Darn, though that nearly getting blown up would have been punishment enough for going off alone on his own, but apparently not! Bad things happen to those that split the group, and in this case I find it totally justified!

If things didn't go boom and Nathan tried to lecture them, it wouldn't have work most likely, as he would point out he gave everyone advance warning and that he has ample experience in taking care of himself in wild/hostile environment, and would point out he had gave them/himself several markers to lead them/him back to each other. He'd try to be understanding and patient about the lecture, but by no means would he feel getting chewed out for his decision was entirely necessary/warrented.

Well, Nathan WAS going to fire off a rather...passionate speech in Ventus's direction for leaving everyone (and Raphael!!!) behind to chase after a Shedinja, something he could easily acquire elsewhere by catching a common Nincada...

If he was going to bring that up, Ven would mention how extraoridinarily rare it is for a Shedinja to be created from a cast of Nincada's shell (Remember, Iron said its not a garenteed deal in his campaign), that trading for one would be outrageously expense because of said rarity, and that he wanted THAT one specifically because it came from the now Ninjask he helped evolve and then catched peacefully. That, and he would say that Raphael requested they explore the Central Fern cavern rather than move on with them, and so he decided to leave them in Shiva's care after they were through delivering those messages.

In short, arguing with Ven about his actions wouldn't have been very effective, as he has several rationalizations/defenses to his credit. If possible, he's STILL going to chase after it, though he's going to be far more careful and ansty about it. Shedinja doom aura is indeed effective.....

Also, what the heck happened to Malphena? Wasn't she affected by the boom Iron?

Shiva's probably got VERY similar reasons for lecturing Ventus, though.  However strong Ventus's arguments may be, getting nailed for the same reasons from multiple sources isn't going to help his standpoint any.

*6 Defense thanks to the Evolite she's wearing, so she only takes 2 Damage! Also, those dice are whimsical , helping me one moment only to curse me the next!

Shiva's probably got VERY similar reasons for lecturing Ventus, though.  However strong Ventus's arguments may be, getting nailed for the same reasons from multiple sources isn't going to help his standpoint any.

He'd stick to his guns no matter what, but he'd become more sullen and discontent about being lectured instead of tolerant/accepting. Probably just simply continue staying mostly to himself until things fully blow over, so as not to make things worse for himself/let things cool off.

No, not quite.

I didn't say they were exactly the same.  I said they were likely to be similar.  The whole 'unnecessary risk' part is a big part of the reasoning here.
