A lot of boredom in some of those words, though, I imagine.  Which I'm sure Ralts would pick up on.

"Not a very exciting daily routine, huh?  Yeah, I hear ya...I come from a rather quiet place myself...Trillium Town, farther north.  At the foot of an active volcano.  About the most exciting thing that happened there though was seeing the Running start around the slopes of the volcano...from a loooonnnngggg ways away.  And that only happens once a year.  Not very exciting in the long term.  Lots of cool hiking trails in the forests around the mountain's base, though.  And I guess it is a bit of a crossroads for the northern part of the region..."

Nathan snacks on some stuff, thinking.

"...ya know, ya ever thought about maybe traveling?  Would probably be a great deal more exciting.  I know my life certainly has been since I set out...been across maybe half of the region by this point..."

The emotion is more of the kind of emotion you see when an old person finally finds someone to listen to their story.

Emolga shakes his head. He runs into the tree and comes out with a bundle of fluff, with pine needles stuck to it. He cuddles the fluff, showing how comfortable his home is.

Heart smile a bit. "I knew it. From what I remember from the battle I have see you battling you sometimes begin with bring Marill or Azumarill in this case. Thats why I have bring Viktor and Typhon. In pokemon battles, its always important to try to predict the type of actions your adversary might do before he do. Of course, its impossible to predict everything your foe might do, even if you know what he or she will do." Heart explain. "But against you Shiva, it will be a challenge to predict what you might do against my pokemon. I not a master of strategy, but I have a few ones. Bring your best Shiva."

"Oh, I see.  Just happy to have some company.  Gotcha.  Heh.  I feel ya.  Yeah, it's nice to have someone who actually listens for once...and I feel ya on not wanting to leave home, too...I want to head back home sometimes myself..."

More thoughtful snacking.

"...but then I think about how many friends I've made while traveling, and wonder if I would have ever met so many wonderful people if I'd stayed at home.  I've certainly not felt as lonely since I started traveling, I can tell ya that much..."

Emolga chatters at you some more. He nods at Kirlia, affirming the value of having some friends, but it seems he will take more than food and the lure of travel to budge him from his very comfy home.

Nathan smiles. "Yeah, Ralts here is my best friend. We've been through a lot. Wouldn't have been able to get this far without him...well, and everyone else, of course."

Nathan lays on the ground, his hands behind his head, and tries to relax.

"...ya know, you remind me a little of my dad, Emolga. In a good way. He was quite happy with where he ended up, too...still ended up traveling a lot to help mom sort out ranch business and other things, but he tried to stay at home for as long as he could whenever he got the chance...mom once told me he was lookin' forward to retirement, when he wouldn't have to almost constantly Fly around almost the whole region on his Skarmory and could just stay home and relax with us consistently for once..."

...Nathan's smile briefly turns into a small frown.

"...I know he has family here in the city, but he never really talked much about them beyond Cress being his hometown...he never spoke ill of them, but...he never did tell me much of anything about them...and nobody from his side of the family ever took the time to visit the ranch...not that I can blame them if they didn't want to go through Mt. Sentry..."

"...sometimes I wonder if they might have an idea of where my dad went...probably not, though...League probably asked them already, too...I just hope he's okay, wherever he is..."

Well, this conversation's certainly taken an interesting turn...wonder what Emolga thinks of that? Nathan's certainly taking advantage of just havin' someone to talk with...it's doin' him some good for sure.

Emolga waits patiently for Nathan to finish, and gives him a few beats after he's done. He smiles, and tells you a story of his own. Who knows what you might be able to learn if you could understand it?

Yup, who knows...

Nathan has a small smile on his face again regardless.

"Ya know, that's another way you're like my dad.  He always took the time to listen...and he'd always have some stories of his own, too...he never seemed to mind taking the time..."

...

"...it'd be nice to have someone like that around again...it's been three years since I last saw him..."

"...I don't know.  Maybe it's a bit selfish on my part, I guess...but I definitely haven't felt this...at ease in a long, long time..."

...

"...just a bit more.  A bit stronger.  A bit faster.  Another gym badge or two.  Maybe three.  And if dad hasn't shown up by then...I'll try and find him myself.  Regardless of the lack of clues.  He has to be somewhere..."

"...you're probably good at spotting stuff and fending for yourself, right?  Could I ask if you could...help? It'd have to be long term, but...I could use all the help I can get, really...and it'd be nice to have someone who enjoys conversing around for sure...some extra company is never a bad thing...I know that's probably a lot to ask, though..."

That's a new way of recruiting a Pokemon. I'll roll for it!

(2)(2)(5)(6) Empathy vs (5)(3)(2)(3)(2)(1)

Emolga chatters to you, a bit sympathetically, and then hops down to land on Furret. From there he starts looking around quite seriously, talking about what he sees all the while.

Emolga will have 2 Happiness and 2 Loyalty as long as he gets to spend enough time out talking and eating. No disobedience.
He knows Thunder Shock, Quick Attack, Charge, Spark, Nuzzle, and Encore.
Nathan gets 1 XP.
