"I think I know what is too. A guess, at least."
The Toenail Fossil goes into a spherical machine, which scans it, crumbles it up, hits it with some lasers ("This heats up the DNA"), spins it at high speeds ("This is separating various components of the fossil"), bathes it in radioactivity behind lead shielding, and spits out a bowl of goo.
"This is the DNA, fossilized, but it's useless until we know how it's coded and can replicate it in a living way. Next we need to expose it to various nucleotides and see which ones fit in which order." This is done in a tubelike machine. The DNA sequence starts appearing on the screen.
"There are two components to a revivification - both extremely expensive. We need to provide one strand of the DNA, which fixes all the errors and complements the original strand. But we also need a strand of the source DNA, which provides...well, Life! Science still isn't sure exactly what the stoney material provides. Some kind of fundamental force or energy, locked away in the stone. Some of that material is almost always present in any revivification - without it, the creature cannot live. Nor can one creature's fossil be used to give life to another creature's DNA sequence. One fossil = one Pokemon, no matter the size."
She absorbs everything into a special Pokeball, a purple one with a picture of DNA on it. She places this Pokeball in a small boxy machine the size of a suitcase, with a slot for just one Pokeball. It's not plugged into any power source, though it looks electrical. It looks more like a Healing Machine than anything, including the preponderance of flashing lights. Laurelin hooks it up to a big tank full of liquid.
"This part makes some people squeamish. But it's at the heart of revivification!"
The "Healing Machine" starts glowing and flashing, bathing the Pokeball in radiance. A tiny blob like a Duosion, then like a baby bird, appears in the center of the machine. It grows more reptile-like as it increases in size. Soon it's the size of a kitten, but not yet formed the way you're expecting. The size is disproportionate to the detail. "It's going to be big, even as a child," says Laurelin.
The neck lengthens. A cobralike hood forms over the head, and beady eyes become visible. The body is getting very thick, the tail is growing from the earliest stage into a lengthy appendage. It has four legs, still devoid of toenails. The clone has taken on a sauropodian figure, longer and thinner than Tropius, but still recognizable as a very similar Pokemon.
Now rocky plates are sprouting from the spine, protruding diamonds. Toenails develop - rocky and stubby. Stone thagomizers grow from the vinelike tail - a lethal looking weapon.
From the tip of each dorsal plate sprout twin leaves. The hood and tail take on grasslike characteristics. Tiny Rowletty feathers grow around the ankles and spikes. The toenails are palmlike. The Pokemon is solidifying before your eyes, maturing into a longer and slightly thinner Tropius. It'll be heavier, though.
The liquid drains away from the tank, and the ancient Tropius collapses.
"She'll be unconscious until she spends the night in a Healing Machine at a Pokemon Center. Such is always the case. Other than that, preliminary scans reveal she's a success! Oh, you must beam this Pokedex data to Mallorn at once! She's beautiful..."
Nathan watches the whole revivification process with great interest. This is definitely not something he thought he'd ever get to see in person.
When the process is finished, Nathan whistles. "That she is. You happen to have a pokeball for her, or do I need to provide one? And yeah, Mallorn is going to be incredibly excited when he hears about this..."
Nathan kneels down so he's right in front of the large sauropod's head. Is she conscious?
"I'm saving the ones I have to bribe trainers to do tasks for me, so you'll have to provide one."
The ancient Tropius is not conscious, which Laurelin assures you is normal.

"I don't know if you know this or not, but victorious challengers earn a victory lap!" Skates rise up out of the arena, which was freshly paved by Rotom. "Let's have some applause for Heart as he takes a well-earned victory lap. He's moving on to the big leagues, I hope!"
Heart once again make a respect bow to Zamboni. "Thank you everyone. Also thank you Zamboni for the chance of battle. Also, if you dont mind, there is something I must discuss with you. Something who is...urgent of your attention. If you dont mind of course."
"Sure, champ. Come to my office in ten minutes, eh?"
He's waiting when you get there.
When Heart meet Zamboni in his office Heart begin to finally talk. "Well, first of all: I believe you remember my friends: Ventus, Shiva and Nathan. They have challenge your Gym for a long time ago. I believe Dagny or Tanuki have already informed you about some problems with a group who was causing problems in Cheshire for quite a while. The Scimitars. Have you heard something about that?"
"A little. They are not here in Ginger Town, but were spotted in Wineberry. They skirt the law in many ways, but they're careful not to get caught doing anything outright illegal. Magicians, they call themselves."
"Believe me. They are more doing than illegal things. They abusing pokemon. Me and my friends was in Mt. Sentry making some investigation about something the Scimitars are searching in that place. They slaving pokemon, brainwashing them. Get riding them from emotions and will. Using some sort of...machines or whatever. They brainwash Reuniclus and Solosis. They must be stopped."

(07-30-2018, 03:48 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Terra clenches his teeth and lets out a grunt as his knees hit the floor, head bowed as he awaited what Anubi would do. Would they finish him off, or show them mercy like he did to them? When it was clear that no conscious erasing Move was inbound, the thoroughly bruised wander did the unexpected: he started to laugh. It was deep and booming, pleasure and satisfaction clearly evident in it as he looked up at his blue bomber, giving them a Pained but genuine and fierce smile.
"Ha ha ha ha ha! You have learned well, Anubi. Next time, I will give you only one Round to prepare! Very good fight, my friend! Ha Ha!"
He then slowly staggered to his feet, and turned to give the psychic knight the same grin he gave to his blue bomber.
"You know Heal Pulse, Gallade? Could you use one on me? Please? I like a good fight, but not so much the injuries I get from them, Ha Ha!"
For all intent and purposes, it appeared that Terra didn't mind he lost the second match against Rilou at all, and seemed happy, strangely enough! Looks like what the simple monk said only a moment ago was true: he really did like a challenging fight, no matter the outcome! Didn't hurt...well, no it did, but it helped that he knew that he managed to earn a little respect from the young jackal's , which was half the point of sparring with them to begin with.
All in all, it was a good match for Terra, through and through!
Order: Politely ask Gallade for some heals, and await Anubi's reaction to Terra's good sportsmanship / praise! I'll wait until Nathan comes back to pick up Gallade before Terra starts his Third Encounter, which will be foraging for more Berries with Michael AND Anubi this time! Might as well gather up as many nature's goodies, if I can!
Gallade nods when asked if he knows Heal Pulse. He's got no problems with using 2 or 3 on Terra, even.
Nathan arrives a few minutes later.
To say he was expecting to find Terra looking a little injured would not really be accurate, but any worries are quickly dispelled by Gallade's assurances that everything is fine and under control.
"...well, it looks like you've been having some fun, haven't you? Sparring under Gallade's watchful eye, I take it?"

The ancient Tropius is not conscious, which Laurelin assures you is normal.
Nathan smiles at that comment. "Well, guess I'll be getting some of those off you yet, then. Still have another fossil to revive, after all. Not today, but maybe tomorrow."
One normal pokeball for Delta? Tropius it is, then! And before Nathan does anything else, he thanks Professor Laurelin and heads off to the Center to get Delta? Tropius, Starmie, and Snivy some well deserved rest. He'll have to check on the three of them in the morning.
So, on to Nathan's third encounter for the day... it's back to visiting Pyroar at the Shelter he goes! His current party is Gallade, Swiftfire, Forthright, Rhea, Ditto, and Orthros. Since Gallade has done double Teleporting today already, Nathan asks Ditto to do it instead. Conveniently enough, Ditto's a Xatu once again today, so it doesn't even need to Transform to Teleport.
Nathan makes sure to give Pyroar a good rub down as a way to say hi once again. "Hey there, Pyroar. Brought Swiftfire back with me today, as promised. Also have some other pokemon that might like to meet ya. Maybe. If you want to give meeting them a shot, I'll tell ya more about them. We can start with just Swiftfire if you'd prefer that, though."

*Flashback!*
The simple monk gave the psychic knight a nod of his head, still smiling jovially at them despite the intense urge to resume grimacing from the intense Pain he was in.
"Thank you, Gallade. One or Two Heal Pulse will be good enough for me. Don't want to tire you out too."
Presumable after he was patched up (not at all to greatly), he went over to offer to lift Anubi on his shoulder, as well as inform them of his future plans today.
"Going out to forage for berries outside of Cress with Mikey, my Breloom. You want to help me? *Pauses* You want to meet rest of my team too later? Or see them at....your own pace? Don't want to rush, so you can chose when to meet them."
When Nathan arrived, he would have saw that Terra was completely non-plussed with his injuries (however many he has left), and he did not notice their initial worry as he gave them a less ferocious but still fairly eager grin.
"Yes. Anubi *motions toward the Rilou on his shoulder/by his side* learns quickly, roughed me up good. Only Shiranui could have done better, Ha Ha! *Sighs pleasantly, then looks at Anubi* Nice to have such a tough, fierce fighter like you my partner. Very nice. We will only grow stronger together. Right?"

Two Heal Pulses for Terra then, coming right up! (When Iron gets around to rolling them, that is) Hopefully that patches Terra up enough that he's no longer in a significant amount of pain.
"...well, so long as it's all in good fun and beneficial for everyone. And as long as nobody's burned. Yeah, I can tell you've been hit by some fire attacks of some variety. Blaze Kicks, right? Dangerous move, that. Particularly if nobody is around to smother the flames. You could have been in a lot of danger there."

"*Nods* It was. *Smiles* Feel closer with Anubi after our fights than before."
At Nathan's astute observation was meet with a shrug from the mountainous man, surprisingly enough.
"Yes, but I have Burn Heals to put me out if that happened. Max Potion too, if I got too hurt. Gallade and Anubi would smother fire if I could not, or go get help from Nurse. Not worried.....either way."

Nathan looks at Gallade.
"...anyways, I just needed to grab Gallade and go. Have something important we need to do. I'll tell you more when we get there, Gallade. You make sure you don't do anything too strenuous, Terra, alright? Catch ya later!"
Gallade gives Terra another respectful nod, casts one last glance and a small smile at Anubi, and then follows Nathan out of the room.
They've got a giant dinosaur pokemon to battle and a new friend to make.

Link to Round 3
Oh... Now that you say it/from the way it's described, Raphael seeking cover behind stumbling Spinda from a Ghost type indeed doesn't make so much sense. Weird idea of mine.
Gengar's flinched and only needs to suffer one point of damage to faint.
------------------
With growing fear Shiva watches as scary and poisonous Gengar creepy closer and closer to Raphael, she found herself clenching Delphox's burning wand protectively in front of her and having taken a step back without noticing. Fear awakes within her again that she quickly surpresses, but she struggled to prevent herself from gasping sharply and averting her gaze the moment Gengar slashes the angel with toxic claws, laughing even over his antics. Hearing her Raphael taking breaths as raspy as Chuckles' voice then - a clear sign for a poisoned fairy - brought visible worry and a hint of panic to the natural fae enthusiast.
Again she caught herself however, she raises her soft voice. "I'm sorry for what happened with you, Raphael! But...please hold on, I know you're suffering, but please try to STAY strong and serene! Healing of your condition is promised by me right after we've made it through this battle, so please... It's not much anymore, keep yourself going, stay with me please...! Spinda, you.... You are doing absolutely amazing, keep it up like that!!"
Quote:"Go on then...knock Gengar out. Return him to Styx..."
These few words caught Shiva, she brings her attention back to Chuckles himself as she only calmly looks over to him, watches him. It's hard for her to really read any emotions within him though.
Quietly, she replies. "I would not like to do that, however..... Unless it's really necessary." A short break follows where Raphael coughs heavily, Spinda just continues to stumble across the battlefield and Shiva soft-stares at the spot she saw Gengar the last time. "I've never seen a Gengar being....almost shy about showing itself and causing mischief, no... My Pokemon will easily strike before he can. He's in pain... And he seems to be a Pokemon very valued and loyal to you..." 'Especially since you are fine with him sticking to you concealed as a cloak', Shiva added in her mind. "I don't wish to faint him, to return him to the mythic river, unless you are sure and fine with that. If you are, I'll do you that favour." All of that was said in a neutral tone of voice, barely anything of the softness she adressed her Pokemon with was audible anymore. Of course she's begrudging Gengar for pestering Raphael with Poison Jabs, but she's not cruel or spiteful towards the Ghost - it acted in order to win this battle for his Master.
----------------
Mechanics:
Offering Chuckles to forfeit the battle and claim me as a winner instead of fainting his Gengar. Depending how he reacts, we'll attack or move on to care for our Pokemon.
A Single Action of Air Slash from Raphael, it has 7 dice in Accuracy after substracting Pain and a Damage Pool of 7 dice as well. 5*CD to flinch once more.
Two Feint Attacks from Spinda, 5 dice in Accuracy for the first and 4 for the second attack. 8 dice of damage + 1 autodamage due to 5*Strength from Swagger and Black Glasses.

"I want to see you do it."
Faint Attack
(6)(3)(1)(5)(5)
(2)(6)(1)(2) Gengar faints! He sinks into the water beneath the wicker floor, and the water becomes dark and bruised. The scent of it hurts your nostrils.
A bell sounds, and instantly in comes a butler bearing calming teas. One is given to Raphael in a saucer, healing the poison.
"Victory to the challenger."
"Here - the Poikilite Badge! It improves the nimbleness of Pokemon (Dexterity) in a process similar to that of a Mega Stone, strengthened by your bond with your Pokemon." He hands you a glittering navy-colored badge, shaped like a sailor emblem and speckled with holographic mineral. Side by side, you notice the two badges are slightly different based on the location of the embedded minerals.
"Yes, every badge I give out is different, just as no two battles are the same, and no two Pokemon!"
"Misdreavus learned to use a wand all on its own. It was a surprise to me as much as to anyone, I believe. Perhaps all mage Pokemon could learn it with enough training, but I do not know."
6Xp to each Pokemon and 9Xp to Shiva. Shiva also gets +2XP for RP. And $1000 prize money.
