[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkk! Despite Primal Glaceon tanked the Hippo's fierly fangs so decently, he eventually staggered and wheezed from being drenched in water from the small whale, causing Shiva to faintly gasp and withdraw her special Eeveelution into the safety and comfort of his Ball. She holds the Ball close to her heart and whispers some comforting and praising words to him inside, since he's not fainted she knows he'll hear. "Well then... You did very well, thank you for your effort. No, don't be distraught or sad: With a bit more training, you'll soon surpass your foes. A lovely voice you have also! Rest a little now, I'll take care of your wounds once the battle's decided."

Shiva DOES get a little worried over whether she and Spira will make it to win this, but doesn't show anything on the outside. Nope, they WILL stand as the winners in the end, she WILL win the needed cash for that Item she desires for, they WILL do it! Instead of Nightshade as originally intended, a very familiar smol and vivid wad of cotton manifests from the tossed Ball: Cottonee has entered the sandy battlefield! She seems super-eager to test out her honed skills and doesn't even flinch from the sight of the huge Hippowdon.

She usually holds something, at the moment a Miracle Seed, but not during this battle.

Lots of 5s today, apparently.  Ah well.

Nathan's honestly not sure the punching pokemon was asking all of those questions.  Ah well.  No harm in entertaining some of them to some degree anyways, right?

"...well, you two are certainly curious, aren't ya?  Writing a book of some kind, I take it?  Well, I guess we have some time to answer those questions.  Guess it's break time, Gallade.  Thanks for helping, Toya."

Gallade nods, though he's still mildly frustrated that he's soooooo close to learning the move, and yet still so far...he's been waiting for this for sooooo loooonnnngggg...he's almost got a proper attack he can reliably use against Steel types...

Ah well.  He'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Nathan recalls Toya into his ball for now and turns to talk to Hitmonchan and his trainer.  Nathan thinks he has an idea of who exactly these two are, in fact.

All the more reason to be careful about what he says around them.

"Yeah, trying to teach Gallade Drain Punch.  He's still relatively new to using Fighting type moves.  He wanted to learn this one ASAP after evolving, though.  Been studying how different pokemon use the move, and now he's finally getting around to learning how to use it himself.  He's making good progress, but...well, it's a tricky move, as I'm sure you know."

When asked about how he met Gallade...Nathan shakes his head.  "...sorry if I seem prickly about it, but...it's a sensitive subject.  We don't share that story with just anybody."

As for if he believes in alien pokemon..."...well, I believe some pokemon do indeed come from space.  Who's to say there aren't extraterrestrial species out there somewhere if there are known species that are said to have originated from the moon and such?"

It was supposed to be an Insight check on Bite 2 which missed. If an action is successful, the Insight check is not necessary. Edited to do that.

Nala sends out a crablike Pokemon inside a coconut shell. She also brings out a coconut-shell drink for herself.

"This is Cocoran! He's a Pokemon from a tropical island called Tandor. Or something like that. He has the power of palm trees and sandy beaches. He evolves twice, but I haven't figured out how that's done yet."

Cottonee: (6)
Cocoran: (2)

"Oh, Hitmonchan isn't offended. Not every story needs to be shared. Hm? Hitmonchan says this alien Pokemon is supposed to be very strange, but not much of a danger. Even when it evolves, apparently. He says it does NOT come from the moon, but from deeper in space, originally."

Deoxys?  Evolving?  Those are not two words Nathan would normally use in the same sentence...maybe they just mistook its form changes for evolution or something? Or are they referring to a different pokemon? Nathan's own curiosity is piqued now, that's for sure...

Swimmers Nala and Paul-David Round 3

Confused Hippowdon's at 3/9hp.
Nubi's at 5/8hp while Cottonee and Cocaran are fresh.

Huh, Shiva has never heard of a Pokemon called 'Cocaran': But with its beady eyes, small stature and adorable resemblance with a coconut she instantly likes this creature. She'd guess it's at least a partial Grass Type, maybe with Ground or Water as secondary Type, and was just about to check that on her Almanac (she doesn't seem to have any fear from drawing this in Spira's presence) - before abstaining from it as she remembers displaying an owned pokedexlike device might not be a wise or safe thing in 1960. (Or are such devices already a thing at that time, Iron? Shiva can always see what her Almanac states about Cocaran later, doesn't have to happen now).

Cottonee is completely unimpressed by that crablike creature Master found so pretty and cute, she even flooffs up her cotton almost aggressively towards it - seems to be offensive-minded today, which was almost weird to see given how dear she usually was. She also hates how that raging sandstorm was blowing sand particles into her neat white fluff. Shiva easily picks her Startermon's mood and eager up and reciprocates that a bit even, crosses her arms in an almost bold posture. So curious to see what her fluffball was NOW capable of! "Alright, Cottonee... Things are a bit dire, but let us...not allow that to bring us down! That Hippowdon's a problem, please drain the rest of its vigor as best as you can. But please not TOO much, we're not up to faint anyone here! That Misdreavus's your battle partner, be nice to him."

---------------------------

No time to set up, we'll go straight to dealing damage! Hippowdon needs to be brought down fast to end this sandstorm, which it'll do as soon as he/she's leaving the battlefield. As soon as that's accomplished, Cottonee will target Cocaran. We'll hold back at appropriate times to prevent accidental fainting.

Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 1: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 4 Actions = 6d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 2: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 5 Actions = 5d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 3: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 6 Actions = 4d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 4: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 4 Channel - 7 Actions = 3d6
Damage Roll: 4*Strength thanks to Jirachi + 3 power of the move + 1 STAB = 8d6, +1 autodamage due to SE on Hippowdon, neutral damage on Cocaran.
Additional notes: Half the damage dealt is restored for Cottonee. Lifestealing to the max.!

Heart pat the head of his young eel. "Great job Typhon. You eletric power become strong after each battle." Heart then look to Meowth who is already out of the pokeball. "Welp, its your turn now Meowth. Go and have fun in the battlfield!" (Insert Meowth reaction here). "Meowth gonna be my 2º Pokemon. What gonna be your choice friend Moses?"

"...attracted to the lights of civilization...hmmm..."

Waaait a second...I just thought of something...Nathan can name another pokemon that seemingly came from space.  In fact, according to the pokedex, it appeared a little over 50 years ago relative to the present time, too...and in a desert, no less...they're not usually found living in those deserts afterwards, strangely, but that's where they were first discovered all around the world...

"...are they calling it a Little Green Man because that's how people who claim to have seen it are describing it?  A small, sorta green colored, humanoid pokemon?"
