)(5)
(5)(6)(3)(4)(2) Magnezone takes 3 dmg 2/10hp -2 pain

Discharge 3
(5)(3)
(1)(1)(5) No damage! But Calam's hair all stands on end, full of static, until he's a black fuzzball.
Paralyze: (6)(5)(4) Calam is paralyzed. (again)

Sandstorm deals 1 dmg to Calam, 3/7hp. Then the storms subside!

Calam has 3hp and paralysis. Magnezone has 2HP.

Rats. He's out of paralysis healing items now.

Oh well. Something as silly as Paralysis wasn't going to slow Calam...much.

"Calam, end this quickly! The practice is paying dividends!" (Leveling Brawl to 3 for 12 exp!)

Night Slash x2
Accuracy: 9 base - 2 Pain - 2/3 Actions = 5/4 D6
Damage and effect: same as before.

Once again, leftover actions can be used on Future Sight.

Gym Leader Dagny vs Nathan Round 5

"It's getting serious..."

Night Slash 1
(2)(5)(5)(1)(3)
(5)(4)(1) Magnezone comes all to pieces as Calam slashes on through. Nathan's Pokemon perks up.

But Magnezone's pieces stay within a few meters of each other, twitching, until suddenly they are drawn together! Magnezone shakes itself, rotates that claw, and confirms that all systems are still functioning!

"Feeling better, Magnezone? Great. 2 Discharges."

Discharge 1
(3)(4)(4)(1)
(1)(6)(2) Calam takes 1 dmg 2/7hp -2 pain.

Night Slash 2
(6)(6)(2)(4) A desperate strike, but a powerful one.
(3)(3)(1)(4)(6) Magnezone faints.

"A close battle, Nathan. A very close battle."

She sends out Excadrill for a last stand!

Once Nathan had departed to greet Dagney and prepared for his ferrocious battle against her, Ventus himself made his way to the Steel Arena stands, lingering around just long enough to her issue the conditions for their and giving the Gym Leader a friend and polite wave. Upon arrival, he released Plusle, Minun, and Michael with a few flicks off his wrist, and found them all a spot to sit/cheer that provided a full view of the battlefield!

The electric mice duo, after the empath quickly explained their purpose in being with him for this occasion, were quite estatic and chipper to be a part of the young trainer's cheerleading squad, as they jumped up and down in the stands and gave them all the outcries of support their little lungs could handle! *Squeek Squeek Squeeeeeeeeek!!!*

The mushroom of champeons, meanwhile, opted to take a seat and cross their arms as they eyed the boy with seriousness and introspectiveness as he tried to glean whatever Fighting Knowledge he could by watching their fight. His last fight against them had been decidedly lopsided , what with them playing every dirty trick in the book and stocking his team full of Psychics to try and mulch them in , but if nothing else it proved they were mean and wily in battle just like his own master! Now its time to see how much his rival's has grown in POWA! since he's last seen them in action, and see if he can't put some of their moves to his own robust use, ORAH!!!

Ventus himself was eager to see what Nathan Pokémon selection and battle strategy he was going to employ in his fight against the Steel Wonder herself, standing tall and wearing an encouraging and affable smile on his face as they sent out their first choice........!

......Until, coming forth from an inky black aura that chilled his very soul, Othros appeared.

In an instant, the sociologist's good cheer was obliterated. His smile was gone, and instead replaced with small, concerned.....and scared frown. His whole posture grew taught and rigid, like a cable stretched to its very to its limit. Most significantly of all, an uneasy air of wariness, hate, distrust, apprehension, negativity, and disbelief now clung tight to the once positive man. All in all, it was a subtle but no less drastic transformation in Ven, and if anyone payed close attention he looked ready to bolt clean for the exit if it wasn't for his responsibility to looking after Shiva's and his own Pokemon.

Still, that didn't stop him from internally, almost painfully balking  at the HORRIFYING and IMPOSSIBLE YET STILL PRESENT BOND BETWEEN THE BOY AND HIS HELLHOUND THAT SHOULD NOT BE!!!

Thankfully, Dagney shocking reveal of using Magnemite as a source of locomotion distracted him juuuuust enough for him to avoid having another panic attack over being forced to confront the reality of Nathan's powerful bond with his pet abomination. 'So THAT was the source of the buzzing I heard from I'ved traded from her 'D' persona! Clever and ingenious, I must say, and a rather impressive display of controlling and/or training her Magnemite to operate in such a way! What else is Dagney capable of, furated away from prying senses such as mine own.....?' the researcher thought, who had by now had fully regained control over his frayed emotions, visciously destroying  the dreadful and fearful miasma that briefly smother his rationality when he could manage, and surpressing what little else he couldn't.

Now that he was more......aware of the newfound phobia, Ventus would now begin taking measures to tightly leash it and bring it under his total command. Easier said that done, given how his 'discipline' over his fears/utter HATRED of unknown Fairy types and the Arcane in general, but hey, some restrait is better than none, right?

'.......I had thought that was a horrible, horrible walking daydream I experienced last night, but I nor my mind can deny what I witness now: Nathan has somehow fully opened that MONSTER's heart and deeply bonded with it. That by all rights he could achieve this blasphemous camaradence with that elderitch nighmater demon should be beyond impossible , a bond that should not ever be, but he somehow manage to do it anyway. *Shivers* ......I don't know HOW he achieved this, and I don't WANT to know. So long as he keeps that...that twisted paradox AWAY from me, he can French kiss it for all I don't know and don't CARE. '

'Ugggh.....*Shivers again in fear, before shaking his head* Becalm yourself Ventus. You are here to provide support to the boy's efforts to reign triumphant against Dagney, no matter how what........methods he uses to reach that goal. I must always remember that I am the undisputed master of myself, and I must not allow internal or extrenal influence to weaken me. .....No matter how terrifying they are.'

With that mental struggle now won in his favor, the scientist resumed his vigilance over the ongoing battle, though by now he had taken a seat besides Michael and was watching silently and with a neutral expression now. Occasionally, he also made sure to check up on the electric mice to make sure they weren't getting up to any mischief, while also encouraging them to cheer even harder whenever Nathan made a specutalar or grand play! As for his brother, he left them be for the most part, though he did make sure they weren't taking this battle TOO seriously and to enjoy the spectacle itself!

Order: Have a revelation and discovery with Ventus, then commence a Cheerleading Training Session with Plusle and Minun, while Michael focuses more on intently watching the battle to hone his own strategies and tactics to one day take Nathan down several pegs (Also a Training Session, but clearly he's doing something different than the mice)!  Ven will just sit and watch/continue watching the battle himself, occasionally clapping his heads and keeping tabs on all the Pokémon.

"Hi, Shiva. Today we have a Grumpig who, true to his name, is grumpy. I honestly have no clue what has made him so angry lately. He's typically a little feisty, but he's been extra angry as of yesterday. He's been throwing things with his psychic power, disturbing the other Pokemon, and making a lot of noise. Especially the noise part. See if you can figure out what's wrong."

Plusle and Minun get a Training Session as they dance together! All kinds of weird things are happening across the gym. First, a lady in a nice getup almost drops her drink, but manages to catch it at the last minute. Then Michael's training leap, designed after one of Calam's, goes extra high! Then, by some miracle, Orthros manages to survive a Sandstorm and a strong Earthquake that should have flattened him! Could it be the effects of the cheerleaders?

4 Insight + 2 Knowledge + 1 perform
(6)(2)(3)(5)(3)(2)(4) - this is for both Plusle and Minun, @Shiva.

Breloom's tactics training roll:
4 Insight + 2 knowledge +1 empathy

She sends out Excadrill for a last stand!

The Leader's Last!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BTQld53COk (Gym Leader's Last Pokemon - Pokemon Origins)

"Indeed. Calam, keep pressing the advantage. Soften that mole up for Starmie if you can't KO it. Get it low enough, and the burn could take care of the rest."

Nathan's tryiing to read the situation carefully...and he's determined to see this through! (spending 1 Will to ignore Pain for the round!)

If Nathan thinks Excadrill is going to use a damaging Ground type move...

Me First x2!

Accuracy: 3* Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Perform - 2 Pain - 2/3 actions = 6/5 D6
Damage pool: Same as the copied damaging move's, but with an added +1! And also +1 damage for being SE against Excadrill.
Effect: It also has +1 Priority in Pokerole! Nothing like finishing a foe off by using their own strength against them, right?

If Nathan doesn't think a ground move is incoming, then continue using good ol'...

Night Slash x2!
Accuracy: 7/6 D6
Damage and Effect: Still the same!
