This sparks another wave of 'WHY SO SERIOUS?'-thoughts and -feelings within Kee, but he restrains himself and opts to follow the path instead, Octavia loyally by his side and throwing confused-curious glances at the semi-cyborg ninja every now and then. SOMETHING must have happened that increased their seriousness by 200%, but what??

If he's going to try his hands on that SHADOWMON Sally identified, Kee's ending up meeting a.....

As long as Lapras isn't attacking, Kee will neither, he seems well aware that those Pokemon are usually friendly. But he has Octavia out shall it become necessary to defend himself.

Yeah, there isn't much of a trail to follow when it comes to the diamond dust.  The majority of it that Randolph can find is scattered around the hole that was dug.

Karen definitely looks ready to help with that Shadow Rhyperior.  "I've been meaning to get into a battle since we reached this floor, and this is as good a chance as any!  I know exactly who I want to use!"

Randolph's description of doom and gloom seems to scare Rui off of participating in the encounter, though.  "...I-I'll just be over there, waiting for you guys to finish up."

----------------------------------

As soon as Rhyperior sees Randolph and Karen coming, it crouches down and aims its arms with open palms at them like cannons.  It's definitely guarding the northern path.

Karen sends out her Roserade and...Magneton?  "I don't care how bulky this rhino thinks it is!  It's going down!"

Rhyperior Round 1 Initiatives
Rhyperior: (4) + 9 = 13
Paula: (1) + 9 = 10
Magneton: (5) + 5 = 10
Lotus: (1) + 7 = 8

Blubelrog sloooowwwwwly stands up in its little body of water when Kogeki approaches.  It motions for Kogeki to shoo, but when the ninja doesn't and summons pokemon instead, the frog starts croaking aggressively.

Blubelrog Round 1 Initiatives
Nami: (6) + 11 = 17
Blubelrog: (6) + 11 = 17
Gama: (2) + 10 = 12

Lapras isn't attacking, thankfully.  It merely floats in the middle of the tarn, minding its own business until Kee addresses it.  When asked why it's here, Lapras gives Kee a partially confused, partially sad look in return.

(Welp, the Initiative seems to hate both Ran's and Karen's Statusers , so let's hope S.Rhyperior doesn't end up murdering one of the party before they get a chance to act)

Ran's partially relieved that Rui elected to stay well away from the rocky kaiju, but that feeling is countered when Karen steps up to the plate to help him out.

" *Frowns, but Nods* ...Very well. If you're spoiling for a Fight, then that beast over there is going to give ya your fill and then some. Let's go."

Upon engaging the enemy and finding it to be much faster that their partners, the bristly blacksmith is alarmed, exasperated, and gravely annoyed ('How in the fucking hell is a RHYPERIOR faster than them?!'), but the wee lass' battle cry cuts off any vocal objection to these events. Instead, he swallows his anger (for now) and roars out his own defiance towards the stony guardian, both hands clenched tightly!

"That's the spirit, lass! Paula, do what you do best and Sing that titan to Sleep, then give us a Lucky Chant, daze it with your Water Pulse, and then Charm'em! Karen, if your Roserade can Paralyze that sucker or put it to Sleep, then I can focus on Paula acting as support for all of us, but whatever you do make sure it ends up brutalizing that Rhyperior before it gets the chance to do the same to us! Everyone, prepare yourselves for the worst!

Orders: I really don't want that S.Rhyperior using the myraid of deadly Moves tha)t can murderlize anyone of the group's Pokemon (or all of them at once[/i], so let Paula put it to Sleep (Conditional Willpoint it, damn it!), then Lucky Chant because I'm not going without it in ANY battle Paula's in, then Water Pulse for a Confuse Proc and some chip Damage (hopefully), then Charm to weaken it some. If Karen's Roserade knows Sleep Powder (And Karen tells him/everyone) and says she'll try to get them to use it, Paula will use Charm instead of Sing first and Draining Kiss last, and if they would use Stun Spore as their first Move (and Karen would announce it to Ran) Paula will use Water Pulse first to hopefully get a Parafusion combo going early on, then go with Lucky Chant, Charm, and Draining Kiss. If Paula get's slammed for 3 HP or more, immediately Potion her. Bit of a complicated chain of commands, but I want to be prepared and ready to exploit my partner's actions, and vice versa!

Moves:

Sing
Accuracy: 2D6 Base Dice
Effect: Zzz...
Note: Conditional Willpoint to either add + 1 Success to the Roll, or to ignore Pain if S.Rhyperior brings that - 2/-3 Pain gain onto Paula.

Lucky Chant
Accuracy: 5D6 Base Dice
Effect: Begone, bad luck!

Water Pulse
Accuracy: 3D6 Base Dice
Damage: SPE (3) + 2 + STAB + QE (2 or *1 [If it has Rock Armor]) = 6D6 + 2/1 Damage
Effect: *Confuse 3*

Charm
Accuracy: 2D6 Base Dice
Effect: - 2 STR on Target

Kee ends up mirroring that partly confused and partly sad look from Lapras as now he feels somewhat bad for them... And then he indicated Lapras to hold on for a moment, rummages a bit in his stuff and pulls out some blackish-green sheets that give of an almost pungent smell like the sea. He waves them a little at Lapras in attempt to attract them.
[Image: closeup-roasted-seaweed-snack-kim-nori-s...566908.jpg]

"How 'bout a small snack, huh? That's dried nori, I keep that 'round as a snack for my diva-like siren... Actual fish for ya I unfortunately don't have."

Regardless whether Lapras comes closer and accept the snack or not, Kee speaks with them more in a calm voice. "....Betcha must feel.... 'tad bit lonely up here, dontcha? Food must be somewhat scare too, those bodies of water here feel too small to host 'nough fresh food for a big 'Mon like ya. Makes me wonder why ya're....actually here....." And the carefully speaks out what he was speculating from the moment they gave him and Octavia that look: "Ya....haven't always been livin' here, have ya? Did somethin' happen ya can't understand 'nd then ya suddenly found yarself up HERE?"

Rhyperior Round 1

Rhyperior hunkers down and fires several shadow covered rocks from its palms at every enemy pokemon attempting to approach it, very comparable to a living turret.  It fires 2 at Paula, 2 at Lotus, and 1 at Magneton, in that order.

Shadow Barrage 1-5
3 Dex + 5 Fight + 5 Channel - 1 Acc - 2/4/6/8/10 = 10/8/6/4/2
(2)(4)(2)(1)(5)(1)(1)(3)(3)(2)
(3)(5)(1)(1)(5)(5)(4)(4)
(4)(4)(3)(6)(3)(3)
(6)(2)(1)(2)
(4)(3) 5 Hits!

6 Str + 1 Pow + 1 SS - 2/3/5 = 6/5/3 D6 + 1 damage per hit
(6)(5)(3)(1)(2)
(6)(3)(4)(1)(1) Paula takes a total of 5 damage! 1/6 HP -3 Pain
(5)(1)(4)(5)(1)(2)
(6)(4)(3)(2)(2)(3) Lotus takes a total of 6 damage! 2/8 HP -2 Pain
(4)(5)(1) Magneton takes 3 damage! 4/7 HP -1 Pain (they'd sustained a little damage on the prior floor and hadn't been healed yet)

Rhyperior's palms almost seem to steam a little after it finishes with its rapidfire attacks.  Once the steam clears, everyone can see it looks...confused.  Huh?  They're still standing?

Paula's battered and beaten, but she's not going to let that stop her from singing!  She's going to power through that pain for the rest of the Round!

Sing 1 (Spend that Will Point!)
(3)(1) Unfortunately, she's been pushed very hard recently, and she coughs, unable to sing her song this time.  She's also been spending a lot of Will Points lately, and it looks like the exhaustion might get to her soon.

Magneton looks to pick up that slack, though!  No way is it going to let that Rhyperior cause that much damage that easily!  Light begins reflecting off of them, obscuring their form as they blast Rhyperior with beams of energy!

Mirror Shot 1
8 - 1 Pain - 2 Acc - 2 Act = 2
(6)(6)(3)
3 Special + 2 Pow + STAB + 1 Metal Coat - 4 Sp Def + SE =3 D6 + 1
(4)(1)(2) Rhyperior takes 1 damage! 13/14 HP Pain
(6)(3)(5) Rhyperior is Confused! -2 Accuracy

And rightly so, as it's no longer a Magneton that is floating before it once the light dims either, but a Magnezone!  Congratulations to Karen!

Karen looks super pumped about that evolution, too!  She does look apologetically at Randolph when he asks her to use some status moves, however.  "Alright!  Finally!  Oh, uh...sorry, Randolph, but Lotus isn't much of a status inflicter.  She's a nuisance in another fashion!  Let's show 'em why, Lotus!"

Giga Drain 1
6 - 2 Pain - 2 Act = 2
(5)(4)
4 Spe + 3 Pow + STAB - 4 + QE = 4 D6 + 2
(5)(6)(1)(2) Rhyperior takes 3 damage! 10/14 HP -1 Pain
Lotus recovers 2 HP using her Big Root! 4/8 -2 Pain

Randolph uses a Potion on Paula! 5/6 HP
Karen uses a Potion on Magnezone! 9/10 HP

Lucky Chant 2
(2)(4)(6)(6)(2)
The Lucky Chant echoes throughout the mountainside cliffs.  Paula coughs again at the very end of the chant, though.

Magnezone attempts to inflict some statuses with a rather...unconventional method, given the situation.

Tri Attack 2
8 - 4 = 4
(6)(4)(3)(3)
3 + 3 - 4 = 2
(4)(1) No damage
B: (2)(1)
P: (3)(2)
F: (5)(3) No statuses.  Rhyperior simply shrugs off the normal type move.

Lotus is in a lot of pain, but there's a lot at stake here, so she's going to try and keep attacking regardless!

Mega Drain 2
6 - 4 - 1 = 1
(6) It hits!
4 + 2 + STAB - 4 = 3 + 1
(5)(2)(2) Rhyperior takes 2 damage! 8/14 HP -1 Pain
Lotus recovers 2 HP! 6/8 -1 Pain

Well, Paula is finding it hard to sing right now, but she can still get this Rock type all wet!

Water Pulse 3
(5)(4)(2)
(4)(4) Rhyperior takes 3 damage! 5/14 HP -2 Pain
(-)(-)(-)

Magnezone fires little magnetic explosives at Rhyperior to chip away at its rocky exterior even further.

Magnet Bomb 3
8 - 6 = 2
(4)(5)
3 + 2 + STAB + MC - 4 Sp Def + SE = 3 + 1
(5)(3)(3) Rhyperior takes 2 damage! 3/14 HP -2 Pain

Charm 4
(1)(2) Paula bursts into another coughing fit, unfortunately, which prevents her from Charming much of anything.

Rhyperior looks around, and seeing that there's no more rocks around for it to use as ammunition (as it used them all up already), it stands up straight and raises a fist into the air instead.  Karen's eyes go wide as she almost panics.  "It's going to punch the ground!!!"

The sky rains shadows on everyone!
Paula takes 1 damage 4/6 HP -1 Pain
Lotus takes 1 damage 5/8 HP -1 Pain
Magnezone takes 1 damage 8/10 HP -1 Pain

Lapras is mostly brought closer by the promise of food.  They don't hesitate to snap the snack out of Kee's hands, and they're busily munching away while Kee's speculating about what life must be like up here for a creature Lapras's size.

Lapras nods in response to Kee's second question, then goes back to munching on the food.
