[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

10 shards = 1 stone sounds feasible.

In that case Shiva will hand the good professor a small tuft of pitchblack hair, here and there between the individual hairs small particles can be found that sparkle in the light when held in a particular angle. "T..thank you! >o< Yes, I... am glad he listens too, given his biting force! Please let me know if you find out anything worthy to know, alright?"

That's all already she desired to discuss with him, and her inner urges Shiva to get going soon. "Well, ehm, I guess I'll gotta go then, professor. It was nice to see and meet you, and thanks again for this nice HM! Take care, we'll certainly see or speak one another again, will we? Bye for now!~" Off she is then, with a fluffball joyfully playing 'I'm a nightlight!!', a humaoid psychic Pokemon featuring two spoons and a tiny and gentle unicorn quickly following her.

Some steps later, she's already gone as if she has apparated teleported. She actually did, and finds herself moments later by the Center of Elanor again. Aww, it's great to be here again!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next! The first thing Shiva does is to swap Raphael with her newest fae, that very elusive Clefairy, and then make a U-turn outside of the Center again to skillfully hop onto her Tropius' back. He's instantly starting to flap his leafy wings and take up into the air as Shiva speaks up to him. "Dear one, you remember that very special and very natural grove we've been yesterday, that one an extraordinaire orchid mantis dwelled as its leader, that one a rocky version of you took you under their wings? Please take us there, will you?"

Tropius eagerly nods and starts to fly out of town into this location's direction. Shiva hopes that she'll find this place again, as this is where she'll wish to craft the promised Moon Ball for Clefairy!~ (This will take up her second Encounter Slot of today). It's a very natural process, and she enjoys having this pure and peaceful atmosphere around her not only because it helps her calm down and concentrate.

The remaining few meters to the Dragon Fig she'll take by foot with her Pokemon out of her Balls - ALL of her current Pokemon. "Hello...?", she'll ask into the nothing, "Primal Lurantis? Noble guardian of this grove? It's me, Shiva, again, I've been here yesterday... I just wished to show you that Minicorn and Flabebe have hatched, I wanted to show 'em this place and spend a bit of time here if I may, please!"

Few more notes one some of the things that Nathan heard in that conversation with Mallorn:

- Nathan can't help but mentally facepalm when Shiva momentarily forgets who Bo is.  She at least remembered, though, so...yay, I guess?

- ...and one of Shiva's statements is once again something incredibly bittersweet for Nathan to hear.  He refrains from commenting at length on it again, but...yeah.  It's still a sore point.

- Nathan doesn't have much more to say to Mallorn, really.  He does have one thing to say to Shiva, and it's that he'd like to use the FLASH HM later that day.  And also that they should probably let everyone else use it later today, too.  The sooner they teach the move to the group's pokemon, the better in Nathan's opinion.

Well, I guess Nathan's battle with Terra is going to have to be put off OOC for a bit, so I guess that's going to delay it until Nathan's third encounter.  Looks like it's time to rearrange Nathan's party on his character sheet again...better note the team I wanted to use against Terra down somewhere...

So, in the meantime, that seems to move up Nathan challenging Howl to Encounter 2 for the day!  He's got a lineup of 6 pokemon ready, so the only question that remains is: Is Howl ready to face a challenger with 5 Gym Badges?

and shouldn't Noire's Frisk have activated (assuming either opponent is holding an item, that is)

Honedge is holding a Wide Lens. Honchkrow is holding a Houndoom Fang (basically a razor fang).

No no - this is the legendary Flash Hidden Machine. Cottonee is becoming a blazing beacon capable of turning night into day and blinding all who behold her.

A trio of tiny Fomantis appears and nods at your request. One leaves to relay the message while the other two stay to watch and get in the way.

Probably not, given his stats! But he thinks he's ready.

"Come in! I had a good battle this morning, so I hope you don't mind if I use some Pokemon who don't always get as much exercise. Are you familiar with my rules? All who enter my bunker are granted safety - a guarantee I cannot extend to their Pokemon!"

If so, we can begin this anytime!

"3 Pokemon each, single battle, no trainer items, battle until KOed, right?  And yeah, I don't mind you using some pokemon that need a workout.  Who'd ya face this morning, out of curiosity?  Anyone I might know?  I know some members of the group I'm in were also looking to challenge this gym eventually."

Nathan's first pokemon is going to be Ray!  The dull colored rocks blend in with the shifting shadows...for now...

Question: are the shadows still out of balance from Spira's earlier battle, out of curiosity?  Would Nathan be able to tell if so?

He's fixed the Dusk Stones, but Nathan actually has no way to know that.

"The battle was with a gentleman named Spira. Unusual accent. I quite liked him and we had a great battle. His Pokemon evolved mid-battle, which my Gym is famous for! It was a close match, though it turned out he was holding back, so I suggest you don't do that!"

Howl sends out an Alolan Persian. "This feline shows a lot of promise, though I only recently obtained her!"

"By the light, what is that? That's.... Primal Bulbasaur! It was not that long ago the precursors to men of Elanor would have been worshiping such a creature."

Bulbasaur preens, knowing it's true.

"Ah, so it was Spira that challenged ya first.  Usually I'm the first in the group to challenge the local Gym Leaders, but I guess he beat me to the punch this time since I was busy this morning!  Hehe!  He's been gunning for Elanor's gym ever since we met him, though, so I'm not surprised. Oh, and no need to worry about me holding back. If I'm seriously going for a gym badge, I've got little reason to."

(Out of curiosity, is Howl's Gym actually famous for many pokemon evolving mid-battle to meet the challenge of it? I feel like that'd be something that Nathan might know IC.)

Nathan can't help but smile at Howl's surprise at seeing a Primal Bulbasaur.  "I see you're well informed.  But how well informed, I wonder?  If you would be so kind, let's bring a little light to this Dark gym and make it harder for them to fight back, Ray!" The Dusk Stones being fixed is all the more reason to utilize this first move, too!

Did Nathan say 'a little' light? He definitely meant 'a lot'. Ray's sparkling geode is revealed and starts indiscriminately reflecting light all over the room! And there's possibly a few plants rapidly growing along the floor amid the bright flashes as well, entangling all who get caught in them.

FLASH 1
Acc: 13 base - 5 Act = 8 D6
Eff: -3 Accuracy, temporary blindness for A-Persian until an action is spent to clear it!
Eff 2: Lights up the battlefield!
Note: Might react with the evolutionary stones casting light and shadow around the room in some way, I guess?

Grass Pledge 2
Acc: 13 - 6 = 7 D6
Dmg: 2 Pow + 5 Str + STAB = 8 D6 base
Eff: -1 Dex for all hit by the move!

Power Gem 3-5
Acc: 13 - 7/8/9 = 6/5/4
Dmg: 3 + 5 + STAB + Hard Stone = 10 D6 base

Conditional Order: If A-Persian Flinches Ray out of his first action (or if FLASH 1 misses), use FLASH as the second action instead of Grass Pledge.
Conditional Order 2: If Ray gets Taunted before he can use FLASH, action order will be Grass Pledge followed by 4 Power Gems

Note: If Alolan Persian has Fur Coat, then these moves should be unaffected by it!
Note 2: Clear Body makes Ray immune to all Attribute decreases. He's one tough rock to break down!

Nathan definitely isn't pulling any punches with these orders!

Yes, it is famous for that. Not enough that normal residents of Trillium would know, but Nathan would.

I think Ray is my favorite Pokemon I've invented for this campaign.

Gym Leader Howl vs Nathan Round 1

Fake Out 1
(4)(1)(2)(5)(5)(3)
This move cannot harm Bulbasaur without a crit, but he flinches 1.

"He's as hard as he looks!"

Flash 2
(2)(2)(1)(4)(6)(4) (6)(6)
Persian is blinded! -3 accuracy. The cat yowls! It seems personally offended that you would do this, and it loses much of its pedigreed calm.
Howl looks startled at both the HM move making an appearance and his cat's reaction.

The darkness is pretty much banished for a time, and the Sunstones glow brighter.

Screech 2
(5)(3)(6)
-2 Vit for Bulbasaur No effect on Clear Body. Howl takes a note.

Grass Pledge 3 - Howl blinks behind his shades.
(1)(3)(2)(4)(2)(3) (6)
Persian has 5* Vit and Fur Coat, but the Pledge avoids that nicely! (4)(4)(1) Persian takes 2 dmg 7/9hp -1 pain -1 dex -3 acc
A stunning -5 to hit, plus Persian uses his final action to rub his eyes daintily with a paw. Howl seems a little frustrated at his cat's need to heal itself, but he's wearing dark glasses so he doesn't realize just how bright that Flash was.

Power Gem 4
(5)(4)(1)(2)(3)(2)
(2)(5)(5)(4)(1) Persian takes 3 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain

Power Gem 5
(6)(1)(1)(5)(3) Barely a hit. The stoney energy twinkles through the shifting shadows and sizzles in Persian's fine fur.
(4)(3)(6)(6)(3) Persian takes 3 dmg. 1/9hp -3 pain.
