What kind of bait is available?  I don't actually have anything in my notes on that topic yet.

Terra has specially made super bait from Teazel Valley. They cost $500 and give you +1 net on the roll. He's also got a big pack of El Cheapo bait that comes with the Rod's tacklebox, so you have access to that automatically. You could also try a skill check to scrounge some up.

Let's try a skill check then.  If Nathan doesn't turn anything up that seems like it might be more useful, though, we'll still try the Honey Dipped Persim Berry.  Expendable, but neither are exactly easy resources to come by unless you put in a decent amount of effort to collect them.

Terra nods his head as Tanuki's side of the battlefield is absolutely littered with all Hazards pointy and sharp, satisfied that his plan was not disrupted too badly by Spinda's Fake Out antics. Basteele herself was mildly pleased at the mayhem she had sowed (get pricked, you pricks!), and seemed almost amused at her opponent's efforts into trying to Damage her. Their blows almost tickled, ha! You'll have to do better than THAT if you want to beat her, boo bear!

"Basteele, start Bug Biting Spinda, and don't stop until its Fainted.....or you are. Endure them, and win."

After giving those orders, the mountain of a man looks over to the abnormal lass and poses her a few questions, looking faintly curious and affable.

"Why did you ask I was fan of Dagney? How well you know her yourself? "

Orders: Three Bug Bites from Basteele every Round, until Spinda is no longer Confused, at which point she'll ramp up to 5 per Round. If they somehow Fainted her the first time, then her next Actions (If she has one) will be to EXPLODE in a non-Lethal fashion (If its legal to do so in Tanuki's Gym; otherwise, Self Destruct if that's legal?), targeting not only the ditzy ursine but the pipes too in order to mangle them beyond repair/prevent them from being used as cover/hidy holes (If its legal to do so for the Pipes). 'Nuff said, time to eat that bear alive!

Survival: (1)(1)(1)(4)(6) You don't find anything great, just a few earthworms which are akin to Standard Bait. So you dip a Persim Berry in Honey and drop it into the biggest body of water nearby, which seems to be a spring-fed pond of considerable size.

Fishing check (also Survival): (3)(2)(4)(1)(3) + (5)

Rarity: (6)(5) = 11

You feel a huge tug on your rod, but just then Princess and Zippy get back... with several other Combee in tow? There are half a dozen, all following Princess somewhat calmly despite Zippy sipping around her at high speed, determined to protect her.

They all deposit honey, giving you twice the usual amount. +1 Happiness, +1 Loyalty. (long overdue, really).

Then you reel in the huge fish Pokemon, and find it is nearly as long as a Gyarados! It doesn't seem nearly so fierce, though it does have a massive mouth snapping at everything in sight and nearly chewing right through the macromolecule line of the Super Rod. It's much tubbier than a Gyarados.

I don't think Nathan would have ever heard of this or seen it, but you have heard of foreign Pokemon washing inland from the oceans, possibly released by ships accidentally. You figure this washed in as a smaller Pokemon and grew to this great bulk!

As you're pondering how to fight it, Princess flies forward determinedly! She wants to help.

(Neat!  That puts Princess at 4 Happiness and 5 Loyalty!  And on the note of Tubareel...my initial guesstimate notes are simply a '...great...hungry fish...' and nothing more than that!  Yeah, not exactly a pokemon that Nathan would have been likely to have heard much specific about.  Is this one using the beta design instead of the final one?)

Nathan looks at Princess curiously.  "Do you have a plan?  Because I'm all for supporting it if you've got one!  Let's get Grid to help us too!  His typing is perfect for this situation!"

Let's swarm this fish with bugs!  Are those Wild Combee going to help? If Princess wants to flex some of her leadership skills, now might be a good chance to do so!

Gym terrain is pretty much always considered destructible. I'm not sure how an Explosion could be rendered nonlethal - maybe while the opponent happens to have cover?

Gym Leader Tanuki vs Terra Round 2

The little old ladies get a knowing grin, and mouth the word together with Tanuki -

"Spinda, ENCORE!"

Encore 1
15 allure dice
(3)(1)(3)(5)(5)(3) (4)(1)(2)(4)
Basteele's actions are locked!

Stealth Rock 1
No effect!

Feint Attack 2
(3)(1)(1)(3)(3)(1) (4) It hits anyway.
(3) But deals no damage.

Spikes 2
The battlefield is COMPLETELY littered with Spikes now, but you can only enter at one point so it doesn't really matter.

Feint Attack 3-5
(6)(2)(3)(4)(5)(3)
(3)(1)(1)(1)(5)
(4)(5)(4)(6)
(3)
(3)
(4) Basteele takes just 1 dmg after all that. 7/10hp -1 pain.

For my own record keeping, Spinda has used 3 out of 4 moves.

Princess nods, and welcomes Grid. Zippy hangs back, but the wild Combee attack when Princess says to. Her plan seems to be simple - use as many Bug type moves as possible.

Grid: (3)
Princess: (3)
Tubareel: (4) + 2 +4 = 10
Swarm: (2) + 3 + 4

Princess: (3)

(Tub's initiative?  Might matter for the swarm.  And for Nathan if it can roll a 15 or higher)

That sounds like a good plan in this case since the fish doesn't look obviously resistant to Bug moves! Princess is holding an Itching Powder too, so her Bug Bite is powered up!  On top of that, Nathan's Fight increases to 5 for 32 exp to enable maximum spammage!  That makes him the first character with 5s in all three Skills!

Nathan only issues orders to Grid since Princess has a plan.  Grid is holding an ElectrIzer.

"Screech, Grid!  Then Fury Cutter 4 times!  Let's do as much damage to that fish as we can with Princess's plan!"

Screech
Acc: 14 base
Eff: -2 Def

Fury Cutter x4
Acc: 16 base thanks to Compound Eyes
Eff: successive actions.

Let's Swarm this fish! Nathan also has a few Super Potions prepped to heal Princess and Grid if things get a little dicey for them. This fish looks dangerous, after all!
