[Game] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure: Celadon City Vandel

That indeed more than does the trick, as your kaa-san almost snapped her hand containing the Pokeball right at you as she whirled around to confront that odd yet strangely familiar voice, her face perfectly composed yet her eyes hard as diamonds and filled with fire....!

…which was all immediately erased as she found herself staring right at you, an expression of pure surprise, disbelief, and yet....a certain amount of desperate hopefulness as she slowly began to realize what was happening too...

"......My little dragon? ….Reiner? Is that.....is that really you? This....this isn't just some.....dream of mine...……?"

Her voice was the barest quaver as she continued to stare at you, her empty hand involuntarily making the motions to move up and touch your face, as if to try to dispel this crippling uncertainty that swaddled her, and allow herself to let herself feel the almost visceral joy and relief flood her at finally being reunited with her son at long last.....!

Do you let her? Or do you have something else in mind to prove that this wasn't just any old dream of hers?

Yeah, Reiner lets her.  And then subsequently hugs her for the follow up to seal the deal.

"...yeah, it's me.  And that's you...heh...damn this strange, strange week...heh heh...dreaming the same dream and being able to talk to each other during it...oddest thing to happen so far, let me tell you..."

...

"...yeah, it's still a dream, and it'll be back to our daily lives when it's all said and done...but I'm still not gonna let that stop me."

"It's great to see you again after four years, kaa-san."

Amost dropping her Pokeball when you embraced her, your kaa-san was briefly thrown into a state of shock as it became the definite Truth that yes, it was really happening somehow, that she was being reunited with and held by her most precious thing in the world...!

It didn't last for too long, for she promptly returned your hug with nearly back breaking force, clutching onto you with all the pent up and forlorn motherly love that had accumulated over these long years of your exiles as she sobbed in pure relief and near frantic joy. It doesn't look like she's about to let go of you anytime soon, too.

"Oh my baby dragon, you've return to me. You're alive. Even if....Even if its only for the briefest sliver of time, we are together again at long last! I don't know which of the Gods above or below responsible for this, so I will thank them all! Thank you thank you thank you."

'Everyone' primarily being Reiner's father and Yuuka's fierce little Eevee [got a good nickname for the fierce little guy, Windos?].  And Yuuka herself, obviously.

"Ha Ha Ha.....Yes, my little dragon. Far too long indeed....."

After she managed to thoroughly drench your uniform and vented the worst of her repressed anxiety/love, kaa-san finally let you go (to the immense relief of your spine) and took a few steps back to get a better look at you, her eye full of joy but with just a hint of melancholic sadness in them.

"You've....grown so much in so little time. I know life has been....rough on us all these past years, but you look so.....mature and....weather now, Reiner."

The same could be said for her too: you spotted several grew hairs interspersed in her vibrant and luscious weave, and wrinkle/stress lines were now an everpresent part of her face, though most of them were covered up with makeup or foundations. Despite that, she still looked as radient and stunning as ever, but these past years of your exile had been hard on both of you, it seems....

"Still....you'll always be my little dragon, no matter what has happened or how much time has passed. Whomever your new friend is, I'd like to meet them and personally thank them for keeping you safe. ….Assuming we all are re-united in the waking world someday as well, of course."

Her expression turned troubled and sad at that, reminded of the fact that this meeting, while real, was only temporary at best unless both choose to dream forever more. Which is the last thing either want, given how....passonate they are about life!

It took kaa-san a little while longer to answer your last question, but eventually she did with a warm, motherly smile.

"The years have been....hard on us since your...………exile, but we have all been doing well. Your father has managed to recover somewhat from Kingdra's…rough treatment, and can walk around with the assistance of a cane. Doing so tires him out greatly, but you know how stubborn and prideful he is about his own Strength, so he keeps on pushing himself to get better. I heard there is a surgical procedure in Saffron and Goldenrod City that could fully treat his injuries, but its.....expensive. He insists that he doesn't need it, but...."

She goes silent at this for a moment, before shaking her head minutely and continuing.

"As you can see, I'm doing...fine myself, though these past few years I've cut down on the performance I've held, and thrown myself into researching a way to evolve Eevees into a Dragon type form. *Gives Reiner a dazzling smile* And....I've succeeded!!! Its a very....expensive and unintuitive process, but its certainly possible! I managed to evolve Inari into a Dragon type just months ago, and he's certainly enjoying his new found power! I was....originally going to name this species after you, but I decided that was a bit inappropriate and.....presumptuous, so I settled on the name Wyvreon instead. Reflects its Dragon typing, and it still sound like your name my little dragon if you slur it a bit! Ha ha ha!!!"

The kimono dancer tittered at her the reveal of her discovery and the semi pun she made, before she almost instantly sobered up.

"I thought that making this discovery and trading its secrets to the Elders would make them reverse the Exile they imposed on you, but they refused. I, of course, refused to share this knowledge with them in turn, which has....caused an even greater rift to form between them and our branch of the Arendse family. I don't care, though; the Elders can all die in dragon fire for banishing you, my little dragon."

Kaa-san sounded downright terrifying by the end of that declaration, her eyes rock hard and burning with utmost contempt for those that so egregiously sent away their son. She then deflated, and sagged forward to lean on you for support, looking more miserable now than ever before.

She didn't say anything, but then again, she didn't have to. You understood why.

Wow...he hadn't known she was that...passionate about the topic.

"...yeah, it's been a rough four years, let me tell you...I don't think they'll ever forgive me, quite frankly.  They're scared of change.  And they're scared that they might be wrong.  I'm almost certain of that.  I've been trying to get a few things together to show 'em we mean business, to try and...fix things as best as I can..."

...he pauses...

"...of course, it doesn't seem to ever be that simple...and if they're spreading that disdain to the rest of our side of the family..."

...

"...careful what you wish for, kaa-san.  There are some who would be more than happy to fulfill such a request if they caught wind of it..."

...

"...*sigh*...this is all too silly and complex...let's discuss something a little happier for now.  I have some important things to consider about how I'm going to handle this..."

"For one, my new friend...yes, I'd like you to meet them too one day...oh, that's going to be an interesting day..."

Upon hearing his father is improving and could maybe improve more with the right (expensive) treatment...well, that's a bit of a burden being lifted from his shoulders.  "Well, maybe I'll be able to help with that.  Maybe.  I can't make any guarantees right now, but...if I can help him, I will.  It's the least I could do."

And upon hearing his mother finally succeeded in evolving Inari...

"...you finally did it?  That's...spectacular!"  Another hug incoming.  "After all those years...it finally paid off.  Wyvreon...heh...I like it.  And I think Ridia might like it, too..."

He breaks the hug, then realizes something.  "Oh, right, guess I haven't mentioned it yet, but I managed to befriend some Eevee of my own as of yesterday.  And they seem to have some interesting potential.  Ridia is, quite fortunately, much like Inari from what I observed of her.  Very fierce, protective...I think she could evolve into a Wyvreon, no problem, and she even has a Hidden Power Dragon to back it up.  Her brother, on the other hand...well, he's a bit frail and jumpy, but his Hidden Power Ghost and his liking of the Reaper Cloth I gave him seems to suggest that he could evolve into a Ghost type.  Just have to figure out how to do that in the first place...I have a clue as to how Ridia might evolve into Wyvreon, but I'd love to hear what you found out.  Ya know, compare notes."

Your Kaa-san could nod her head at the bitter Truth of your words, frustration and a deep seated anger marring her face, before she took a deep breath and recomposed herself, letting out a long suffering sigh as she responded.

"Ever since you were Exiled, the Elders have treated all of us (FYI: Reiner's Family Branch) with wariness at best, and outright discrimination at worse. That attitude only naturally spread to the rest of the Dragon Clan over time, until it felt like we were all treated as outsiders, or worse, pariahs in our own home. Not even the first few months alive have I felt....isolated for all these years when I walk the streets of my adopted city. I once entreated them to stop this, but they gave me a shoulder colder than any Ice type and dismissed our family's concerns entire. Even the Head Elder turned a blind eye to was happening under his watch...."

She paused for a moment to catch her breath, and to fight of the feelings of bitterness/melancholy that threat to rise up and consume her again, before she continued.

"I and your father still have our friends and allies in the clan, though, so we are not totally bereft of support. Lindworm and his friends have worked hard to fight for ALL our behalf, and your cousin Clair has done much to....discourage open persecution against us, and has since managed to become quite the accomplished Dragon Tamer. She has gone so far as to become our city's Gym Leader, though you are probably aware of that already with how much our city crowed about it, my son. …Among other things, I imagine. "

*Sigh*

"I'm not sure if you know this, but the Elders....they have declared a Wild Hunt on you, and has appointed her to be the first one to hunt you down, wherever you are. Those damned old fools and the Gym council refuse to let ANY information you besides the most....slanderous pieces of news..." She briefly goes quiet and avoids your gaze, before pushing past those feelings and continuing with renewed determination. "...Or vapid stories devoid any real value to get out to the public, or especially us. Lindworm heard what happened too and knew where you were at - he didn't tell us out of concern for our safety - so he....did something else that caused an massive Outrage among the Elders, and escaped the city. He's....He's been braided a traitor, and....and a Wild Hunt has been called for him too. The last I heard from him was....was that he was going to find and warn you of this soon, and offer whatever aid possible...."

More silence, as worry of the former Blackthorn Gym Acolyte consumed her briefly as she closed her eyes and wrung her hands, until she stopped and looked back to you with nothing but the deepest concern for EVERYONE.

"....Did you meet up with him, my son? …Has Clair tracked you down? Neither?? Both???"

When you later cautioned her about wishing, she very briefly had a odd look of confusion, curiosity, and concern, before she slowly nodded her head. Normally she wouldn't think that such cursing would be impermissible in private company, ESPECIALLY her little dragon, but...something about the tone of your voice and an inscrutable look in your eyes made her take your warning with great care. Oh, how much you have change since your Exile, for better and for worse...

(…)

Eventually with a bit more coaxing on your part, the conversation drifted back to much lighter/less grave topics, your kaa-san wearing a weary but genuine smile the whole time with her hands clasped together, save for a couple of instances

"And I would very much like to meet them too, since you hold them in such high regards. Hopefully it will be interesting in the pleasant sense for all of us, and not in the....traditional meaning."

...

"*Looks surprised at your offer, before clasping her hands over her heart and smiling* …That would be wonderful. Your father would probably raise a fit over spending that much money on his behalf, but I'm sure we can persuade him to accept it, if its within your power."

"…Don't feel like you are responsible for this, though, my son. What happened that day....it was a terrible, unfortunate near catastrophe, but was not you fault. Our Kingdra are known to rage wildly , and had you the proper means and safeguards in place none of that would have happened, but the Elders saw fit to intervene. Your theft and evolving them against their orders was certainly....inspired (her polite way of saying foolish beyond belief), but I can understand why you did it. If someone stole the means to evolve my Eevee, or worse yet them themselves, I would have reacted just as...inspired. So please....don't blame yourself for what happened, my little dragon...."

(…)

"*Returns your hug with full force, delighted to embrace you once again* Yes, indeed it is my little dragon! Ha Ha Ha....I'm glad you like the name! *Questioning Looks at the namedrop* Ridia? Who's she? *Gasp* Perhaps a girlfriend of yours?! That would be wonderful, for I'd like to have some grandkids to spoil before I lose all my grace and beauty to old age, Ha Ha Ha! "

"*Looks a bit surprised at the reveal of who Ridia really was, and all that connected news, before an absolutely radiate smile appeared and she started to hug you even harder!* Oh, that's wonderful news! It makes me so happy to heard you inherited so much of my side of the family, as well as your father's! Poe sounds like a poor but sweet little dear, and Ridia...Ha Ha....I would imagine she would suit you to a tee. I would be MORE than happy to share how I evolved Inari, you silly little dragon of mine! I was only able to discover this evolution because of you dear, and I was planning on sharing it with you anyway!"

"*Composes herself and enters into what you know as 'Lecture Mode', clearing her though before beginning to relay the instructions* *Ahem* The requirement to evolve a Eevee into a Wyvreon are...unintuitive and costly, but relatively straightforward once you know the process. You will need a Dawn Stone, King's Rock, and a Destiny Know, and you have to use the D.K. to tie all the pieces together and make your Eevee wear the whole ensemble. Next, you will need to preform a Ritual, first by drawing a circle with a picture of a Dragon - any of them will do - within in, then placing them within it, and then preforming some incantation relating to their ascension into a Dragon . For me, I used a modified version the Dragon Clan Induction Rites, but I believe any form of poetry , song , or 'contract' of some sort would suffice. Finally, you asked them if they wish to become a Dragon type, and if they agree they must either receive The Blessing of a True Dragon, or demonstrate their willing to become one in a truly Draconic fashion. I have tested both those methods, and they both work perfectly. My Inari was evolved via a Blessing, while a fellow Kimono Girl Eevee she had breed/taught to somehow have Dragon Dance evolved by using that Move after the Ritual.

"This ended up revealing several interesting details: our Eevee had different Abilities and additional Exclusive Moves upon Evolving, as well as personalities and HM Move they could learn! Mine was more noblesque and dignified, and had a dominating presence that either strengthen himself or cowed his enemies, and my friend's seemed MUCH like the more aggressive and competitive Dragons that was able to tear up about anything. My gained a strange variant of Dragon Pulse that could hit multiple targets like Earthquake, and even have the occasional chance to neutralize an opponent's ability for a Round or two of combat, while my friends gained a attack that could savagely tear anything apart, even through Barriers, Defensive Abilities, and Fairy types!!! Finally, mine was able to learn how to use Defog, Surf, and Whirlpool, while my hers could be taught Cut, Rock Smash, Rock Climb. Both are able to use Strength, Flash, and most strangely of all, even Fly! "

...

"And...that is all I know. I wouldn't know the first thing about how to Evolve your Poe into a Ghost type, but if its anything similar to the process of evolving a Wvyreon then you will need a Evolutionary Stone and something fitting to bind it to the Reaper Cloth. Beyond that, I would not know. Perhaps Agatha or Morty would be able to tell you more, if you were able to get into contact with them. I could possibly arrange the former or speak on your behalf and let you set up a meeting, but for Agatha....you would need to get into contact with Lance to set up something. I believe I still have his old phone number and contact details before he....left, but....he may.....do something about your Exile if it and....other things are brought to his attention. Not sure what exactly, for he's much of a enigma as he's ever been, but....I would have repercussions for all of Blackthorn, let alone.....you."

She goes silent after saying this, looking suddenly pensive and uncertain. Oh dear, looks like kaa-san has gotten herself worked up over something else....better bring a smile to her face quickly before she starts getting 'brooding' again!

*blushes quite a lot in embarassment at the girlfriend guess*

"...*ahem*...yes, well...interesting.  I was wondering about that Dawn Stone part for sure.  I happened to acquire one yesterday as well, and Ridia definitely seemed very interested in it, so that certainly explains that...interesting that the process is so complex...and that the results can be so different for individuals...hmmm..."

...

"...*sigh*...yeah, I don't know if bringing the League's toughest trainer into this is the best idea right now...everything's just such a mess...Morty might be a good bet if he's not too engrossd in his training...paying him a visit on my own time relatively soon might be rather doable, too..."

...

"...well, I do have some other good news.  A little while back, I had the unique opportunity to teach Kingdra a new move.  A very...important one.  I doubt the Elders would have mentioned it if they know, but Kingdra was deemed fit to learn Draco Meteor by a Dragon Master.  Haven't had any incidents with it so far, either.  Have had one or two close calls, but I've got a good handle on Kingdra for the most part these days..."
