[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
That Noctowl's a fast one!  It zips overhead, and before Kee knows it, it's right in front of him and his pokemon!  Draven rubs his paws together in eager anticipation.  Oh, this is going to be fun.

Noctowl Round 1 Initiatives
Noctowl: (5) + 12 = 17
Draven: (4) + 7 = 11
Stella: (4) + 7 = 11
Reply
Kee's suprised and caught off-guard by that Noctowl's speed only for short, then a smirk developes on his face that nicely fits to his treasured catbat's antics. "Oh you too would like to get this done fast, don't you, Noctowl?~~ Well, then let's do just that! Draven, before you'll perform your favoured toxicshock-combo, use your foe's strength against them. Now to you, Stella - play it safe since you're not yet used to fighting and concentrate on overwhelming the foe with dread~."

Bloodlust on Minyan will restore 1HP for every 4 points of damage he deals out.

Accuracy Roll Draven's Foul Play 1: 3 Dext + 4 Fight + 0 Brawl + 1 Wide Lens - 2 Actions = 6d6
Damage Roll: Noctowl's Strength + 3 power of the move + STAB = minimum 4d6
Additional notes: Have your fun, poisonous catbat.

Accuracy Roll Draven's Toxic 2: 3 Dext + 4 Fight + 3 Channel + 1 Wide Lens - 1 Inaccuracy - 4 Actions = 6d6
Effect: Badly poisons the owl.
Secondary Effect: Will hit even if failing the Accu Roll due to Draven's Poison Type.

Accuracy Roll Draven's Venoshock 3: 3 Dext + 4 Fight + 3 Channel + 1 Wide Lens - 6 Actions = 5d6
Damage Roll: 4 Special + 2 power of the move + STAB + 2 Poisoned Status = 9d6
Additional notes: Totally not learnt this technique from Roxie.

Stella, being a young Vulpix with one red tail, looks a little scared but will still give her everything to follow orders well.

Accuracy Roll Stella's Spite Single Action: 3 Will + 2 Single Action Bonus = 5d6
Effect: Will reduce Noctowl's Will to 1.
Secondary Effect: Makes catchs easier, which is...

...exactly what Kee was going for! The very moment Noctowl's will is weakened like that, he'll start off with capture attempts. 3 Pokeballs with a Seal Strength of 2, the Roll to see if he hits at all is 3 Dext + 4 Fight + 0 Throw. A crit here will add +2 Seal Strength.

A Potion is ready to be used on both Draven and Stella, especially the latter as her action is important to succeed.

I should replace Stella's held Safety Googles since they're pointless on her due to Drought Ability. (-_-) Can I swap after this Encounter?

Ursaring Round 1

Nagi's flames grow bright as he looks that Ursaring right in the eyes...

Hypnosis 1
(2)(1)(4) +1 (spend that Will Point!)
...rest now, restless bear.  Ursaring falls asleep.

Shenzi isn't gonna let that bear rest peacefully, though.  She continues snarling even as the Ursaring naps.

Scary Face 1
(4)(1)(1)(3)(2)(2)(2)(2)(1) Oof.  Unfortunately, an angry bear isn't very scared of a wolf, even when it's taking a nap.

Speaking of naps, that Ursaring is snoozing away.  And it snores, too.

Snore 1
Wake Up Check: (5)(2)(2)(1) 1 Success accumulated.
7 Strength + 4 Fight + 2 Channel - 2 Act= 11 D6
(6)(6)(5)(4)(2)(6)(5)(5)(6)(3)(2) This bear snores loudly.  Critical hit!

(5)(4)(2)(6)(1)(5) Shenzi takes 4 damage 5/9 HP -1 Pain
(3)(6)(2) Shenzi Flinches!

Kogeki throws a Quick Ball to try and end this battle before it's even truly begun!  Ursaring has 10 Will, -1 for being Asleep.

Noctowl Round 1

Noctowl, speedy as it is, has the jump on Kee.  It doesn't like the look of that bat-like pokemon that's attempting to take up its airspace, so it proceeds to eliminate the immediate threat.

Hypnosis 1
5 Insight + 3 Fight + 3 Channel - 4 - 2 = 5 D6
(4)(2)(1)(1)(3)

Draven just laughs as the owl whiffs the Hypnosis completely.  He then proceeds to grab the big bird and attempt to force it to crash into a nearby tree.

Foul Play 1
(6)(4)(1)(1)(1)(1)

...and the owl laughs at him as it effortlessly breaks free of Draven's weak grip.  Hoot hoot hoot hoot!

...though Stella's shenanigans stop that laughing immediately.

Spite
(4)(5)(5)(2)(1)
Noctowl's Will is temporarily reduced to 1. (I think that's what the book means by 'temporal will', anyways...that really could be worded better)

The bird pokemon is sent reeling by all the negative energy that the tiny Vulpix is emitting.  It immediately tries to flee in terror.

...but not before Kee gets to throw a pokeball at it!

Pokeball 1
(6)(6)(2)(4)(1)

Gotcha!  Noctowl was caught!
Boosted Social Attribute:  Cool

Gender: Your pick
Happiness: 0 (Spiting a pokemon generally won't make it very Happy...)
Loyalty: 0 (...nor very Loyal.  Makes the capture really easy, though!)
Disobedience: 0
Current Ability: Insomnia
Other Abilities: Keen Eye
HP: 8/8 (after Kee's stats are applied)
Will: 1 (will be restored to 9 after the next encounter is finished)
Surprises: +1 Dex

Kee, Stella, and Draven all get 4 exp. In addition, now that she's properly participated in a battle, Stella's one tail splits and becomes two in a small burst of evolutionary light! She's growing very quickly, though the growth spurts will probably slow down after a certain point.

Note on Spite: It might not work on pokemon that are intended to be bosses of some variety.

Medicham Round 1

L: (4)(3)(1)
D: (2)(3)(5)(3)

Amethyst nods to Ran.  Sounds like a good plan to her!

Medicham keeps it simple: it punches things!

Amethyst conditionally jumps ahead in the initiative by using Detect to protect herself from the Fighting type move.

Detect 1
(6)(6)(1)(2)(3)(3)(1)(3)(3)
Amethyst protects herself!

Force Palm 1 (Well, it sort of punches)
(4)(2)(3)(3)(4)(5)(2)
4* Str + 2 Pow + STAB - 3 Def - 3 Detect + SE = 1 D6 (I want to try an interpretation of the wording of Protect and co. that nulliifes SE damage, since SE damage is technically fixed damage)
(2) No damage!
Since the move dealt no damage and was Shielded, I won't roll for the Paralysis chance this time.

Catherine does her best to make this more manageable...by making Medicham extreeeeeemely uncomfortable.  She saunters right up to Medicham, seemingly without a care in the world, and...

*SMOOCH*

Lovely Kiss 1
(6)(4)(1)(5) + 1 (Spend that Will Point!)
Medicham falls asleep out of sheer terror.

Randolph's pokemon begin to wale on the poor yoga fighter as it struggles to wake up from the nightmare filled sleep.

Wake Up Check 2
(2)(6)(1)(5) 2 successes accumulated

Bite 2
(6)(1)(1)(5)(6)
(2)(2) No damage
(6)(5)(2) Medicham Flinches 3

Sweet Kiss 2
(4)(3)(4)
Medicham became Confused!

L: (6)(2)(3)
D: (6)(4)(1)(3)

Amethyst changes plans mid battle since she wants to KO this Medicham before it wakes up.

Sucker Punch 3
(6)(2)(1)
(1)(5)(2) Medicham takes 1 damage 6/7 HP

Lick 3
(6)(3)
(3) Medicham takes 1 damage 5/7 HP -2 Pain

(1)(3)(1)

Draining Kiss 4
(4)(2)
(5)(4) Medicham takes 3 damage 2/7 HP -2 Pain

Bad rolls aside, this is probably going to be an easy win for Randolph.  There's still a chance that Medicham could wake up and do some damage at the start of the Round, though.

Ran let's out a small *sigh* of relief as things quickly turned sour for the martial telekinetic, looking mostly pleased with the outcome of this exchange. Seeing Amethyst listen to him right off the bat was both gratifying and rather nice, as he'd expected the snow white beat to follow her own whims or stratagems right off the bat before she'd start to pay his words any serious head, but them switching things up mid-round exactly played into his expectations and earned her a small frown and grumble from the wee man. He doesn't jump on her for it, though, as the Sucker Punch did work out alright in the end, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have something to say about it as he begins to rely his next commands.

"Catherine, great job giving that Medicham a thrill it won't soon forget! Keep up overstimulating them with Lick, Confusion, Powder Snow, and Draining Kiss, but be ready to put them back to sleep with another of your Lovely Kisses if they've haven gotten enough of you yet! Amethyst, that was a risky Sucker Punch you pulled, but since it worked out for ya I'm not going to breath down your neck for it. Just be careful when you use it the future, unless you want to get caught out and taken advantage of, ya hear? Now, finish them fast and hard with Quick Attack, Feint, and Bite, but if they get up and try to make a get away nail them with Pursuit! Let's finish the job the cold has started on this barmy Fighter girls!"

Orders: Catherine is going to Lick, amplfy its Confusion with Confusion, sprinkle it with Powder Snow, and finish things off with yet another Draining Kiss on the now poor Medicham, hopefully leaving it Paralyzed in the process and Frozen if Amethyst really ovaries up her Damage Rolls. Meanwhile, the aformentioned Dark prophet with try to finish them off quickly with Quick Attack then Feint and Bite (If the icey dancer can't finish the job somehow). If Medicham wakes up and isn't KOed, then they'll be put to Sleep again with another 'romantic' Lovely Kiss, and if they beat a hasty retreat at any point they'll be nailed with a Pursuit that will substitute whatever Action Amethyst will be one. Potions orders from last Round still stand. Time to the ladies to finish dishing out the cold shoulder to this hapless martial artist!

As for what happens after Medicham after they've bee roundly DOMINATED, he'll congratulate his ladies on a job well done before quickly returning them and releasing Zorn, before pointing at the fallen and saying if they want to eat them, they're free too do so. Remember, he did promise he'd go hunting and/or hunt for his brutish drake if they cooperated with him in their Gym Battle against Candice, so Ran's going to fulfill it, even if he doesn't necessarily like doing so. He's a man of his word. Oh, and he won't look away if Zorn does go to town on Medicham - he's not going to try and hide from the slaughter he'd enable.

If Zorn isn't feeling too hungry, though, he'll have Belladona Poison Medicham with Poison Gas (a task she should have zero complaints doing) and then attempt to catch with a couple of Pokeballs. If he fails, he'll leave it to wither away. Callous, but Ran ain't wasting his healing supplies on a Pokemon that is not his!

Moves:

Accuracy for all Amethyst attacks this Round should easily be inferred from last Round's Accuracy given for her moves, but I'll list out Catherine's since she has varying Accuracy depending on which Move she uses.

Lick
Accuracy: 8D6 Base - 2 Actions = 6D6 Base Dice
Damage: 1D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: Known

Confusion
Accuracy: 4D6 Base Dice
Damage: 3D6 Damage Dice (Based on the fact that Lovely Kiss did 2D6 Damage)
Effect: Irrelevant, since Medicham is already Confused (and horrified!)

Powder Snow

Accuracy: 2D6 Base Dice
Damage: 3D6 Damage Dice
Effect: Spread (If it matters - maybe she can direct some of to Galie, if she ends up using it), *Freeze 1*

Lovely Kiss
Everything is the same for it as last Round, so no elaboration needed!

Medicham Round 2

L: (5)(4)(3)
D: (5)(4)(3)(1)

Okey dokey!  One Quick Attack, coming right up!

Quick Attack 1
(4)(3)(1)(1)(2)(1)(5)
(1) No damage again.  Amethyst looks frustrated.

Wake Up 1
(5)(5)(5)(1) Medicham wakes up!

Catherine gives Medicham a good, loooooooooonnnnng tongue lashing.  Quite literally, in this case.

Lick 1
(6)(4)(1)(5)(1)(6)
(6) Medicham takes 2 damage and faints!
(6)(4)(3) Medicham was Paralyzed!

Randolph, Catherine, and Amethyst all get 3 exp. Catherine also looks very satisfied with the outcome of that fight, unlike Amethyst.

When Zorn's released, he stares at the unconscious, slightly twitching Medicham on the ground.

Then he shrugs and wanders off to mind his own business.  Medicham aren't his usual prey, so he's not particularly interested at all.

Belladonna definitely has no issues with Poisoning the now helpless Medicham, though.

With the biggest dangers of the stampede dealt with (Lucas dealt with Machoke since nobody needed his help), all the weaker pokemon scatter.  The start of the route is once again quiet.

"...well then, that was exciting.  Everyone okay?"

Presumably, everyone says they are, as miraculously, nobody got hurt at all during that set of encounters!  Well, except the wild pokemon, but those that were will have plenty of time to recover in the PC or in hiding.

Lucas notices that something's still bothering Karen, though.

"...is something the matter, Karen?"

"...well...I can't help but shake the feeling that the stampede was...running from something...I talked to that Glalie, and..."

"...wait, you talked to the Glalie?"

"Yeah, I did.  They were actually really nice!  And they seemed scared...they didn't feel safe, staying here, but they didn't want to be around humans for some reason, either...at least, that's the impression I got...I think they might have been running from whatever was causing that weird wind earlier..."

Lucas thinks about that carefully.  "...weird wind...I wonder if it would have become a snowstorm if it had stuck around Snowpoint longer...well, let's proceed with caution.  Keep a careful eye on the wind speed, everyone.  I doubt that little gale we saw earlier was natural if it's spooked the wild pokemon.  Let's look around a little instead of cutting straight through the Route.  Maybe whatever caused that wind is still nearby.  And I definitely don't fancy getting caught off guard by it, whatever it is."

Results of Karen's encounter: she successfully managed to convince Glalie that she didn't want to fight it, asked it some questions about what happened, and then it left since it didn't want to join a pokemon trainer for some reason. Karen gained 8 exp for her daring act.

Route 217 Part 2

(New experiment time!  How does a selection of notable encounter hotspots sound for a Route?)

Next up is the snowfield.  The big open space allows for a lot of freedom in the kinds of encounters that can be chosen. If you want to encounter a wild pokemon here, you almost have to be purposefully looking for them! You're almost guaranteed to run into a trainer who wants to battle at some point as well, and who knows what's hidden in the snow...

- The Tall Grass and Frozen Rock
Cap: None
[Image: 220px-Ice_Rock_anime.png]
A large, frozen over rock that some trainers make the goal of entire journeys with their Eevee partners.  It's surrounded by Tall Grass, and there are a few wild pokemon hanging around it.  Some particularly rare pokemon can also sometimes be found in this particular patch of Tall Grass.  Most of them are Ice types common to this Route.  With the recent happenings, though, most of them scatter when a human approaches the rock.  I'll roll two random Ice type wild pokemon, and you can pick one for your encounter.  Maybe some rare ones will show up!

- The Haunted(?) House
Cap: 1
The empty house that Lucas mentioned he got a Spell Tag from.  Looks abandoned, but Lucas is adamant he met an elderly lady there.  It's located near the Frozen Rock.  Get an item, maybe?  Find proof of paranormal activity?  There doesn't seem to be much here, but maybe there's more to it than meets the eye...there's definitely nothing there if more than one person enters it, though.

- The Isolated House
Cap: 2
The abode of the man who let Lucas keep the Hail TM the Champion found all those ears ago.  If there's definitely one benefit of going here, it's that it's probably warmer than it is outside!  This house is commonly referred to as the halfway point of Route 217.  Warm up and have a nice chat, and maybe find a rare item or two.

- Trainers galore!
Cap: None
[Image: Spr_DP_Skier_F.png][Image: Spr_DP_Skier_M.png][Image: Spr_DP_Ace_Trainer_M_2.png][Image: Spr_DP_Ace_Trainer_F_2.png]
Route 217 is popular with skiers and snowboarders due to the deep snow and large snow drifts.  Ace Trainers like to train on this Route due to the strength of the wild pokemon.  Finding a battle here is easy!  Just don't be surprised if you encounter someone who looks totally unprepared for the current weather but is training out here anyways, because there are definitely people crazy enough to do just that!  I'll roll three random trainers, and you get to battle one of them when they catch your eye!

Everyone will find a random item in their chosen encounter as well, as Route 217 is just packed with hidden items due to the ridiculous amount of snow covering the ground.  What kind of item you get will partially depend on what kind of encounter you take.

Other ideas for encounters and training sessions are welcome as well, as long as they fit within the context of a Route that's almost perpetually covered in snow and hail.

And since I dont want to go to another battle with a wounded Mightyena.

With the battle won, and they walking to their next path, Kogeki find a group of trainers. He would normally chanllenge one of them, But Kogeki was confident in his abilities and decided to challenge two of the three Trainers.

Oof. Eh, this didn't go that well in many ways, Kee can't help but to facepalm as that Noctowl owlishly laughs at his poisonous catbat, said creature responds to that laughter with a sharp hissing. 'Laugh as long as you can, big bird, laugh until I'll get to inject some potent venom into your bloodstream, hisssssss!!'

In the end though is was a smol fierly fox who saved this encounter, and Kee himself is vividly impressed by how effective her Spite Attack was and how susceptible Noctowl was to it. Once the latter is successfully caught, he picks Stella right up into his arms and gives her a rather fond and praising cuddle. Aww, Vulpix are just so soft, warm and cuddly! <3 "Now that was really cool of yours, you overwhelmed your foe completely with all that negative energy you've forced onto them! Intimidating such a big Pokemon enough to make it flee... Well done, truly well done!~~" *more cuddles and nuzzles* "Oh and look, the training's paying off already!~ Four tails missing and you're considered a fully grown and mature Vulpix, we'll get to that goal together!" <3

Kee picks up the occupied Pokeball from the snowy ground at last, glad that he didn't use a completely white Premier Ball. He looks somewhat unhappy though as Noctowl inside is giving him a glare and then turns away.  ( ̄~ ̄; ) "Maybe your Spite was a bit too effective though, the big owl's appearantly hating me now. Or is fearing me. Or both..." With a flick they are sent back to a PC Box of his. "Poor thing... Well, we'll find that Noctowl a proper owner and caretaker, a Birdkeeper maybe. Or will just set them free. That's a matter for another day though, come on all of you, we'll get going..." Kee waves towards Stell and Draven, who are quick to follw their Master.

Onwards it goes. Similar to what Lukas has been thinking about aloud, Kee too has developed an ominous feeling that SOMETHING is not quite right around here. It's been just too quiet at the start of the Route, strong icy wind that suddenly stopped, then a big batch of rampaging Pokemon. All of these events are connected in a way, that he's almost certain about. Juts HOW, that's the important question. A question there are no answers to at the moment.

Octavia comes out of her Ball again, and she immediately shivers once more. Though this time Kee's not quiet sure whether it's because the Frozen Rock is even closer, because this weird feeling about things being off or because of the cold. Eh, either way, she cuddles up closer to him. "We both could use a fireplace right now, wouldn't we? (-_- ) Ugh, comes from living in warmer areas all the time, a chilly sea breeze is comething completely different than an icy breeze...."

Luckily for him, there's a house nearby that's not surrounded by creepy tales of being haunted. Let's go for it!~

He starts off by listening at the door to try finding out whether it is occupied at the moment, then carefully knocks. "Is anyone there? I'm just a traveling Trainer and came here by chance..."
