[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

Nathan traces the meowing to one corner of the jungle gym, where there's a heap of old blankets with two yellow eyes staring you down. They give a very quiet "Mew!" at the sight of you. Unfortunately, with every quiet noise, the Sigilyph atop the jungle gym turn their heads your way, then relax again when there's no movement. Their departure could trigger the swarm of Unown on the jungle gym, so the cat Pokemon seemingly is being very careful.


The button in question isn't far from the bundle of blankets, but is quite a bit higher. About 20 feet off the ground.

Yellow eyes?  Hmmm...when you say the eyes are yellow, do you mean the sclerae (the 'whites') or the pupils?

Because there are a few felines with yellow in their eyes that I could name.

- Glameow and Purugly (yellow sclerae, blue pupils)
- Shinx and Luxio (yellow sclerae and pupils)
- Luxray (red sclerae, yellow pupils)
- Female Meowstic (yellow sclerae, red pupils)  [And if they look like a Meowstic's eyes...do they look familiar to Nathan at all?]

Nathan quietly points to the swirling steel grey and red colors that might be Skarmory and asks the feline a question.  "...do you know if that pokemon up there is a Skarmory?  I'm looking for one along with a bunch of other pokemon."

As soon as you say that, the cat murbles to itself contentedly. It guessed correctly! It shuffles out, revealing a female Meowstic with long, shaggy, matted hair. A far cry from the usual restrained perfectionism of a Meowstic. Then it points at the grey and red and nods urgently.

Heart sneaks close enough for a peek in one of the cage blocks. The doors are about to come off their hinges, but inside you can see several non-Kadabra Pokemon reaching through the bars.

-A severe looking Hypno, making a menacing gesture
-A sleeping Musharna with no mist
-An uncomfortable Mr. Mime, in cold iron chains
-A Woobat small enough to fit through the bars, clearly at home
-A Slowpoke, quite unaware of everything
-A Meditite trying hard to concentrate despite obvious pain, and
-A Medicham with a look of rage, trying to wrench the bars from the cage
-A Beldum magnetically attached to the bars of the cage

Heart was engage to break those lock and release the pokemon, but it is strange with so many pokemon gathered in one place. He then ask to Gendry who is his partneer. "Do you feel any danger with you survival instinct Gendry? We can't let those Pokemon in that cage in this place!''

As soon as you say that, the cat murbles to itself contentedly. It guessed correctly! It shuffles out, revealing a female Meowstic with long, shaggy, matted hair. A far cry from the usual restrained perfectionism of a Meowstic. Then it points at the grey and red and nods urgently.

Well, that definitely would throw off whether Nathan would recognize them...however, if they've clearly been here for awhile...

One more quiet question from Nathan as he blinks in semi-surprise.  "...are you...my dad's Meowstic?  Marco's?"

He breaks the hug and quickly introduces his partner, then gets down to business.  There'll be time for a longer reunion later.  "Gallade, meet Meowstic, one of my dad's strongest offensive pokemon.  Meowstic, this is Gallade, my closest friend and partner.  Alright, so...let's get Skarmory back.  20 feet above us, huh?  Hmmm...wait, we might need electricity to trigger these switches..."

Actually, this might be less of a problem than it first appears to be.

This sounds like a job for Emolga again!  He should be able to just fly/glide (with a boost) up there and trigger the switch with a quiet Nuzzle, right?

He's also a lot smaller than Charizard is, and thus less noticeable.  And not needing Telekinesis to get up there is another huge boon since it means you're not as easy a target.

The only downside is that freeing Skarmory might aggro some of the wild pokemon...

But with both Meowstic and Skarmory around, that might not be a problem at all!

"Can you get ready to set up a Light Screen in case it looks like we'll get attacked, Meowstic? I have a Solosis that can prepare to set up a Reflect simultaneously (it only costs 3 exp for Solosis to learn, which she definitely has). Better to be safe than sorry, right?"

"This is a difference between me and you Scimitars: I not sacrifice inocent life's." Then Heart look to the Pokemon inside the cage. "I gonna take you all out of these cage. Please don't attack me or my friends alright?"

"Rose, use a restrain Flamethrower to burn the lock of that cage."

"Doublade, use Rock Smash to break the lock when it's melted and weakned."

They are ready to fight in case those Pokemon try to attack us.

Meowstic gets it ready. 

Emolga is pretty much the perfect Pokemon for this, yeah. So with a Nuzzle, the Capture Web flashes and activates! There's that familiar sound again, that familiar flash of light on a massive scale, and with a SKREE of pleasure the Skarmory of Marco Warren is released!!! 

This can't help but alert the Kadabra, but Skarmory is very excited to see you! It flies rapid circles around the chamber, and makes ready to swoop down and pick you up.

Just from the presence of this Pokemon you can tell it is very powerful and full of Surprises. Every wingbeat carries the latent power of the Legendary FLY Hidden Machine. Nathan has seen Skarmory do some amazing things, though you were too young at the time to understand exactly how they were done. You just know this thing is loaded down with unusual attacks and useful stat boosts and rulebreaking effects, the kinds of things you need to go toe to toe with the E4.

Gendry looks a little grumpy, but he just readies to fight if things go badly.

Rock Smash is pretty loud, but weakening the bars first will help with the noise.

Empathy: (5)(2)(6)(4)(1)(2) = 3 successes
Hypno Will: (4)(3)(4)(1)(2)(1) = 1 success. Hypno goes quiet as you burn through the cage. He pokes his head out cautiously, doesn't seem hostile now since you were kind enough to let him out. 
Medicham Will: (3)(3)(6)(1)(3)(6)(4)(3) = 3 successes. Even Medicham comes out quietly, though it is extremely wary of Heart. It's about to bolt and just run for the entrance.

The rest come tumbling out of the cages, except poor Mr Mime who is trapped in there, and Woobat who seems to live there, and Slowpoke who is just slow on the uptake.

Heart gets 4XP for his selflessness. But what's he going to do to keep this flood of Pokemon quiet?

Oh, and the Luxray button is on the other side of the tangle of released Pokemon, down in a crevice on the wall like a crystal growing within a stone.

Heart think for a few seconds...he knows he doesn't have enough time to return to the entrance and bring everyone with him. Until he get a idea. "Guys, I have to put you all inside Pokeballs for now and send you all to the Pokemon Center for better treatment. I promised if is the wish of you all I will free all of you, but I have a important mission to complete. You all have my promise."

Action: Break Mr Mime and then offer to use Pokeballs to send everyone to the Pokemon Center, who in this case would be Hypno, Meditite, Musharna, Mr. Mime, Slowpoke, Beldum and Medicham. This is 7 normal Pokeballs used.
