Her head practically jerked to Nathan as he revealed what this intriguing gift was, and without even knowing it, her speaking has become a whispering. "That.... is one of the truely legendary HMs, sought out in Chreshire for their unique power? How.... And why.... And how did it came here...?"
She can't help it - reaching out, she HAD to touch the floating glass cylinder with only the lightest touch of her fingertip, as if assuring that this wasn't an illusion. Curiosity killed the cat, but curiosity also meant learning.
It's real, and it sends an electric tingling up your arm.

Or at least provide you some form of comfort as you travel these tunnels, if I or the others of my group can't help."
"Ventus...normally my men and I are slain whenever the Sableye find us. We die our gruesome deaths over and over. Disemboweled by shadows. Our bones gnawed by sharp teeth. Our bodies wasting away, dwindling, and starvation taking us even as our flesh fills the Sableye.
You have provided more comfort this day than we could ever wish for. It is enough."
His brother pipes up. "There ain't nothing to be done for us specters. We know we shall wander these tunnels, until the world changes. Excerskisms, in-scents, true names, they ain't every worked and they never shall. We thank you for offering, though."
*Flashback!*
Ventus expression grows grim as he hears they typical fate of Captain Bridge and his men, and the brother's kindly dashing any hopes left him feeling hollow and forloan. However, he refused to let him be crippled by the horribleness that was their geas and demoralize them in the process, instead offering them a solemn nod and staring each and every soldier in the eye, his own filled with hopeful determination for them all.
This naturally lead to his others comments, and the only possible advice/aid (The Songs and Poetry) he could offer the men.
*Flashback End!*

We shall try your idea, though I expect we may be beyond such things. It cannot hurt. We shall leave you now. The sight of my gift brings unpleasant memories."
He cups Shedinja in his palms and places the weird bug on the wall. He and his men salute one last time and vanish as mist rises up again.
He watched the doomed soldiers fade away from sight, returning their salute with a crisp one of his own as he gave one last farwel to them all.
"Stand tall, my friends. May you all find salvation somday....."
While Azumaril and Michael were busy removing the boulder from Captain's Bridge treasure trove, Ventus approach the Shedinja , looking both anxious and hopeful as he address them, crossing a arm on his chest and bowing his head.
"Shedinja, I would like to thank you for the good word you offered for my shake, for if it wasn't for that I have no doubt Captain Bridge or his men would not have look so kindly upon all of us. Now, I have you know I have been pursuing you since we first 'meet' , as I have an ardent interest in you and your species. The later is because so little is known about Shedinja, and the former.....well, I simply feel a connection between us since I am in some way responsible for your very existence. So I would like to ask......would you be willing to join my family? I promise that I will take great care of you like the rest of my Pokémon, and will accept you wholy and completely regardless of any nebulous qualities you posses. What do you say, Shedinja?"
Order: Give one last good bye to Bridge and Co, and then ask if Shedinja is willing to join Ventus's team/family. Simple said, and hopefully simple done.
Empathy: (4)(5)(2)(1)(5)(6) +1 = 5
Will: (2)(3)(2)(4)(5)(2)(2) = 2
Shedinja releases the wall and bobs slowly up and down, a dramatic gesture from a Pokemon who normally holds so still. It has no expression at all, it hardly registers in your senses as a life form, but you think it would be happy to learn with you.
Shedinja was caught!

Nathan looks very closely at it...does it look like it can be removed from its location?
After his short conversation and offer to Shedinja, Ventus directed his attention towards where the rest of the group was gathered around the treasure, his natural curiosity overshadowing his mournful feelings for the Ghost Brigade already leading him to find out just what treasure those soldiers had hidden away all this time.
Taking one good look at device and looking through his memory when it struck him as familar, he was completely blown away to discover that it indeed the Legendary HM Rock Smash, with Nathan's comment about it all but sealing the deal!
"Zekrom's Lighting of Belief, your right. Fate must have been cruel indeed to present this to Captain Bridge's company when it was far to late for it to save them..... Well, at the very least we can put it good utilization when they couldn't, so let us take this and use it in all their memory!"

Ventus has no problems with the young scholar carrying the HM, as he knew with their deep appreciation for the past that the borderline mystical contraption was in well kept in their possession.
"I have no objections to you being responsible for it, Nathan. Before you put it away and we move on, though....."
The researcher then turns to glance at his brother Michael, who was no doubt looking at the HM with an awed, captivated look like all other.
" May I use it to teach my brother Rock Smash? In fact, we should all teach whatever Pokémon is capable of learning the Move ASAP, as it will prove invaluable in clearing our way through the remainder of Mt. Sentry depths...."
Order: Ask Nathan if he could use the HM to teach Michael Rock Smash, and suggest everyone teach whatever Pokémon is capable the Move!

(I think Solomon should be able to learn the move since Slowking can in the games. @ Iron, am I correct in the assumption that we'll be following the listings on Bulbapedia for teaching HMs? If so, Yule and Calam (and Dizzy) could learn it too. And a bunch of Nathan's other pokemon, but those 3 are the ones we have on hand from Nathan's pool of pokemon currently. That list would also include Mr. Finder's Growlithe, too, and I wouldn't complain about giving him the ability to use it as additional thanks for his help/apologizing for getting him in such a dangerous situation)

Ventus nods his head twice in response, before waiting his turn to teach however many of his Pokémon the move, with the first one being Michael, obviously!

Rock Smash
Dex + Fight + Brawl
Str + 4
Roll 5 chance dice to reduce foe's Defense
Can be learned by any Pokemon on this extensive list, either by leveling up or by TM/HM.
Instantly destroys stone or ice less than 500 cubic feet. Deals its (supereffective) damage to rocks greater than 500 cubic feet. (That's roughly 15 cubic meters, or four cubic Blastoise).
The HM simply straps on to the Pokemon in a few locations, rumbles a bit, and they learn the move!

Alright! So, here's who we have on hand that can learn it!
- Solomon (I bet he's gonna LOVE this)
- Shiva's Furret
- Raphael
- Azu
- Mamo
- Yena
- Michael
- Tropius
- Calam and Dizzy
- Rose
- Koa
- Viktor
- Theo
- Turiel (now she can be even better at digging!)
- Yule (though he's KOed right now, so that might have to wait a little bit)
If you don't want one of your pokemon to learn Rock Smash, simply say so!
I decided to also list on some of my paper notes all of our other pokemon that can learn it when we return to the surface, but that can wait until we get there. However, I will note one thing for @ Nylon: Haunter would need to evolve into Gengar first before he could learn the move. Up to you if you want to evolve him, though!

Solomon does love Rock Smash! He goes around smashing nuggets of ice. He also uses his Hidden Power on one of the rocks he's Smashed: instead of creating Unown letters, it creates a unique Unown you've never seen before. It seems to specifically depict Rock Smash - it's a crude fist shape with a half-closed eye. Still angular in the style of the Elder.
+1 Happiness for Slowking
Dizzy and Calam confer privately. Calam will learn the move, but Dizzy will not.
