[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
Move Tutoring will stick with Knowledge, but Terra's Fight skill certainly helps him with Training Sessions and battles for XP.

Humm, I can see your point here, definitely, but it still feels wrong and unnatural to me to go by Fight instead of Knowledge. Teaching a Pokemon how to use a move that it is unaware of is more than showing it how to use the move; how is the Tutor supposed to explain the move to the Pokemon, tell it how to use the move if it has little to no idea of the desired move and the Tutor has neither?

Move Tutoring is my speciality also, so I'd actually, well, keep Shiva as the only one who's really good at it. To her and me, it's a little more than bringing a useful/strong move to a Pokemon for XY's sake. A side career as a real Move Tutor is what she strives for! I'm very fine with coordinating our activities, it's working with he other players as well. Not an obstacle or a hassle, really!

EDIT: Thank you, Iron!

Could also ask Nathan for help with Tutoring once he gets his first point in the specialty (which should be soon). High Knowledge should help a little with that.

*Shrugs* Iron's ruled on it, but I'd still like to stand by my opinion, even if its ultimately futile. Showing and practice can teach people things just fine without really explaining the mechanics of what their doing from the get go. If the given instructor does a good enough job, they being in question will end up naturally understanding what they're doing through sheer repetition and mastery!

I would also like to point out that nobody is trying to deny you of your role as Best Move Tutor, but more or less just want the ability to conveniently Tutor their own Pokémon without relying on others unless they want to. More people good at it is only a great thing, but if you really want your time taken up fulfilling requests along those lines....so be it.

Thanks for the offer, Dragonstrike! Maybe you can teach Genie Tailwind, since Nathan seen that Move used enough times to get a good understanding on it, given how smart he is! Shiranui will remain being taught by Shiva, due to Pancham give a + 1 Success to the tutoring roll.

Thanks for understanding, dear. I don't feel like my time tutoring is taken up though. But... @Lord Windos, I actually hoped and silently looked forward to tutor especially Genie as I quite like her, and she seems to return these sentiments to Shiva? If you would wait until Cottonee has evolved she'll also get that +1 success in Tailwind Tutoring. Iron has agreed that I can tutor that move already before though due to having seen it enough from Lucifer.

EDIT: I'm sorry if I'm somewhat sensitive in that point... But going off to with a Pokemon that has fine synergy with someone to have it tutored by someoneelse doesn't feel nice at all. :C

I'm willing to wait for awhile.....but not forever. Genie and Shiva will get plenty of time together, regardless of being tutored by your chara or not, so don't worry.

Huh, wait a moment, Windos... Does that mean that Terra has already battled and defeated Chuckles before he came to our group?  Cool! Was the battle that frightening and hard though if it it creeped him out that much and left quite an impression on him?

From what I remember negotiating with Iron, Terra has already earned Chuckles, Zamboni's, and Dagny's Badges. From what I imagine/my headcannon he utterly trounced both Zam Zam and the Steel Wonder (The later of which I'd like to say he soloed her team with only Shiranui!), but Chuckles.....that man gave my character on hell of a time in their battle. Both in its difficulty, and simply because that briny old man is the epitome of CREEPY to Terra. Ghosts and Dark do unnerve him, after all (though nowhere NEAR to the extent as Sableye).

....For real? Huh, that means you're roughly on the level concerning Gym Badges like we others are, that's great to see! Shiranui solo'ing Dagny's steely Pokemon is a headcanon I'd support, with the edit that - if she sent it out - Bronzong gave him a bit of a hard time. Still it kinda speaks for the power of that bulky 'Mon!

It's also neat to see that even that mountain of a man can be frightened and crept out so heavily, makes him more believable as a chara.

Though now I wonder what you'll do against Tanuki... She can always evade your strongest blows, has a ton of tricks up in her sleeve and Tangled Feet is hard to stand a chance against with no spread moves (aside from Discharge?) and little Accuracy to begin with. ._.

Fighting a fast character means not stretching yourself too thin so you can keep up the pressure without them evading everything you try.

Fighting a strong character means avoiding strong hits whenever possible, attempting to KO them before they can do the same to you.

Fighting a bulky character means getting as many hits as you can to try and deal more damage to them than they can do to you.

Those are the general rules of thumb when it comes to battling those with a focus on any one attribute of Dex, Str, or Vit.  Characters that have multiple focuses are harder to beat, obviously.

Strong and fast is a conundrum.  Do you try and evade their high accuracy, strong moves, or attempt to tank the barrage and get in what damage you can?

Strong and bulky presents a different question.  How many actions do you dedicate to trying to evade their attacks and how many do you use to deal chip damage?

Fast and bulky is a 'playing the long game' style of battle.  They can avoid powerful attacks to make the most of their bulk while chipping away at you simultaneously.  Or they can tank the hits and keep hitting you over and over.  Matching their damage output makes the matchup a lot easier.

Fast, Strong, and Bulky is really versatile for obvious reasons, and has no true 'counters' aside from adapting to how the opponent is playing.

--------

BTW Phantom, if you were wondering why I haven't said anything concerning the Tanuki victory, it's because I'm saving it for IC because there's a particular way I want to do it.
