[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

Binacle Horde Round 2

Psywave 1
(6)(3)(2)(3)(2)(6) (1)(4)(6)
(4)(2)(2)(5)(6)(4) Binacle F takes 4 dmg

Giga Drain 1
(4)(6)(4)(3)(3)(6)
(6)(2)(2)(6)(1)(5) (3) Binacle F faints

The remaining two Binacle flee. This makes Solosis very happy! +1 Happiness

16xp!

Kelda is well-suited to this encounter and about a match for Nathan's two less-experienced Pokemon, so she should be doing about as well.

(5) She seems to have swept the Binacle cleanly, and obtained an unconscious one for Arachnautilus who can make use of Clamp.
The goth girl isn't quite as uncomfortable being gifted a Pokemon by another Scimitar for "business use." You see them huddled around, swapping their Scimitar-Pokeballs around with the four new recruits.

...was kinda hoping Servine would go first to potentially heal a little more HP before the battle ended, but okay.  It's not as big a deal as with the rest of Nathan's pokemon since both Snivy and Solosis have recovery moves.

Solosis is happy the binacle fled?  How odd for her!  Sounds like it's helping to boost her self confidence!

...hmmm...Nathan might have a question or three for Kelda later, when they've made camp for the night. Definitely not now, though.

Anyways, Nathan DOES have a Flying type pokemon who could possibly carry him down: Charizard!  In terms of the two species in general, Charizard is around the same size as Skarmory.

That's fine, he can be at full HP since he could take pot shots at the retreating Binacle.

Which of Marco's Pokemon should Skarmory bring on the first flight?

Neato.  Got out of it unscathed after all!

Hmmmm...so there's a bigger than usual Luxray, Meowstic, Feraligatr, and a large and heavy Mamoswine...

I'd suggest Feraligatr (cuz he's aquatic) and Luxray (cuz he has an advantage against Water types).

Very well.

You go flying down on your Pokemon, paralleling the waterfall. Normally I'd require a Dex roll for Charizard, since he has consequences if he hits the water, but Nathan has trained him with his own supernaturally dexterous training method!

The Scimitars have equipment and spells for this, mostly involving Arachnautilus and some Pokemon borrowed from Gendry earlier.

Paralleling the waterfall, you come to a strange realization. The waterfall does not flow at random - it enters an enormous dark red rusty tube with blue gems on it. It glows with hot light. This tube curves in a simple arc down under the rocky ground toward which you are now descending. You see quite the archipelago here, a land of a thousand small islands. From high in the air, they seem to be of different colors and textures. You can also tell that some of them are made of rocks and sand, yes, but others are made of pulverized ships and guarded by more Jellicent. These shipwrecks are arranged in square patterns, like the minarets of a sunken castle wall surrounding the archipelago. Far far away at the very edge of the light, you can see more masonry walls forming a perimeter of the true Slowpoke Well.

Two Slowbro are opening a circular hatch in the tube, and removing something in a rush of water, but they both suddenly dive aside as you approach and weasel away into little holes in the island.

Two bulky Pokemon swivel to face you - Shiva realizes they move stiffly, like something mechanical. Each of the Pokemon stands on four solid legs the color of the big catchpipe, at the end of a long random path of destruction as if dragged by some great force and left to rest here, at diametrically opposed points on the major central island. They have a spikey beastlike head and a torso like an Avalugg. Rising from each torso is a strange toroid. As you approach, still 200' in the air,, each of these donut-shaped contrivances splits in half and becomes two tubes, like the ones in Tanuki's playhouse. The four tubes are aimed straight at you!

Cool. Does it - to Shiva - look like it's her Omastar's doing, out of curiosity? I still kinda like this creepy nautilus.

Natural fae-enthusiast mindfully holds on both the Shield and her vivid fluffball as the flight on Skarmory takes them down the waterfall, she's looking somewhat scared as if being wary of what may or may not lurk down this darkness - it reminds her on her own encounter with the daaaarkness up in the Barrow Downs. h, thinking about it, she also makes sure that this Ratsy in her pocket is safe and can't accidently fall out even if they decide to take a look outside said pocket.

With fascination she watches as that waterfall isn't as random as it looked to be from above, that red and rusty tube it enters though is giving her a bad feeling. A baaaad and ominous feeling, she is certain that she has seen a very similar tube on a Pokemon depicted and decribed in her books. She can't quite make out which one yet though, but she musters that tube with worry and hesitation - and a good amount of respect.

She's also fascinated by the archipelago down there, these Ruins surely are a weird and curious place in good and bad sense!~ There's little time to admire the various small islands as just then these two bulky Pokemon intercept - as they show themselves, Shiva mentally facepalms. THESE are the Pokemon that she was thinking of when seeing that vast tube, indeed they were, it's mythical Volcanion!! Whoahw. As they aim at the group though, Shiva immediately asks Skarmory to come to a halt midair and not move an inch further. She also gets a firmer hold on the steely flyer as she definitely does not wish to fall down from this height too.

For a little, she only musters these two Volcanion with narrow eyes. They were moving stiffly - they could be very well just artificial replicas of the real Pokemon, so she pays attention whether she can feel them being 'alive' in the first place. Clearing her throat, she also raises her voice to adress them (she's being bold this time): "Be greeted, great Volcanion, greeted by nothing but a mere group of travelers. Mark my words when I say that we mean no harm, but we'll defend ourselves shall it be necessary, but we do NOT aim to be the aggressor. From beautiful Mega Syrentide's Wishing Well we come, having found ourselves here now.... This is the domain of the King we're entering now and you are the first guards protecting it from intruders, is this true? Correct me if I am wrong. Tell me...." She takes a deep breath.... "Is it a kingly Pokemon from our own ranks you wish to see to allow us to pass?"

Terra's first reaction to seeing two immensely formidable Pokemon aiming what appeared to be pipe-like cannons at him and the group and deduced their intent was thus: Curiosity at the strange Pokemon, then surprise, followed by alarm and grave, GRAVE concern. He wasted zero time reacting to this imminent threat upon his life, summoning Arete and quickly + firmly hold them against his chest, shouting Orders to them and his 'little' girl Angie!

"Arete, stay still in my hands and Shield Me from their attacks!! Angie, Evade!!"

If he was close enough to them/think he could hit them, he'd also throw a Pokeball at the pipe monster that was targeting his friends in order to distract it. No way of telling that would work or not, but hey, it's doing SOMETHING!

(Angie's Evade would be 9D6, since Terra has 4 DEX and 5 Fight)

Good thinking, Shiva - you don't sense any life in these Pokemon at all.

However, they don't respond to your questions and you see a bit of foam appearing in their cannons as they charge up for an attack.

Cosh whispers "We're still in the Slowpoke Well. Only the uppermost ramparts of anything belonging to the King should still be here. Everything else sunk below when the earth itself opened up to swallow his palace."

Ah. That means they are definitely no real, vivid and plotdevice'd Volcanion, but very real-life artificial replicas. She informs the others about that insight of hers, adding "That means they're not the smartest creatures, probably thinking like most Steel Types - mechanically like a machine. Does anyone have the means to give them a good bolt of electricity in order to mess with their circuits? (This includes the Scims) At best, do so as fast as possible, they don't seem willing to wait for us." She's got the Shield though to protect herself and Skarmory.

To Cosh, Shiva displays a perplexed expression. "Is that so...? Ah... I've been almost sure this stone guardians above at the base of the waterfall mark the border, haha." ^^; "Do tell me when we have enterd this King's domain then please."
