I figured it out the moment Iron pointed out most of the letters in the Unown swarm, but I'm also glad everyone else cottoned on quickly too! My double major never has been so practical in to before!

My theory on U HP is that they work together and create Pokemon from artwork/old stuff, but it's less stable / controllable than modern revival methods . The good professor want s them to either utilize them in some fashion in her research, and/or improve on revival process with their aid. She need 5 DNA/RNA letter (diff) in order for her plans to work, and so she sends out trainers to get them. Overall, simple, but clever quest!

Yes, it all makes so much sense now, lolz! That's why their Hidden Power is reviving Pokemon from simple murals, it'd be pretty cool if they'd hit that strange mutated Eevee depicted in the stone puzzle I solved.

Also quite a bit harder than fighting a single pokemon, lol.  Have to fight off a growing number of wild ancient pokemon that you can't catch while simultaneously trying to KO/capture the 5 unique Unown letters, which start running away once you start overwhelming their minions?  Yup, that'd be really difficult with only one or two people.



I'm also going to straight up say that Nathan doesn't know that U is the fifth letter by his own knowledge.  That's not something that I could say I really knew because I never really got into the nitty gritty of genetics.

Would really appreciate it if Shiva mentioned something IC about U being one of the 5 letters needed, btw, even though Nathan never really stated IC that the Unown have a connection to fossil DNA, and that's the specific reason why Laurelin wanted them (he can explain that after the fact, though, if Shiva finds it odd that the 5 Unown letters are all related to DNA stuff). Solving this mystery doesn't do us any good if we don't get a U, and Shiva's the only one who knows the fifth Unown Laurelin wants is a U IC.

Here's my next question, Iron: can anyone see any Unown U in the mass of black bodies?  Because Nathan could also single an Unown out with Telekinesis as well if someone can point one out or he spots one.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess? I worked it into my orders for the Round, so hopefully we spot a U somewhere amidst the ensuing chaos.

So, after Aerodactyl used Sky Drop on Grid, I thought it was weird that we could continue hitting it in the middle of the attack. I did some (re)reading, and it turns out that the book does not specify that the move takes the user and the target 'Out of Range' like it does with Fly, Bounce, etc.

So...yeah, that's kinda weird. Though using Sky Drop in a place with a ceiling is also kinda weird, tbh...

Whoo! Success! Glad I didn't have to spend a Will Point. Now we just have to take out whatever the Unown summon next, and then we can grab those TMs and get outta there.

Huh. So the Shiny Unown is indeed a U...guess that makes it EXTRA special, doesn't it? (And a fail safe, I suppose)

@Spiritmon, we're still mid-round. Recalling your pokemon now isn't very advisable (the book says so!)...we also have all 5 Unown we need, the Shiny one is just a bonus. (Heart just caught a normal Unown U that Grid fainted with Electroweb)

If you want to try catching that Shiny Unown U, you'll probably have to bid exp with Phantom for it.

And there's literally nothing we can do to stop the Hidden Power from going off. It's a collective Hidden Power from literally dozens of Unown. The only way we could possibly hit that many simultaneously is with a huuuuuge area attack like Explosion that would KO all the Unown simultaneously. (so, it technically would be possible for us to stop them, but Basteele isn't out, and we don't want to get nuked either, nor do we want to potentially damage the cave, so...)
