As dusk sets in, you and Jiordan patrol Area 6. You're roaming about, stopping people from setting out powerful baits, when you smell something nice and aromatic. Unfortunately, as you reach for the Aromatic Herb, so too does another denizen of the Safari Zone! Two shadowy hands are clutching at the leaves, ready to poison them and wilt them! It's the ghostly claws of a Haunter!

Baits? ...Baits for what actually? To trap strong Pokemon to later force them into a Safari Ball? One way or the other, whenever Shiva does spot someone trying to comit such a crime in cold blood her intimidate traits show through and they quickly agree to use normal bait instead or completely abstain from traps 'cause these are cruel.

Having seen the weather forecast this morning, Shiva also makes sure to warn the Cup- participants she and Jiordan pass by of the upcoming freezing temperatures, asking them to take good care of their and their Pokemon's health as it's much more valuable than victory. Instead of Lilith and Primal Glaceon Vaporeon and Delphox accompany her now, the former to provide free water to people and the latter to help setting up a warming campfire to those who are struggling with it. Raphael stays out to patrol the sky and enjoy the fresh air of falling dusk and the beautiful sight of the setting sun: He chims in to a disarming and sweet melody once more, somewhere between the pages a melancholic tune is concealed.


Eventually that aromatic scent arrived Shiva, despite she had no idea where it came from it almost instantly caught her. It was as if that sweet aroma was calling for her, alluring her, she completely failed to withstand it. That almost overwhelming sweetness, faintly it reminded Shiva on her dear Spritzee! Seeing how both her magical fox and waterly Eeveelution were sniffing the air curiously, they could smell it as well. "Delphox, you stay here please, light up the surrounding for me and warn me if anything lurks nearby that could be a threat. I trust in you to keep me safe... Vaporeon, you come with me." A delightful chip and the duo was off.

The source of the scent turned out to be a beautiful purple plant that Shiva is rather unsure whether she has ever seen before. What a beautiful shade of purple it bears, must have. <3

Just as she extended her hand to gather some of this plant, she flinches heavily and stumbles back in fear. That fear very swiftly made a 180 degree turn though to become anger upon noticing what that nasty Haunter was up to. "Oh nononono, YOU WON'T! Vaporeon, forward!" Following Shiva's outstretched arm, the waterly Eeveelution leaps forward with a determined cry.


Accuracy Roll Vaporeon's Helping Hand on the Aromatic herb: 4 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Perform = 9d6
Effect: A plant can't attack. But Vaporeon can smack Haunter away from it for example!
Secondary Effect: This move has +5 Priority which means it'll go before anythingelse Haunter can pull off.

This will surely initiate a battle 'gainst Haunter, which is very fine. Vaporeon will face the pesky ghost, ready for the Init Order.

I'm pretty sure Chansey will cooperate with me on this so I'll have her immediately use Heal Bell specifically focused on Hida to remove (at the very least attempt to treat) the Badly Poisoned status. Then onward to the next encounter.

You aren't allowed to use traps overnight, but you are allowed to get the Pokemon used to you by providing occasional food, within strict limits. Many people agree with your stance that bait is cheating or should be reserved for randomly-encountered Pokemon.

Good idea providing water to the participants. Take 2 XP for that.

Whew!  It worked this time!  2 Doduo and a Tauros down, 1 Doduo to go!  And said male, mostly flightless bird should be easy pickings now!  -2 Pain, Infatuated, Confused, and Disabled...that's a -5 penalty to its Will to resist capture right there!  Means it only has the minimum 1 D6 to resist!  Nathan chucks a few Safari Balls at Doduo!

But not before he makes sure that it's going to be very hard for Doduo to escape.

Solomon is switched for Calam!

"Calam, Grapple that Doduo if it tries to flee.  Use Quick Attack to catch up if you have to."

As Calam has higher Dex and Quick Attack doubles his movement speed, it should be feasible to do that if Doduo somehow manages to evade capture despite the massive penalties it has to resisting it, right?
