(4)(5)(1)(3)(6)
(5)(5)(3)(6) Hit five times!
(4)(4), (5)(3), (1)(5), (2)(6), (6)(1) Ditto takes 5 dmg and faints! He collapses into sand. This disturbs the real Manectric a little.
FLASH 1
(4)(2)(4)(1)(4)(6) (3)(1)
Tyrantrum and a big handful of Unown are blinded! The blinded Unown do not separate from their group at all. They don't even miss a beat. They do look odd with their entire bodies blacked out, eyes lidded! You can pick out these Unown from the crowd a little more easily. You see another A, and a C, for sure.
Ingrain 1
(2)(2)(2)(4)(5)
Trevenant planted his roots!
Nasty Plot 1
(2)(1)(2)(6)(3)
+2 Str for Ambipom!
Dazzling Gleam 1
(6)(4)(1)(5)(2)(1) (6)
(4) Tyrantrum takes 2 dmg 11/13hp
,
the (4) again, plus (6)(1)(5)(5) The three Unown take 4 dmg and faint. They only have 2 hit points. Terra is unaffected.
Shiva tosses a Pokeball. (2)(5) vs (2)(4) It's not caught, but the ball is not broken.
Tyrantrum thrashes in agony, blinded and unable to hit anything. It's a sort of gruesome Dragon Dance.
Dragon Dance 1
(5)(5)(4)(3)(6)
Bubble 1
(6)(5)(1)(4)(5)(5) (2) Critical hit.
CD: (2)
(5) Tyrantrum takes 1 dmg 10/13hp
,
(4)(3)(3)(6) Four more Unown faint. *rolls*
Unown T, G, C, and another A.
Nathan chucks a Pokeball at T. (5)(4) vs (3)(2)(5) Gotcha! Unown T was caught!
The haunting song of the Unown gyre quickens, and another portrait unscrambles and comes to life as a hale Pokemon!
HIDDEN POWER 1
(5)(4)(6)(4)(1)(6) (1)(2)(4)(1)
CD: (5) It's a Relicanth! The stone fish plops down into the dirt and kinda wriggles out a muddy pit for itself.
Init: (4) + 2 Dex = last.
The Unown, of course, have no reaction to their fishy friend's fate.
Shiva throws another Pokeball. (3)(5) vs (1)(3) Gotcha! Unown A was caught! You now have one A and one T. A G (statused) and a C (fainted) are available.
Nathan throws another Pokeball. (3)(3) vs (6)(2)(1) That Pokeball breaks.
Actually, instead of his Strike for Round 1, Terra Grapples a hapless paralyzed/fainted G Unown. It's unconscious and tiny, so why not? Unown A, T, and G are obtained, with a C fainted on the cave floor.
Quick Attack 2
(6)(5)(2)(3)(6)(1)
5 Str + 2 power -5 vit = 2d6-1
(6)(1) No damage.
Mach Punch 2
(4)(3)(4)(6)(5)(6) Critical hit.
(4)(1)(4)(2) Tyrantrum takes 3 dmg 7/13 hp -1 pain.
ROCK SMASH 2
(4)(5)(2)(6)(5)(6) (3) Critical hit.
(5)(1)(5)(6)(4) Tyrantrum takes 5 dmg 3/13hp -2 pain.
CD: (3)(2)(1)(6)(5) -1 Def for Tyrantrum. Cracks appear in the rocky Pokemon.
Drain Punch 1
(5)(2)(4)(5)(6)(6) Trevenant gets in on the critical action. While Tyrantrum is blinded, Bulbasaur and Trevenant are just pushing him back and forth right into each other's attacks.
(2)(2)(1)(3)(5)(4) Tyrantrum takes 3 dmg and faints. He becomes a substantially bigger pile of sand. The mural restores itself.
Swift 2
(4)(1)(3)(5)(1)(6)
(6)(6)(6)(5)(4)(2) (1)(6)
*rolls*
Six Unown drop out of the stream, very unconscious. Terra picks up a C and pockets it, 'cause he's in the thick of the stream.
Here's where it gets weird, if you hadn't quite noticed the pattern already: All these Unown are either C (1), G (3), A (1), or T (1). In fact, peering into the stream, it's possible every single Unown in there could be A, G, C, or T. If there are others, they're a lot less frequent.
But Laurelin requires 5 unique letters.
Bubbles and Dazzling Gleams drop another two dozen Unown.
*roll 1* - Same thing!
*roll 2* - oh, no time to check up on that, Relicanth is attacking!
The stony fish rotates in the mud and takes aim at the nearest, biggest target.
Hydro Pump 2ish on Terra
(3)(2)(3)(2)(4)
3 Str + 5 power +1 STAB = 4d6
(6)(5)(2)(4) Terra takes 3 dmg. He's knocked back against the entrance of the cave and deluged in water, soaking his outermost possessions, his simple clothes, and his skin/hair. Manectric is instantly licking his face to make sure he's OK. Might have some mild bruises but he is OK.
HIDDEN POWER 2
(3)(2)(2)(6)(6)(4)(6)
This mural assembles into an Aerodactyl, which leaps from the wall and takes to the air. (3) + 4 Dex + 0 Survival = 7. It swoops on Grid, perhaps figuring him one of the giant delicious bugs from its own time. You find yourselves quavering in your boots, your Willingness to take risks quashed (Will points halved for duration of battle only).
Sky Drop 2 (sorta)
Grid flinches as Aerodactyl brings him out of the cave and into the air beyond!
Ray smacks the dragonfossil as it flees.
ROCK SMASH 3
(2)(3)(1)(1)(1)(4)
But it's already too late.
Trevenant tries for himself, with his longer limbs.
Horn Leech 3
(2)(1)(6)(3)(3)
(5)(3)(2)(4) Aerodactyl takes 2 dmg 7/9hp -1 pain.
Swift 3
(6)(5)(1)(2)(1)
(6)(3)(2)(1)(2)(6) Aerodactyl takes 1 dmg 6/9hp -1 pain
Dazzling Gleam 3
(5)(5)(1)(1)(6)
(6)(4)(2) Aerodactyl takes 2 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain.
Bubbles 3
(5)(4)(1)(2)(4)
(5)(6)(1) Aerodactyl takes 4 dmg and faints. Since it didn't have time to aim Grid properly, the spider takes no damage, saving himself with a web despite his exhaustion. Plus there's a bunch of sand falling around him.
Mikey looks a little disappointed he didn't get to Sky Uppercut that big stone birdie.
Hydro Pump 3ish on Ray.
(6)(1)(4)(2)
(5)(4)(3)(6)(4)(1) Ray takes 4 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain.
Alert rolls! *roll, roll, roll, roll*.
Wow, really good rolls actually.
Nathan spots a purple TM wedged into the Aero mural. Heart spots a green TM up on the ceiling in a small stalactite. And finally, Shiva spots a glimpse of a blue Unown in the stream, trailing sparkling scales behind it. It's hard to see despite its luster, due to its size and the number of its friends. It's near the mouth of the cave, and she sees it because she's watching Tanukizoon corral the Eevee like a sheepdog.
At this point, seeing how quickly you dispensed their three allies, the conscious Unown have begun flying directly INTO the ceiling of the cave, where each who reaches it disappears in a little spark of light. They're disappearing back into their own dimension just as fast as they can fly. They'll all be gone by the end of next Round.
The summoned Relicanth is still unharmed, and the Unown will have time to use Hidden Power a couple more times before they have all vanished.

That was a wild round. When Terra and Ray was attacked by that damn stone fish, Heart was get off guard...then he face shifted to a more anger one. Maybe Terra/@ Lord Windos, Nathan/@ Dragonstrike and Shiva/@ PhantomUnderYourDesk could see or not, but Heart eyes shifted to another color. His normal brown eyes shifted to a more dark purple one. He yell to Relincanth. "HEY! You old, fat and ungly root piece of trash! Why dont you face someone with some dignity! I gonna make a sushi when I finish with you! Trevenant! Prepare yourself to finish off that damn fish! Horn Leech 4x times against him! Ambipom! Prepare yourself to use Fury Swipes 5x! But not against Relicanth! That Unow is still somewere! He gonna get out from the other dimension and that will be your chance to go with everything against that Unow!" Heart also prepare three pokeballs to capture that last Unow. Heart also prepare himself to launch foward to get the Green TM in the stalactite. More TM's is always a good thing!
Horn Leech Accuracy: Dex (4) + Fight (4) + Brawl (3) - Actions (5/6/7/8/9) = 6D6/5D6/4D6/3D6/2D6

* Time stamp: Beginning of the Round*
Terra couldn't help but let out a small *sigh* of relief as he saw the mimic turned doggie taken down, as that meant the threat of unchecked Discharge spam was firmly buried. It was bad enough when Melly went wild with the Move on and off the battlefield, so neither he nor the group needed a look a like compound that shocking trouble any!
He did end up mirroring his Electric Fenrir's preturbness when it dissipated into sand, though, as he'd never seen anything remotely freaky like that in his travels.
'....Didn't mean to really erase Pokémon. Or the others to do that. …Hope they are okay now....'
Mildly disturbed and somewhat guilty of what happened as he was, the simple monk soon dispelled those feelings with a decisive shake of his head, before resuming his charge into the thick of the Unown stream. Worry about the fate of those art beasts latter, take out and subdue these Unown now!
*T ime stamp: After being drenched with Hydro Pump, but before he saw Heart flip out about it*
The impact with the cave wall managed to elicit a Pained grunt from the mountainous man, knocking him flat on his bumcheeks and smooshing him against the ragged stone. His Loyal canine's prompt arrival and worried ministrations managed to bring a small to his face, causing him to pat her on the head to reassure her all was well.
"I'm okay girl, so no worry. Now *Points at Relicanth then at the murals* take of that Relicanth, and anymore Pokémon that pop out of the wall. Okay? *Nods* Go."
While that was happening, the kickboxing shroom turned its instantly sights on Relicanth after Tyrantrum was defeated, not pausing to savor the feeling of accomplishment he got from helping topple that prehistoric recreation! That will come later; now is the time to fight fight FIGHT!
Just as he was about to start laying into it, Heart's Pokémon had already leapt forward to make sashimi out of the Murelicanth at their master's enraged proclamations (which Terra didn't notice due to focusing on Melly), causing the martial 'shroom to stare suspiciously at the normally comedic man, before he shook his head and prepared to shoot out Mach Punches at anymore opponents that happen to join the battle. He doesn't know what's up with Heart, but if they were so gung ho about taking care of the relic fish, he'll let them have at it and dedicate his attention elsewhere!
Order: Reassure Melly, then have her rejoin the battle by zapping Relicanth with Thunder Wave, before using Strikes on it to deal some form of unresisted/Non AoE Damage to it three times (4 Actions total, 4D6 Roll for T-Wave, 4/3/2D6 for Strikes). Mikey will just keep throwing out 3 Mach Punches per Round at whatever pops out of the cave walls (5/4/3D6 Dice), as I believe Spore won't work too well in this form of scenario. Any leftover Actions will be transferred over to an available foe. Almost time to spell the end of this Encounter, so let's get on it!

With lots of grim satisfaction and crossed arms Shiva watched as that false Manetric went down before it could deal massive damage to the party's Pokemon (especially Azu, yikes!), but the real treat for her was seeing that big, mean, ancient, rocky dragon Tyrantrum was becoming a huge pile of sand before them, she gave it a huffed and cold expression full of 'Serves you right!' as a farewell.
Terra was luckily unfazed and undamaged by the attacks from Azumarill and Delphox, much to her relief and joy; while the Unknown were displaying their Hidden Power once more to summon a Relicanth Shiva took the opportunity to swiftly - actually, she did so in quite a hurry - pick up the Ball that she managed to catch the Unown A in to immediately send it to Bill's PC to storage.
The next thing she spotted was him being blasted against the cave wall near the entrance by a Hydro Pump from said ancient fish, causing her to leap over to him in revived concern just like the real Melly to see whether he was okay and helping him get back up on his feet again.
A split second later a big, biiiig Aerodactyl flew over her head, carrying what seemed to be Grid in its claws, her dear fae rabbit was tailing it in suprising eager, spraying a beam of bubbles into its direction - and plucking it from the air by that, causing it to drop the spider and turn into sand as well! She let out a loud chirp of victory against the long lost flying threat, earning a very appreciating look from her Master (who still hasn't left Terra's side by that point).

No time to take a breather though as it seemed, as at first massive anger and hot rage hit her senses without holding back, almost giving her headaches in the process - jerking her head into the direction it came from, she spotted nonelse but Heart himself being the source of it, one moment later the unwilliing confirmation came as he yelled and launhed threats at that Relicant. (I don't know why you left me out in that, Spirit, when Shiva would definitely pick up such a strong reaction, but anyway).
Intutively though she averted her gaze to the cave entry once more to check on Eevee and Umbreon, and MUCH to her relief they seemed unharmed and protected by Tanuki, as she has asked the furrfluffball to do (I assume she has also given them/Eevee the Soothe Bell at that point) . Just in that moment though somethingelse caught her attention: SPARKLES, a small trail of glittering scales that only shiny Pokemon leave behind, and it came from an Unown! Instantly she gasps audibly, lets go of Terra's arm and asks her Pokemon to come to her as a NEW TARGET has been detected.
Alright Iron, I need some clarification on a few things please:
- What letter is that Shiny Unknown, and can I have that roll to see the concept behind the Unown's Hidden Power/why Prof.Laurelin wishes for five different letters as asked in MetaThread?
- If I'd reacall Azumarill here and send out Gothy, can she restrain that Shiny with a Single Action of Telekinesis and guide it outside the Cave as it's already at the mouth of it so that it is prevented from escaping into the other dimension with the others? I'd fight it outside then with Lilith and Delphox in a seperate Encounter.
- Before/while doing that, could I send out Raphael and give him a conditional order in the means of 'Use move XY against foes Z-times, and come back to me outside of the Cave as soon as you reach -2 Pain', or would that go against the Rule of not more than two Pokemon in battle OR would Raphael himself be uncomfortable with that? Intention is to let him help the others defeating threats the Unown send at the party while Shiva is outside trying to defeat and catch that Shiny Unown.

Intutively though she averted her gaze to the cave entry once more to check on Eevee and Umbreon, and MUCH to her relief they seemed unharmed and protected by Tanuki, as she has asked the furrfluffball to do (I assume she has also given them/Eevee the Soothe Bell at that point).
(Sorry for left of that. It was because Nathan and Terra was more close so I believed Shiva did not see. Okay, going to fix that)

You cannot tell what letter the shiny is, but you think it has the rounded curves of a modern Unown.
Science 2 roll: (4)(2)(4)(2)(6)(3) (3)(4)(5)(4)(4) = 7 successes, more than enough.
Shiva smiles, 'cause she suddenly remembers seeing those 4 letters in her father's research into Pokemon breeding and how traits are passed on selectively. There was sometimes a 5th letter, but it was a bit of an aberration...
Telekinesis is not that strong. It doesn't give nearly that level of control over a Pokemon, though it would on an object. However, you can use Telekinesis to HELP isolate the Unown enough to target that one specifically with moves.
What you describe with Raphael would simply mean having three Pokemon out, and thus is illegal/dangerous. Shiva is an Insight-blaster, though. Pokemon are always uncomfortable to have their trainer's attention shared so much.

(Oh, then Raphael has to remain in his Ball and the others have to get along themselves with any threats the Unown send at them. I COULD try indeed, but I don't want to have something bad happening at this current point! >o< Not when the archangel and an Eevee Family are at risk.)
'How traits are passed on selectively'... If it is true what Shiva believes, the remaining needed letter must be an U to represent the demethylated version of letter T, and the letter she captured must represent Adenine. It..... it all makes so much sense all of a sudden: From the name of the cave ('Ancestor') over why Prof.Laurelin wishes to have some of these special Unown to how they are flying in a stream twisting around each other, it all comes back to the base of life:
Deoxyribonucleic acid. It determines practically everything, carrying the genome of the Pokemon...
With newly gained vigor and the feeling of an 'eureka!-moment, Azumarill is recalled into her Ball, and just as quickly her gothloli fortune teller is sent out to accompany her wizard fox: NEW TARGET IS THAT SHINY UNOWN, as Shiva's determined to obtain it. What letter it is, she'll see then... Though she's feeling a little bad deep within her to soft-leave the others fighting the threats on their own, but at the same time something assures and calms her that they'll get along themselves.
"Alright, both of you... You see that exemplar that's leaving sparkles behind and sports a blue color instead of black?" *pointing it out to Lilith and Delphox* "Please aim your attack on that one, I want to catch it.... Seperate it by restraining it with a Telekinesis Lilith, before you praise it for its powers to throw it over the edge. You Delphox, channel some of the darkness in the cavern into Shadow Balls to give it the rest, similar like you did in Chuckle's Gym! If your inner flame flares up though - cast some mystical flames."
She's also already preparing her only Great Ball for that particular Unown, means it'll have Shiva's OT. If it's the required 5th letter it'll be given to Prof.Laurelin for sure, if it isn't... Well, then it might be still given to her if there's an extra reward or so, we'll see. If it helps, Shiva could also aid by seperating the shiny from the stream by swiping after it with a book or so (not to deal damage)
-----------------------
For Lilith, it's a Telekinesis followed by a Flatter.
Accuracy Roll Telekinesis 1: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 2 Actions = 8d6
Effect: All moves targeted at Shiny Unown will have 'Never Fail' for two moves while granting it an Immunity to Ground Type Moves. Which it actually already has via Leviate Ability!
Secondary Effect: Isolates it from the stream and enables me hitting it in particular.
Accuracy Roll Flatter 2: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 2 Allure - 3 Actions = 5d6
Effect: Lowers its Strength by 1.
Secondary Effect: Lowers its Will to make catching easier by the autoconfusion.
-----------------------
For Delphox it's three Shadow Balls, but as soon as he suffers a Pain Penalization we switch to Mystical Fire.
Accuracy Roll Shadow Ball 1: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 3 Actions = 7d6, that means 6d6 and 5d6 for the following Actions. (Same for Mystical Fire)
Damage Roll: 3 Strength + 3 power of the move, no STAB = 6d6 but it'll deal 1 autodamage on Shiny Unown due to SE.
Mystical Fire, if needed, would have 3 Strength + 2 Power of the move + STAB + held Charcoal + 1 Blaze = 8d6!
Additional notes: Shadow Ball has 1 CD to lower Sp.Defense (Vitality) by 1.

Shiva's attention on that Blue Unown was suddenly decreased by another flash of realization, as while she believes to have discovered why the Unown are representing mostly A/T/G/C and therefor figures what the remaining fifth one must be, the others may not, and by no means would she want the mission to fail because she couldn't make herself heard.
She raises her voice to call out for the others, not leaving the Shiny out of her eyes for one moment though. "People, I guess you've by now realized as well that we mostly have Unown representing four particular letters? From what I think they represent the four base pairs usually find in DNA, which makes sense as their Hidden Power revives ancient Pokemon from the murals...Though Professor Laurelin wanted five different letters, is that right Nathan? In that case: Please look out for an U, it's probably rarer, but it MUST be somewhere in the stream if it's all related to genetics!"
"I.... I'll concentrate on capturing this shiny exemplar here meanwhile! Can't exactly see what letter it is just yet..."

Heart hear clear and well what Shiva say! "Understood Shiva! Viktor! Ambipom! Stay alert to see any Unow in the form U! Ambipom, prepare to use Fury Swipes against the Unow in shape of U!"

Ray shakes off some of the water that just drenched him. Ow. That hurt. Well, at least he's still got his snack. Om nom nom. Ray recovers 1 HP, putting him at 3/6. Still -2 Pain, but definitely better than 2 HP. He's curiously peering into the bag, definitely interested in the item's healing abilities. This item just keeps getting more and more interesting...
Seeing Gothitelle readying a Telekinesis to single out an Unown, Nathan figures that's a good idea as well. Particularly since Shiva so kindly pointed out that the letter U is likely the fifth one Laurelin is looking for (though Nathan's not entirely sure why that is...). "Ray, great job blinding that Tyrantrum. Get some rest now."
Taking Ray's place is...Gallade? (It's actually Juliet, though, still holding the Eviolite)
Nathan makes sure that everyone can hear this: "Everyone, if you see an Unown U and we've not separated one from the swarm already, point it out ASAP so we can use Telekinesis on it and make it easier to hit!"
Grid doesn't like the look of that ancient fish pokemon that's flopping around in the mud, so he's gonna zap it, and zap it good! Along with a bunch of those Unown and any other pokemon that decide to pop into existence out of thin air! Rock types or no, he's gonna make sure they're slow!
Electroweb 1-5
Acc: 12 - 1 + 2 - 5/6/7/8 = 8/7/6/5/4 D6
Damage: 2 Pow + 4 Str + STAB + SE = 7 D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: -1 Dex for all hit. Hits 5 random Unown and 2 summoned pokemon simultaneously
One condition for Grid's actions, though: If an Unown U hasn't been captured/KOed by the the third set of actions, Grid will use Spider Web as his third action instead of an Electro Web.
Spider Web 3 (only if an Unown U hasn't been captured or KOed by the time Grid's third action is used, would replace an Electroweb)
Acc: 6* + 3 Survival + 2 Stealth - 7 Actions = 4 D6
Effect: Unconventionally used as a spread move that traps 10 random Unown
Note: Can only be used once because of its nature as a trapping move. And if Grid is KOed, the effects of this move end immediately
Meanwhile, Juliet has relatively simple orders: Attack the pokemon coming out of the Arceus dang walls with one of her most reliably powerful moves: Night Shade! But if somebody spots an Unown U, replace her next action with Telekinesis to single it out if need be!
Night Shade
Acc: 12 - 4/5/6/7 = 8/7/6/5 D6
Dmg: 4 D6
Effect: Fixed damage equal to Nathan's number of gym badges.
Telekinesis on Unown U (if an Unown U is spotted and hasn't been KOed or singled out already)
Acc: Same as Psychic, but with one exception: we're spending a Will Point to add a success to this move's accuracy roll if it ends up being used, because we do not need any bad luck here!
Effect: See Shiva's orders.
As for Nathan, he has a Potion each for both Grid and Juliet if they hit -2/-3 Pain, and is making sure to keep an eye out for an Unown U. He's clocked that purple TM for sure, but that can wait until after the battle!
