[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(05-14-2019, 01:14 AM)Lord Windos Wrote: You choose Kelda, essentially because of her uncertainty makes her all the more vulnerable for course correction, conflicting points to her world view, and general outside influence? NICE! I never knew Nathan could be so manipulative and predatory, but that just makes his ploy all the more brilliantly awesome! Keep up that line of thinking, and you'll beat the Scimitars at their own game, a most deliciously ironic outcome for those bastards!

Knowledge is power, ya know.  Though it definitely helps a lot when the person you're 'manipulating' is answering your questions truthfully.

Meanwhile, Cosh is about to be on the receiving end of the more pointy end of Nathan's sharp wit. ;P

Not sure if that's the best idea, though, for multiple reasons....

I have a functioning set of a gauntlet lurking in my Inventory myself, dear. ^_^ Took it from a defeated Water Scim back when we met Juni and her people. That thing needs to be surgically 'attached' and it appearantly takes years to learn how to use it even if your mentor's a competent one, so I'd rather not...go in that direction... A Scimitar isn't really the kind of magical girl Shiva would aim to be, and I'd bet Ven wouldn't wish for her to be a Scim either.

Everyone seems to have a Scim partner now, yayyyy!~ I'm somewhat happy that Kelda's there too despite I changed my mind and chose edgy Arachna, curious to see those elemental blades in action.

@Iron, if I may ask, did you actually expect for the negotiations to work when you threw Cosh and Co. at us here, or were you already preparing for a spectacular battle?

I'm always ready for battle!! Negotiating was an option, but I didn't have anything particular in mind that would work. I like the compromise of allowing in one Scim for each player character, and the PC's getting to pick! That was cool, led to some interesting stuff. And changes upcoming events in interesting ways.

Everyone take 20XP, and 10XP for a Pokemon of your choice.

A dangerous situation being defused without engaging in combat can be worth as much exp as brute forcing it at GM discretion!  And there were a lot of enemies in that encounter.

One question for @Iron: I decided to give the 10 exp to Emolga, who's holding the Lucky Egg.  Would the Lucky Egg's effect apply in this case, or no?  My gut feeling is no (partially cuz there was no combat, partially because Emolga wasn't really involved in the scene), but I wanted to double check.

I'll use 24XP to outright give Shiva a 4th point in Knowledge Skill, she has learnt more than enough along the way for that to be reasonable. \(^o^)/ No need to rp that out in a specific way.

Lucky Egg needs the Pokemon to at least be involved.

.........You know, when I first sued for peace with the Scims, I just did it because it was something that Terra would do, since he wouldn't want to waste time, resources, and put his group in unnecessary harm's way by fighting the archmages before diving into the Ruins. I honestly didn't expect that it would actually work, though, no for anyone else to go along with it. And given that my chara is the beef cake character with hardly anything in the way of diplomacy (beyond certain esoteric forms of it), it makes the outcome especially ironic. I don't say this often, but......thank you everyone, for going with my idea. Makes me feel real good and special.

I can't wait to see how the Friction Filled Fellowship changes things too, mate! Hopefully not for the worse, as that'll just make my accomplishment this day most bittersweet!

Seeing as Terra pulled off a major diplomatic victory for both sides and has keep in mind Nathan's/Howl's warnings about being feeble minded, he now endevours to expand his mindand growing even wiser for the challenges ahead, both within and without, increasing his Insight for 20 XP in the process! Now he's mildly sociable now, when his Intimidation factor isn't getting in the way!
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
