[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(04-29-2019, 04:03 PM)Iron Wrote:

(My my! Its a rare occasion for Dice Luck to actually work in my favor on a consistent basis, but here it is! Looks like Apsis' blessing is doing some good here!)

Between all the racket being made by Melly and Furret with their loud AoE Moves in such a short span of time, its a small miracle that Terra didn't lose a part of his hearing for a bit, but as with many challenges he endured it well, with only stoicism and a slight frown displaying his mild discomfort. If he could handle not just the noise but the actual blast from Basteele's EXPLOSION and come out okay, he could handle just about any Move a Pokemon (If said Pokemon was not a Legend or some sort, anyway).

What he was more expressive about, however, was his precious pouch remarkably and most regrettably poor performance against the shrill shrieking squirrel, as their screeching and swift sidestepping squandered her shocking surges. To that, his face was fixed with a sharp frown, and his brow and forehead all scrunched up like a slinky. The outcome didn't catch him off guard, as he hadn't underestimated the rowdy rodent in the least and planned his strategy against them accordingly, but the fact that the Furret was able to so easily overcome Melly's Discharges was a little shocking

'Hm....Tanuki saved her best for last. Melly won't last long against Furret's Hyper Voices if I keep her out, and Oinari less, so......'

His thought trailed off as the solution for dealing with the leader's last came to him, and he returned Melly to her Pokeball, clutching it to his face as he spoke to it.

"You did well, girl. Rest, for now."

The sagely monk then looked back to Tanuki, his expression both neutral and serious as he regarded her calmly and with respect.

"Clever. Fast. Powerful. Your partners are all those things....and so are you. Rare that I find all those.....qualities in a Trainer, and more rare that they can give me a challenge. It is.....*Half grins* ....nice. Very nice. Nathan was right about you, and I am glad. Thank you for giving me such a good, hard battle."

As he spoke, his right hand reached for the Net Ball on his belt, pulling it off and clutching it off to the side and facing towards Lady Extraordinare and her rowdy rodent.

"....But now, it is time. To end this, and for you to meet my last partner....."

Ominously declaring his intent, he tosses out the Net Ball, and summons forth his Milotic, whose's titanic form quickly fills the arena and most likely causes Furret to back-peddle away to put as much space between them and him as possible!

".....My beautiful Lapis Lazuli."

Hearing his name, the living masterpiece opens his eyes and cranes his head back to regard with a warm smile, which they returned with ease as they gave him his command.

"Prepare, and go forth to swamp Furret. Bring us all victory."

Nodding once back to them, the aquatic serpentine fish turned back forward to face his opponent, gazing upon them imperiously as he towered over them. So, you are the last one standing between against him and his master from claiming this Gym's Badge, hm? Well, that won't do at all. Let's deal with that, shall we?

Orders: Sending out Lapis Lazuli as Terra's last Pokemon, as I really can't afford to lose out on completing the DEX Badge Pair and getting that Leftovers by not to sending out my big guns! He'll be using Coil at the start, before Wrapping Furret up and blasting them with 2 Twisters! If they try to dodge out of Wrap, keep trying it until it hits and binds them! It should be noted that he's holding the Life Orb, so all his attacks deal + 2 Damage at the cost of Recoil! That, and their's the Sitrus Berry Malt to consider, if it was not used up in their last fight against the Shield Maiden (Heal Block complicated matters there, and Lapis never left Terra's party at all, so not sure if its still active or not). If Tanuki can overcome a Milotic that's going all out and has Recover just in case, then I'm going to be simultaneously impressed and gobsmacked, but here's hoping (for me) that won't happen!

Moves:

Actions: Coil, Wrap (- 1 Accuracy, STR + 1), Twisters (STR + 2, *Flinch 2*)
Dice Pools: Intimidate, Brawl (12D6), Channel(10D6)
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Gym Leader Tanuki vs Terra Round 9[/u]

"A Milotic?? A BEAUTIFUL Pokemon. One of the loveliest. I'm sorry my Gym isn't more suited for her, though maybe she would have liked the tubes had they been...intact."

"Your Strength is just what I estimated; you're just as mighty as you look and you've taught that to your Pokemon. I think I only own one Pokemon who could hope to stand against you, and I don't use her in Gym battles. So you've definitely earned these rewards: ZigzagOON! Forward! \o"

Three Zigzagoon come forward to present you with the holographic Boulangerite Badge (Dex), a Leftovers (reluctantly surrendered by the Zigzagoon), and $4000.

"Congratulations! It was a fun battle, and thank you for the compliments. Enjoy any time you have remaining in Cress City, or good luck wherever your journey takes you!"

Good job!

Link to the last Round
--------------------------

Whimsi's fresh, Wiggly at 7/9HP and going first
It's still raining, #3/4
Lucky Chant is active on both sides.

--------------------------------------

Shiva's most beloved companion seems to not yet having adjusted to the massive amount of fluff she now bears compared when she was still a Cottonee, but doesn't bother Shiva too much. This battle against the fellow fae enthusiast has quickly proven to be a tricky and tough one and her feelings about it are a colorful swirl of very mixed emotions, but YET she's not giving up hope! She very well knows that she's still got a chance to make it if she plans cleverly and trusts in fortuna's benelovance.

No fear or concern is within her voice as she calls out to her fluffball. "Very well, Co- *cough*  WHIMSICOTT, let us do this! Concentrate on my words, don't mind the rain, give everything you've got!! Set up your castle of cotton and begin with draining the life force out of the cuddly pink ballon.

Whimsi joyfully obeys and FLOOFs up to the max, thanks to her mischivous nature even before Wigglytuf can do anything!

Accuracy Roll Cotton Guard 1: 4 Dext + 3 Survival + 5 Nature + Ethereal Ribbon Bonus - 5 Actions = 8d6
Effect: +3 Defense, means 7*Vitality now.
Secondary Effect: More fluff, thanks to Prankster Ability this move has +1 Priority. I imagine Whimsi now being twice as big as Shiva's head.

Then she allows herself to help herself, licking her lips as the life force of Fairy Types is sugary sweet.

Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 2: 4 Dext + 3 Fight + 6 Channel - 6 Actions = 7d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 3: 4 Dext + 3 Fight + 6 Channel - 7 Actions = 6d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 4: 4 Dext + 3 Fight + 6 Channel - 8 Actions = 5d6
Accuracy Roll Giga Drain 5: 4 Dext + 3 Fight + 6 Channel - 9 Actions = 4d6
Damage Roll: 5*Strength + 3 power of the move + STAB = 9d6, normal damage
Additional notes: Half the damage dealt is restored, min 1HP.

Conditional:

- Shall Cotton Guard fail, repeat that Action with a spent Will Point to MAKE it proc.
- Whimsi's holding a Sitrus Berry to nom at an appropriate time.
- A Potion is also ready to be used shall she fall to 4HP after having expended the Berry.
- I'm curious to see what's Angela's Strength Attribute now, it could make a big difference.

After some time, Heart asked Shiva and Nathan to teach Flash and Rock Smash for some of his Pokemons, according to this list:

In Spira's down-time, he's taking a closer look at the Swabone card that he got from Keni, turning the card, seeing how it catches the light. He then pulls the decayed snacks he picked up in the Scimitar base (mentioned here) and thinks, I wonder how Pokemon would react to this as a held item, or maybe as food?

+3 Defense for Whimsicott! Wowza!

Flamethrower 1
(6)(5)(4)(3)(5)(3)(1)(1)(2)
(3) Whimiscott takes 1 dmg. Angela and Wigglytuff seem impressed by how flame-retardant this fluff is.

(3) Whimsicott takes 1 dmg -1 pain
CD: (3)

Giga Drain 2
(3)(5)(6)(6)(4)(5) (1) Critical! Negated by the Lucky Chant, though.
(4)(5)(1)(6)(6) Wigglytuff takes 4 damage. She felt that! 3/9hp -2 pain
Whimsicott is fully healed!

Flamethrower 3
(1)(4)(6)(3)(4)(2)
(2) Whimsicott takes 1 dmg
CD: (5)

Giga Drain 3
(4)(5)(2)(6)(6)
(5)(2)(4)(5)(1) Wigglytuff faints!

Angela will of course have to send out her Alolan fox and begin the Hail! They'll both have tons of defense now!

With your knowledge, you could definitely whip those snacks up into a food that looks disgusting but tastes good and is healthy.

As a held item, you think they are too far gone for any Pokemon to naturally want to stick them in their mouth.

The Swabone card catches the light so realistically... it almost looks like the light is falling RIGHT THROUGH the card and onto the Swabone within. You swear the highlight changed a little on that skull, on that blade. Sometimes you think you catch Swabone moving when you aren't really looking. A salty sea breeze sometimes blows out of the card, too, powerful enough to move Drifloon a little.

Nathan has both HMs at the moment, so Heart only has to meet him at the Center to teach the moves.

I'm fairly certain some of those pokemon might know ROCK SMASH already, but I guess listing them again can't hurt.

Might want to double check who can learn both moves again.  Here's the list I had come up with from memory: (when did Heart get a Starmie?  I don't remember that, tbh...don't remember Spinarak evolving, either...)

I'm wondering at this point if you forgot to note down/readd Ferroseed's information to your character sheet, too...I seriously don't remember it ever being traded for anything.  Unless that happened behind the scenes in a PM?

Ohh, I see. That clarificates things completely, thanks!~

As Wigglytuff staggers and eventually falls backwards, Whimsicott takes the moment to float over to Shiva for a high-five, then gives Angela a suprisingly aggressive glance. 'There's power within these threads of cotton, bewaaareee!!', she seems to wordlessly yell.

Shiva herself is pleased over how this Round has turned out, and very pleased about her freshly evolved Startermon's antics! Her posture remains concentrated and stable, by now she's completely thrilled by this battle, every vein of her body is filled with fighting spirit. It's quite exciting and fun even, yes!! She feels like the end is in sight already.

She's not suprised to see that extraodinaire white Ninetales again, neither as the raindrops suddenly freeze to become hailstones due to the fox's presence. Seeing her pant a bit though, Shiva calls out to her beautful opponent: "Angela, the next Round may decide everything! But, neither of us has used that formerly agreed one Potion by now, would you be fine if we both abstain from it and see how things go without that aid? I'd be up for that, you see, Whimsicott can heal herself and your Ninetales is weakened, it'd save us both medical resources." A bit timidly she adds "I, ehm, could use every med I have if I shall explore the deep layers of the Skull Ruins tomorrow also" before her chipper self surfaces again:"And yes, I'd be sooo up for a rematch with you even IF I win this!~ I didn't manage to show you what cool tricks that Gloom I 'snatched' from you has learned in the meantime, after all." He's actually in Shiva's party at the moment, but if there'll be another battle sometime, Shiva could spare herself showing Gloom to her after/outside of this battle.

Whimsicott gives herself unafraid of the icy fox's appearance. "Alright, dearest one, you know what to do. Before you enjoy the restored energy though, let your fluff SHINE like a star above us. Ride the night's wind to possible victory !" At these two words, Shiva punches the air.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ninetales rolles a (2) here just like Whimsi, but the fox's Dext is higher.
Her Strength appears to be 'only' 3 through (proof). I've still got a chance to win!!
Ninetales at 2/8HP and 6*Vitality, Whimsi's fresh and at 7*Vitality.
Lucky Chant is active on both sides.
It's hailing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actions depend on Angela's answer concerning the Potion usage, I'm not quite sure whether it's legal what I'm asking at all?

Conditional:

- Whimsi's still holding a Sitrus Berry.
- If Angela prefers to stick to the agreed Potion Usage, it'll be used as soon as Whimsi falls to half her HP after having consumed the berry.
- If Ninetales is still standing by Whimsi performing her 5th Action, a Will Point will be spent to make sure that Action hits.

"*Smiles* Yes, he is. *Shakes head* No need to apologize. My fault tubes are destroyed, and Lapis can handle being on dry land for now."

Grinning again when he hears/sees Tanuki kick into high gear to try and defeat him, Terra's anticipation and excitement for the battle between his living masterpiece and the shrill shrieking squirrel began mounting higher and higher, as he awaited the climax of his fight with restrained eagerness! Yes, this is exactly the sort of Fight he loves to be a part of. Where both sides fight with all their might until they can not, no matter how insurmountable the challenge they are faced with. Show him and Lapis your unbridled Strength, Tanuki, and let us see if you can overcome their's.

Soon, though, his Gym Match against Tanuki came to its almost inevitable conclusion. Lazuli had thoroughly beaten down Furret, rising up his long, sinuous body up into the air and let out a melodious and jubilant thrilling cry, flushed with triumph and radiating his nearly unearthly grace. Yet again, he claimed another victory for himself and his cherished partner, proving their hard earned might and his own majesty once more!  Each battle or opportunity to show off his Alluring beauty re-affirmed and validated his and his partner's achievements for all to see, so no matter how often either happened and in most circumstances, winning/succeeding at anything was always be worthy of celebration for him. After being a meek and ugly Feebas for so long that could hardly accomplish anything, how could it not be? Perhaps that made him a bit egotistical and vain, but he more than earned the right to be both in his opinion.

Terra himself shared in his aquatic serpentine beauty's easily and readily, beaming along with them as he nodded, very much proud of them for much the same reasons they were. Admittably, though, he was a bit disappointed that the rowdy rodent didn't prove much of a threat in the end, but that was a feeling he eventually quashed. They did very admirable despite his earlier partner's efforts stacking the deck against them hard, so they a worthy foe in his eyes that deserved his respect, not pity.

He claimed his Badge and Prizes from Lady Extraordinaire's  'coon dogs calmly and happily, though when he saw that they were not too happy giving up the Leftover he bent down, reached into his pockets, pulled out several handfuls of marshmallows and other tasty snacks he'd made in his free time, and bent down to present it to the collective as an offering to appease them.

"Here. Don't be....upset, and please enjoy these treats."

Once he's done with the Zigzagoons (How do the Ziggies react to the treats?), the sagely monk stands back up and approach Tanuki, sticking out his hand and giving her a small smile.

"Thank you again for the good battle, Tanuki. Will always remember it, and......take more care in judging Pokemon. Can always surprise and catch you off guard, like all of yours.  May your future days be great as you are."

 *Beat*

"...What is that partner of yours? That you say can......stand against me? Curious to know, but you don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

Additionally, Terra also inquired if she breed and would sell Normal types to those that offered to pay for them, and if so, which species. He didn't actually want to purchase any now (Not after his finiacially ruinous deal for his/Nathan's Zorua's), but maybe in the future after he was done training/raising Oinari sufficiently he would get one if possible. That, and he was naturally curious about her and her Pokemon, after seeing them all in stunning action!

Also, he offers to pay for the damage for all the pipes/tubes he/Basteele broke with EXPLOSION and help clean up all the Hazards/broken pipes. Its the least he could do after wrecking her Gym!

After all's been taken care of at the Gym, he Teleports back to Elanor and gives Helios back to Shiva before heading off to bed, but not before going to the market and buying an Engima Berry for $2000 Poke! He's heard and known about these....well, enigmatic Berries and their arcane properties back in his homeland, but never got the chance to actually use one himself before. For now, though, it would remain uneaten, as it had been a long day and he want to get some rest, instead of inviting Lady Luck and/or her sister Miss Fortune to pay him a visit by munching on the Berry now.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
