[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(03-30-2019, 01:16 AM)Dragonstrike Wrote: Those giant, ultra bulky pokemon are certainly a lot less scary when you're able to constantly exploit those 4x weaknesses Tongue And when you're allowed to use multiple pokemon against them.  And when they don't have increased stats.  And when they have no way to heal themselves.

If you could Curse it, that'd be great.  Flinch probably won't be effective since it's KOed, unfortunately (and Fake Out might also do Lethal damage to Onix).  Burn and Poison might be unnecessary.  With the combination of being KOed while Asleep and Curse, that's a -7 Penalty to Onix's Pokeball resistance.  -8 if Force Palm Paralyzes it.  Enough for a Great Ball to have decent odds of catching that Onix.  Dunny being out might make Nathan a little nervous still, but he'll be able to stay calm(er) once it's clear that the Duskull is not Disobedient (for now).  Gallade will still be sticking close to Nathan, ready to use Night Slash if necessary, though.  Ya know, just in case.  Can never be too careful where Skull Ruins Ghosts are concerned.

So Lapis is still a big enough threat for Nathan, since he has pretty much none of the issues that Onix had? Hurray! Similar things could be said for Angie too, except she has no Recover Move (Yet) and that pesky 4X Weakness to Ice (Which your chara. may or may not be able to exploit).

If possible, that is what will be done, with the Burn not being applied unless Nathan specifically asks for it! Not going to post right this second, though, since I need to get Iron's input on whether or not its possible to Evolve Anubi + Learn Final Gambit simultaneously. Regardless of that, Terra would have Dunny inflict Curse if possible, just to save time for everyone involved if I'm not around to post when Iron is.

Terra would be understanding of Nathan's reservations about Dunny (Since they're all too justified, and would keep them (Dunny) at a respectful distance/by his side to prevent shenanigans on anyone's part. He'd take notice of Gallade's readiness, though, and kindly/politely request they leave any disciplinary action to him alone, as he doesn't want his Ghost to have any reasons to loathe them/their trainer and rather have their (Dunny's) ire directed soly towards himself in the event of shenanigans. That, and because its his obligation to look after his trusted partners, so letting Gallade's attitude slide by would run counter to that and wouldn't comfort Dunny in the slightest.

As for Dunny's own reaction to Nathan/Gallade, that I'll have to leave to Iron. The only people they've really interacted with outside of Terra is Heart, and that was for only one brief conversation, so I don't really have a metric establish to how he would treat other non-special humans/Pokemon.

I've actually got some more detailed reactions in mind for Nathan and co.  Just leaving a general outline in the meta thread for now.

Whoahw, congrats for having defeated that Onix in a signe Round. That's surely something and shows neatly how both Terra and Nathan are capable in battling.

...But that was also somewhat boring to watch-read, it could have been such an exciting and fierce battle ._. Now I'm getting a new insight about my chara/playstile in Pokemon Games generally, probably that's a subconscious reason why I don't desire for my charas to be very competitive as that adds to the necessary fights to be exciting and challenging instead of being able to defeat foes more or less easily. That arises my worry about lagging behind battlewise with Shiva once more, and makes me hope that @Iron can handle things well enough that any future fights are still kept challenging for the others while not being too challenging to give me a chance to make it as well. I'll just trust in you concerning that, okay?

Eh... Maybe I shouldn't worry about that, but it's unconsciously lurking around.

I honestly wouldn't worry about that.  If Nathan hadn't had Terra's help, it would have probably taken him 2 Rounds to beat that Onix, maybe 3.  And considering almost half the damage that was dealt to Onix was Super Effective damage, Shiva could have probably done similar with some combination of Cottonee, Azu, Tropius, Nightshade, Vaporeon, etcetera.

Smart playing was a large part of why we took down Onix so easily, not just because Terra and Nathan are both rather capable trainers.

Yes, it means it's near the mines.  Imagine if you were to throw a ball to someone, but the ball didn't quite reach them and hit the ground instead.  The phrase 'it fell short of its target' would be one way to describe what happened.

Thank you for that decent example!~ My desire to start some mine-exploring increases.

Crowd control can stop a battle before it begins. If you put a rampaging wild Pokemon to sleep, you can consider that a victory.

Furthermore, if I split the XP from Hawluch so that he gets 7 XP total (With the Lucky Egg XP), and then add the 8 + 2 XP he got from blasting apart Onix, that's 17 XP. Add that to the 33 XP he had before, and altogether......that gives him 50 XP total, the exact amount that's needed to purchase Final Gambit!!!

Looks like Anubi gets to Evolve after all, if he can learn Final Gambit while/shortly before it happens! The questions is, though......can he, Iron?

Yes, you can spend XP at any moment. I think it's epic to spend it at the last minute so I always allow it.
