[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
It occurs to Kogeki that Nurse Joy would be far more likely to check a pokeball if the pokemon it contains is damaged or hurt in some way.  She may still make a routine check regardless, but it's something to keep in mind.

Either way, Hime is likely going to be gone all day once she's sent off.

-------------------------------------------------

Snopach is stumbling around, very obviously confused by the sudden change in weather.  It doesn't appear to have any idea what's going on, and is actually somewhat startled when Kogeki approaches it.  It tries to hide behind a small snowdrift, but its very obviously tail sticks out from behind its hiding place.

In that case I keep Hime for now. Next time I battle with her, I give her the message.

When Snopach get startled, Kogeki stay on a safe distance. No need to scare the Elephant Pokemon more than he is. Kogeki search his bag, until he finds some fruits like banana and apples.

"Sorry in scare you little one. It was not my intention in scare you. Please, accept those fruits as a token of friendship." To show the fossil Pokemon the food is not poison, Kogeki eat a apple and show it is okay to eat.

Excadrill Round 1

Going all out against a bitter rival is something Zorn has no issues with at all!  RAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWRRRRRR!!!

GLARE 1
(3)(5)(3)(2)
Excadrill, for the first time in its life, is Paralyzed.  -2 Dex

Excadrill continues sharpening its claws as it glares back at Zorn.  Those pointy fingers look like they could pierce even steel now.

Hone Claws 1
2 Special + 5 Fight + 3 Brawl - 2 = 8
(1)(5)(1)(6)(2)(4)(5)(1)
+1 Str and Acc for the mole!

Bulldoze 2
11 - 4 = 7
(3)(5)(5)(4)(2)(4)(4) The surrounding earth and snow is promptly flattened, and so is Excadrill!  Crit!
2 + 5 - 5* + 2 Crit + SE = 4 D6 + 1
(6)(1)(6)(3) Excadrill takes 3 damage! 7/10 HP -1 Pain
Its Dex would normally decrease by 1, but Excadrill is Paralyzed, so we'll ignore this for now.

Drill Run 2
2* Dex + 5 + 3 - 1 - 1 + 1 - 4 = 5 D6
(2)(1)(1)(6)(3) Excadrill was fully Paralyzed!

Is this Crunch Lethal?
L: (3)(5)(2)
D: (1)(2)(5)(1)

No!  Zorn actually restrains himself this time!  The bite is still incredibly vicious looking, however.

Crunch 3 (Non Lethal)
11 - 6 = 5
(2)(5)(6)(2)(4)
3 + 5 - 5* = 3
(3)(2)(1)
(4)

However, Excadrill's thick, steely hide is difficult to pierce through, even with Zorn's incredible Strength and large jaw.  The mole, confident in its strength, picks up some snow covered rocks and hurls them at the dragon at full force!

Rock Slide 3
2* + 5 + 3 - 1 - 1 + 1 - 6 = 3
(6)(1)(1) Excadrill was fully paralyzed again!

Zorn laughs at the unfortunate turn of events for the mole, and continues his offensive!  One steely head meets as another as the two pokemon headbutt each other simultaneously in an intense rivalry!

Iron Head 4 (Zorn)
11 - 8 = 3
(5)(5)(1)
(4)(5)(1) Excadrill takes 1 damage!  6/10 HP -1 Pain
(6)(3)(5) Excadrill also Flinches 4!  The shame!  The humiliation!  A Dragon is showing up this Excadrill with Steel moves of all things!!!

Despite recoiling from the masterful assault Zorn just launched, this mole doesn't look like it's about to give up any time soon.  However, it DOES appear to be having second thoughts as its muscles seize up again from the paralysis.

Oddly, Zorn also seems to have calmed down a little, actually.  He's...looking at the oversized mole with more respect now?  Huh.  Definitely weird.  The feeling doesn't appear to be mutual right now, though, and Excadrill currently looks like it's going to continue attacking the rival tunnel Dragon.

Excadrill Round 2?

Snopach stares at the fruit with a hungry look in its eyes, apparently quite hungry.  It also still looks confused?  It's clearly looking at the fruit curiously as well as hungrily.

However, it doesn't come out from its hiding place yet.

Ran's scowling visage morphs into a savage grin as his brutish drake's own menacing looks hobbles their rival dirt dweller, and let's out a bark of laughter as it's pounded into the snow covered earth and utterly flounders it's attack!

"Ha! That'll show them underestimating ya draconic might !"

That satisfaction with Dragon's performance is swiftly changed into moderate surprise when they elect not to brutally maim the Excadrill with Crunch, briefly blinking wildly at the sight! Wow, that's not what he expected! It's when they express what appears to be respect that truly floors the midget man ontop his trusty turtle stead (who's equally surprised at this turn of events). Zorn, being cordial to an opponent, and to an Excadrill at that? Is this actually happening, or did Kee spike his morning cocoa with some whisky, and is now seeing things (The sly little punk!) ?

He snaps out of his shock soon enough to quickly double check the situation, and after confirmed it all to be true he could only blankly stare at his scaled subterror for a second.

'Huh. Well how about that. Zorn's being civil and restraining himself voluntarily in front of the mole. Didn't think he had it in him yet, but here he goes, proving me wrong...'

Once that thought passes, Ran shakes his head to clear it, looks to his mighty drake and then to ironclad mole, before looking back to the former and speaks to them, asking them first a simple question.

"Zorn, ya want to continue scrapping with that mole and put them deeper into the ground, or do ya want to let'm go or catch them? If you still want to Fight, sharpen your own claws and get back to tenderizing them with Bulldoze, Crunch, and Iron Head. If not, give me a signal otherwise. Whatever your choice is, I'll be fine with it, so...go with ya gut on this."

Since Zorn surprised him with his behavior towards a normally much despised opponent, the dwarven blacksmith is now curious enough to see what they'll do now they've been let of the leash, so to speak. How will they choose to act, he wonders....

Orders: Well well well, this Round has be an unexpected treat in many ways! Because Zorn's actually unusually polite and composed, Ran's going to let him dictate how the rest of the Encounter goes. If they still want to fight, they have their Actions already qued up (Hone Claws -> Bulldoze -> Crunch -> Iron Head), but otherwise what they want to do is up to them. If they want to let Excadrill go, then they are allow the opportunity to leave. If they want him to catch it, then a Dusk Ball will be used for the attempt (Since it's technically still dark outside, it should be at full power, right?) , while Zorn can do whatever if the Capture Attempt fails. Otherwise, Potion orders still stand from the last Round. Alright, let's see how this turns out!

Moves:

Hone Claws
SPE (2) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - 2 Actions = 6D6 Dice
Effect: Known

Bulldoze
Accuracy: Base *8D6 Dice
Damage: 3D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: N/A

Crunch/Iron Head
Accuracy: Base *6/*4D6 Dice
Damage: 4D6 Damage (-1 for IH)
Effect: *- 1 Defense (1) [Crunch]* , *Flinch 3 [Iron Head]

However, it doesn't come out from its hiding place yet.

Kogeki put the fruits close (but not to much to not scare him) and then return to his sit place. "You know. This is a strange land indeed. My home region has a more tropical weather. And vast seas to go whatever you want. I felt lost when I first came here, mostly like you are Snopach."

"But...even this strange land have lots of beautiful things." Kogeki then look to Snopach. "You are quite a strange Pokemon. Your species is pretty rare. Lost even." Kogeki lift his mechanical arm. "Huh, you could say I lost too. Lost so many things in the past." He touch his white scarf. "Most of them I probably never going to recover."

"...My son is everything I have left. Renji is quite a great boy. Destemid, brave, a bit serious, but also kind and wise. I get time recently to take a time with him. He probably taking the exam of become a ninja...and also have the chance of getting a Volchik. The boy has always been fondly to ride a Yatagaryu. Sometimes, I wonder if her mother could see the future: Renji = Storm. It was almost she knew he would get a Lighting Pokemon."

"...I been a failed father figure for quite a long time...but I gladly my relationship with him it's not impossible to rebuild. Family is a strong thing..."

"Do you...do you have a family too Snopach? That's why you feel lost and scared in this strange place? As a father, I can help find them, if is your desire. I was thinking in capture you before...but it's not right capture a Pokemon lost and confused who is just searching for his family. Lost something important..." Kogeki put a hand to his mask. "...I know very well the feeling."

"If you don't have a place to go Snopach...well, I can adopt you. Help unlock your potential. Maybe who knows help you find other Fossil Pokemon like you (this could be a interesting side mission for Kogeki, thoughts in that Dragonstrike?). What you say mate?"

Quote:Drampa looks up at the sky, then back at Stella.  It tilts is head curiously, as if trying to ask a question.

When asked if it's here to cause trouble, it shakes its head.

Stella continues being shy, trying to hide in the blanket from the big, scary looking dragon.

Ohhhh fuuuuu, Stella continuing to be so shy doesn't delight Kee. Well then, that calls for moar persuading and sweet-talk from him, challenge accepted!~ He cuddles ang hugs his smol firefox closer and more gentle as well as pets her through her beloved blanket all to convey safety, security and closure. "Oh c'mon my dear one, you'd call this dragon there 'scary-looking'?~ Dontcha do that, c'mon, just take 'nother look at them. Just one, just for short! There ARE Pokemon as well as dragonlike Pokemon that are all scary in apperance, but THIS one here certainly ISN'T. They rather look like your favorite granddad that'll tuck ya in at night 'n tell ya a bedtime-story 'bout the good old days."

Kee is halted in his words as he suddenly(?) holds his smol Vulpix even closer to himself, mutters some more words rather than speaking them out aloud - thought loud and clear enough for Drampa to pick them up. "Or about the heroic missions their son and your father completed successfully, before that happened." He smiles faintly, but at the same time has to rub his eyes. "Guess we both silently coped with that by becoming like father 'n son - A happeh time."

"....Too bad those days were finite." He glances up to face that Drampa, his expression rather hopeful and nostalgic. "Or so I thought, but then I run into that gentle dragon YOU are."

He rub his eyes again, this time with more effort. "Eh... Sorreh, noble Drampa, emotions caught up on me. Uh, ya're... Ya're wondering what happened to the blizzard, are ya? Partly me and my firely cub's effort... Or wondering why it's so dark? I am too, up to investigate and find out."

Zorn gives Randolph a really toothy, almost smug looking, 100% confident grin.  He knows he can beat this chump.  He's proven what he wanted to.  It doesn't look like he's gonna let that mole simply leave, though!  (Or that the mole wants to leave right now, for that matter.)

Excadrill Round 2

Zorn sharpens his claws, gearing up to continue the fight, just in case.

Hone Claws 1
(6)(1)(6)(4)(1)(1)
+1 Str and Acc for Zorn!

Excadrill, starting to get a little desperate, lunges for Zorn, aiming to deal a critical blow!  A single hit from this mole could blast through most typical pokemon with how sharp those claws are!

Drill Run 1
2* + 5 + 3 - 1 - 1 + 1 - 2 = 7
(5)(1)(2)(4)(5)(4)(2) And a critical blow it is as Excadrill's entire body becomes an almost lethal whirlwind!  Crit!
6* Str + 3 + STAB - 3 + 2 Crit = 9 D6
(5)(5)(4)(2)(5)(5)(2)(1)(2) Zorn takes 5 damage! 3/8 HP -2 Pain
(4)(2) Excadrill takes 1 damage from Zorn's Rough Skin 5/10 HP -2 Pain

Zorn grits his teeth as the Excadrill barrels into him at high speed, but he stands his ground and grips the mole with both claws, holding it in place so Randolph can get a clear shot!

Dusk Ball 1
(5)(5)(2)(1)
(5)(5)(1)(1)(3)(6)(1)(5) 3 successes
9 - 2 Pain - 1 Para = 6
(1)(3)(3)(5)(3)(1) 0 successes.  This is one unlucky mole, isn't it?

Gotcha!  Excadrill was caught!

Zorn lets out a breath in relief as soon as Excadrill is sucked into the Dusk Ball and STAYS there.  He finds a nearby rock and sits down next to it, seemingly not caring about the cold and snow very much right now.

Zorn gets 8 exp, and Randolph gets 4.

Sounds like an empathy check from Kee to me!  I'll give ya a +1 bonus, too!

Kee's Empathy: (6)(5)(3)(6)(6)(2)(2)(1)(1)(5) +1 = 5 successes.  I'd say that's definitely enough to convince Stella that there isn't any immediate reason to be scared of Drampa, given that the value completely eclipses her current Will Score.  She's still a little shy, but she isn't purposely trying to bury herself deeper in the blanket to hide from Drampa now.

Drampa listens to Kee's words carefully, though it doesn't seem to react much to them at first.  When asked about the blizzard and the sky, it nods in response to both questions.  It gives Stella a kind look, but it can't help but glance in the direction of the mountain's peak as well.  It's hard to see it through the blizzard, but the outline of the mountain is most certainly still at least somewhat visible.

Empathy Check for Kogeki, also with a +1 bonus because that story definitely caught Snopach's attention (even though it might not fully understand the whole thing)

Kogeki's Empathy: (6)(4)(3)(1)(1)(4)(5) +1 = 4 successes
Snopach's Will: (6)(6)(3)(2)(2)(6)

Kogeki's story about his family really caught Snopach's attention, in fact.  The small elephant pokemon slowly comes out of hiding.  Even though it doesn't understand everything Kogeki is talking about, it knows one thing:

This strange man clad in black has lost a lot, and is very sad.

So it does the one thing it can think to do in this situation: it slowly approaches Kogeki and nuzzles his arm, hoping to comfort the man a little.  He doesn't have to be alone.  They can be lost together.

The world is a cruel place sometimes, but even the coldest, roughest ice type can be kind, warm, and cuddly.

...though directly touching this Snopach is almost like touching an extremely rough block of ice, so maybe don't get too cuddly.  Yeowch! That's not comfortable at all!

Gotcha!  Snopach was caught!
