Terra again is taken off guard when Shiva summons a Tropius, blinking at it a few before looking over at her in curiosity and wonder.

"A Tropius? Rare…only seen a few myself back home. Good, strong Pokémon, and provides tasty food too. Where did you catch them, Shiva?"

...."'Marshmellow'? Like the sugary fluffy treat? Awwwww! Seeing how incredibly jolly and playful she was, it certainly fits the wolf, good pick...? Ah, and yes, I'd be happy to hear some stories, thank you! M...maybe not now though. Curious what Pokemon you met, what nature has thrown at you and whether you managed to find rare or unique plants!"

At reciving that soft-praise, the grassy sauropode flaps and spreads his wings to the fullest, casting a noticably breeze all over the surrounding before beginning to circle a few meters above the ground. Fidgeting a little in her belongings, Shiva eventually draws a half handfull of dried berries and throws them up into the high where Tropius catches them one after another. Haaah, snacks before things will get serious taste sweeter.

*more curious glancing over to Terra* She guesses that he does indeed origine from Hoenn then, so far she could only speculate. "Tropius I mostly met out of.... I guess, pure luck. Me and the others were traveling through the mountains not far from Ginger Town when that stampede arrived us, it was bascially a batch of pokemon simply running. Among them was he as well, and given how I....eh.....do enjoy Grass Types greatly.... The Nanab Berries and fruit he grows are indeed good though, youcanhavesomelaterifyoulike! ">//<

Forthright closes her eyes when that monkey comes at her with that Fury Swipes.  Eeeeep!!  That's a scary looking move!

...and when she comes out of it with barely a scratch, she pops one eye open to make sure she's not imagining things.  Huh?  She's not really hurt?

"Told ya you'd do well, Forthright.  Now show 'em you can fight back!"

Two Weather Balls later, and Aipom is barely standing...

...and then the Sandstorm faints the monkey.

EEEP!!  Sorry, sorry, sorry!  Was she supposed to do that?  She's not sure she was supposed to do that...she even made sure to launch her Weather Balls in such a way to NOT do that...she totally didn't think that the Sandstorm she summoned was going to finish the job!!!  Eeeep! (All the battles she's viewed/participated in so far have all been 'no fainting' ones so far, after all, and this is her first time using both Sandstorm and Weather Ball in an actual battle)

"...it's okay, Forthright.  You're doing great.  Some Pokemon Battles are like this.  We're not always trying to avoid KOing each others' pokemon.  Come on back and take a breather though, alright?"

Forthright looks back at Nathan...nervously nods.  Okay, if you say so...she's still not entirely certain about this, but if everything is okay...

Rhea is looking quite proud of the little dust cloud, I imagine.  Her first big battle, and she's doing great!  Maybe some additional assurances from Rhea (and Tanuki?) that everything is fine will help Forthright calm down.  (Nathan does recall her briefly to clear the Screech debuff, but she doesn't stay in that apricorn for any longer than necessary at the moment)

Taking Forthright's place for the next Round is...

...Gallade! With a simple nod from Nathan indicating it's his turn, he smoothly takes his place on the battlefield, his focus on the situation so great that even the raging Sandstorm isn't particularly bothersome.  Now it's time to test his own new abilities once again...

Basteele is unimpressed by the high flying greens theatric, thumping up and down aggressively as she gave them her meanest, fiercest glare possible! Just because you're a big Flying type doesn't mean squat to her, so she's going to clip your wings and bring you CRASHING DOWN!!! Shiranui just let out a comradery laugh at the display before squaring off against the Tropius, happy and eager to face off against a type he's Weak too! Let's see how tough the competition, yeah!

".....Huh, that is....strange. Tropius live in jungles and thick tall grass back home, so you finding one in the....Great Divide - is that the name of Cheshire's mountains? - is surprising. Hm....guess that is another odd thing about Cheshire...."

The simple monk's eyebrows rose as the Fairy woman offered to share her Tropius sweet and delicious Nanabs…and then chuckled as he nodded.

"Yes......I would. Thank you very much, Shiva."

*Timeskip: After Round 3!*

Terra was fairly astonished that Shiva's leafy sauropod pulled off what appeared to be Cheshire's Legendary variant of ROCK SMASH, a Move that his boss Ven described AND warned him in great detail to him. 


'Ven said that HM Moves here shouldn't be used unless in a Gym Match, special tournament, and not in regular Battles or where others can see it. Said that it would cause bad problems for everyone if HM used any other time. Hm....but this Battle is private and far away from other people, so I guess its okay for her to use it. ….Hopefully,' the herculean man worriedly thought, before he successfully rationalized its usage and nodded to himself, now appearing more serious than ever at seeing the HM....but also greatly impressed by the display.

"Shiva....that was ROCK SMASH, yes? Seen Move used before by others back home...but never THAT bold or strong. …The HMs here are as... mighty as Ven said they were. He told me all about them. Said they are powerful, and..... 'should not be used without utmost care, deliberation, or in the most dire of circumstance' , unless in a Gym battle or Important Tournament."

*Pauses for a moment, then continues*


" …He said it was okay to use it....privately or around other group members.....but you did not know that I knew about ROCK SMASH. …Not smart decision, but I am fine with it. ….Be more careful next using HM, Shiva. I don't want anything bad happening to you because you used a HM wrongly....okay?"

He sounded serious and....concerned throughout his speech, his expression now one of mild worry and admonishment. Thick headed as he is on most things outside his limited sphere of Knowledge/expertise, Ven DID impress on him the severity of improper HM usage, and after seeing RS himself he understood why he was. He respected Cheshire's HM already from what he's been told of them, but now....now he's  in downright awe of them. …Maybe one day he would be worthy enough to have his Pokémon taught RS, and use it themselves....

Oh, and he did pick up and munched on the half of the Nanab Berry Basteele tossed to him, and gave her a thumbs up. Shiva did say he could have one later, and he's not letting good nutrition go to waste!

(What are Shiranui's and Basteele's reaction to ROCK SMASH being used, Iron? I would say they would be impressed, but how so?)

Rather meekly, Shiva does smile back. Of course she's carefully interested in hearing what things he experienced and stumbled over when leading such a tough life in the wild, wandering! That, and she's curious what more Pokemon he calls his own, and any quirks they might have. That Foretress for example being interested in her white Vulpix (despite she gave her the cold shoulder, how amusing~), that hinted Fairy Princess has yet to make an appearance... Whatever species it'll turn out to be, Shiva does look forward to meeting that Pokemon of his. Hopefully it'll like her as much as she believed she'll do!

Seeing how her precious fortune teller first staggers, then falls to her knee and has to support herself with her hands after Foretress nimbled on her once more is causing Shiva almost real physical pain, visible by her hand automatically darting to the heart and flinching on the spot. Gothy gets recalled as swiftly as possible into the safety of her painted Premier Ball, the Ball gets hugged a little and the inhabitant of it receives some whispered words of praise only audible/senseable for her before packing it away; as coy and shy Shiva may be she doesn't seem to mind too much showing how she values her own Pokemon in front of people. At least, she feels like Terra wouldn't laugh at her for doing so ._.

Tropius himself doesn't react too much to the fierce glare of Basteele nor that big bulky Fighting Type chuckling, he just keeps loooking down at them from above as if to silently mock the former that the nasty spikes do nothing to him, hah!

Little did he know that despite he looked so eager to attack, Fighting Type's slapping hands were a tad bit faster for once, Tropius had to take a small breather from that shock to gather his concentration again. Shiva silently cursed on that Fake Out, but had to admit that it was a good call.


She looked up and over to Terra with a sly expression as he was obviously suprised! on the usage of rock smashing skills, maybe having pedicted that reaction. Ven has probably told him about the group he's going to become a member of that they're having access to Rock Smash if he trusts that mountain of a man enough to...well..... leave her under his watchful and protective care. "That was indeed Rock Smash, yes - neat that you spotted it!~" She grows meek again and shuffles her feef again upon being critizided for the usage, but knows that Terra does only mean it well. She doesn't speak up before he finished, and closes her eyes in thought before she faces him again - it was true, he only said these things because he was concerned for her. "I'll be careful. I am careful, yes - appreciated that you're concerned for....eh...me? Thank you... I, well, thought this battle is important enough to justify the usage, and look around - there's currently none who could scold me, any wild Pokemon around very likely don't care. You are...a member of our group since yeserday, so you deserve knowing about it... As long as you won't go shouting from rooftops about Rock Smash either we'll be on the safe side, no worries! Alright?" *encouraging shy smile displaying that things were okay all while searching for the Ball containing her Pokemon to replace Gothy*

It was also sweet to see how Terra got their hands on a Nanab Berry earlier than thought, seeing how that foe of Master was enjoying the fruit he grows made Tropius blush a little in meek joy. ^^ Won't stop him from giving everything he got before going down, he'll show that he can do more than just fly people around and produce food!


Shiva herself meanwhile can't really help but to muster that Hariyama of Terra and throw glances between them both, eventually she decided that it'd be safe to speak out what she suspects. "Something seems weird about your Hariyama, doesn't it...? It's...twitching as if being hindered in moving freely, but this does seemingly only increase his power. Humm.... That's Guts Ability, isn't it? "

Gym Leader Tanuki vs Nathan Round 3

Furret is back out! This time, she's summoned directly onto the battlefield, trying to minimize Sticky Web. -1 Dex for Furret.

Furret is at (6) + 8 = 14
Gallade: (3) + 8 = 11

You can bet Tanuki helps to calm Castform. She summons a Zigzagoon who goes to deliver a little mirror to Castform. Forthright enjoys looking at herself in the silvered glass.

(Do we have precedent on whether the Sandstorm move keeps lasting after its owner is recalled? Is that only for things like Snow Warning?)

Shiranui recognizes it immediately, and looks like he will do anything to learn that move.
Forretress is generally a more stoic Pokemon and it's hard to read its expressions, but those hidden eyes do go wide. And the force of the attack knocks Basteele across the battlefield, even though it didn't deal much damage to Basteele's steely shell.
