[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(03-15-2019, 04:28 PM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote: Haha, that's a neat way to be awakened in the morning. 9am would be too early for me though too, unless there's coffee and breakfast with the dice.

We had donuts and root beer. Perfect.

@Spiritmon, we already know that Water (along with Fire and Electric) isn't likely to do anything to the cord that's restraining Keni.  Maybe try Dragon Pulse instead?

I'm thinking the blue chain might be Dragon or Ghost.

My best guess for the linen thread is Normal, since linen is pretty commonly white in color (it can be other colors, of course, but I usually think of it as being white).

And the last one...I'm not sure it's Rock or Ground, actually, since the Water Pulse from Vaporeon did nothing.  Maybe it's Fighting?  If it IS Rock or Ground, though...then we're probably going to be completely reliant on at least one of two things to break that cord: ROCK SMASH because of its sheer power and Heart burning the cords away one at a time each Round.  And if ROCK SMASH proves ineffective, then we need to survive two Rounds against the Scimitars/Almanac while keeping them away from Heart.

Wait a second.  I just had an idea.

Didn't the machinery in the upper basement become disengaged when Magic Room was used?  Pushing the crates probably wouldn't have opened the stairs while Magic Room was active, right?  If Gothitelle used Magic Room again, could the same thing happen here since the crates in the lower levels likely operate in the same way?  That could lock the Scimitars/Almanac out of the room for 4 Rounds if it works, which would easily give Heart enough time to burn away the rest of the cords.

Plus, we wouldn't have to wait for Magic Room to wear off because Gothitelle could just use Magic Room again to immediately cancel it once we're ready to use the cards to get out (or if it doesn't stop the machinery for whatever reason).  Using any of the Room moves a second time in the games cancels out the first use entirely.

@Dragonstrike, we had Dragon Type already, it was a dark purple beam in the upper room. Of course that doesn't automatically rules the possibility out as the scenario here is a tad bit different. Either way, I'm already using Crunch, Rock Smash, Razor Leaf and Gust for maximum chances of succeed, maybe you could attempt a Confusion and possibily Draining Kiss from Gallade?

About the Magic Room idea, humm, it does sound good and doable, what would you say about that, @Iron? Feasible?

@Spiritmon, if I'm allowed to suggest something to you, maybe don't use the same move twice as if it proofs ineffective, you've wasted an action. Which we can't afford to let happen here! (>o<) Try firering as many various Types of moves at the Cord as you can, experiementing and watching the results is it.

Gothitelle would have to be upstairs to make that work.

...welp, so much for that idea.  In that case...I'm actually thinking that I'm probably going to end up getting Grid to lay a Sticky Web trap for the Scims/Almanac.  That'll probably catch them off guard, particularly if a Smog/Smokescreen is hiding it!  I could also potentially have Calam set up a Future Sight and start charging a Razor Wind.

As far as contributions towards breaking the cord, go...Fairy and Psychics' type effectiveness are already covered by the other types being used (Flying hits Fighting, Fighting hits Dark, Dragon hits Dragon.  No part of the cord seems like it's Poison type, either).

I could still have Porygon-Z Psybeam the cord, see if that does anything (the clay covering would have to be Fighting type, though).  Charizard could also try his own Shadow/Dragon Claw or a ROCK SMASH.  Or Air Slash, even.  Gallade, Calam, and Grid don't have much to offer type wise that isn't already covered by everyone else.  Dittogon has Earth Power and Rock Slide for Ground and Rock coverage, but those aren't likely to affect the cord if SE damage is the key.

The other main idea I have is Calam could try using his own stronger connection to Earthpower to break part of the cord with a full power Night Slash/Moonblast.

Hmmmm...okay, so now we know that the Black Ethereal Chains were Ghost type...so that probably rules out the Glowing Blue Chain as being Ghost...

We also know it's probably not Water or Flying since Electroweb had no effect. (unless the cord is immune to all but Plot Device damage)

Hmmm...now that I think about it, sometimes Psychic moves are depicted with blue outlines in the anime...Dragon is still a potential candidate...it's definitely not Ice, though, since that would have been annihilated by the Moltres Egg.

EDIT: Okay, so that rules out the blue chain as being Dragon...hmmm...

So, are we actually waiting on somethingelse than battleorders from @Dragonstrike and @Mikaruge108? I'm just asking because the game feels a bit stalled at the moment.
