Whew, that was close.  For some reason, I didn't think Shuckle would do something like that.

Nathan doesn't go to the PC, but he does switch out Mizu for a fresh pokemon.

"This last pokemon I'll be using is one of my most trusted and Loyal companions, and is one of my few pokemon that isn't native to Creshire at all.  We had a rocky start at first, and his appearance doesn't usually do him any favors, but he's a sweetheart once ya get to know 'im.  I'm hoping he'll be evolving soon!  Orthros, let's do this thing!"

The usual sphere of darkness released from the Flash Ball is accompanied by an unearthly sounding howl that would send chills down most people's spines (*Awoooooooo!*), the faint pink glow of the exposed brain shining in the darkness...

...only for it to leave behind a very playful and friendly looking Houndour of some variety!  *bark bark!*  He obediently sits on the spot and pants happily, very ready for a little playtime! He's holding the Fang of Houndoom's Rage, though he looks just as ready to play fetch with it as actually using its effects in battle to his advantage. Nathan can't help but smile and be proud of his doggy friend.

Is this an entirely optimal play? Definitely not. The best thing to do would be to wait until Flick's sent out his last pokemon so he can choose the perfect counter. Nathan's currently in a 4v1 situation, though, so he feels that he can afford to show off a little.

One thing you note while watching the Kennels: Howl sprinkles Sunstone dust and other dusted stones into the food of his Pokemon to toughen them up. You can do this too as a form of Training Session.

Oh, Shiva's very interested in this and finds herself watching closer. She wonders whether the Pokemon are aware of this 'power up' in their food and thankfully accept this extra-care, she'd guess so. Soon she is lost in observing the Pokemon digging into their food and paying extra-attention whether they show any special reaction, how does dust of evolution stones taste??

This is something she'll keep in mind as it's definitely something she may copy from Howl. She wonders whether shards work as well as they can be crafted into evo stones..?

Leslie: "Yes. We'll have to have a formal interview. Shall we have a seat on a park bench? What makes you qualified to take care of a baby Pokemon like Togepi?"

A park bench is very fine, Shiva (and Raphael) will find a nearby on to take a seat on with Leslie. The archangle leans a bit onto Shiva's side and she notices that while it doesn't show on the outside, he's listening closely on what's discussed. He's probably aware of the topic and what's on stake.

Haha, in some way Shiva not suprised by such a question, now a faint sly smile forms on her expression. "*cough* That's a good question, allow me to elaborate a bit. It's not noted on my Trainer's Lisence, but as a daughter of a professional Pokemon Breeder I've literally grown up with baby Pokemon. He is self-employed and leads his own Pokemon Daycare in Castelia City, and he gently introduced me to the field of Pokemon Breeding and Caring as soon as I was old enough to understand and help. I was always happy to lend a helping hand where I could, may it be cleaning or simply playing with the young Pokemon - many people underestimate the importance of the latter, but it's a valid action that gets the hatchling used to a human's presence and care, it makes bonding with its future Trainer easier to a varying degree." She pauses a bit here to gather some breath. "The young Pokemon were always interested in me, some more obvious than the others, mum used to joke that 'they have felt that I'm fond of them'. Now that I am mature enough to be on my own Pokemon Journey, I'm always trying to put what my father has thaught me about the care for young Pokemon into some good and practical use."

"Maybe...maybe the best examples of that are tow Pokemon of mine: An Eevee that he once bred on request, the young one has developed such a liking for me that she openly refused to part with me as her intended caretaker and expressed the desire to stick with me. She's been a loyal and dear pet in the years that followed and eventually became an Umbreon without me deliberately aiming for Evolution. She's unfortunately not with me though, but stayed at home."

"The second in a smol and rather young Azurill that the group I'm traveling with has come across early on our journey. She was sad, downcasted and suffering from a lack of confidence, but when being given to me she appeared calmer and I took her into my care. She's been a companion I hold very dear since then, and as time passed by she grew - not only in size, that too, but she managed to recover some of her lost happiness, it's was a sweet and pleasant thing to watch. Long, long it took, but the moment her deepest wish came true and she evolved into a Marill, I knew all the love I've been giving her couldn't have been spent better elsewhere. Today, she even is an Azumarill that won't ever leave my side out of thankfulness, whenever I appear not feeling well she's taking effort to comfort me and share a bit of the love I gifted her."

Both of those are sweet and treasured memories for this natural fae enthusiast, and the couldn't help but to smile innerly as she told Leslie about those. Now she just sits there and waits how she's taking her words, hoping that she managed to convince her at least a bit.

I'd also like to know if it ever evolves or suffers any major injury."

Ayyyyeee, it rejoices Shiva a lot that she managed to convince Leslie relatively easily, that's neat!~ As she went through the condistions of the adoption, Shiva makes sure to mentally note everything and take the phone number of Leslie as well for the requested calls. She'll even write it on the back of Togepi's Pokeball after it's been handed to her. "Thank you, thank you very much! I'll keep good care of this young one... I'll put effort into seeing them smile again, YESSS!" ^o^ Though she feels like there won't be enough time for that along her journey, but this doesn't diminish her joy and enthusiasm all that much.

She'll kindly wave goodbye for Leslie then and stay at this park bench for a bit longer, rolling the Pokeball in her hands for a bit. Even through this manmade item she ca make out that this young one...isn't doing that well, that they lack a loooot of what she is used to from a Togepi actually. It's pretty saddening for her, but as she looks over to Raphael she tries to put on a smile. "We've made it, my dear archangel - we've saved this lil' one from the cold and nasty hands of THAT woman. Step one is complete, but now we'll reach more difficult terrain... Shall we release them out of their Ball then, Raphael...? Yes? Alright!! At three, one... Two........ THREE!"

In a flash of white light the tiny angel is summoned right into Shiva's arms, from her stuff she draws a handful of Gourmet Food as a welcome-gift. She's tense, awaits how the Togepi reacts to her and Raphael for now before saying or doing anything. (And how Raphael reacts to the grumpy baby version of himself.)

Raphael wants to cuddle, but Togepi backs away nervously from the bigger Pokemon. Her instincts are in disarray; most Togepi would love to have the comforting embrace of a Togekiss. Togekiss instead takes to the air and watches determinedly over Togepi. Raphael is 100% determined to protect Togepi one way or another.

Togepi eats the offered food automatically, with eyes downcast.

Shiva and Nathan get a text message from Professor Mallorn.

"Got word that an application to enter the Skull Ruins has been entered in your name. It will be ready tomorrow morning. Before then, I want to give you a gift. Where can we meet, boss? --M"
