[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
(06-19-2019, 04:12 PM)Spiritmon Wrote: "I promise to be quick as possible, I promise. First of all, who are you? And how did you get caged in that cavern?"

Kee mentally notes that promise and will remind that ninja-guy on it if needed. "You've already got my name, edgy-ninja" - Kegeki too gets that unamused glance that over-obviously tells 'I DARE you to ask whether I am named after the Berries or the other way round' - "...and what is yours? IF I stick around with ya people, that'd be something nice to know."

"I already told ya I have absolutely NO idea how in my island's deity's name I ended up in that horrible, damned and frosty cave, the soundboard rooms of Roxie's club usually DON'T lead there. Open'd the door, then all's black, then there's ice, end of story. I didn't do drugs, wasn't lacking sleep and would have noticed if some fool put something in the drink I was havin' while repairing all the speakers she and her band overexerted and therefor broke during the latest concert. They really like to do that, fanservice." His expression becomes an annoyed one when thinking about that, but when being honest he 1.can comprehend that and 2.that technology is his field and job anyway.

When Ran - that's he's gonna call this semi-old man from now on just because - calls him a globetrotter, Kee lets out a suprisingly toneless laugh given is usually melodic voice, and watched his own refelction in the drink simply to avoid facing Ran. "I guess so, haha. Not by choice though, family circumstances, you see." He's not up to speak further about that point and will avoid any prying.

Therefor, he's delighted that things switch to a more pleasant topic which is music even, yaaaaaay!~ He visibly cheers up in body language and voice without accidently becoming conceited. "Right you are, Ran! ^0^ I play the same stuff my boss Roxie does (Which I headcanon as a punkrock with aspects of metal), but just for own sake because I am not the biggest fan of the stagelight. Prefer to handle the technical stuff before, during and after her concerts, which she lets me do with glee." His mind adds 'because nonelse wants to'. He proceeds in a calm manner though despite Ran has started semi-raging."My clothing style's just reflecting my fave music genre (Trance and Happy Hardcore). If ya don't like it, I don't mind nor care as I won't change it just because of that - it's THAT easy." She shrugs indifferently then gives Ran a semi-approving look - aww, he's familiar with the trait of having a strong opinion on things, even if Kee himself usually does NOT voice it thanks to his Sylveon's calming persence. "Well, at least you DO have an opinion on things not like the many many people who don't and just sway with the wind." +2 sympathy points for Ran. Whoahw.

Most of what he says about gay people though Kee doesn't even listen to anymore, partly because he already knows that this guy's set on their way of thinking. Which is a good thing as it means they must have quite the guts AND unafraid to show them regardless whether it offends anyone, yes!

Another pleasant topic's comining up, which is the talent of both their Chatot! Ran simply owning one of these special birds already makes him want to grant another sympathy point. ".....Fascinating, even more when you didn't teach him yourself and willingly. Chatot are clever beings by itself already, but even among them there seem to be exemplars that are more eager to learn than others - you sure are a smart one, Bethooven. Here, enjoy if you like." From somewhere within his bag Kee draws a handful of bird seeds that he usually feeds his own two birds with, and either lets Bethooven pick them from his hand directly or hand it to Ran to give his Chatot a treat himself.

"Fair's fair, right. Mercury's currently - HAH! We've both named our Chatot after a great deceased musician, cool - healed up, otherwise I'd show you what makes him a vivid clock running with an accuracy without equal, his sense of time and rhythm is extraordinarily honed. I didn't teach him in that either, but I do making good use of his talent, he happily takes the job of a metronome when I practice. Enjoys to keep track of how long he took to defeat a foe and is always chasing the best time like a speedrunner. At a different time we can have our birds get to know each other, maybe. Possibly. Whatever."

"Kee huh? Understood. Mine is Kogeki. Kogeki Kuraymi. Tandorian from East Tandor. Since we do some presentations, let's go to the next set of questions."

"What you know about the Wall back in the cavern you were? Do you have any parent or friend you can enter in contact to help ya? Don't need to say names, just a yes or no it's enough."

"The only Wall I know of is the one Pink Floyd describes in the lyrics." Usually he'd pull his electric guitar now and play the riffs just because being triggered, but he's still too cold. "So, nope. Featured a nice drawing, that's it."

He JUST managed to not give Kogeki a rather annoyed look for his next question, but it must have still offended him in some way. ".....Neither yes or no. They're too far away and have raised me to get by on my own, and with my current 24 years I heck DO so. Prefer not to pull anyonelse into thie misery."

Uh, let's see, the first thing Kee does once everything's cleared and discussed properly is getting a room in this Center (ugh, he must step in contact with THAT Nurse Joy to do so (ಠ_ಠ) ) where he'll spend a bit more time with leisure and retuning his guitar until his body temperatur has returned to a normal degree. That'll be when he won't return to the lake for swim but heads into town to get some warmer clothes. He dislikes spending cash on them when ACTUALLY he's got some at home already, but it's either saving the money and freeze to death or spending the money on a peace of mind. .....He prefers the latter.

He ends up finding a nice wool cloak in black with darkgrey highlights that's held so simply that it's stylish again, it's an insta-bought. That should do it, yay! Minyan, having joined on that trip, points Kee to a different gothic cloak that, when tried one, would make him remind on a vampire. "Draven, that'd be something for Marilyn Manson, but not for me. You've got quite the keen eye though, hehe." Said catbat gives a pleased and smug purr in response for this praise.

With that done, they can finally take it a bit easier and wander town a bit without searching for anything in particular, Pokemon and Master simply enjy each others presence and the snow around them, since a while winterly landscape is something Kee rarely ever experienced, if at all. He's coming to the conclusion that he could have landed somewhere much worse when having stepped outta that door of the soundboard room, maybe this isn't THAT bad - still, he'd prefer to get back home the soonest way possible.

If there's a bar or similar in Snowpoint, that's where Kee and Draven head to next (A cafe does as well). The former will either order and enjoy a Jack and Coke or a strong black coffee because he needs to progress what has happened with him and he has some time to kill. Draven's simply appreciating and enjoying his undivided attention given that this blue faelike Eeveelution is currently not around to harbour all of it.

Mechanics:
How about a battle for the 2nd Encounter? Kee's not the kind of guy to approach people and throw a happy and eager 'Let's battlllllleeeeeee' into their very face with joy, but what about another guest of this bar/cafe approaches him with a provoking 'I've never seen you around here, boy, and and I'm here everyday' which results in a Pokemon fight? I'd like that.

Perferably a Double Battle with each using two Pokemon = 2vs2, no Electric or Steel Types, no Item Usage apart from the held ones, no fainting. Is 1000$ wager enough to get a 'moderate' challenge?

*Flashback Continues, and reaches its Conclusion.....*

Ran quietly took mental notes of what Kee was doing prior to being whisked away to Lake Acuity, and all of it pretty much confirmed to him that whatever force behind the mystery and those damn murals was responsible for kidnapping them.

'Probably responsible for all the unusual Pokemon appearing in Mt. Coronet too, if that's the case. If it can transport a random johnney all across the world, I doubt its much harder to flood those caverns with whatever this.....thing was, for whatever fire forsaken reason. Even if its unrelated, what happened to this hooligan is bad juju and badder news, no matter how it's hammered. Bah.....'

When they alluded to the fact he frequently worked on technology, the bristly blacksmith's eyes lit up in interest, and a made a note to himself to ask them later if they could possibly help him cobble together that Robo Prosthetic for Kogeki. Fixing, maintaining, and setting up musical equipment isn't the ideal technical and electronic based skill set to work on complicated machinery and tech, but it was better than nothing or his own ham fisted attempts!

---

Welp, he was right on the money with his guess, for that now revealed colorful musician practically lit up and became a whole new person as they briefly discussed their what seemed to be their life's passion, causing his lips to turn upwards ever so slightly in a smile. 'So this lad isn't just a big o' ball of sass and attitude, and actually has something love to work hard at and do, eh? Fantastic. A career in Music ain't what I call the most stable or sustainable of Pursuits, but I can respect anyone who'll give their all for it, regardless if they succeed and become star shooting up the charts. My own life would be worse off without their contributions, 'cause a life without good music is a pretty bland and sad one, hah!'

*Chuckles*

"I usually am, Kee. Sounds to me ya enjoy your work and make sure its done right and perfect as ya can make it, so I got no complaints! The music you play probably isn't to my taste, but I can still respect what you're doing. A life with no good music is worth about as much as the sheer boredom without it, which I find isn't worth piss in my opinion, so keep working hard at it, lad."

Despite the bumpy introductions with each other, Ran could see himself coming to actually like this rocking Unovian. If not as a friend, then at least someone he can tolerant be around and talking with on occasion, which is vital to any sort of working relation he may or may not develop with the lad. The fact they shared a similar attitude may be a problem, but it was also going a long way in making him respect and admire them in the first place, so he'll take in the good with the bad.....for now.

As for the matter of their clothing, he just shrugs again in a sort of devil-may-care and gruff way. "Don't hate your cloths, and like I said I don't care what you wear. I just think you look silly wearing them off-stage, especially here in this Frosslass cursed cold of Snowpoint. If ya want to prance around the city like that, then its your Messingkugeln that'll be freezing, not mine, so do as ya like."

He actually laughed at their light praise, closing his and bearing a grin that very moment!

"That I do, lad! You won't find anyone more adamant than ME in their beliefs, and I'm not afraid to tell them how I things when I can afford too! Not even you a spry lad like you, Kee, hah hah!"

----

"Yeap, it sure is. Beethoven's always been a mouthy and curious little bird, so I guess picking up that musical talent of his was just the next step, really. Glad he did to, 'cause having his namesake's music on me journeys made the stressful moments just fade away. At least until some other annoyance came along and ruined the mood...."

The singing canary stopped his classical tunes to tweet happily at the sight of bird seed in the sour dandy's hand, before fluttering down on Ran's now stretched arm to peck away at them, making weird and funny sounds while eating.

".....Not sure were he picked that up from, but it usually means he likes what he's eating. Don't usually feed him birdseed over Pokechow or Berries, but it's a nice treat every now and then."

Randolph nods approvingly at Kee's Chatot's name and speaks a little about it - "Ah, Mr. Mercury. Great musician too, and a damn shame he died before his time." - and listens keenly about their own talents.

"Mercury's a living clock and stopwatch? *Whistles* Not bad, especially for a musician like ya. Guess we both got some of the brightest birds around! *Nods* Wouldn't mind a bit introducing our Chatot to each other, lad. Maybe they'll share their secrets with each other, if they hit it off well enough!"

Best bird bro (Who had fluttered back to Ran's shoulder when he finished eating) let out a questioning/skeptical tone at that declaration, but seemed open and accepting to such a thing. He was a fairly easy going and friendly guy when he was not battling or on the job, so making friends with another of his kind was no issue with him! It was the teaching part that left him skeptical, but he didn't completely dismiss the idea out of talon.

And with that, this.....

*Flashback End!*

With that done, the scene should transition to its conclusion below:

Quote:

Since Kee had more or less said they were going to join the group, I'll/Ran will assume they silently gave them their affirmative, which means they offer him a firm handshake and gives them his number. "Call me if you get in any trouble or need me for anything, but try not to ring my ear off if ya can help it. Got it?"

Then he would proceed to his Encounter that's outlined in the spoiler directly above! Thaaaat's it!

EDIT:

(Wow, what good timing! Let's get into the thick of things then, shall we! Mind if you remind me what Ra stands for, tho?)

Upon arrival at the docks, Ran would initially spot the Sailor and what he was doing, and start making his way over to them, thinking they might have some of the goods he was looking for, but then he spots what looks to be some real hotshot of a Trainer wandering around like they own the place, which get him to pause and think a bit.

'Salior from the tropics probably has a bunch of sundry Items and stuff that be useful, but a 'professional' trainer could have Items that could help increase the performance of my Pokemon. Hmm......guess I'll go check out the Trainer then. If they're a bust for what I need, at least I can get some more practice in for my partners, especially....her.'

With that decided, the midget man approaches the elite trainer, appearing polite but business-like in his manner.

"Greetings, lass (I assume they're a girl?). Name's Randolph. Been looking around here for some specific Items and Pokemon, and was wondering if you had any or could point me in the right direction."

Here are the following Items/Pokemon he mentions:

Karen and Kogeki go to the Trainer School, looking for some opportunities to battle.  They each happen upon a different set of teachers and students.

Hmmmm...now, as for Kee's encounter...

Well, first of all, let me clarify that everyone's pokemon are fully healed by the end of that introductory conversation.  And yes, Octavia does indeed come running up to Kee excitedly as soon as she sees him walking up to the Pokemon Center's counter (much to Draven's displeasure).  Healing machines are wonderful things, aren't they?

Nurse Joy wordlessly takes Kee's trainer card information and assigns him a room.  Back to her paperwork she goes!

--------------------------------------------------

There's plenty of bars and cafes in Snowpoint, particularly since it's a port town.  It isn't the busiest port town out there, but it's busy enough.  The bar that Kee ends up visiting is called Froslass's Spirits.  It's a popular spot for those who like darker atmospheres.

The encounters work a little differently in my campaign since I determine the rarity and difficulty randomly.  I'll treat this like a Pokemon Center encounter, though the setting is a little different.  The odds of getting a Moderate encounter in 5 separate rolls is pretty good.

(5) Uncommon
(5) Moderate! Ding ding!

As Kee sits down to try and enjoy his caffeinated beverage of choice, a male Roughneck sits in the spot next to him!

"Well now, what do we have here?  Some kind of dandy fellow with rainbow colored sleeves and a ponytail?  You're a long way from home, ain't ya?  What's a dandy fellow like you doing around here?"

Their age would also gets his attention, as that yet another prodigy in the ways of Pokemon Training he's meet today, which causes him to mentally sigh and feel a bit disappointed.

'So much talent and drive, spent on such a fleeting dreams with long odds. What a shame, and what a waste.that is....'

Ran obviously doesn't vocalize/hint at his thoughts, though, and instead just nods as the foreign lass confirms she has a couple Items he wants.

"Yes, they are, which is why I've been searching all over for the dang buggers. Makes me wish they were mass produced and widely available, instead of being collector's Items, but that ain't so. (...) Hmm.....that so? How much would it take to part ya with them, then? I got $9000 Poke and a TM for Avalanche that I can bargain with, and a wild Crobat that's unruly but is very strong and stacked with good Moves. As for other stuff I can provide, I'm a top notch craftsman, so if ya need anything made, chances are that I can do it. I also have access to Snowpoint Temple, so if ya want more strong Pokemon and can handle them, I can get them for ya too. Does any of that sound interesting enough, Vicky?"
