Lilith gestures and the fossil comes flying over to her. Geodude perks up and follows. But when he arrives at the party, a leering face comes looming up behind him out of the shadows, four dark hands outstretched in a hideous gesture!

Red eyes, a blue helmet, and sparkling orange gems make up the eerie grimace. Cofagrigus has found you.

The less insightful among you are instantly stricken with fear, but Shiva instead picks up an intense feeling of loneliness, of trying to fill a void by any means possible.

And in those grasping hands, looped over one finger apiece, you see four golden keys.

Spira calmly says "Hmm... A Cofagrigus... Never seen one of these before." Spira's response to Shiva clinging onto him is to (dunno how this'd work out) calmly pat her head. While he can't sense the loneliness that Shiva can, he can still tell that it appears to want something. "Say, I think we could really use those keys you and, I'm assuming, your Yamask followers are carrying, is there any way that you'd let us borrow them for a little bit?"

"...do you know anything about the king that's apparently coming soon, Cofagrigus?"

This Ghost is definitely unnerving him, but since it's being...friendly(?), Nathan can manage to swallow his own paranoia.

When you don't retreat before Cofagrigus, it seems a little surprised. But your innate terror increases by great leaps and bounds as a portion of the coffin's headpiece slides open, expelling a burst of musky air and briefly revealing a dull light. A shadowy hand withdraws a mouldering ancient crown and briefly shows it to Shiva before hiding the treasure away again.

What does this mean? It can only mean Cofagrigus misses his kingdom.

Shiva is equally suprised by this Cofagrigus, it indeed doesn't seem so be so scary, ill-natured and dangerous as science always warns; at least not this exemplar. She even starts to feel sorry for it, for IT, an ominous and luckily very rare Unovian Ghost Type almost every other person would run away from. After having increased her grip on Spira's shoulder once more in a non-painful way to express thanks for letting her cling to him, she eventually lets go (but stays close to him).

"You miss your kingdom, do you....?", she more whispers in compassion than in fear, "I see. I can relate to that, it must be horrible to be the only one left - I'm sorry for what you had and have to endure, noble and precious Cofagrigus." Shiva's being very honest as she voices that, faces the grim spectral coffin directly even. "Is there...no way we, an innocent group of travelers on the search for artifacts, can help or redeem you, anything? Can't there be a way to reunite you with your kin?"

For example, via Toya 'delivering' him to the Ghost World? Shiva also blatantly hopes that her expressed sympathy softens Cofagrigus up or at least prevent him from becoming angry about being asked about these golden keys. No need to worry about that, yay!

Kind of, but your question seems to have slightly missed the mark. Cofagrigus rears up as big and scary as can be, looming over you. But, knowing a little about this species, you realize it's not trying to scare you. It's trying to communicate what's on the other side of that door.
