[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Heart, I just noticed that Phantump didn't have enough dice for four actions, so I'm changing that to three for you.

Heart vs Shiva Round 2

"K... Azu, DRENCH THAT STEELY CREATURE IN BUBBLES! You, Spritzee, concentrate on that grassy Ghost, before moving on with your Fairy Wind to it as well! Forgive me that your first battle is against a... Steel Type..."

Protect 1
(6)(1)(2)(1)(4) Aron withdraws into his shell.

Bubble Beam 1
(5)(4)(2)(4)(1)
7 dice, -3 vit, -3 from the shield = The powerful Bubble Beam crashes through the shield, still managing to affect Aron some!
(3) +1 Aron takes 1 dmg 5/6hp
CD: (5)

Charging 1 - Phantump disappears into his own shadow.

Fairy Wind 1
(5)(2)(2)(4)(2)(5), but it's Shielded by Aron and Phantump is still invisible.
Little Spritzee cheeps in frustration!

Bubblebeam 2
(4)(6)(6)(3)
(6)(1)(2)(2) Aron takes 2 dmg 3/6hp -2 pain
CD: (5)

Phantom Force 2 on...Azumarill! Pop!
(6)(1)(3)
(4)(2)(5) Azumarill takes 2 dmg 3/9hp -2 pain

Iron Head 2
(6)(5)
(6)(3)(1) Azumarill takes 1 dmg 2/9hp -2 pain
Flinch: (6)(5)(3) Azumarill flinches 3!

Fairy Wind 2
(6)(1)(2)(1)(2) Ah, bad luck! The attack misses due to unforeseen circumstances: Azurill is doubled over clutching her stomach, shielding Aron and Phantump both!

Azumarill flinches 3.

Charge 3

Heart orders Perceval to take advantage of that confusion in Azumarill!
Iron Head 3, holding back. Just need one success and one damage!
(5)
(6)(4)(3) Azumarill is out of the battle!
Phantump gains +1 Loyalty. Heart can feel him, invisible, give him a little kiss on the cheek! Aw.

Fairy Wind 3
(5)(5)(3)(2)
(6)(5)(1) Aron takes 1 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain. Phantump is invisible or possibly not even on this plane of existence!

Iron Head 4
Not enough dice.

Infestation: (4)(3) Phantump takes 1 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain.

Phantump has his signature move all charged up, but he needs just one more hit from pretty much any attack and he'll be out of the fight.

Upon hearing/seeing/feeling Haunter's responses, Ventus diabolical grin was replaced with a more thoughtful and charinged frown underneath his mask, before ask a couple of follow up questions: "How many allies does Chandelure exactly have? Are they all of the same species? Are they all equally powerful, or is Chandelure the 'Boss' of its coalition?" In return, he received their were exactly three of them counting Chandelure, yes they were of the same species, but they are not all within the same power, with the allies being much weaker (yet still formidle) than IT. Overall, the candlestick spirit was well defended, and held enough power and threat level between them that it gave even the normally chipper and gung ho Haunter a moment of hesistant pause.

With all pertinent questions answered, the masked marauder went quiet for a moderate period of time, head tilted downwards in thought as he review to gathered intel and how it would affect his plans going forward.

'Most likely those Litwicks I saw that Ruin Maniac interacting earlier, as all the clues strongly points to this conclusion. Their interference could exponentially complicate my plans to exact PUNISHMENT on Chandelure , and will undoubtedly magnify the danger for Haunter should he assault them alone. Especially if one or more of the bunch knows Inferno, and IT decides to use Memento again to render its enemy helpless and feeble... '

'Hmm, I could summon Hanael or ask Valder to bring out Mamo and try to hit them with a focused Magnitude or a dampened Earthquak.......no, that won't work. The force of the moves wouldn't be able to penetrate deep enough, and both are highly liable to irreparably compromise the structural integrity of this chamber. Caving in this entire place in is certainly an option, but not one I want to exercise unless as a final resort...'

'Could Haunter drag Chandelure out here, or dive in and out for Healing as necessary? .....Yes, but they still suffer the same risks as before, only more so because they are putting themselves in situation were more harm could come to it. I could give it a Sitrus Berry or ask Valder if he has any other more defensive Held Items for them to wield, but those wouldn't change the fact that they would still be outnumbered against those wretched Fire Ghosts, and only mitigate the danger they pose....'

As he pondered all these ideas and summarily rejected them for various reasons, the researcher gradually came to the unsavory conclusion that sending in Haunter alone was ill advised at best, and an outride suicide mission at worst. This obviously displeased him to no end, causing he to let out a deep, low, and menacing growl born of pure frustration and tightly clutch his hands over his REVENGE being denied, and the uncomfortable + insidieous feeling that Chandelure would get away with its crimes.

'Damn it and THEM (Chandelure and co) all under Reshirim's, Zekrom's, and Kyurem's watchful gaze! The cowardous wisp, hiding away from the JUSTICE it so avidly deserves, calling upon the aid of others to shield its sorry existence, damning them in the process along with it! I NEED to PUNISH IT, but I can't in good consciousness order Valder send Haunter to confront them all by himself, lest I condemn him in my quest for recompense against my tormentors. I CAN'T let them get away with this; I WON'T let them get away from this. Think Ventus! You have a doctorate in Sociology and Pokémon Behavioral Research for Reshirim's shake, so THINK!!!'

For several minutes he stood partially hunched over brainstormed in brooding silence, angry at his lack of a 'golden solution' , until finally it just came to him, so simple yet so right.

'.....Ah. That would work well. Quite well. Its as they say: if you can't engage an enemy now, fall back and gather reinforcements.'

"......Valder, that will be enough for today, and I thank you for the assistance you and Haunter provided. Without it, I wouldn't be able to accomplish my mission at all, so once all is said and done about it I'll make sure you are well rewarded. Make your way back to Cress City, or head over to Stair to rest or do business their first if you prefer. I will be heading to Corsage myself to conduct a transaction, and then make my own way back. Tomorrow or the day after it we will return here to resume the assault on Chandelure and its cohorts; I'll call you, and then we'll meet up to discuss plans and preparations, before we head out once more. Again, I thank you two for the support. You are dismissed," Ventus said, his tone of voice fairly neutral with a few positive and negative tinges to it at points where he was complimenting Valder/Haunter and IT.

He then left the Candelabra and his mercenary behind, first going to a secluded/well hidden spot to change out of his disguise (taking care to shake off all the undried blood on his Cloak first before packing it away), and then continuing until he was in Stair City, where up he immediately summoned Haziel and politely convey his desire to be Teleport to the port town. Upon arrival he would head towards Pokémon Center and retrieve his Two Haunter and his long boxed Tangrowth (Switching out Haziel, Michael, and Abaddon in the process), and then make his way towards the Trading Hub and (if necessary) the 'less wholesome' markets, looking grimly serious the whole time.

Revenge will be his; its just a matter of time, effort, and expense at this point, which were things he was more than willing to cover the costs for...

Order: Relieve Valder of duty for the day, and then head over to Corsage to trade those two Gengars, his Tangrowth, $1000 Poke, and his Shamisen (I'm sorry my lovely instrument, but his quest for revenge MUST be accomplished by any means) for the aforementioned 'Reinforcements' we agreed upon. He will then go to the Center to retrieve Haziel, and then Teleport back to the East Pokémon Center, where he will be waiting for Shiva to pick him up on the not date. Tomorrow or the day after it will be the time he goes after Chandelure again, this time for real this time. But before that, let's kindle the flames of love between Ven and Shiva at long last!

Heart withdraws Perceval and sends out Gustav the Clauncher. (5) + 6 = 11
Shiva withdraws Spritzee and Azumarill to be replaced with Nightshade the Cherubi and Braixen. (4) + 5 = 9 and (2) respectively.

Heart was quite impressed by this round. He didnt expect to Viktor survive to this round. He bring Gustav to the battlefield. As he expect, Shiva have bring Braixen to the battlefield. But he was quite worry when she bring a Grass in the field. "That battle is becoming more and more intense. Thats a powerfull combination of yours: Grass and Fire and I have Grass and Water on my side. I think I will not survive the next attack with Viktor still hurting by the effect of Infestation. But who knows? In pokemon battles, you must expect the unpexpect. Hope you ready Shiva!"

"I, ehm, am ready I guess, always!~ Though the infestation has ended as you brought Azu back to my hand. T-Thank you that you held back! We'll see how things develop, so far you're doing a...good performance in this battle. I assume Clauncher still has that additional Ground Type?"

Nathan can't help but laugh at Furret's antics.  After throwing the Flash Ball, he saves the picture to his 'Dex, just like with the meadow of magenta flowers.  This was going to make a spectacular backdrop for Emolga's entrances...

Nathan takes a moment to show Emolga and Furret how the picture came out.  "There.  A little memento to remember this moment.  I think that turned out quite well.  What do you guys think?"

---------------------------------------------------------------

The shrine is simple.  Quiet.  Very...natural.  Peaceful.

A place of neutrality.

Nathan ended up sending Zippy to the PC.  He wasn't very happy with getting seperated from Princess for the first time since...Ginger Town, but a promise to reunite them ASAP after this trip to the shrine was finished sorta helped.

Nathan kneels in front of the shrine, offering a quiet prayer to Celebi.

The power to open a pokemon's heart by helping them recall a time they weren't closed off from the rest of the world...Nathan had been wondering if such power might be lingering in some of the places Celebi visits...

...but it doesn't particularly matter right now.  It's not a power that's needed.  Not at this point.  Nathan's done what was needed already.  There's no need to seek Celebi's aid in some form.

...silence...

...and then Nathan stands.  The thanks he gave was for Celebi's care for its pokemon friends.  He thinks that's an admirable trait to have.

That's all he needed to visit the shrine for, really. He sticks around to hang with his pokemon a little longer since he still has some time to kill before meeting Shiva.  Nathan spends some time chatting with Emolga, telling Furret about Celebi, playing with Ralts and Forthright, talking with Princess about various kings and queens long past and what made them well loved or hated by their people...doing things that make them happy.  Celebi probably wouldn't mind him spending sone time with his pokemon friends here.

Before he knows it, it's time to head back to the Center to deposit Princess and pull out someone else (think I'll swap her for...Grid.  Definitely Grid), since Nathan doesn't have room for both bees currently.

Shiva was silently enjoying these beams of sunlight illuminating the clearing they've found as a battlefield. It was still relatively early in the morning, so it wasn't 'painfully bright' yet, nor 'too hot to take', meanwhile her cherrylike Pokemon seems to have learned how to power up the sun in a way that it's not a pain in the eye, and natural Vitamin D was always prefered by her than pills containing it.

Though it all went a bit too fast for her, in a manner of seconds her dear sunbringer was already defeated by that crab... Somewhat frustrated by that, she eventually withdrew Nightshade into the safety and comfort of her Ball, held it close to her chest in appreciation of her effort, and eventualy packed it away only to draw another one containing Braixen's new battle partner. On the outside that discontent was only visible by a slight frown and how she abstained from commenting on it. Her magical fox seemed to be displeased by himself as that crab opted to protect himself from being cooked alive (not literally) with his massive claw, which he showed by letting out a low growl before he threw a glance over to his Master. She returned that glance in a slight smile for him, expressing that it's not over yet and how she trusts in his firepower, in the inner flames that can flare alive by any next hit. Heart may have defeated two of her Pokemon she has put trust in - but it only needed that moment of an exchanged gaze of confidence to ease the frustration to some degree and instead slowly realize that Nightshade has succeeded on what Shiva has hoped for, and from how that Clauncher backed away after being hit by the rainbow-colored leaves her Pokemon summoned to as her Final Act, she concluded that the crab does still own that secondary Ground Type. Fine, fine...

Flash forward!

After meeting with Shiva and doing stuff in the Violet Tent (details to come later, obviously), Nathan swaps Grid for Solomon (well, this is gonna be fun to keep track of...ah well) and heads to Creshire Museum!  Furret oughta LOVE that, and Solomon might find something there interesting.

Plus, Nathan needs to figure out if the phrases that gravestone piece is spewing out in the morning (Dih-cah-lih and Heh-eht-mawr so far...)  mean anything in particular...probably won't find what he's looking for at the museum, but he'll keep an eye out!

The Creshire Museum holds tons of info on the history of Creshire, including art, natural science, and current events. Nathan can expect this place to hold knowledge of history even he doesn't know!

You step into a big atrium, with glass ceiling and every other wall of the hexagon replaced with a window. There's a receptionist in a spinning chair, inside a circular desk with tons of pamphlets. Two hallways lead away: one down underground, one toward the back. Both hallways are covered in posters about the different exhibits.

Furret is very interested in a big map of Mt. Sentry that fills a whole wall in the museum's mudroom. Despite its size, it does not go into detail. It shows only the early tourist caverns, the main Route, and the Skull Ruins path with a big warning sign over it. The rest of the tunnels are just a randomly generated maze that updates itself constantly as you watch. Sadly, a little plaque explains that this is just a simulation. The map points out that the Cress City Gym Leaders traditionally train here and may know more about the paths than anybody. To learn more, follow signs to the Mt. Sentry exhibit!

They have gotten real creative with their signposts. Each one is built from some vaguely arrow-shaped artifact or art piece, such as a piece of stone, a real arrowhead, a gadget from FTS, or in one case, a painting of an old wanderer pointing left. Most are pretty ancient in theme, including lots of Mamo stuff. The walls are always molded to look like the portion of the museum you're in, such as cave walls, wicker huts, artist's studios, etc. They've gone all out.

  • Mt. Sentry
  • Captain Bridge exhibit
  • Telperion Recruitment and Info
  • Prehistoric Pokemon
  • Hidden Machine exhibit
  • Creshire Art
  • Become an Artist! Free paints and canvases!
  • Creshire International
  • Sarimanok Wing - complete with artifacts!
  • Skull Ruins exhibit
  • League Wing
  • Cress City History
  • Pokedex exhibit
  • Almanac Research Institute
  • History of Medicine
  • Meteor Wing
  • Creshire Plants and Natural Science
You can tell me a handful of places Nathan will visit and I'll put them all in one post; repeat until done. You can also tell me a specific question Nathan wants the answer to. Same for anyone else who decides to visit. Doesn't cost an Encounter, just hours!
