[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
(06-25-2019, 09:01 PM)Lord Windos Wrote:

For $1500, that's gonna be a shard of a beautiful Moon Stone, too broken up to be used for evolving anything, but still large enough to be a pretty setpiece. This store also sells Evolutionary Stones, though they can get to be quite pricey when you start talking about whole, usable versions of the rarer ones...

Fortunately, the store has juuuust enough Type Gems available for that purchase (they have 3 of each in stock).  Each Gem comes in a case like this one:

(This image happens to be a Dragon Gem.  Interestingly, the anime didn't feature them much, only showing 1 each of the Dragon and Fire Gems)

To make a custom piece of jewelry for Zorn using a Dragon Gem...let's say $1100-2100.  Again, that's for the 'affordable' range (500-1500 Necklace + 400 Gem + 200 Custom Job).  If you want to pay more for a fancier piece of jewelry, feel free to do so.  And once again, since this is a custom job, it'll take them some time to complete it (it'll be done after encounter 1 tomorrow)

----------------------------------

*rolls*

Nothing of any particular note seems to happen when Diam eats the Dark Gem.  She does think it's rather tasty, though.

She can also somehow tell that Randolph has more of them on his person, and is eagerly trying to get into his bag to 'find' them.

----------------------------------

Zorn's response: suddenly turning around and angrily punching the wall!!  Puck starts, turns around, and starts watching Zorn muuuch more carefully.

Empathy: (5)(4)(2)(5)

He seems to be...frustrated?  Yeah, definitely frustrated.  Given how Zorn completely deflates after venting that frustration, though...well, he's probably not angry and frustrated at the wall.  That wouldn't make sense.  Ran knows that Zorn has a tendency to vent his anger on the things that made him angry in the first place, though...so what's causing him to be so frustrated?  It definitely has something to do with the battle against Candice...and yup, Zorn definitely found something wanting with his performance in that battle...but what?

"We must focus in put that Gyarados in deep sleep. Nagi, put that thing to sleep with Hypnosis (Using Nagi Will Point to grant another dice success). Then use Calm Mind and Nightmare if he is still sleeping, but in case awake use Hidden Power instead."

"Susano'o, that thing is powerful, so we need a great power. Swords Dance(again, using Will Point to gain dice). Then use Iron Head(sheer force) and Night Slash (Sheer Force if possible)."

Also, don't forget the effects of Leftlovers okay? I also using 20 XP to increase Nagi defense. Don't also forget Nagi has priority of all his support moves due to Prankster.

Hypnosis: Base Dice(9)-Accuracy(4)-Action(2)+Will Point(Automatically 6)=3D6+1
Effect: Put target to sleep.

Calm Mind: BD(9)-Action(4)=5D6
Effect: Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense +1 each.

Nightmare/Hidden Power: BD(9)-Action (6)=3D6
Hidden Power Damage: BD(7)+STAB(1)+Calm Mind(1)-Rain(1)-NE(1)= 8D6-1
Effect: Nightmare always cause 1 damage, and cause 1 damage against the foe but only works in sleep target. HP change the weather.

Swords Dance: Don't matter now, using Will Point.
Effect: +2 STR.

Iron Head: BD(9)-Action(4)=5D6
Damage: BD(6)+SD(2)+SF(2)+STAB(1)=11D6
Effect: Does it Matter?

Night Slash: BD(9)-Action(6)=3D6
Damage: 10D6
Effect: Don't matter.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

Haha, there's something extremely satisfying about that Roughneck being so rueful at last and taken care of by that fierly helldog. Octavia still doesn't really calm down as long as said dog is present and nearby, but as long as she isn't seperated from her caretaker and as long as he keeps providing gentle strokes behind her ears, she'll be okay. Hopefully. At least that dog's following orders, so yay.

Core's pretty hesitant about showing his wounded arm to anyone but his owner, but he lets the officer patch it up as a first aid without fighting it and even has a low and timid squeal for her once she's finished that would translate to a shy thank-you. Kee himself displays another semi-playful salute once she's done which neatly overplays the faintly agonized expression he gets over the thought of having to bother that Nurse Joy again. "Understood officer, good job officer!~" He follows her back into the bar for further questioning, his Pokemon in tow.

Once things are dealt with, Kee does indeed make haste to the local Pokemon Center, he can't afford to let a Pokemon of personal value suffer for longer than needed. Towards the Nurse Joy, he just wordlessly and neutrally hands his musical dino and his respective Ultra Ball. "Please don't ask. Not my fault. An Arbok has been set against me, his wounds could have been much worse." Shiny and happy Sylveon - still comfortably sitting there on Kee's shoulder and having her ribbons waving freely - prefers to stay with him however; despite she's pained and tired (2/7HP) she obviously prefers to not be seperated from Kee a second time today. A good night's sleep and she'll be fine too! Musical rave-trainer is all happy to let his blue beauty stay with him.

Back to the bar then they go. Hooray for free drinks (and free cash), now he can finally dwell here for a bit in peace! If the bar serves anything that's especially for Pokemon or at least safe for them to consume, he'll order that for Octavia and Mercury to honor them for their good performance, but otherwise he just does stuff you'd normally do in a bar. Towards the bartender, Kee offers a sly "You're a good guy. I'll come back to this place when I can!~" as he eventually leaves.

Only on the way to the Pokemon Center - it's dark by now and it's even more chillier that during the day - Kee's turning into a sad and almost pathetic image of a guy as he still doesn't understand why in the island's deity he ended up in this frosty town in Sinnoh. Must be a side-effect of the alcohol in his blood. He probably arrives at the Center shortly before the Professor would arrive and takes a seat at the table Randolph's dwelling at currently.

(....Does he have to be present and listen in to what the good Professor has to tell? I guess so if he'll more or less help handling this mysterious happening at the mountain, and it's somewhat responsible for why he came here in the first place.)

Alexis Round 4

Increasing Nagi's Defense to 3 also increases his Level by 3!  He's now Level 30 (which increases the damage of Psywave and Night Shade to 3 D6).

Alexis's cocky smirk is soon wiped off of her face as all of a sudden, her Gyarados isn't the one who's going first, which is something she hadn't been expecting at all.

Hypnosis 1
(4)(1)(6) + 1 (spend one of Nagi's Will Points!)
Gyarados fell asleep!

"...wait, what?  Does that thing have Prankster?!  Come ooooonnnn, Gyarados, wake up, wake up, wake up..."

Wake Up 1
(1)(2)(3)(4) 1 success accumulated

Susano'o raises his swords into an offensive stance this time!

Swords Dance 1
3 Dex + 2 Contest + 1 Perform - 2 + Will = 4 D6 + 1
(5)(3)(4)(2) + 1 (spend one of Susano'o's Will Points as well)
+2 Strength for Susano'o!

Nagi centers himself.  He's gonna need it if they're going to be fighting a massive sea serpent...

Calm Mind 2
(5)(1)(4)(2)(1)
+1 Special and Sp. Defense for Nagi!

Wake Up 2
(4)(3)(4)(2) 3 successes accumulated

Susano'o rams that snake with his pointy head as hard as he can manage!!

Sheer Force Iron Head 2
(6)(3)(1)(4)(3)
4* Str (Intimidate is still active) + 3 Pow + STAB + 2 SF - 4 Def - NVE = 7 D6 - 1
(5)(2)(5)(6)(6)(2)(6) Gyarados takes 3 damage! 19/25 HP -1 Pain

Nagi attempts to torment Gyarados's slumber...

Nightmare 3
(6)(3)(4)
Gyarados takes 1 damage. 18/25 HP -1 Pain
Gyarados began having a nightmare!

Wake Up 3
(5)(3)(3)(1) 4 successes accumulated

More quick, powerful strikes from Susano'o's swords!

Night Slash 3 (It does not benefit from Sheer Force, same as in the games)
(1)(6)(6)
5* + 3 - 4 = 4
(4)(5)(3)(2) Gyarados takes 2 damage! 16/25 HP -1 Pain

Wake Up 4
(2)(1)(2)(1) 4 successes accumulated

Kogeki's Light Screen and Reflect wear off.

The Rain stops.

Gyarados is locked in a Nightmare! Gyarados takes 1 damage. 15/25 HP -1 Pain

The plan seems to be working!

Seeing as Karen's also at the Pokemon Center when Kee returns she says something to him; "Y'know, I just realized this, but you'd totally look good wearing a red knee-length coat."

Karen then proceeds to take out her phone and send Jasmine another message

(*snort* 'A red knee-length coat', something like this but for guys or at least androgyn?)

At first, Kee's just giving that hetreochromia-girl a somewhat questioning/wondering/what-the-f#ck-look, but he soon calms down and lights up. "Karen was it, right? Well, if you say so...... There's only one way to see whether you're right."

If it doesn't take an Encounter (even IF it does, I've still got a free Slot), he makes his way out of the Pokemon Center and into the nearest clothing store or that one that's still open, and soon return wearing exactly such a long red coat. "You're happy now? It's at least comfy and warm."

Blame it to faint amount of alcohol in his blood. And his default flashy cloathing style.

Oh yes, a piece of Moon Stones would be eye-catching, so I can see him just metaphorically snatching it up soon as his sight fell upon it! Moon Stones were pretty, rare, and pretty rare, so a piece of one would make for a perfect gift for Roark!

Ran would have to prevent himself from snorting at how pompously the Type Gems were presented to him, but that wouldn't prevent him from buying all of them he wanted. The Gems were a useful Item, and all those cases could be re-purpose for other uses later.

Hmm.....he'll will pay $1800 Poke for Zorn's Dragon Treasure, then, since that's all he can afford to pay for it before going broke. If it's possible, though, he would refrain from buying the Steel Gem so that he could pay $2200 Poke for it instead. Not much nicer than the 'max' affordable price could afford, but the thought counts!

---

The moment the scaly terror starts venting, Ran hops backward towards Puck, regarding them with wary suspicion. Brave and stubborn as he was, the midget man was not stupid enough to linger near an irritated Dragon, especially one he hadn't fully bonded with yet. When Zorn got legitimately angry or upset, that was when heads usually start rolling, and he wanted to keep his own firmly attached to his shoulders, thank you very much!

Thankfully, they deflated shortly after that fit o' fury, prompting the bristly blacksmith to cautiously approach them once more after he spent a little more time thinking about what was the real pisser for them.

"....Yeap, guess I was right. If I had to take a couple of guess.....you're upset that Candice managed to spook ya, that you couldn't finish off that damn yuki onna, or some combination of both? Am I right, or wrong like a Bronzong?"

Not purchasing the Steel Gem is fine if you want to spend a little more on the gold necklace.

--------------------------------------------

*ding!*  Right on the money!  Zorn just sadly nods and slumps in his spot against the wall.  He's just so...frustrated at how cowardly he was back there.

(I was thinking something more along the lines of this): "As I thought. It suits you." just need to add white gloves She twirls her free bang, (the one that doesn't have her 'mega barrette') thinking, then says; "D'ya have anyone close to you?"

Excellent! Then that's what he's going to do! Ran's not sparing any expenses for his partners, even for a right bastard one like Zorn!

---

Randolph lets out a long *Sigh* as he finally cottoned on to what was putting his subterranean drake down, and got close enough to give them a pat on the back and look them in the eye.

"Zorn, their ain't no shame in how ya acted. It's perfectly naturally for Ice types to intimidate ya at least a little bit, and Candice and her frosty beasties are right menaces that practically embody the deep, bone chilling cold of their Element. Especially that yuki onne. *Shudders* .....Truth be told, that Pokemon of Miss Jackie Frost scares me too. You wanna know why? 'Cause legend has it that their in the wild kind go about freezing any poor, unlucky bastard solid, and then displaying them in their secret lairs.  And that's just the least they can do to ya."

"*Grimaces* ....When ya faced that yuki onne, I thought she was going to make a popsicle out of ya, or do Heatran what else. But she didn't. You, through ya own initiative and Sheer Force of Will, managed to not only endure all the hell she sent your way, but you gave her one hell of a thrashing right back! Shoot, you'd actually beat them, were it not for them snacking on their Sitrus Berry! Think about that for a minute, Zorn. You managed to practically beat a elite Ice type, one of your very antithesis when it seemed like she'd deep Freeze ya instead. If it weren't for ya efforts, the rest of our team would have had a hell of a time beating her 'fore she managed put everyone else on Ice. "

"*Shakes head* So you wanting to call it quits after your fight with that  yuki onne? That wasn't coward move, but a smart one, ya dang hard head. Even if it was, I think you more than earned the the right to duck out. And staying in, to fight to the bitter end in, when you hardly got a chance left? That's plain stupid."

"*Sighs* ....I know that you're a big Dragon brute that prides themselves on their Strength and ferocity, but there's more to fighting than that. Sometimes, ya have to give it your all. Sometimes, ya have to be clever and tricky with your opponents. And sometimes, discretion is the better part of valor, and knowing when to cut and leave."

The dwarven craftsman gives his 'mean' Dragon another pat on the back, and crossed his arms while giving them a firm stare.

"Gist of what I'm say is this: you were not a coward in our Gym Battle. You fought hard, survived by the skin of ya teeth, and got out when you could, instead of putting yourself through needless suffering. Understand me, Zorn?"
