Heart join with Shiva to take a look in the Grumpig. Heart didnt bring Viktor out of the Pokeball to not startle the pig with a Ghost Pokemon. "So...any ideas about how to proceed Shiva?"

"Yes, I do have ideas." She casts a faint smile. "Keep yourself in the background for now, with me, and let us witness what happens next..."

Nevertheless keeping respectful distance to him, she called out her Kyuu, her grey kitten with the leaking psychic power, to the scene and got down to be on eyelevel with him. He greeted her with a wondering and melodic *meow*, then followed his Master's discreet pointing to Grumpig. "Listen, Kyuu... You see that piglike Pokemon dancing? That's a Psychic type, like you. I feel like it partly dances to a specific rythm... You remember how back then in Fireweed Forest, we met that Scald, and they invited us to jam with them, and you've been lured by Braixen here performing and letting us hear his voice, eventually joing and purring and meowing to the rythm? As well as how you were with me, right here on my shoulder, during that ritual by the campfire, sounds of flute and Shamisen guiding us until a birdlike creture came from the clouds? Bring these memories back to your mind... Then approach that Grumpig, see if you can't adapt to his hypnotic dance and pick up the rythm... See how he reacts. Do not worry, it's almost impossibly that you'll end up being hypnotized." (Since Kyuu's Own Tempo prevents becoming confused)

"Braixen, you too refresh these memories in your mind, please. Lets us both concentrate to figure out the tune hidden in Grumpig's mind... When you feel you've got it, cast a Lucky Chant to calm us all. Use your dormant psychic powers, maybe, or your enlighted wand to go with the tune."

While Heart watches, Shiva orders her two Pokemon to create music.
Braixen lets out a very successful Lucky Chant, right to the beat of Grumpig! Grumpig's eyes start to widen.
Then Kyuu takes the stage, doing a dance a bit like Grumpig's. Unlike Grumpig, Kyuu's dance is an eclectic mix of various styles and rhythms. Shiva can't even make sense of it, but there seems to be a pattern in Kyuu's mind if no one else's. 
Grumpig hates this other rhythm, and he sits down on his tail and crosses his arms and refuses to dance.
The weird tempo disrupts Braixen, and he can no longer manage to keep the beat. The effects of the Lucky Chant linger, but the music ends abruptly.

"...so...*sniff*...I guess we're heading to the Shelter next?  After you..."

At the Shelter, Nathan first inquires about the stories of both Charmeleon and Pyroar.  If he's going to adopt one of them, he'd like to know how they ended up there in the first place.  Should make it easier to interact with them.

Director North comes out personally to chat. "Ah, this Charmeleon, a classic story. A sweet Charmander abandoned for being weak. Defeated by Dagny despite a type advantage. We took it in, though it was not disobedient, for if it ever evolved we thought it likely to become more ill-tempered. Correctly so, for it was soon this Charmeleon with a completely different personality! It seems to get angrier by the day, and closer to evolving, too, which will make things even worse."

"Pyroar we are not so sure on. He prefers the company of people to Pokemon. He's even fine with children. He likes the Ultra Ball he was left on our doorstep in. I think he was probably owned by someone who did not battle much or own any other Pokemon. We've never tried to make him battle, so I don't know how he would respond to that. He's nice and healthy though, despite his lack of battle exercise!"

"Oh, one more thing. Shiva and Ventus gave Charmeleon a schooling yesterday, so he's in a taciturn mood."

Indeed, Charmeleon is crouched on the floor of the parklike area outside, slowly drawing doodles in the concrete floor with one claw tip.

"...what, don't think you're strong?  I beg to differ.  I'm sure you're plenty strong, just like any other pokemon.  Maybe you just need a little help to realize your full potential.  Dagny beat you rather soundly, right?  Well..."

Nathan pulls out his Ankerite badge to show Charmeleon.

"...what would you think about being trained by and traveling with someone who beat Dagny?  Barely, but I won."

Huh, this was partly a pleasant success and partly a blatant failure. At least it seemed like Kyuu had his fun.

Mental note: If ever participating in Pokemon Showcase, train a lot with Kyuu if he shall join a performance.
Noted. Maybe use a different Pokemon for that sake. Aria has a won the Master Class Tourney with her Braixen.

Shiva prefered not to make much of a scene out of that failure, and waved her psychic kitten back to her to hand him a pirsifberry cookie. "We tried, and it was...interesting to see what you can do. Now rest a little, dear one..." He's withdrawn, and Shiva casts an apologizing look over to Grumpig that clearly said 'Well, this didn't work out. Let us try again.'

Before we attempt again however, this look evolved into a rather calm look. "That tune you're following... It seems to be linked to your wellbeing, isn't it? Then you shall have all possibilities to follow that tune... But the other Pokemon here don't appreciate being startled because you cannot. That's why I am here. Braixen, concentrate and find the beat again, chant and howl to it... if it helps, I can follow you or guide you with...where did I put it... ah, this thumbharp."

Mechanics:
Seems like Grumpig is more of a manipulative psychic performer than a battler or a harm? If he displays to be, then I do have an idea of what may help him feel better in the long run.
