Trying to get a Safari Zone Pokemon used to one via occassional feeding sounds like an attenuated form of or preparation to acquirering, sweet - I like that a lot.
Shiva doesn't have her anti-ghost wolf with her at the moment neither are the Skull Ruins close enough for Nightshade to call this place's spectral power for help, but given how eager and unafraid the waterly Eeveelution looks she should do just as well 'gainst pesky Haunter! This encourages Shiva a lot, her desire to get that curious purple herb is definitely stronger than her fear of that poisonous ghost.
She's almost shouting at it now, and that's also the moment where her 'Don't mess with me'-traits shine through a little stronger than they've done before: +1 Intimidation for Shiva, now being at 3 points (-12 xp). "I'll tell you ONCE and I won't tell you again, this is MY plant. Go and poison somethingelse, go and haunt the sleeping campers, go and do WHATEVER, but LEAVE.US.ALONE. Vaporeon, up with your defensive please before drenching that ghost in pulsating water. YOU ASKED FOR IT, now TAKE THAT." Haunter must have hit a nerve of her if she acts so merciless.

That Umbrella is illegal to use in official battles, but this isn't an official battle and I'd be suprised if Haunter goes to rat on us or even cares. If there's a risk that nearby campers could do so, she'll have to ask Vaporeon to hand her the umbrella. Not interested in catching Haunter, Shiva's main goal is it to chase Haunter off and gather the Aromatic Herb (She'll collect just enough that'd be needed to evolve a Spritzee).

It's not illegal at all to use the Umbrella against a wild Pokemon. The rule is only a fairness one for the good of other Trainers.

HAH! Deserves that poisonous Haunter just right!~ Shiva takes some satisfied pleasure in their defeating, but she isn't cruel nor has she forgotten that it's not allowed to faint even such a bothersome Pokemon. Doesn't even seem to mind too much that Haunter's following her around for a while, whenever they get a little too close Vaporeon chips in and hisses sharply at them.
Because I'm in the middle of creating some pixelart in the background and still would like to get dinner before sleep, I'll keep the rest relatively short:
Shiva would and will call this her so-far activities as a Volunteer Ranger a success, this has even started to be fun for her. Waving Delphox and Raphael to her she'll rejoin with Jiordan to keep patroling a little, before it'll be time to return to the gatehouse for some comfy sleep (She's rather happy that she won't have to sleep over outdoors). There she'll listen a bit to what the other Rangers are sharing about their shifts, activities and adventures and if the mood's right she'll even tell a bit about her experiences - including her success on acquirering a Gloom from Area 5. :>
She'll also definitely head out once more before turning in for the night, if only to have Primal Glaceon and Alola Vulpix enjoy the dropping temperatures and the chill air of the falling night.
She also doesn't miss to sign up for shifts on the next day - first comes first, serves first! It'll be Area 5 and Area 3, once you've let me know how much XP the Haunter Battle was worth, it'll be all from my side for Shiva's day unless something comes up that'd need reaction.

If you're done with Encounters for the day, I need to hear how you're going to warm yourself and protect yourself for the night, and which Area you're camping in. You have a tent and a sleeping bag, but it'll be uncomfortable with just those tools.
Haunter was worth 6XP.
