Gym Leader Howl vs Spira Round 4

Howl's bushy eyebrows go up when you whisper that name.

Obedience: (4)(5)(6) v (3)(6)(6)(1)

The presence begets an Ominous Wind.

Ominous Wind 1
(5)(1)(2)(3)(2)(3) (4)(3)
5* Str + 2 power + 1 stab -5 vit = 3d6
(6)(3)(1) Hida takes 1 dmg 2/10hp -2 pain
CD: (3)

Lava Plume 1
(2)(4)(1)(5)(6)(6) (2)(6)(4) Critical hit
2+8d6-4* vit = 6d6
(3)(4)(6)(2)(5)(6) Spiritomb takes 4 dmg 4/8hp -2 pain
CD: (4)(3)(5)

Dark Pulse 2
(3)(4)(5)(1)(3)(3) (1)
(2)(1)(2)(4) Hida takes 1 dmg 1/10hp, -3 pain
CD: (3)(3)

Lava Plume 2
(4)(6)(2)(5)(1)(4) (6)(2) Critical
(4)(4)(3)(4)(3)(6) Spiritomb faints already! Howl looks amazed by how much you held back earlier. The presence in the room fades, giving you just a glimpse of a Cheshire grin fading away.

Howl is worth 20XP. "Let's go somewhere more pleasant and I will enter you into the records."
In a dim sitting room, he borrows the Trainer ID Dagny fixed for you, and scans it. A tube rattles and dispenses a small metal ammo box. He opens it up, showing you a dark striated badge flecked with holographic nodules. "This is the Hornblende badge. It will make your Pokemon wiser. I am also making a log of all the strategies you employed in our battle... in a way, our fight will live on in other fights. Stop by any time you want a drink, and you can take this one with you."

He gives you a Brandy, which is an "energy drink" akin to Lemonade. It's only healthy for evolved Pokemon and physically mature humans.

"Congratulations!"

"Bibarel we can actually put to work! This one seems to have extra special teeth, if it can chew through stone and steel! And they are normally easy to train. Boss'll be happy, good work little lady!"

Oh yeah, that battle was worth 6XP for each of your Pokemon. I think it's fair to give each trainer 9XP.

"If you'd like Sunstone shards, you can pan for them right in the stream! But most people prefer to come see the CAVERNS." He says this last word with awe.

He leads you down the carved paths to an opening, which is another short tunnel following a vein of MSC. Suddenly it breaks open into a huge natural cavern, complete with all kinds of stalactites and pits and swales. "This one has already been mined out. But they're all connected underground. Exploring a cavern is like following a vein of Sunstone! Come on!"

That cavern leads to one that is smaller, but much more grandiose! Patches of the sandstone are luminous and glittering, indicating there's a Sunstone hidden in close proximity behind it! He brings a belt of tools out of the mining buggy and shows you how to use them.

"You can use this pick tool, which is fast but might cause the Sunstone to shatter. You uncover more items this way. Or you can use this hammer and chisel, which is slower but much more precise. You probably have time to mine out two walls apiece before my shift ends. Go nuts! Now it's my turn to keep you safe - I'll be watching to make sure you don't do anything dangerous or need any help."

You can pick out any spot in the cavern - floor, ceiling, walls, pits, side tunnels, stalactites, anything that you can get to.

"Ah, okay, okay.  Gotcha.  Sure, sounds like a good rule.  How about we do a 4v4 single battle then so we can try to take advantage of that variety?  And what about a wager?  I'd be down for putting a little money on this friendly competition.  Maybe about...$2000 or so?  Maybe more, though.  Partially depends on how confident you are, I guess."

Awww, Shiva's pretty flattered over being praised for the job well done, and for being called 'little lady', lolz. It doesn't really show on the outside, but innerly she's rejoicing and singing still; both Delphox and Primal Glaceon take a pride stance by her side.

Oh yes, Shiva's VERY up to see this ominous cavern, eeeeeekkkk!!~ It doesn't need many words to indicate that she's LOVING this cavern, but not as much as she is fond of Elanor itself. She's more of the type of 'slow but precise' due to her talent in crafting, so she'll decide to go for the hammer and chisel as her tools of choise. With that, she'll let her gaze wander around in the near surrounding a bit, summons Cottonee and Gloom at last - could they and/or Shiva's sixth sense possibly help her indicate where (approximately) she has the highest chance to be successful on her mining after sunny stones? If they can't, she'll try her luck on the biggest stalactite she can find followed by a spot on the ceiling she can easily reach without any help.

It should be mentioned that Terra at some point went over to check if Shiva was alright after hearing her cough, but since they were he just ended up giving them a small smile and congratulated them for their part of the battle.

"Well done. Took care of Pokemon without much problem, and kept partners not hurt badly. Takes great skill and power to do that. You are a Wise Woman, and have become an great fighter. Think.....believe you become better and better in time."

Simple, but heartfelt praise from the sagely monk. Not exceptionally rare from him, yet still a much valued thing he gives!

When the fairy woman approaches the Forman, Terra makes sure to be right by her side, both to provide her addition support as she talks to them and kept the boss man from underestimating her again by looking appropriately stern and no-nonsense at them with crossed arms. That facade soon falls apart, however, when she begans to gush anxiously about getting the chance to mine Sunstone, as his face smooth out to an slight but easy grin as he softly chuckled at her exuberance. If there's anything that can get him to soften up and be less of a stoic brick of a man, its seeing his friends and partners being happy, cheerful, earnest, and just simply enjoying themselves in what they do.

Terra takes in the grand and glittering expanse of the small cavern he and Shiva had been lead to with muted awe, looking around at everything with curious and appreciative humming. He'd explored many a cave or subterranean place in his time before, but never a Evolution Mine, and my what a splendid sight it is! So many precious hints of Sunstone and other valuable minerals/metals were embedded in the stone, granting the area an almost luxurious and definitely rough hewed beauty that pleased both his naturalist and mercantile sensibilities. Oh the natural artistry at display, and the profit he could make of it....

Before he could get too into introspective, their miner overseer brought him out of it by explaining the whats and hows to mine the Sunstone and other goodies in the area, which he paid keen attention to. After thinking things over, he opts to take the pick tool to use, as he knew himself well enough to acknowledge that even at the best of times he was about as delicate and careful as a clumsy but kind Ursaring. Better to just play to his literal Strength and attempt to bring in a big haul than to try to fumble his way through the meticulous way.

With that and after checking up to see that Shiva was okay/doing well in mining, Terra began to mine by doing the following:

- He commands Inabi to use his own intuition in finding goodies and pick a wall or spot of the floor in a side cavern and start Digging for Sunstone, MSC, other valuables, etc..
- He releases Genie, and orders her to float up to the ceiling/top of the cavern to search for deposits of Sunstone/other shinies using her excellent eye sight and sharp claws to dig them out regularly.
- Terra himself just picks a wall fall enough away from Shiva to not interfere with her own efforts (But close enough to keep an eye on), and goes to town (so to speak) on it with his pick.

That should be it, so let's get a excavating!

Flick shows up! He's wearing a bomber jacket and a bucket hat. He's about Nathan's age, as you might expect, and he's got a gigantic backpack stuffed with trainer supplies.

"Nice to meet you at last, Nathan! Thanks for helping me out way back when. As I think I mighta mentioned, I've been catching up a storm. Hope you haven't surpassed me. Here's one I caught and managed to evolve!"

He sends out a Marshtomp.
