[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Nathan's silent for a moment.

"...would have been nice to know you were only planning on bringing five pokemon max at the start, Valder..."

...

"Heart, the only one of those four I listed that might not listen is Princess, and only if she evolves.  None of them are particularly disobedient as is."

...

He clenches a fist in frustration under the table.  Takes a moment to breathe and relax as best he can...Rhea's fur really is super soft and comfy...

...

"...fine.  Bring Koa.  Valder, I'll loan you Starmie (if Frogadier is left behind) and one of the bugs.  I'll have to ask Zippy and Princess if they're fine with being split up temporarily.  I'll sort out which 6 pokemon I'm bringing of the remaining 8 in the morning.  I'd also like everyone to meet me in the lobby tomorrow morning.  If you have any pokemon you think might be useful for Ditto to Transform into from memory if needed, bring them.  It has to have met the pokemon first to even attempt Transforming into them in the first place.  This is particularly important for Delta Onix in particular.  If anyone decides to change their lineup a little to accomodate for one of my four extra pokemon, let me know before we leave. I'll go buy that net for the pitons the climbing gear comes with in the morning after we've done that.  Good night, sleep tight, and don't let the Cubbugs bite. Come on, Rhea, let's go get some sleep."

Nathan carefully picks up his bag and exits the room, Rhea following after (now able to better keep up with his brisk pacing).  Swiftly.  It's probably clear by this point that he's able to move much more quickly and fluidly now.

He's sooooo frustrated right now, for multiple reasons.  He'll have cooled off by the next morning, though.

Maybe.

For the most part, Shiva remains silent as she does pick up that frustration from Nathan, as he has prooven easily to 'read' for her, she doesn't need her soon Insight of 5 to do so. However, he earns a deadpan look from her, as it'd be nice if he'd let others do what they think would be good and leave it at that instead of reacting like this when his suggestions and recommendations are not followed - everyone of the group is free to make their own decisions based on their experience and liking, after all.

Neither does she attempt to hold him back, but she does turn to the others as he's too swift to hear what she does say next: "Fine. If possible, can anyone of you let Nathan know that I will NOT meet up in the Lobby tomorrow morning? I don't know what he wants, but excuse me please, but I need to write two mails, meet Mr. Finder, teleport to Stair City's Department Store to both visit the bookstore AND buy the remaning supplies, then teleport back to swap my party, and I rather not change my schedule or delay things anymore than we already have. If the meeting prooved really necessary, anyone of you will probably update me on the way, I've told Mr. Finder that we'll meet him at the entrance of Mount Sentry, so I'll head there when I find none of you in the Lobby the time I'll get back there after errands."

The tone of her voice when she says that is calm. Not cold, but not too happy either, simply neutral, soft and calm.

It is now Day 56.

Above ground, it is raining. But below ground? Who knows! Well, it's probably not raining down there.

Make sure you either get your Quickpage in order, or at least make a post in the thread with who you're bringing.

Shopping can be done automatically and Cress City will have most items you might need underground. Digging tools are $350 apiece for things like pickaxes, crowbars, etc. A climbing kit with pitons and pulleys and carabiners and such is $500; comes with instructions.

Geodude is in a small nook beneath Mount Sentry. You can see his eyes gleaming with excitement in the half darkness.

Mr. Finder has sniffed the book to his heart's content and is ready to give it back.

Nathan's lineup (unless otherwise notified he's loaning out someone) will be Ralts, Calam, Solomon, Swiftfire, Ditto, and one other pokemon.

He asks Zippy and Princess if they're fine with Zippy going on this trip while Princess stays behind.  If yes (and if Frogadier is fine with staying behind), Zippy and Starmie get to go with Valder while Nathan takes Grid.  If no, they both stay behind, Valder gets Grid and Starmie, and Nathan takes Yule.  If Frogadier doesn't want to stay behind, I'll have to think about who gets Grid/Zippy/Starmie a little more.

Nathan's 'meeting' serves two purposes: loaning Valder the appropriate pokemon and introducing Ditto to any pokemon it might need to Transform into from memory that we aren't bringing along on the trip.  If you have any you want to show Ditto specifically (I think we can all agree Delta Onix is mandatory for safety reasons), please mention them now.

Afterwards, Nathan does some quick shopping to pick up the climbing gear and a 10x10 metal net ($1100 total), as Ventus said he would get the Digging Tools.

Nathan also checks with Charmeleon to see if he's doing okay (and if he's learned anything concerning teamwork and restraining himself when necessary as a result of yesterday's battle. He did very well, but he couldn't have done it without Rhea and he ended up fainting anyways due to overdoing it).  Zippy and Princess get to do their daily Honey Gather in the morning as well.

He also checks with Emolga to make sure he knows he's not being forgotten in the PC.  Besides, there's lots of friends in there, so he won't be alone.

And finally, he checks with Rhea.  Asks her to take good care of Forthright while they're both in the PC.  Does the Carvanha egg hatch before the group leaves?  If so, he'll assure her the PC system will do most of the work caring for the fish until Nathan returns.  If not, he'll assure Rhea the egg won't hatch until he withdraws it when he returns.

Phew...that was way more complex than I wanted it to be.

After yesterday's not so pleasant evening, Shiva was delighted like nothing to finally get some rest, it was a pleasant one overall mostly because it was a close one to both a particular oddball of Pokemon Sociologist and a particular and dear grassy fairy. The first thing Shiva actually does after Ventus has awoken her at the same time that he usually gets up, was taking a look outside of the window, and she had to both rub some sleep out of her eyes and adjust the glasses to confirm to herself that it's RAINING. Eeeeehhhhhh... Well, thankfully she had a fancy pocket umbrella with her and the group will descend into a mountain anyway, where the rain outside will be a thing she couldn't care less.

Once the two lovers had shared breakfast up in their dorm and descended down to the Lobby of the Eastern Pokemon Center, Shiva thankfully accepts the healed up Gothitelle back from the current Nurse Joy in duty, but she had to place her and Kyuu into a box of Bill's Storage Sytem as she needed Helios in her party for the sake of his precious teleporting skills. Gathering another sinfully black and strong coffee from the cafeteria, she eventually finds a free PC nearby, loggs in, opens her mail account and to her delight, there's indeed a reply from distant Castelia City that is dated with 'yesterday late-night'. Seems like it took a while to arrive at all as she sent the message in the morning.

Once she hit the 'Send' Button and - to her own amusement and slight shock - realized that she already almost half-emptied that cup of coffee in the writing-process, she moves on to the next mail she wanted and had to write, it was adressed to Golda and Wir of Ginger Town's Daycare. Whether they are up so early, Shiva doesn't know, but she rather not desirers to call them and accidently wake or disturb them.

Phew... That part of the things she wanted to wrap up today and before departure are dealt with so far, now that the mails are sent and Shiva has logged off and afterwards brough back the now indeed empty cup of coffee. With mentioned Kadabra in her party, she can now move on to the next part - head to the Violet Tent, with the pocket umbrella depicting that Lunatone protecting her from the rain that greeted her as soon as the sliding door of the Pokemon Center swung open with a silent 'woosh' to reveal the morning to this young fae-enthusiast with the occassional rapid move swings.

Mr. Finder was present already inside the Violet Tent, how lucky! Was he an early bird? As far as Shiva saw, not all the vendors were present at this time of the day, some boots were yet closed and at some the owner was just opening them by rearranging new content to sell.

Shiva's incredibly eager to get to speak to Mr. Finder this morning, and it shows by how she approaches him in a jolly nature. "Mr. Finder! I....well... Eh, good morning to you in the first place! I came to retrive that book I loaned you yesterday. Ah, thanky ou! I'll bring it back right away. I have some good news and some ...decent news, I guess?
The good one is, that one among our group accquired a stone that I highly believe to origin from the barrier, the Relic Stone associated with the Secret Library. I hope it'll help you finding the place for us faster and easier!
The less good one is that I'd like to reschedule our trip to this morning instead of this afternoon, please. That means... Is it possible for you to meet us all at the entrance of Mount Sentry from Cress' side in an hour?"

Next: With Helios' help she teleports in front of Stair City's Department Store after she mentally shared the image of this spot with her valuable Kadabra, and returns the book to the second-hand bookstore there in the exact same state that she received it yesterday, and thankfully accepts her Trainer's Card back.

Next: Shopping! Before I get to that though, how does a small batch of excavation material with the basic equipment to lay fossils/stones and such open for 1 person cost, Iron?

Yep! Carvanha hatches just in time - in the middle of the PokeMart, in fact.

Doesn't seem to have any unusual egg moves. 3 Loyalty (to Nathan and perhaps even to Furret). Furret is intrigued, but very glad she doesn't have to take care of a fish with Rough Skin.

*rolls*

As for Shiva, she gets a call right away on her secure cell phone!

"Shiva! It's Golda, dear. I have two gifts for you. Make sure you're alone, and I'll explain."

"The first is that darling Eevee Egg! If you're going on a long trip, maybe you'll want to take it along with your Breeder's License and work toward hatching it? Vapoeon bonded with her mate very quickly! You are lucky! It's in your PC now."

"The second thing is also in your PC. It's a special League Authority Pokeball that will not count against your legal limit of six, since it's registered to a secret agent of the League Authority! Perhaps you've already guessed who it contains - the Infiltrator Absol! He knows what to do - not so much for fighting, but for infiltrating, of course! You may keep him out of his Pokeball if you wish, once you are underground. I've obtained permission for your four friends to know of the Infiltrator - Ventus, Valder, Nathan, and Heart. Yes, we know all about what you five have been up to, and the League Authority was willing to trust them. Impress upon them the need for secrecy!"

"This means, of course, that the Scimitars are almost certainly interested in your journey underground, and the League Authority believes you may meet them. Be safe and don't take any unnecessary risks - that is Absol's job. His code name is Dizzy - short for Disaster."

GM will control Dizzy in battle, though you can ask favors of him. He's a young Absol, much smaller (and cuter!) than Calam, but already big enough to fight proficiently and exercise the wisdom of his intense training. Out from the watchful eyes of his trainers, he will prove to be very playful until things get serious.

Mr. Finder agrees to meet you in one or two hours. He tells you of a less-visited cavern that would be a good meeting place, away from prying eyes.
A pickaxe, price noted earlier, is just fine for digging fossils.

Alright, good to know.  Happiness is 3 as well, right?  She is getting registered to a normal pokeball.

That thing with Zippy, Princess, and Frogadier and whether they're willing to come along is very important.  Need that answered before we can move on.  I didn't really want to do it this way, but that's how it ended up.  :/

Ven couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as Nathan revealed 'Ralts' was actually his noted Ditto posing as them, which in retrospect would explain their relative silence and lack of empathic action that was usually so characteristic of them. However, he couldn't find himself all to surprised or impressed by this stunt, as the boy had tried his patience/tolerance to the limit and had thoroughly soured his good cheer and humors throughout the meeting, rendering the metamorphic blob's reveal less than stellar or surprising to the researcher. That, and Transformation was simply what a Ditto did , so while the feat/trickery was impressive, within the context of its species....not so much.

Their demonstration of its Hidden Power, meanwhile, VERY much fascinated/thrilled Ventus, as having the ability to confer even limited Transformation had a suite of research, strategic, and logistical applications just waiting to be explored! Ditto having to maintain its Transformed and its Transforme's state and it being limited to one target Pokemon at a time did admittedly disappoint him  when those facts came to light, but overall the genetically varied creature's HP still a invaluable quality to have. 'All the more reason for me to acquire it from Nathan ASAP, but until then I'll have to bide my time and build my wealth for that opportunity.....'

(04-11-2018, 10:07 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote:

The sociologist had to nod his head in silently/somewhat grudging agreement to Nathan's objection to including Gargryph, as while he knew next to nothing about it and its kin besides what had been discussed/researched about it in this meeting (which mildly annoyed him to an extent; it was his job to be in the know about all Pokemon....), all that scant information pointed towards it being a less useful choice to bring along the trip in comparison to another Water type like Mudkip/Netune or Koa. Having the ability to regenerate and not requiring much in the way of sustenance were useful qualities to be sure, but given that Ralts/Gustav could covered non-Potion healing and Gustav/Tropius provided a steady source of nourishment beyond what they take, Gargyph was plain overshadowed.

However, when the young scholar made his opinion known about excluding Frogadeir from the trip and his continued insistence to bring along the honeybees on the trip, that was when Ventus decided to speak up and offer his own rebuttal in a calm, respecting, and placating tone of voice.

"Nathan, I have to respectively disagree with having Valder leave behind Frogadeir and taking Princess and Zippy along on the trip. While we do have a dearth of Water types among us, that is not necessarily a bad thing in this situation, as the depths of Mt. Sentry no doubt are home to a myriad number of Rock and Ground types such as Gravelar, Sandslashes, or Onix that having more Water types could be more a boon than a burden. Frogadier also has access to Bubble and Quick Attack for powerful widespread damage and quickly scout out routes, and the species is renowned for their espionage and adaptive/flexibility in most any environment, especially in dark, winding areas like Mt. Sentry's tunnels. Therefore, I recommend that Valder keep them on his team rooster. If Starmie is to be added to his team, I recommend that Mamo be put up instead."

"As for why I still maintain my stance that Princess and Zippy should be excluded from this expedition, its for these reasons: everything they could offer is already being provided by the other Pokemon we've selected or could make up for ourselves, they are frankly horribly suited offensively and defensively for the trip, and in the case of Princess she a liability to everyone save yourself. Calam, Gothitelle, Lucifer, Frogadier, etc. amply provide in scouting and precautionary measures with their various unique traits, while Tropius and Gustav plus whatever else food we bring along should suffice so long as we carefully ration. In the event that we do somehow run out of food......well, as much as you loathed to hearing this Nathan, we could always hunt the local wild Pokemon for sustenance."

" Regarding their combat capabilities, your Combee frankly almost have none if I had to make a logical guess, and their Bug/Flying type means that any and all Rock types will make short work of them. Zippy in particular will suffer the most, as his small size and the fragility it confers means any attack that lands will put him in a perilous condition.  Even if Valder fighting style and training boosts their offensive capabilities, they can't make too good use of such Strength with their sparse movepool, and that includes if Princess evolves into a Vesipquen, and they lose out on the Dexterity your fighting style provides. Using them for scouting or the like will most likely result in them falling prey or being confronted by the various species of cave dwelling Pokemon, as Combee wandering around dark tunnels look to be a tempting and easy meal for predator. If I recall correctly, that exact situation happened once before when that Scimitar's Pinsir captured and nearly killed Princess, so you can not say my warnings are without merit."

"Finally, there is as you said the matter of Princess evolving in......Vesipquen during our expedition. At that point, whatever arguments you could have made about her food finding and scouting abilities become null or vastly limited, and any benefits that Valder could provide her are almost immediately rendered moot by her species extremely high Disobedience. This would mandate that you have to take her into your party, which defeats the point of loaning her to him in the first place disregarding the lose of her pre-evolution's traits. I also frankly rather not have to deal with any attempt of extending her authority over the rest of the group like her mother (he says the name like its venom dripping from his lips) nearly did to me and Ralts. If that is not a problem, then the points I made about her offensive and defensive capabilities still stand as a deterrent to including her or Zippy on this trip."

"Overall, for those reasons described, I feel it would be the best for everyone if they were entirely excluded from this expedition. If you feel the need to still include them regardless, then I would say that you have to carrying them both yourself, as the group should not be forced to care for Pokemon that are a less than optimal choice, as with Delta Onix. By not taking them along you could also freely afford to bring Grid or your other Pokemon in exchange."

After that fairly long winded speech, several times which he paused to catch his breath and make sure everyone was still paying attention, Ventus lapsed into silence, letting other speak on the topic while he silently reviewed his own tallylist for what to buy/bring along for the (hopefully NOT) perilous trip into Mt. Sentry....

(04-12-2018, 09:40 AM)Spiritmon Wrote:

Ventus gave Shiva a small nod of his head at her questioning about Lucifer's lack of Dragon moves until he evolves, along with giving his wordless agreement that Koa should be brought along for the reasons his girlfriend and Heart had argued. He quietly declined the collector's offer to care for his devil bat of a brother, however, but then re-stated that he could have Abaddon with him if he still had the space for them while he takes care of another non-Disobedient Pokemon like Ditto.

When the pun lover asked to meet up with him during his supply run, a look of curiosity flashed across the empath's for a moment, before it was replaced with a simple smile and a nod of his head as he said: "Be my guest, Heart. I could always use some good company."

The boy's mounting frustration with everyone having their own objections and critisims to his carefully laid out plans + designs was so apparent to him that he didn't even need his empathy of high Insight to tell that they were about to blow a gasket. This, coupled with Nathan all but storming out with a uncanny amount of grace and 'taking their ball home' (as it were) further increased his own disappointment and vexation in them, causing him to loudly sigh and rub his eyes with both hands after they left.

"By the Tao Trio, I know Nathan is about as stubborn and obstinate as they come for a boy of his age, but if he can't accept our own advice or compromise with us without that much mulish difficulty or taking a sullen attitude, then how can we expect to effectively cooperate with one another? *Sighs* We'll just have to do as we always have, then: learn to work with or around him and his choices as necessary, however much I loathe such measures are required...."

His voice is muttered by his hands, but it should be loud enough for both Shiva and Heart to clearly hear.

Ventus simply gave a nod of his head and a kind smile towards his most blessed girlfriend as she conveyed her request, electing to record a voice message before he went to bed detailing Shiva's plans and sending it to the boy. Then, and only then, did the researcher depart towards his shared room with his cherished lover, ready to put that stressful and unpleasant meeting behind him and rest for the group's upcoming expedition tomorrow.....

*Flaaaaaashback End!*

Morning of Day 56

After waking up at the crack of dawn and going through the now comfortable morning routine/breakfast with Shiva ('Oh I love it when she greets me with a smile'), Ventus bid temporary farewell to his fae fancy as he departed to the Cress City Pokemart to make his purchases, waiting just long enough for Heart to tag along with him (Ergo, this is your chance to have a conversation with Ventus, @Spiritmon !). Once he arrived and discovered that Digging Equipment was going to prove more costly than he first suspect, the researcher to make a small change to his purchase list: he was going to forgo buying a Great Ball and instead purchase two Pickaxes, along with purchasing 3 Potions, 3 Pokeballs, 1 Super Potion, 1 Antidote, and 2 Repels for a total cost of ( (200*6) [Potions and Pokeball Price = 200] + (700 * 2 [Super Potion + Two Pickaxes cost)+ (400*2 [Repels) + 100 = 1200 + 1400 + 800 + 100 ) = $3500 Poke , leaving him with only $2435 Poke remaining. Between contributing to the Mr. Finder Fee Fund and purchasing supplies the Poke he got from selling Chandelure has dwindled almost nill, which annoyed his fiscal/frugal side greatly, but he rationalized that 'Better to spend and be prepared, then don't and not be....'

The researcher then meet up with the rest of the group wherever location they pre-ordained , ready and willing to begin their expedition!

Current Party Line Up: Raphael, Apsis, Michael, Malphena, Lucifer, Abaddon; may be subject to change depending on whether or not Nathan changes his mind about including the Combee and allows Ventus to look after Ditto.

Order: Offer some last criticisms, record a message to Nathan detailing Shiva's plan, make the purchases described and have a flashback conversation with Heart, then meet up with the rest of the group along with Mr. Finder and head into Mt. Sentry! Lucifer will be out and flying about in the caves for now, serving as both a scout and looking for anything interesting, while Ven stays close to Shiva for obvious reasons. Eeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk! Shiva's incredibly startled as she ends up getting a call at this time of the day and almost drops the cell as she withdraws it and answers the call. As soon as Golda's familar and liked voice greets her and asks her to be alone to continue, she visibly relaxes and makes a swift departure to a quiet and lonely corner of the center among the other PCs, unused by people at this time of the day.

True story, she checks her PC the time Golda explains, and seeing her dear waterly Eeveelution and an Egg among the other Pokemon she deposited there allured a smile that was practically dripping of delight and anticipation. "Th....Thank you, many thanks, both of you! I...well...I know that Eevee take longer than usual to hatch. But, please excuse me for being sentimental or over-careful, but I'd rather not carry an Egg containing a valuable Pokemon with me on a trip that has a high chance to involve c...climbing *slight shiver at that thought*, fighting a ton of Pokemon we may meet and these SCIMITARS *audible anger in her voice at the mentioning of them*, and I won't have a Fire Type with me anyway in the team I'll pack. However, I gladly take Dizzy, thank you for entrusting me with him, really!"

True, Shiva will probably keep him outside of his special Pokeball as soon as the group's underground, and play+interact with him during breaks and similar. She knows to better not bond with this young Absol too much, as it's a Pokemon with a particular and definitely dangerous task and bidding farewell to it one way or the other will be bittersweet, but she can at least contribute to the wellbeing and happiness of this young Desaster Pokemon as long as it's with her/the group. She'll take him with her as soon as she swaps her party to her final team after shopping.

Fine. With that cleared and noted, Shiva ends up buying the following items at the Department Store:

Medical Supplies
- 1 Max Potion, as agreed by the group
- 1 Super Potion and a regular Potion
- 2 Antidotes

In total that costs her 3600$ if I can trust my papernotes from yesterday, substracted from funds and added to Inventory. She's feeling incredibly lucky that she didn't have to worry about her funds before, but now after she spend a lot of money in the Violet Tent and for the stay at the B&B, she does and will probably have to find a job soon to raise her cash a little more.

Food and other supplies:
- Another package of the pirsif-berry cookies she usually feeds to her Pokemon, they're edible for humans as well. Enjoyable sweet taste.
- Two packages of the dried berry assortment she usually offers her Pokemon as a snack among the meals, edible for humas as well. Full of vitamins.
- A few packages of nuts and seeds of various type, as well as dried fruit. If available, dried vegetables as well.
- Two granola bars for everyone, because they were recommended during long trips in the wild by the internet.
- Same with instant noodles of various flavour.
- Same with chocolate.
- Also, vitamin pills.
These are all in reasonable amount and RP-items, so they'll probably cost 0$.

Once that has been wrapped up, back to Cress City she teleports, where she thanks Helios with a fond hug for his help if he allows, before she heavy-hearted places him back onto Bill's PC and swaps the her Team for the final batch of Pokemon for the trip: It's Cottonee/Azumarill/Poochyena (Yena)/Furret/Tropius/Gothitelle ([Black Moon] Lilith) and the Infiltrator-Absol.

Then, she eagerly heads onward to the meeting point Mr. Finder told her about, where she'll meet the others. Mr. Finder also received the 2000$ for his services that Ventus gave her, the rest of cash+expenses are a matter of Nathan and Valder.

Note, Shiva will also constantly wear her Ranger's Cloak on the trip unless I state otherwise, that means she's under the effect of her Cleanse Tag and Eternally Gold.

(Oh, almost forgot!)

As soon as the group has entered Mount Sentry, Shiva does rather carefully draw that League Authority Pokeball from her stuff, take a curious look at it while having a thoughtful expression, before she takes a deep breath and eventually summons that Infiltrator-Absol to her side, alongside her Furret that will stay outside his Safari Ball as well unless I state otherwise. Hey, he knows the mountain, so he is asked to scout ahead alongside Ventus's Noibat if the bat is fine with his company.

If Dizzy allows, Shiva does knee down to be around eyelevel with him to carefully stroke over her white fur covering his head as a greeting, carefully avoiding the darkblue horn of his. The tone in which she spoke to the Infiltrator was a calm and somewhat serious one. "Well, hello young one! You remember me and are aware of your task to accompany me during this trip into the mountain, do you? That means, for now I'm responsible for your wellbeing, to some degree at least. You know best what to do in battles and...dangerous situations according to those that have hatched and trained you, so I'll trust in you concerning these matters. I'd like you to stick close to me unless you have reason to do otherwise and warn us all in gestures (bristling his fur/looking upset etc.) or audible signs (crying/growling etc.) when you feel like something's amiss, is that alright?"
