When Ventus finished up his response to Nathan's philosophical and.....comforting words, the next thing they said forced him to curtail his physical reaction of raising both eyebrows, and Kirlia feverant gestures/feelings of 'No, don't answer that! Please!' only made him more concerned and curious as to how and why THAT, and just what he was going to have to do about this.

'Oh dear.....its never anything simple with this boy and his partner. *Mental Sighing* Time to tread more lightly, if I do not wish to re-ignite their past night's woes vividly so....'

It seems, however, that you ended up blocking out the whole event in lenue of calming down."

Ven let out a sigh to punctuate his explaination, before turning his attention back to the ongoing confectionary feast at hand, the sight of his Pokémon enjoying themselves bringing a smile to his face despite the heavy conversation they were engaged/engaging in. Of course, he would have to scrub down Abaddon to remove that sticky mess he made later, and most likely clean the wings of Raphael and Lucifer to get any sugary gunk out of them, but it was more than worth such effort seeing them all so delighted....

"That is the summarized version of events. We can go into more detail tonight in the privacy of your room, if you have any desire the unabridged version of events and are willing to risk your emotional wellbeing once more. For now, let us watch our Pokémon happily feast on the sugary Swirlix, and then make our way towards the Gym once more. Shiva is due to have her match against them soon, so we best be their to greet her and cheer her on."

Nathan doesn't quite believe it at first.  His gut feeling was telling him something was wrong here...

...but what's confusing him is that Kirlia is telling him Ventus isn't lying.

Ultimately, he trusts Kirlia more than himself on the matter...though how long that may hold is up in the air.

"...there's no definitive right answer, unfortunately.  Only when one side's view of the other is proven wrong can one of them be said to be right.  Or if one side is wiped out and the winner writes the history books, I suppose...but if there's one thing I can say after everything I've read and heard about...pokemon, by nature, are much purer than we'll ever be, even if corrupted into something they shouldn't be at all...though maybe it's because of us that they are, since some are little more than wild beasts until given the care and attention...in a way, it's kind of like a reflection of what we are trying to be, I suppose...so...I'm most definitely on your side of the matter.  What the Unovan government was doing...it was the path to creating a monster that would do anything to escape and stay free, something you sought to prevent...pokemon are only very rarely truly monstrous without good cause...even artificial ones like Mewtwo..."

To get back to Stair City, Shiva and her Pokemon do not take the elevator. No, given how she wanted to spend a little more time on her return to the magnificient city for the sake of simply being in Lilith's company and calm herself before she'd attend what was inevitable and would sooner or later come with full force - her very own facing of the Steel Wonder in battle to proove herself worthy of a second badge - she turned a different way now: She looked up to the mountains the Great Divide consisted of, up to the stair that was cut into them. The one that is described here.

True, a small stroll avoiding the market stalls, tourist attractions and anyone who would follow her with the eyes as she was still carrying a young Spritzee emitting a sweetish and calming scent wherever they went does sound like a pleasant way to mentally prepare herself. In detail, Shiva keeps Spritzee, Gothitelle and Vaporeon out of their Balls along the way.

For the most part, she doesn't say anything and just enjoys the walk, the sight, the nature around as a welcome distraction from all the steel and technology in the city and of course the company of these three Pokemon, all companions she was lucky to meet and register to her relatively short ago.

She found her voice back as soon as the little group has arrived what would be a lonely spot at the peak of the mountain, as they all looked down on Stair City before them. The place still reminded her of her homecity to some degree, it made her melancholic...delighted...and safe, weirdly. It's true for her that the peaceful life at her parent's in Unova's metropolis has not really prepared her for hardships and teached her barely any resilience during troublesome times, but on the other hand she has the luxury of a loving home and a secure future if she follows her path on becoming a Professional Breeder and Move Tutor. Both were things she has learned to value more than she did before along the so-far journey through this region.

"....the stars aren't visible yet." That was for now all she said in a low and soft voice, it clearly had a melancholic ring between the lines. How she could throw herself off the cliff here if she'd really want she's trying hard to ignore - it were such peaceful lone places and moments that calmed her and unsettled her at the same time.
She should be happy. She wanted to be happy. Why is this shadow still following her everwhere, despite she has achieved so much so far?

To have something to do and to not spiral down into unhealthy thoughts now of all costs, she drew that small dark stone with the runes she bought from the Fortune Hunter once more and held it up to muster it in the sunlight again, naturally that Vaporeon was pretty curious about what Master has brought up there and demanded to sniff on that weird stone. Shiva let her. "Hehe... You again." *petting her forehead and adjusting her flowercrown* "I can call myself lucky that I've met you, huh? Though I haven't battled with you once so far, have I..... well, if you're down for it, that will change as soon as we're back in the city, so please prepare yourself for displaying some of your skills, okay? Couldn't care less about what the others think. Couldn't care less about the Scimitars probably still want to abduct me..." Actually, she DOES care about the latter though, and immediately felt a little more insecure up here. She gave Spritzee on her shoulder a stroke under the beak to deal with this nervous thought.

Having received the small dark stone back from Vaporeon, she brought her attention to her newest companion, elusive Gothitelle, but her gaze was still lingering over the city of technology and steel below and before them. "So.... I can call myself lucky that you're giving me a chance, can I? That's sweet of you... But I'm not that much of what one would call a 'strong Trainer' or a 'battler'. No, I'm different than the others of the group, you'll see... Though one day, I do want to see you defeating a foe that pesters us, deem myself worth enough in your view - our path together has just started, and it's our task to follow the way and see where it leads to, isn't it? I'm tired of counting dollars - excuse me, workhours to pay for you, I'd rather count stars. With you, that is." Now, Shiva has found a bit of positivity that laid deep in her back, it caused her smile just a little. "Do tell me, as I've been told you came to the Shelter on your own for a reason that I can only theorize of so far, are you even interested in participating in battles at all once we've bonded some more? I don't like battles just for the sake of battling though - I enjoy stylish, friendly battles and outplaying any aces I have up in my sleeve. It became undenyable for me that a Pokemon grows by holding battles with and for it's Trainer - the fruits I managed to harvest so far with my other Pokemon companions you'll likely meet soon via winning one or two important battles surely taste sweet, you know.... If you'd be down for this, I'm asking you to attend such a battle with me later. No, not on the battlefield - just stay with me, and witness it. Regardless whether you might have already read the result of it within the stars, please."

"Also... say, do you want to keep a hold of this dark stone with the etched runes on it? Here, you can have it if you like...." *respectfully offers it to Gothy in both open hands, allowing her to take it - or not if she doesn't want to* "I don't know what it means YET, but hopefully soon I will."

Have this little scene of Shiva up there on the hill to i.a. mentally prepare herself for the upcoming Gym Battle as she's still nervous about this, before eventually heading down to Stair and mentioned Gym after @Iron inserted reactions for the Pokemon. That's it for now, I'll be heading to sleep.

Then Heart close the phone in the moment he came to the front of Gym, waiting for Shiva to come.

The occasionally egnimatic sociologist couldn't help the curious and somewhat baffled look at Nathan's strangely in depth knowledge of Cynthia, but in the end he shook off such feelings and simply focused on what being said. While he knew astonishingly little about her personal life and affairs outside the information she has freely shared with them, it was and still isn't necessary for him to learn anymore besides that. She was his fine and occasionally overbearing friend, and that was all that mattered in the end. No need to pry for details if she didn't feel it necessary to share them with him as well!

"Interesting.....now that make it apparent, those statements do sound like something she would say. Cynthia never spoke much or at length about her own affairs with me, but it was clear to me she was rather passonate and sincere in many aspects, most especially when it came to Pokémon. I learnt that right away when she practically twisted my arm to accept her Togekiss' Egg despite my kind protests, with the unwavering reasoning I would 'be a wonderful trainer to raise it.' I still don't understood what made her think a self amitant Fairy type phobic such as myself was fit for the task, but I can't say at this point I'm wanting of her generosity."

" Oh, so you know of her selection of Pokémon as well, do you now? *Chuckles a bit* Yes, I know them quite well, since she's shown me her team a few times, both on request from myself, on a whim or desire on her part, etc etc. Her Garchomp and I got along splendidly together once we were introduced, to the point I think she would be a bit put off with how quickly we became good friends if she didn't know my affinity for Dragons and experience with Disobedient Pokémon. Miltonic was curtious and friendly enough with me, but was reasonably reticent in regards to more ethusiatic bonding, though she didn't shy away when I had sweat treats on my person! Cynthia indeed does have an Eleketross, among other Pokemon, though she never got along that well with me despite my frequent attempts to befriend her. Shocking, isn't it?

"That Spiritomb, though......while I found it utterly fascinating , to my dubious honor it held me in a similar regard, and set about play all sorts of devious antics around with me with a gusto I've hardly seen since. Several time Cynthia would have to 'rescue' me from it and give them a good scolding, which only lead to temporary repreave and an even more intense diabolic trickery on their part later on. Took awhile for me to get used to it, but after awhile I grew to find it endearing they would focus so much of their attention on me, when normally they would give anyone else but a opponent the time of day...."

"*Sighs* Honestly, though.....what's so significant about Cynthia you would dedicate your time learning more about her? She's isn't some world famous celebrity to my knowledge, so I don't understand why you are so obsessed with her. If you desire that greatly to meet her yourself, I could always introduce you to her over video phone. Its about time I report on how Raphael has been doing since I last sent notice, so you can join me while I make the call. Perhaps you could even make an argument to visit Cheshire for the reason you described, if you think she'd be interested."

"Indeed? I've never heard of Legendaries that could rival the Grand Creator itself in power, nor anything that is similar to the Tao Dragons themselves! How......odd, but titillating none of the less! If you could, can you tell me more about these 'Yin' and 'Yang' Pokémon?"

...Ventus went silent for the longest time after Nathan gave his advice and firm, unyielding support of their choices with Silverfish. When it didn't seem like the researcher would respond at all to this, he finally spoke up.

"'Hope springs eternal,' as some say. Its may be fool's errand to believe that Silverfish and I will ever reunite and become friends once more.....but I never claimed I wasn't one, hmm? Alright then, I'll keep the faith, Nathan, for even if it hurts at times to bear its scorching flames, I would hurt even more to know that I could have helped them in their time of need, but choose not to. .......Thank you, Nathan."

He's got a calm, small smile on the outside, but his eyes have practically lit up and there's a beaming smile on the inside. "...that'd be...wonderful. I'll...do my my best to stay respectful and polite and...I should probably just stop talking, shouldn't I? Sorry...force of habit..."

Nathan gets a lot more quiet and thoughtful at Ventus's request to hear more about the Yin and Yang pokemon.

Nathan flips through his journal...pausing for a second on two sequential pages in particular, which clearly depict two incredibly detailed, full page, neatly colored illustrations of Cynthia. One in her warmer, black coat, her Garchomp by her side, and the other in her more relaxed Summer garb that she dons when in Unova (her outfit from the Best Wishes arc of the anime), her Togekiss overhead.

There are also a lot of loose papers between the nearby pages. A LOT of loose pages. For how organized Nathan's journal is, this looks kinda chaotic.

'Looks up to her' is very likely to be a MASSIVE understatement...

Yin and Yang: Tsukinami Village - Pokemon Uranium (Bell/Tin Tower Remix - Pokemon G/S/C/HG/SS)

After a few minutes of carefully reviewing his notes, Nathan thoughtfully nods and begins the tale...

"Most everyone is familiar with Sinnoh's creation myth. Arceus, the Thousand Armed Pokemon, born from an egg that formed from a void of nothing. Arceus went on to create many Legendaries to help it shape and manage the universe and our world..."

"...Tandor has a slightly different spin on this, though. It is their belief that the universe was formed by two beings of equal power. Aotius, the Yang pokemon, and Mutios, the Yin pokemon (Nathan meaningfully fingers his necklace once more as he says this). His bright light and Her protective shade...equal, yet opposite. And you know how the saying goes...opposites attract. Their love for each other is great...but making physical contact with each other had...explosive results, as the two of them are polar opposites. Where there was once nothing besides the two pokemon, an entire universe now stood."

"They could never touch for fear of destroying what they unintentionally created, but they poured their love into the new world regardless. Their influence is everywhere. Light and dark, night and day, male and female, peace and violence...and more."

"And if you look carefully enough, their represented by many pairs of things, even among pokemon and humans. Latias and Latios, Reshiram and Zekrom, Xerneas and Yveltal...it all sounds rather unbelievable, I know, but there's one more story related to them that solidifies Tandor's belief in these ancient, mostly forgotten creator deities..."

"...I personally believe that all three creator deities have a hand in shaping and managing the universe and our world. There's undeniable proof that all three exist, but which of them came first...well, that's anyone's guess, really."

".....I never begrudged her for keeping her affairs personal for the most part, since I know perfectly well the desire to keep one's secrets closely locked. The fact of the matter, though, is that such things like our personal lives were simply irrelevant between us. We're good friends, and that is it. You are quite right about her being passionate about her interests, and her sharing them with others, however! Several times she recounted a few of her more memorable matches to me, and more often than not badgered me into discussing my own research and experience with Pokémon! Good times, good times....."

Ventus is almost equally taken aback by the sheer blinding joy that practicing erupted from Nathan at his seemingly innocuous and casual offer, a not so faintly baffled and somewhat cautioning expression temporarily affixing itself to him. "......Alright then. Just.....don't put her on a pedistool, if at all possible. At her core, Cynthia is a normal person like you or I, and deserves to be treat as such and not an idol, unless she says otherwise."

He also managed to catch a few glimpses of the boy's journal and those finely drawn pictures of his friend, and had to resist the urge not to boggle and shake his head in bewilderment. More and more, he finds himself ever so slightly concerned and confused at the reverence he hold for her, but so long as its not a constant overbearing aspect of him and a problem, he could accept it for the most part. Didn't stop it from being all so weird to him, though!

Soon, the empath was able to banish such thoughts from his mind, and patiently waited for the young scholar to finish his review over the Yin and Yang Pokémon, and sate his own curiousity over them by reciting the information on them.....

Shiva does watch the Fortune Hunter leave, delighted that she has returned the hug, and puts the card she gave her to her Trainer's pass and Breeder's Lisence.

She would also appreciatingly pat Gothy on the shoulder for accepting the rune-etched stone from her to hold, but she restrained herself as she is not yet close enough to this elusive Psychic Type to touch her.


With that said, she took another look down to Stair City before her, taking a deep breath, then turning around to face away from the city before she started her way downwards the hil, back to all the steel down there...

"Heya Shiva! Heart here! Well, I make some changes for today and I heading to the Gym to see the battle and all. I going there cheer there! If you want of course..."

She'd get the message as soon as she arrived at the outskirts of Stair, it caused a shy wave of a flattered feeling within her - she didn't reply though, she packed cell away, fastened her pace to the GPC to swap around in her party (i.a. are her Electric rodents now in her party, they'll get released of their Pokeballs to head to the Gym alongside their Master), before she made her way to the place that must have silently awaited her already: Dagny's Gym. Eeek.

Since Heart's already there, she'd wave to him upon arriving. On the outside, she's looking calm and content - on the inside, rather coy and nervous, but there's no turning back now. "Hehe... Eh, hello, Heart. It's sweet that you'd come to...watch... Oh, say hello to him too, Lilith. He's a good person, I think. Heart, say hello too the reason why I've worked at the Shelter for days... I hope you're not minding occassional visions from her."

She's hesitating strongly before she spoke the next few words out, looks away from Heart to the incredibly interesting grey street below, and generally turns incredibly meek, shy, and silently wishful, the latter being displayed by a hinted smile.
