Your first team in Uranium
#41
I just started playing Uranium a week ago. Currently, I have already beaten all 8 gym leaders and CURIE, so I'm training my pokemon for the championship. I'm trying to build a team that can hold its own in the competitive scene so I don't get completely annihilated, so as of now, I only have 4 strong pokemon. They are:

Blitzkrieg
Lv 79 Archilles (w/ Archillesite)
Lonely nature
This was my starter pokemon. I realized later on that I messed up with Blitzkrieg's nature, since I didn't take its Mega Form's Special Speedfreak battle style into account. Even though I invested in its Attack stat, my Archilles grew well enough for it to dominate most pokemon (even ones resistant to Fire) with a Drought-enhanced Flamethrower. It's ludicrous Speed is just insane, and I'm still able to OHKO with Earthquake even with the minimal boost to the Attack stat when it Mega Evolves (I know Mega Inflagetah but eh who cares). It's an indispensable part of my team as the High-Speed Sweeper, and I'm hoping to breed a Modest variant of it in the near future. Too bad it's Male.

Grenwog
Lv 70 Winotinger (w/ Amulet Coin)
Naive Nature
I kinda screwed up with this pokemon's nature as well, as it ended up with mediocre defenses, but Grenwog's main gist is a decent Special Attacker with good coverage. It has its two strongest natural moves, Moonblast and Aura Sphere, as well as Dark Pulse to take out Psychic-Types. Usually I'm able to OHKO a lot of strong pokemon with these, but I pack a Calm Mind in the event of an uncertain match-up. This is my counter to (Mega) Baariette and other Dark-Types and Fighting-Types.

Omega Beam
Lv 70 Nucleon (w/ Expert Belt)
Rash Nature
When I found out that Nuclear-type moves are Super Effective on most types, I sought out Nucleon almost immediately. Caught from the same route as my Winotinger (in their pre-evolved forms, of course), Omega Beam's basically a Multi-purpose Glass Cannon. Thanks to its (super broken) Atomizate ability, I have a 120 base power (with additional STAB) 100% accuracy spam move in Hyper Voice that hits two targets. Its defenses aren't as bad as Grenwog's, but it is slower. This means that anything that can out-speed it outmatches it (It does have a 4x weakness to almost everything after all), not to mention Steel-types being resistant to it. Nevertheless, its still a really great pokemon that deserves a to be a permanent mainstay.

Raikiri
Lv 72 Yatagaryu (w/ Choice Specs)
Timid Nature
I bred this from the egg that I obtained from the Tsukinami Village and gave it a Timid Nature so that it can overwhelm most pokemon with its great Speed in addition to monstrous Special Attack. Yatagaryu is a fine addition to any team, it being a Pseudo after all, so this already speaks for itself. Not to mention it has an ability that makes Thunder 100% accurate as well as do some damage to opposing pokemon that aren't immune to it (I can switch to Yatagaryu every other turn to keep my own safe from the Lightning Strikes). I chose the name Raikiri because of the investment in Speed, for I'm basing it on the legend of the Raikiri blade, which was swift enough to cut lightning in half. In the future, I hope to breed a Modest version of this as well, and name it Raigeki.

So those are my pokemon as of now, tell me what you think. I'm currently breeding an Adamant Sheebit, and I'm trying to find a Fafurr with a Jolly Nature to beat down those pesky Ground-Types. If you have any alternatives to these two, I'd be thrilled to know them.

P. S. I also had a Shiny Empirilla (the second member of my party in my early days) but I chose Winotinger over it.

Glad you enjoy the game mate! Why don't you make a new thread in Competitive Discussion where you'd post your RMT? I'd be glad to help. Smile Also, since you seem to be into competitive stuff, make sure to join the Breeders' Discord , it's likely people will be willing to trade you comp mons there. You can also check Aiden's Breeding Guide if you want to get started on your own.

Oh really? Let me introduce you to Mega Inflagetah with Swords Dance, Flame Impact, Rock Slide and Earthquake...

My first team was electruxo + gyarados + hm slaves/eggs, until pokemon liga, and I kinda regret it. They did a great job, but it wasnt too much fun tho because gyarados lacked important moves until the end of the game, so he was basically stuck with bite, dragon rage, aqua tail and dragon dance for most of the time. If I played uranium a second time, Id certainly catch a gyarados before going to pokemon liga and catch unymph, glaslug, swabone and devimp as early as possible. Electruxo has awesome offensive typing and solid stats, there wasnt much that could resist against his moves surf/scald/ice beam/thunderbolt, but he ended up not being in my final team because I didnt like his sprite too much (especially the yellow thing on his head). I liked the sprite of his mega evolution much better, but decided not to play with mega evolutions, nuclear types and legendaries, so...

It is my first playthrough and I enabled challenge mode in options when starting the adventure. I have obtained almost 190 different pokemon and for my final team I went with the 6 Pokemon sprites I like the most, which are:

Ability: gale wings
Moveset: roost, x-scissor, acrobatics, swords dance

This mon is a beast. It can wipe out whole teams on its own, with the idea to swords dance first move and spam acrobatics against everything that doesnt resist flying type. Thanks to gale wings, acrobatics will always be a priority move of 110 base power (without holding an item) + stab bonus, which can also trash nuclear types such as theos nucleon. So the ev could even be invested into atk and hp, trying to make it a bit more bulky. But if x-scissor should be a fast move, it would make more sense to put them into atk and spe.

Ability: intimidate
Moveset: outrage, waterfall, earthquake, dragon dance

Another beast that can wipe out whole teams alone, once it has setup 1-2 dragon dances, which should be easy to do as long as the enemies type is not rock or electric (even tho rock attacks are very uncommon). Outrage has to be used wisely, as being confused afterwards can be a huge downside. Its ability is also great for debuffing your enemies physical attacking power, which could even be stacked by switching out to beliaddon and back in to gyarados, rendering their physical attackers useless and laughing at them (I actually did that to urayne gamma, sacrificing most of my team members just to get that sweet -6 attack on it, so it became extremely weak).

Ability: intimidate
Moveset: crunch, flare blitz, earthquake, infernal blade

Powerful and bulky. It usually destroys half of the enemies team until it gets taken down. Flare blitz should be used carefully, as it will cost many hp most of the time. Thus, infernal blade is the preferred fire move for most cases, which also trashes fairy types. I just wish its accuracy was 100, since even 95 accuracy moves can fail twice or more in a row, which annoys me as hell.

Ability: nature cure
Moveset: surf, recover, ice beam, sludge bomb

Powerful and bulky. Similar like beliaddon and has, thanks to recover, more staying power, but with the key difference that glavinug usually takes longer to take them down, when dealing neutral damage. Surf and ice beam are amazing stab moves and compared to electruxo, it doesnt have that annoying earthquake weakness. Dragon types should fear that ice beam. I prefer sludge bomb over dazzling gleam because it trashes those somewhat annoying fairy types and I dont need another move for dragon, dark or fighting types. Should it ever suffer a status problem, all it has to do is switching out, thanks to nature cure.

Ability: levitate
Moveset: leaf blade, superpower, shadow claw, swords dance

Maybe my weakest team member. Unfortunately it doesnt have enough speed to be a sweeper and its defensive stats are a bit more fragile. But it does great when it can make use of its 3 type immunities or 3 resistances, setting up a swords dance or even 2 and trash. I am not sure about leaf blade and super power, I will probably replace them with low kick and mach punch/shadow sneak because the debuff of super power sucks and those priority moves should work well with swords dance. So I might even replace super power and leaf blade with mach punch and shadow sneak, making it a revenge killer, but after setting up swords dances, it could also work as a sweeper then.

Ability: stormbringer
Moveset: roost, nasty plot, thunderbolt, dragon pulse

Should be used carefully as the lightning attacks can do massive damage to gyarados, glavinug and harptera when switching out. The idea here is simple: setup a nasty plot and trash them, and thanks to roost, it should not be easy to take it down. This one is probably my weakest of my 3 sweepers.

It turned out that this team is actually super strong, but the most important thing is to know when you have to switch out for type advantage/nullifying type disadvantage. One of the team members should always be able to switch in the type the enemy is using, if needed.

It has been some time since i first played Uranium. I just recently returned to experience this game again and gained a greater appreciation for it. Particularly it's Pokemon as I feel this game has one of the best Fakemon lineups I've ever seen, but enough of my rambling. I don't remember as many specifics as I'd like about my first team but I do remember what Pokemon I used:

So I have a thing for always choosing up with the grass starter and when I saw the test answers were color coded I stayed fairly true to how I would actually answer but also made sure I ended up with Orchynx. I really liked using Orchynx and Metalynx a lot and I love the grass/steel typing and as long as i didn't throw this Pokemon at a fire type it could get a lot of work done.

So when I saw Cubbug I nearly died from Cuteness overload and I know i had to have it. For someone who doesn't like bugs at all IRL I love the Bug type and this Pokemon definitely was an asset to my team. Admittedly it wasn't my best member but I found many uses for the fairy type in my first run. Also this is the only Pokemon whose nickname I remember, I named them Bugbear.

Now I definitely remember catching Grozard and using Terlard for most of the game but i don't remember my reasoning for catching it when I did. Terlard was a fine member of my team until near the end of the game when it just wasn't doing much for me so I would go on to replace it later on with my final team member, however since i did use Terlard for like 90% of the game I feel I need to include them.

Canine like Pokemon are another weakness of my mine and i saw Tancoon and had to have it. While Tanscure isn't the most statistically impressive Pokemon, I caught one with it's Moxie ability and I was able to use that to save me in quite a few bad situations during my first run.

I actually intended to use Flager when I caught it but then as I was leaving ran into Chimical it's beautiful pun name and Chimera inspiration made me use it instead . Chimiconda was a beast on my team and later on when I saw Inflagetah nearly wreck my team in the 5th gym I still stuck by my choice to keep using Chimiconda and they became a very reliable member of my team.

Wait what you had two starter mons on your team, Yes I did. Theo had an Electruxo and after seeing it I wanted one so I did as much trading and waiting I needed to to get one. I enjoyed having two starters on my team and definitely beat Theo in a mirror match more than once when i had it.

And so finally the Pokemon that would Replace Terlard. Now I choose to use Volchik and replace Terlard because I need something to dea with ground types. Then got a Dragon/Electric type and was like "Welp I made it worse." but Yatagaryu was amazing and in the end it definitely was more of an asset than Terlard.

This has been a great journey down memory lane to remember the first Pokemon I shared my first Uranium experience with and I hope I can continue to have good experiences with the game.

Uh... That's... actually a good question... (Looks up the Hall of Fame in my first file)
Well apparently, my final team was:
Frikitiki, Seikamater, Alpico, Dunseraph, and Nucleon. Though from those, I can tell that I was breeding for the best stats WAY before entering the Hall of Fame. The only ones I remember with certainty were with me for a majority of the time were my Eletruxo and Dunseraph.
Hell, not even my other save files are 100% "organic" as one might call them, because after a certain point I start sending over perfect stat pokemon that I'm looking to get to level 100 to create other Virtual Trainers.

I can related with that. Sometimes, when I want a certain Pokemon, but he doesnt appear in certain point of story, I simple breed one and then send to my save. Pretty dang awesome.

Huh, its a shame Nintendo never though in make their Pokemon games with more than one save. You have only one save and thats it. You have to deal with it or buy the other version.

Thats why I prefer stick with the fangames. The community have amazing concepts of ideas to this franchise. Like Pokemon Insurgence or Pokemon Uranium.

The worst part was when Genius Sonority made the Colosseum and Gale of Darkness games, but didn't let you have more than one save file unless you bought another Memory Card. Utterly infuriating! I can understand hardware limitations when it came to the portable games, but when it comes to consoles with *much* larger memory capacity, there's no excuse.

Tell me about it. Or even recently when game company cut content and other features in SnS to "Focus in making new animations and graphics". However, it was discovered it's the same same animations of other games, and worse of all, the graphics it's not that impressive.

And when they cut the national Dex, it was expected they could make a bigger bunch of Pokemon, who did not happen. And don't make me want to talk about the saturated Gen 1 use. It was cool in XY, but now it is enough.

Thats why created a certain hate and feeling of disgusting around these new games.

I mean, this is kinda getting off-topic and is dangerously close to becoming another Anti-Game freak thread, which strays away from both positive vibes and the thread's purpose.

Anyway, to get back on-topic, my first team consisted of Metalynx, Pajay, Terlard, Blubelrog, Ampharos, and Baariette. I don't remember much of the specifics since it was a long time ago, but heyho, what's one gonna do? It performed well enough that I could get through the game.

I was ever-so-briefly considering, some time ago, breeding a Flager with Swords Dance, Flame Impact, Rock Slide and Earthquake, and importing that (as an Inflagetah) into a fresh save to see if I could steamroll the entire game with just that mon since it's so dang busted, but I decided against it on the grounds that Uranium was alright for a first run, but I wouldn't know if I'd want to experience it a second time. Plus, it'd be tricky to import it considering I'd need a middleman of some sort, but I'm okay with having the game beaten once. (counting both the Theo champion match and initial CURIE scuffle as one completion)
