[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
The eerie spinning heads of the silent Sigilyph could strike fear into the heart of any tomb raider, but Spira's ghostly companions easily block the fear effect and instill one of their own.

Sigilyph A : (3)
Sigilyph B: (3) + 5 Dex + 5 Survival
Noire: (5) + 8 = 13

Heart sneaks close enough for a peek in one of the cage blocks. The doors are about to come off their hinges, but inside you can see several non-Kadabra Pokemon reaching through the bars.

-A severe looking Hypno, making a menacing gesture
-A sleeping Musharna with no mist
-An uncomfortable Mr. Mime, in cold iron chains
-A Woobat small enough to fit through the bars, clearly at home
-A Slowpoke, quite unaware of everything
-A Meditite trying hard to concentrate despite obvious pain, and
-A Medicham with a look of rage, trying to wrench the bars from the cage
-A Beldum magnetically attached to the bars of the cage

Nathan traces the meowing to one corner of the jungle gym, where there's a heap of old blankets with two yellow eyes staring you down. They give a very quiet "Mew!" at the sight of you. Unfortunately, with every quiet noise, the Sigilyph atop the jungle gym turn their heads your way, then relax again when there's no movement. Their departure could trigger the swarm of Unown on the jungle gym, so the cat Pokemon seemingly is being very careful.

The button in question isn't far from the bundle of blankets, but is quite a bit higher. About 20 feet off the ground.

While Spira isn't confident that he's figured out the type of the ancient guardians, he figures they are at least part psychic, "Okay Toya, start things off with a Shadow Sneak, then try to slow them down with a single Thunder Punch and Ice Punch combo to each. Noire, Shadow Ball twice on each of them."

Noire:
Shadow Ball A
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Fight(5)+Canalize(4)-Actions(4)= 10D6
Damage: Strength(4)+Item(1)+STAB(1)+3+SE(1)= 10D6
Notes: 1CD Reduce S.Def by 1

Shadow Ball B
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Fight(5)+Canalize(4)-Actions(4)= 9D6
Damage: Strength(4)+Item(1)+STAB(1)+3+SE(1)= 10D6
Notes: 1CD Reduce S.Def by 1

Shadow Ball C
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Fight(5)+Canalize(4)-Actions(4)= 8D6
Damage: Strength(4)+Item(1)+STAB(1)+3+SE(1)= 10D6
Notes: 1CD Reduce S.Def by 1

Shadow Ball D
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Fight(5)+Canalize(4)-Actions(4)= 7D6
Damage: Strength(4)+Item(1)+STAB(1)+3+SE(1)= 10D6
Notes: 1CD Reduce S.Def by 1

Toya:
Shadow Sneak:
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Survival(3)+Stealth(1)-Actions(5)= 4D6
Damage: Strength (4)+STAB(1)+2+SE(1)= 8D6
Notes: Priority +1

Thunder Punch A
Accuracy: Dex(5*)+Fight(5)+Brawl(4)-Actions(5)= 8D6
Damage: Strength(4)+3+SE(1)= 8D6

Sigilyph Round 1

Shadow Sneak 1
(4)(2)(3)(4)
(1)(1)(6) Sigilyph A takes 1 dmg 8/9hp

The eerily silent birds move into position.

Tailwind 1
(2)(4)(3)(5)(4)(1) (4)(1)(4)(3)
+2 Dex for the ancient birds

From the silent birds a strange... noise? emanates. Spira gets the feeling no one else could hear it, but he and the ghosts do. The ghosts react violently, while Spira just detects it as a faintly annoying hum. You can imagine in ancient times these patrolling Pokemon warding off groups of invaders with such a noise.

Synchronoise 1
(3)(6)(4)(1)(2)(4) (4)(4)(1)(5)(5) (5) Critical hit.
5 Str + 5 power + 1 STAB +2 crit -5 def = 8d6
(1)(2)(6)(5)(4)(5) (1)(4) 4 dmg for both Pokemon 8/12 and 5/9hp

Shadow Ball 1
(3)(2)(4)(4)(2)(6) (5)(5)(2)(1)
(3)(5)(1)(6)(4) Sigilyph A takes 4 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain
The CD are ignored.

Shocking Grasp 1
(3)(1)(4)(3)(4)(6)
(3)(1) Sigilyph B takes 1 dmg from Elya. 8/9hp.

Synchronoise 2
(3)(2)(4)(1)(6)(2) (6)(6)(6)(2) Critical hit
(3)(6)(1)(6)(1)(1) (6)(6) 3 dmg 5/12hp -2 pain, 2/9hp -2 pain

Synchronoise 2
(6)(1)(2)(4)(5)(3) (3)(3)(1)(5)(6)
(5)(4)(5)(6)(1)(1) 3 dmg 2/12hp -2 pain. Noire faints.

Thunder Punch 2
(4)(3)(4)(4)(5)(5) Critical hit
(4)(5)(2)(4)(2) Sigilyph A takes 4 dmg and faints.
CD are ignored.

Shocking Grasp 2
(3)(2)(4)(4)(5)
(2)(3) Sigilyph B takes 1 dmg 7/9hp -1 pain.

Synchronoise 3
(3)(3)(5)(4)(2)(5) (2)(4)(3)
(3)(5)(6)(5)(1)(1) Toya takes 2 dmg and faints.

Shocking Grasp 3
(1)(6)(2)(4)
(4)(5) Sigilyph B takes 3 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain

"These Sigilyph are strong, Spira! We need to take great care not to wake any more. They used to be the guardians of this place when it was a thriving community."

Air Cutter 4
(4)(1)(3)(5)(5)(1) (4)
(3)(1)(5), (4)
Spira takes 1 dmg
Elya takes 2 dmg

She weathers the cutting wind to reach melee with the bird again.
Shocking Grasp 4
(5)(4)
(4)(6) Sigilyph B takes 3 dmg 1/9hp -3 pain

Air Cutter 5
(6)(3)(4)(5)(2)
(1)(2)(4), (3)
Spira and Elya take 1 dmg

Should be easy enough to deal 1hp of silent damage, right? The Sigilyph will probably go first, however.

Nubi: (2)
Hida: (6) That was the only number that helps!

Sigilyph Round 2

Incinerate 1
(4)(1)(6)(3)(5)(1)(2)(6)(2)
(6)(4) Sigilyph B faints.

Your side of the battle is 12XP, +2 XP for heroism.

This should have come up in Frisk, but each Sigilyph is wearing a small golden collar with an Apricorn-shaped charm on it. Each collar is worth $5000 like a Nugget.

Now that they are unconscious, Spira loots those collars! He's not going to make a capture attempt, though.

And you don't have a button to press, so that's the end of Spira's encounter.

Yellow eyes?  Hmmm...when you say the eyes are yellow, do you mean the sclerae (the 'whites') or the pupils?

Because there are a few felines with yellow in their eyes that I could name.

- Glameow and Purugly (yellow sclerae, blue pupils)
- Shinx and Luxio (yellow sclerae and pupils)
- Luxray (red sclerae, yellow pupils)
- Female Meowstic (yellow sclerae, red pupils)  [And if they look like a Meowstic's eyes...do they look familiar to Nathan at all?]
- Metalynx (though Nathan probably wouldn't recognize this one)

Nathan quietly points to the swirling steel grey and red colors that might be Skarmory and asks the feline a question.  "...do you know if that pokemon up there is a Skarmory?  I'm looking for one along with a bunch of other pokemon."
