[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

At that comment, Terra couldn't help but frown and shake his head.

"No. I travel by foot, or by river when able. Never one to been in a hurry, so that worked out fine. Hmm....*Looks down at the portfolio, and leaves through it* Ah. Ventus said you are fast, and have several fast Pokémon that are.....'able to transport multiple people swiftly and expediently. …May I hitch a ride with you to the outskirts of town?"

He says the last part with a certain amount of reservation and timidness, as he wasn't sure if he was over imposing on them or not. Great as his desire to fight Nathan was, he didn't want to overstep polite boundaries and alienate someone....again.

Contrary to one might expect, the rugged wanderer let out a deep, booming chuckle at the collecter's puns, shaking his head in plain amusement.

"Heh.....good jokes."

He then extended a hand to Heart for a handshake, a light smile present on his face.

"Thank you. Like people with a good sense of humor, so we will get along well. Friends?"

Well, that was quick and direct.....just like him, really.

Terra seemed slightly surprised at Shiva's own praise for being so prompt and punctual, as he didn't think all that much of getting up early and waiting around for his charges, but he just decided to accept it with a nod. If she wanted to compliment him on for wanting to introduce himself towards them all, the he'll let her and not make a big deal of it.

Another nod was given at the pretty lady's optimism at avoiding getting into mishaps that would require dragging her out of them, along with a sigh of relief. The less he has to worry about his charges and (hopefully) future friends getting into danger, the better for ALL of them....

However, he politely shook his head in disagreement at her assumption of Genie's Typing, though he knew that she couldn't have possibly know that and therefore thought nothing of the mistake in identity.

"Not a Fairy, but she likes being compared to them....considers it a compliment. *Closes his eyes and nods his head, before resuming staring at Shiva* Will introduce her to you two later, when you are not busy. I feel like you all would get along really well. Only if that is alright with you two, though."

The last part was said in semi-rush and with a somewhat self chastising experssion, as if he only remember that springing a meeting on someone without their agreement was.....hastily and impolite. Hopefully he wasn't being too forward or direct with someone...again.

Her offer to battle him tomorrow morn and trade contact details cleared away such embarrassment immediately, however, as her gave her a small smile and offered his hand to shake on it.

"That is fine. I promise it will be a good match between us, no matter how it is....conducted. Thank you, Shiva. "

Pulling out his Pokedex from on of his pants many pockets, he looked up the number after a bit of fiddling with it with almost adorable befuddlement, before looking at her and rattling it off to her and she presumable did the same. There, they both have each other's numbers now! One step closer to doing his given duties well, and perhaps becoming a good friend too someday.

He then lets her go to do whatever she had planned for her day before he dropped in her life, and awaited for the others group member to get up so he can introduce himself to them...

"Yeah, I've got some mounts.  I think you might be a bit...bigger and heavier than what they're used to carrying, though.  No offense intended.  A Rapidash might be able to hold you, but I'm not sure I would be able to ride her at the same time as you without stressing her unnecessarily...and I'd rather not reveal my cards early since I know very little about the cards you have, if you catch my drift."

"Also, what are the rules for this battle you'd like to do?  Fairly important details, those.  Would be nice to know them so I can pick my pokemon accordingly."

Judging by the confusion on his face when you tossed out that phrase at him, the herculian man did not catch your drift.

"None taken. What do cards have to do with hitching a ride, though? I don't have any myself, besides ones from my parents. If you do not want to give me a mount, that is fine. Walking in and out of the city is no trouble for me, and I can follow you to good battle grounds."

When asked about the terms of combat, Terra laped into thoughtful silence again (which often involved stroaking his bread and/or closing his eyes in contemplation), until a moment later he broke it by calmly and seriously declaring them in such a way that implied he's had years of experience in doing such.

"6V6 or 3V3 Single Battle. Our Pokémon battle until either one is Fainted, and the winner it the last one with unFainted Pokemon. No Sleep, No Items except the ones held by our Pokemon, No Switching, OHKO, or Evasion Altering Moves, and we get time before the battle to prep our Pokémon however we want. Those are my terms of battle. I want to test you, and I want to be tested. Are those acceptable?"

He crosses his arms and stares at you, and patiently waits your response.

Stares....

Nathan takes a breath, lets it out to let some of the stress go, and responds just as patiently.

"It's a figure of speech.  Likening cards to the pokemon we're choosing for the battle.  I've got lots to choose from, but if we're hitching a ride out of the city on my pokemon and away from the PC, then I'll have spoiled what one one or two of the pokemon I'll be using are.  Walking's fine, though, I suppose.  Don't have to go too far, after all, and I've done a fair amount of walking over the years."

"...well, someone certainly knows their way around professional rules, though the no switching one isn't commonly used.  Color me impressed.  Let's do a 6v6 then.  'Course, if we're battling until fainting, we'll also definitely be walking back regardless of whether I bring any mounts...and I assume 'prepping our pokemon' does not include buffing them with moves preemptively?"

An 'Ooooooooooh' look appeared on the rugged wander's face as you carefully re-explained things to him, before he rubbed the back of his head and briefly looks away.

"Oh......sorry. I'm…not that good with phrases....sayings...double meanings.....all sorts of complicated speech. Forgive me for my.....ignorance."

He looked embarrassed about this for a moment, before he slowly recomposed himself and continued, trying to pretend like nothing happened.

"Fair enough. Only have 6 Pokemon myself, but I've worked with less partners for most my life. We both walk to the battlefield, and if you get tired I can carry you back and forth, no problem. Walked and swam across Hoen with heavier burdens, so its no trouble for me."

He nods his head to himself, as if sealing the deal on that arrangement. As for compliment his knowledge over the rules of battling, Terra just shrugs.

"Been a Trainer since I was thirteen, or about a....decade or so, and I've trained, traveled, and Survived across my home's wilds all that time, so I've become good at Fighting with Pokemon."

He say this plainly and without arrogance or hint of bragging, as if it was just a matter of fact statement. Which, to the simple, blunt, and honest man, it was.

"Hmm....we will not be using Direct Attribute Boosting moves on our Pokémon before the battle, if that is what you mean. If that is your only....concern, I will let you get ready while I go outside to do so myself. Alright?"

…Aaaaand the staring commences once more....

Nathan shrugs.  "No need to apologize."

Nathan leans back in his chair.

"...to be perfectly honest, I think this is going to be a welcome distraction.  Looking forward to seeing what you've brought over from Hoenn.  I've heard it's a nice place."

Nathan stands.  "Well, I'm going to go pick out my 6 pokemon now.  And I need to make some purchases at the Violet Tent.  I'll meet ya in front of this Center when I'm done."

I'll edit Nathan's pokemon choices on the Quickpage and decide what the first pokemon out will be in the morning.  Can't do it right now since I'm on mobile, unfortunately.

As for the purchases Nathan is making...well, the first thing he's going to do is sell all those gems he got from Mt. Sentry for the total of $4100 (3000 + 300 + 800).  And then he'll purchase some Magic Beans (1200), Itching Powder (400), and a TM for Telekinesis that will be taught to Gallade (2800). Total Spent: $4400.  Net Loss of a mere $300.  That should be good for now...he can consider other purchases later, once he finds someone to sell the Big Bullion to.  Regardless of whether he actually uses these items in this battle, he was planning on purchasing them anyways for future usage.

So, with all that out of the way (minus deciding which 6 pokemon I wish to bring exactly), Nathan meets Terra outside the Center and they can go find a battlefield outside town.  Gallade is still out, so that is one pokemon of the 6 revealed already.  If Terra finds that at all odd after Nathan just made a big deal of revealing 'cards' early, Gallade just shrugs and Nathan responds with, "He and I are never far apart.  Plus, he only just evolved last night, so he wants to get some practice in before we challenge the Gym Leader."

The rugged wanderer looks somewhat relieved he hadn't offended Nathan, as that meant his mild ineptitude with social inaction hadn't totally screwed the Poocheyena. Far too many times he'd said or did the wrong thing to a person in good faith, and ended up ostrizied or in there bad graces. He took it all with embarrassment and humility, and tried to learn from his mistakes, but every so often he just....slips up.

"I am looking forward to our battle too, for I have heard.....many a great thing about you from Ventus. *Wistfully smiles at the praise directed to his homeland* Yes, it is. If you want and are interested, I can share stories of my journeys across it. It is always nice to....remine-remine-remember home in good company...."

"...Later, though. Right now, we prepare for our battle. "

After listening to Nathan's comment after he stand, Terra nods his own in response and rose up from his seat since the first time entered the Pokémon Center. Before, he was already apparent that he was big, but now he towered over the boy and his Gallade, and it was utterly clear he fit the moniker 'Large and in Charge.'

He didn't give of an intimidating aura while striking an imposing figure to most, though. Strange....or not.

"I will. See you then and on the battlefield, Nathan Warren."

With that said, he turned and exited the Pokémon Center, his footsteps making heavy and sharp *clanking* noises as he went. For the first time, you notice he's wearing simple wooden sandles, which looked crudely made but quite serviceable; must have made them himself. Huh...

During the time that Nathan is doing his own shopping and preparations, Terra is doing his own, which I will be PMing to Iron ASAP. Since I only have Six Pokémon with Terra, those are what I will be using for this most likely EPIC fight!

Transition: On the Battlefield

Terra doesn't find it odd at all that Gallade is right beside them, as he both instinctually understand they are THAT close together, and that the boy + the knight seem eager to have a fight, especially the later. However, he DOES find it unfair that he has this advantage, as he considers himself a good and honorable fighter (when he can afford to be, that is), and so after mulling things over (*Commence Beard Stroaking*), he nods to himself and then solemnly declares to Nathan this:

"Since you have revealed your most trusted Pokémon to me before the battle, it is only fair that I do the same. Bear witness to my first Pokémon and brother in spirit, Nathan and Gallade."

Saying this, he deftly pluck one regular yet positively old looking Pokeball hanging off his belt, tossed it up and down a couple times in the air, before calmly catching it and smoothly depressing the button in one go.

A burst of light was spat out by the capture device right beside him, which rapidly grew to a large and rotund size, until the form fully coelested into none other than a Hariyama!

"Shiranui, this is Nathan, our current opponent and new companion. Show them and their Gallade what the fruits of over a decade of training looks like," Terra said as he looked at them with simple pride and a smile, before thudding them on the back and motioning for them to take their place forward.

Immediately they SMASHED their great big fist together and let out an uproarish and booming laugh that echoed throughout the battlefield at their brother in spirit's declaration, looking both quite jovial AND excited at having at the opportunity to battle as they stepped forward. One that, judging by the power he felt off the boy and his strange Pokémon, he didn't have to hold back much at all!

Oh, and is that a Psychic type he's using against him? Even better, for he LOVES a good challenge, and nothing says it like fighting at a disadvantage!!!

"Send out your first Pokémon, and then we can begin."

There they stood, Terra standing tall and with his arms crossed, and Shiranui unabashedly grinning at the competition.

Something tell Nathan they were in for a real treat.

The curiosity and eager to meet that faelike not-fary has not been decreased if one could trust that mild smile that remained in Shiva's soft features. Cottonee though looked like she wasn't getting a thing, a Pokemon that is like a fairy but doesn't bear the energies of a Fairy Type????? H-How??!! When the fluffball looked up to her sweet Master, she only found her shaking her head in the means of 'no big deal'. Usually Shiva is careful and might take such directness down the wrong pipe as it clashes a bit with her attitude of being respectful, but she got the feeling Terra by no means meant it...well, in a way that she would feel offended. "That doesn't matter, I'd still be happy to meet her. Later is fine, maybe late afternoon or early evening (when she'll be back from a trip to Stair City?) No rush though, depending how busy...YOU are as well."

Very carefully Shiva did take his hand, and was immediately impressed how big it was compared to her own.

He owns a PokeDex already, how practical! Shiva does save his number in BOTH cell and Almanac. This way if one of them is malfunctioning she could still call him.

An honest "Thank You", "Have a pleasant morning then" and "We may probably see one another again" later Shiva presumed where she stopped before Cottonee escaped her. Along the way she felt like while this was an uncommon start into a new day it was positive one, hopefully Ventus was...proud of her over such a pleasant first interaction wherever he currently roamed.

I picked out some music too!  (I find it ironic that it has lots of trumpets in it Tongue It totally wasn't intentional, I picked this out before Terra confirmed he was from Hoenn, honest!)
An Introduction by Combat: VS Ronald Remix by BlueJackG - Pokemon TCG

Gallade eyes that worn down pokeball that Terra's handling.  Nods knowingly at the trainer and his pokemon.  Nothing like having a trusted companion for years to come.

Nathan's smiling in eager anticipation, ready to toss out his first pokemon.  He has a good feeling that this is gonna be a fun battle.  "Alright, let's see what you can do, big guy."

(Alright, decided on my lineup of 6 pokemon and edited the Quickpage accordingly! Let's see how this goes.)

Once finished, she beckons Raphael to her side, having a carefully welcoming expression on her face. How is the archangel doing and how does he react to HER being the one having summoned and feeded him? Ven said he knows, but....

Yes, he understood that this would happen. He seems a little disappointed, more than anything - not in Shiva, you understand, but that Ventus didn't reach redemption under his care.

He shakes himself, and you can see he's decided there are some things he can teach Shiva as they journey together.
