Snivy nods. He thumps his chest with stubby arms, showing how self-reliant he is.

"...wh-what if you could only do it if you had the help of others, though?"

"...I'm s-sorry...maybe I shouln't be asking these questions of you...it's just...I've been thinking a lot about them myself...I was asked by...someone important to find a way to stop those vines I keep mentioning...and...I couldn't do it on my own...well, I had my pokemon friends too, but..."

"...I don't know...I guess I...k-kinda saw what you did with that vine earlier and thought maybe you'd be able to help me too...those Cl-claydol are still up there, after all, and a good, strong Grass type like yourself would be great for facing them...not to mention the poetic irony of taking them down with v-vine based attacks...they n-need to be taken down...what they tried to do w-wasn't good for both n-nature and the region as a wh-whole..."

Gonna level up Empathy to 2 for 6 exp!  Let's see if we can't get Snivy to join the cause, shall we?

Heart strides up to the Ferroseed and challenges them to a battle. They descend on sticky vines and look ready to spar.

Heart send then Rose and Patrat to the battlefield. "Alright you two! Time to bring some powerful moves to the battlefield! Rose! Use Flare Blitz against Ferroseed (A) but hold you Lethal Damage and then use Close Combat and Mach Punch against the second one! And hold you burning power (reduce Burn 2 to 1)"

"Patrat! Bite three times against the one with less HP! If any of you guy goth to much hurt I use a potion!"

Flare Blitz Accuracy: Dex (3) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - Actions (3) = 6D6
Damage: Power (5) + STR (3) + STAB (1) + Double SE (2) = 9D6+2
Effect: Lethal (hold). Chance to cause Burn 2.

Close Combat Accuracy: Dex (3) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - Actions (4) = 5D6
Damage: Power (5) + STR (3) + STAB (1) + Black Belt (1) + SE (1) = 10D6+1
Effect: Reduce user defense.

Bite Accuracy: Dex (3) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - Actions (3/4/5) = 6d6/5d6/4d6
Damage: Power (2) + STR (3) = 5D6
Effect: 3d6 to Flinching.

Snivy gives you a knowing look, and hops onto your shoulder for now. He gestures up the tunnel - he's got something to show you later.

Patrat: (5) + 6 = 11
Rose: (4) +6 = 10
Ferroseed A (4) + 2 Dex + 2 Survival = 8
Ferroseed B (3) = 7

Ferroseed Round 1

Bite 1
(5)(4)(6)(3)(2)(2)
(1)(3) No damage as Patrat clamps his jaws onto the steely Pokemon. But the spikes hurt!
(6) Patrat takes 1 dmg
Flinch: (2)(3)(3)

Flare Blitz 1
(4)(2)(1)(2)(2)(4)
(4)(6)(5)(6)(2)(3) Ferroseed A faints
Recoil: (6)(2)(4)(6)
Iron Barbs: (1) Rose takes 3 dmg 6/9hp
Burn: (4)(1)(3) I still dont' know whether to use the move description or the icon for whether this is three chance dice or one. Icons probably trump description?

Pin Missile 1, 2, 3 - a hail of steel thorns falls on Patrat!
2 dex + 3 Fight + 2 canalize -1 acc = 3/2/1 dice
(5)(3)(1)
(5)(4)
(5) Hit 3 times!
(3), (4), (3) [/b]Patrat takes 1 dmg[/b] 5/7hp

Bite 2
(2)(2)(6)(5)
(2)(3)
Iron barb: (4) Patrat takes 1 dmg 4/7hp
Flinch: (2)(2)(4)

Close Combat 2
(3)(3)(3)(5)
(3)(6)(5)(4)(2)(1)(5) Ferroseed B takes 5 dmg 1/6hp -3 pain.
Iron barb: (4) Rose takes 1 dmg 5/9hp
Rose spikes the Ferroseed like the winning touchdown pass. It fires one last hail of thorns and starts rolling away in the aftermath. Rose can send it on its way with a kick, probably fainting it, if you order her to.

Rose, Patrat, and Heart gain 2xp.

Well, that's not what I was expecting to happen.

Nathan nods in agreement to the plan...and shivers.

"...s-sorry, but...if ya want to r-ride on my shoulder, you're g-gonna have to be cl-close to Sw-swiftfire.  I p-promise sh-she won't burn you if you do, though.  Or you c-could ride on my Grass type Skiddo instead if you l-like.  I l-live n-near a v-volcano, so I'm not really used to the c-cold.  That's why I'm staying cl-close to the f-fire."

Aside from that, we've got a green light for continuing onwards from my end!

Heart quite have enough. "I think it's enough for now. We don't need to fight anymore. The spikes already cause some pain. Gonna ask Nathan later to use Ralts heal to heal you two." Heart look to the survived Ferroseed. "You two have fight well. Gonna send your friend to the pokemon center to get threat. And maybe he will able to evolve to a powerful Ferrothorn. Also Ferroseed, take this." Heart search his bag and put a sweet root in the ground close to Ferroseed. "This is Sweet Root. It's a healing fruit who exist in a certain place called Arrowroot village. It's a nice place for a Grass Pokemon. You can use it to heal yourself after our battle."

Heart then looks to the faint Ferroseed and decided this one gonna be send to the pokemon center to be threat. Cluster will have some company.

Mechanic: Try to befriend the Ferroseed and capture the other one to send to the pokecenter. One pokeball.

Pokeball: (1)(6) vs (1) Ferroseed was caught!

0/0/0 for Disobedience
Iron Barbs
Rollout, Metal Claw, Pin Missile, Gyro Ball

Empathy: Normally a wounded Pokemon gets a bonus to its Will when resisting Empathy, but since these Ferroseed wanted to spar and you're healing them, I'll waive that rule.

(3)(6)(6)(6) vs (2)(5)(1)(6)(2)

The unfainted Ferroseed bites into the Sweetroot and recovers its strength. It clamps onto the ceiling again and starts swiveling this way and that, looking for more threats.

As you continue, the tunnel becomes hairier and hairier. Roots now cover every surface, often weaving over each other and creating quite the tripping hazard. Now and then, you see one move.

You come to a fork. Slurpuff and Snivy both gesture to the left fork. To the right fork you can see the glint of a gem in the half-darkness, nestled between hairy vines.

Down the left tunnel, a chime sounds every now and then, and the tolling of bells.

Before having visited this tunnel, Shiva would have never thought that plant roots could be scary. Now though, she was sure that they CAN be exactly that, whenever she caught one moving she shivered and wrapped her arms a bit closer around the jar with glowing fern.

That jingling of bells however.... Something about that sound was familiar to her, and with a curious frown she stops midway. Yena by her side halts as well, perks up and stares into the direction where the tolling came from. She's sure she knows this particular ring, but yet she's unable to determine certainly what's causing it - it sounds different than a Soothe Bell does, yet not much. Soothe Bell.... In a swift movement, her Gothitelle is summoned her side. "Lilith", she adresses her beloved Pokemon right away, "Do you too hear these chime sounds? You're still having this Soothe Bell I once gave you? Please ring it a little - I'd like to know whether whatever is making these sounds, is responding to it."

-----------------
Mechanics:
Do they? And if so, is Shiva able to roughly determine how many Chimecho there are before possibly encountering them?
