[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
Shadow? Absol Round 1

Nagi prepares for the worst.  Dark types are definitely not his forte.

Calm Mind 1
(6)(2)(1)(6)(6)(2)(5)
+1 Special and Sp. Def for Nagi!

Kogeki's Absol, meanwhile, seems to be following much the same strategy as the one Kee encountered.  Except...

Shadow Hold 1
(5)(5)(1)(2)(2)(2)(4)(2)
Kogeki's pokemon are Blocked!

...when the shadows rush to Kogeki and prevent him from accessing his pokemon's pokeballs, no black aura flared around the Absol.

Susano'o, in all his bladed, fishy glory after bursting from the rainbow colored sphere, is making sure this Absol knows it's gonna be totally, utterly screwed.

Swords Dance 1
(5)(6)(2)(6)(5)(2)(2)
+2 Strength for Susano'o!

Absol begins to sing, and it's the same dismal, off-key song that everyone heard earlier!

Uh oh.

Perish Song 2
6* Beauty + 2 Contest + 2 Perform - 4 = 6
(5)(1)(4)(2)(1)(3)
Every pokemon that hears the song will faint after three Rounds!

Nagi and Susano'o are definitely looking a little off balance after that move.  Absol, strangely, seems to be unaffected, however.

Better end this quickly!  Guiding star and swordfish attack as one!

Iron Head 2
(6)(5)(1)(1)(1)
(3)(5)(1)(1)(5)(3)(1) Absol takes 1 damage 6/7 HP

Dazzling Gleam 2
(5)(1)(1)(4)(4)(2)
(2)(2) Absol takes 1 damage 5/7 HP -1 Pain

Absol attempts to flee, hoping to let the Perish Song do all the work.

Flee 3
Absol: (2)(4)(5)(2)(5) 3 successes
Kogeki: (4)(1)(5)(2) 2 successes
Absol flees to the tile to the left, immediately ending the Round!

However, despite Absol booking it, the Shadow Hold still seems to be in effect, as Kogeki finds he is still unable to recall his pokemon!  Kogeki has no choice but to pursue the Absol if he doesn't want his pokemon to faint.

Perish Counts
Nagi: 2
Susano'o: 2

The tile that Absol flees to...

*draws tile out of hat and places it on map*

...is the peak of another mountain that has a path that's been blocked by an avalanche occurring.  Though this time, the avalanche has destroyed the path because there's a lack of snow, not an excess.  Looks like this is where one started, not ended.

Kogeki, Nagi, and Susano'o manage to catch up to Absol on this tile, but there's a good chance that it might try to flee again.

Jonathan wastes no time in shaking Randolph's hand, that beaming smile still on his face. "Yes, that would be me.  Jonathan Brightflame, at your service!  Oh?  Ah, yes, those are mine!  Thank you very much!  Guess I must have dropped them in my haste!  Ahahahaha!"

Jonathan immediately puts on his hat and pockets the journal.  Then he rummages around in his pockets.  "Now let's see...you saved my life and all, so I think a reward is certainly in order...now where did...hmmmm...you didn't happen to pick up anything else, did you?  I seem to be missing a few things still..."

When Randolph offers to return the other belonging, Jonathan politely declines.  "Oh, dear me, nevermind that!  Keep them!  Consider it your reward!  To be perfectly honest, I'm not really much of a Pokemon Trainer.  The TMs aren't much use to me personally.  I can always buy more later if I need them.  The tablet, though...hmmmm, yes, quite irreplaceable.  Can't find those lying around at just any old auction house!  However...it was that item that guided me to that dreadful landslide...hmmmm...maybe it's not as much of a good luck charm as I thought...tell you what.  You can keep that tablet as well if you like.  I'd rather it not bring me more misfortune than good luck as long as I'm on this mountain.  Speaking of which...do you happen to know how to get back down to ground level?  I cannot for the life of me find the way."

Oh, for real?! Didn't know that but that's pretty cool, has been noted.

Kee HATES the these black shadows 'attacking' him an preventing the summoning/withdrawing of trained Pokemon, he intinctively attempts to beat them out as if the shadows were flames. It obviously doesn't work. ...Well, lucky for him that he already had two of his companions out.

They didn't even had to take a single blow from that Absol - Lucky, VERY lucky. Guess this particular dark prophet was more eager to flee and get away from their pursuer than to actually fight? Either way, it's a pleasant sight seeing that eerie aura leaving this Absol, another successfully performed exorcism!~ This 'very very thankful look' they gave Kee confuse him for a moment, but he's quick to return it with one that silently says 'You're welcome' and a gentle smile before Absol looses consciousness. What they went through must had been awfully painful... Seems like Lucas was right about purified Shadowmon appreciating the act of purifying.

Well then, both Octavia and Orpheus are quick-checked for wounds (which they don't have) and then receive their pets and hugs for a job very well done (Octavia moreso to diffuse her wariness a bit) before Kee knees down to the fainted and now-purified dark prophet, eying them for a bit and then ..... carefully yet gently stroking them over the head, avoiding to touch the black horn. He then calls his dear Drampa closer to him, picks the unconscious Absol up and places them safely and comfortably onto his (Orpheus') back. "Listen Orpheus, please do me the favour 'n carry this Absol for tha time bein'. They're not too heavy for ya, are they? Just wish to...take 'em to that CAVE we spotted AND they nonverbally pointed us to. Seems like that cave could the the root of maybe not all evil but SOME evil." He then pats Octavia's head in another attempt to calm her nerves down.

Kee's not yet catching this Absol - but he's definitely interested in doing so as he keeps a Heal Ball ready. That arises a question, can a Heal Ball unfaint a fainted Pokemon? I'd guess it could at least do so with 1HP, can it?

All together - he, his blue faeeveelution and gentle old dragon with an Absol safely on his back - then make their way to that cave entrance they spotted northeast from here. If there are obstacles along the way (cliffs or similar) they'll FLY over them. Once they're there, Kee looks into the entrance from a short distance, not YET entering because hell knows what may be in there.

Ran returns their smile with a half smirk, giving their hand a firm pump before letting go and crossing his arms.

"Thought so, but you know what they say about assuming: it makes an ass out of yourself. *Chuckles* And its more the other way 'round, given we just pull ya from the brink. Wouldn't mind any additional help you can provide, though."

The bristly blacksmith is a bit uncharateristic sad at returning such a fine hat to the dandy gentleman, but he hides it well as asks and answers the man questions. When they insist he and the others keep his formerly Items, he's at first hesitant to do so, but decides to accept the generosity with a small *sigh* and a nod. He doesn't feel that it's right to take payment for such a priceless thing as a life (He's not that mercenary about doing services), but if they feel so strongly the need to reward him and the others, he won't affront the man's dignity and good grace by refusing. That includes keeping the Fire Plate (something Brigid is no doubt happy about), but after hearing the fiery breeder say it lead him to disaster made Ran do a doubletake at it, before quickly looking back at the man.

"Wait. what? The Fire Plate took ya group to it? How?"

As for their question of escaping the Mystery Dungeon, Ran looks troubled for a moment, before he glances over to Scizors and raises a meaningful eyebrow at them.

"....Given the state Mt. Coronet's in right now, backtracking out of it ain't so easy as you think. Not sure if you could even Rock Climb, Fly, or rapple down the mountain itself to escape it. But....Scizors might know or have a way to get ya out of here, since he's sorta of an expert on what's happening to the mountain. If ya wondering how, its a long, weird story. I'll tell it to you if that's what you want, but if Scizors can get you outta here....well, it be unnecessary details to trouble ya with, in my opinion. "

And thus the scuffy smith throw the ball into the red Explorer's court! Go get it, mantis!

When everyone manage to reach that place, Kogeki has a moment to say a few things to the Stealth Pokemon. ''Nice tricks Absol. You are pretty strong at your own right. But no chance in hell you will escape this time. Nagi, return for now. You already did more than enough." Kogeki return Nagi and bring Heracross into the battlefield. "Lets see how you handle the power of a fighting type bug Absol."

Shadow? Absol Round 2 Initiatives
Absol: 17
Heracross: (6) + 9 = 15
Susano'o: 14

Kogeki: (1) + 10 = 11

Absol looks worried for a moment when Kogeki summons that Fighting type, bypassing the Shadow Hold entirely, but then relaxes and snickers when it sees that the bug's still no match for its speed.  Won't get away this time?  We'll see about that.

Jonathan doesn't quite seem to fully understand what's going on with the Flame Plate either.  "Well, it was just me that seemed to have a feeling that the tablet...belonged here somewhere, I guess?  I was actually separated from my companions quite some time ago while I was following that feeling I had when holding the tablet...you didn't happen to see my companions lower down on the mountain, did you?  I've not seen hide nor hair of them since I got lost in this confounded maze of a mountain..."

Scizor answers the latter question with a simple shake of his head.  Nope, haven't seen 'em.  "Oh, I see...well, I do hope they're alright...they can at least handle themselves better than I ever could in these of situations, so I'm sure their fine!  Ahahahaha.  So...you know how I could possibly get out of here?"

Scizor nods and holds out his Explorer Badge, giving it a tap with his other claw.

Jonathan is rightfully confused.  "...how is that supposed to help?  It's just a badge, is it not?"

Scizor looks like it's about to try to explain, then remembers that the humans can't understand him without a translator.  He shrugs at Randolph, then taps the badge again to indicate that Jonathan should touch it if he wants to leave.

Karen speaks up, at least able to do some minor interpretation of what Scizor's attempting to communicate.  "I think Scizor's trying to say that you'll have to trust him on this, sir.  If he says he can get you out of here, I think he can.  He seems to definitely know a little more about what's going on than the rest of us."

Jonathan's still a little skeptical, but he reluctantly nods.  "...well, if you say so...I suppose I don't have much of a choice in the matter, now, do I?  Well, any other questions to ask of me before I take off, then?  I don't suppose the lovely lady in the back there has any?"

Jonathan is referring to Rui, who's been quietly standing behind everyone else.  "...nothing I need to ask you.  Unless you happen to recognize me from somewhere?"

"...hmmmmm...I'm sorry to say I do not.  I'm fairly certain I'd remember a pretty face like yours, after all."  He winks, and Rui blushes, quite embarrassed.

"Heracross! Lets begin with a barrage of four Arm Thrusts! We must beat that Absol in one barrage right here and right now!"

"Susanoo! Sheer Force Waterfall, Hidden Power and Iron Head! If Absol try to escape, go after him with Aqua Jet as second or thir action!''

Kogeki himself unsheat his sword. Increasing his Strengh from 2 to 3 using 20 XP I have. His strengh now is 3. He gonna use 3 Strike Attacks with his sword.

Arm Thrust: Dex(3)+Fight(4)+Brawl(3)-Actions(2/4/6/8)=8D6/6D6/4D6/2D6
Damage: Power(1)+STR(3)+STAB(1)+SE(1)=5D6+1
Effects: Successive action. Have D1 chance to Flinch due to Kings Rock. Using Will Points to ignore pain this round in case Absol try to attack Heracross.

Waterfall: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Brawl(3)-Action(2)=7D6
Damage: Power(3)+STR(6*)+Sheer Force(2)+STAB(1)-Sunny Day(1)=12D6-1
Effect: Doesnt matter.

Hidden Power: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Channel(3)-Action(4)=5D6
Damage: Power(4)+Special(3)+Sheer Force(2)+STAB(1)-Sunny Day(1)=10D6-1
Effect: Doesnt matter.

Iron Head: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Brawl(3)-Action(6)=3D6
Damage: Power(3)+STR(6*)+Sheer Force(2)+STAB(1)=12D6
Effect: Doesnt matter.

In case Absol try to run:

Aqua Jet: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Brawl(3)-Action(4 or 6)=5D6 or 3D6
Damage: Power(2)+STR(6*)+STAB(1)-Sunny Day(1)=8D6-1
Effect: Priority Attack.

Kogeki Strikes: Dex(4)+Fight(3)+Weapons(3)-Actions(2/4/6)=8D6/6D6/4D6
Damage: Power(3)+STR(3)=6D6

Effect: Lethal Damage (Hold)
Notes: In case Kogeki get hurt, potion on himself.

Staring at the Fire Plate that was presumably in one of his hands after he first offered it back to the man, Ran felt an odd mixture of befuddled expectation and tired, weary irritation as yet another mystery that may or may not be connected to Mt. Coronet and its cosmic disaster of a mystery found its way to him, and after a moment he could only reach up to grip his face with his free hand and heave a long, heavy *Sigh* .

"Verdammt noch mal und durcheinander, kein anderes Mysterium, mit dem ich mich befassen muss. Warum passiert das immer wieder? Wann hat dieser Wahnsinn ein Ende?"

Translation: Goddamn it and confoundit, not ANOTHER slagging mystery I have to deal with. Why, WHY does this keep happening? When will this lunacy have a end?

He let Scizors handle the rest of the man's questions (Well, so much as the Pokemon could without the rest of the mini-group pitching in to help),  but when Johnathan entreated everyone for inquiries, Ran had a couple, along with a request. They were as follow:

- "While you were exploring Mt. Coronet, have ya seen or witnessed anything particularly unusual, or even impossible ? Odd Pokemon, unlikely events, topography or landmarks that are out of place, Items or stuff that just makes no sense, strange murals or signs, stuff like that. Anything at all?"

- "May I have your number
, so I can get in touch with ya after all this is done? The League and certain other people would want to hear ya story , and I want to make sure you got out of this okay. I'd also be interested in working with ya on your passion with Fire types, as I got an interest myself with a few of them, and I wouldn't mind helping you with your goals if we could come to an agreement. *Waves hand* But that can come later, if ever. Worry about getting back to civilization safe and sound and reuniting with your own group, alright?"

- "Johnathan, can ya do something for me?  I need ya to keep and pass along some information to Rowan - yes, Professor Rowan. We're technically on a 'job' from him (Ran makes an ugly face as he says that) that lead us to investigate Mt. Coronet, and as you can tell from your own experiences we've had an eventful time trying to get it done. If you let me, I'll write down a summarized report of my findings and intel I gathered in that journal of yours, along with a short message to my boss, and I'll tear them out and bound them together so you can get them to him. Before you do that, though, feel free to read it yourself, if ya want - in fact, I encourage ya to do so, and spread all the information to as many of your friends and associates as you can before you deliver it. Leek it to the media, if need be! People need to know the sodding nightmarish mess that's been kept from under their noses and be prepared to deal with its fallout, in case me and my partners can't deal with the root of it. The League nor Rowan hasn't done anyone any favors by keeping it secret. Heck, if they we're doing their own job right to begin with, me and my group wouldn't even be here dealing with it. So, can ya do that for me, Johnathan? Please?"

If they agreed, Ran would do as he described, quickly writing down everything about his job (and the details thereof) and what he's Encountered and discovered during the course of it and his investigation, his own theories about it (Mainly about the cross realities blending in and out, and threats of it growing worse as the distortions intensifies), all the info and theories they've scourged up about The Big Mystery (Mural Findings and Inter-dimensional Shenanigans included), Shadow Pokemon and Mystery Dungeons, and perhaps most importantly (or most prominently) the dangers and threat posed by The Big Mystery of Mt. Coronet and The Entity behind it. He'd be concise and comprehensive as he could be, writing at a speed that leave a Ninjack envious, a skill he picked up from his college note taking days and general business work. Additionally, he'd also shoot Karen a firm look that all but told her to not say  or object anything about this, and let him handle it.

Was that a wise idea, or necessary the right one? Perhaps not, but Randolph had long since grown fed up with the job Rowan mislead and more or less force him to take (Not to mention the man himself!), and he didn't at all agree with his or the League's decision to keep this whole business quiet anymore. Such secrecy serves no-one but keeping (in his opinion) much need and incentivizing pressure off the Sinnoh League - whose job was to serve and protect the people of the region - and if sparking a panic or uproar against them was what it took to light a fire under them to get shit done or hold them more accountable for how they handled this mess if his group actually survives long enough to sort it out, then let him start the bonfire

...And that would be all, and Ran would then let Scizors wisk Johnathan away to safety off the mountain! May everything work out for the best!

Shadow? Absol Round 2

Absol's the fastest thing on this battlefield, so question number one is: does it flee successfully?

Flee 1
A: (5)(5)(1)(1)(5)
K: (1)(2)(5)(4)

Kogeki barely manages to outmaneuver Absol as it trips on a small rock in its haste.  That feline isn't getting away now.

Heracross immediately moves in for the Knockout, determined to get this KO no matter what.  (Spend that Will Point!)

Arm Thrust 1-4 (you forgot the +1 Str surprise)
(5)(1)(5)(4)(4)(4)(3)(4) Crit.
(5)(2)(1)(5)(6)(3)
(5)(3)(1)(6)
(3)(5) 4 hits!

(3)(4)(4) Absol takes 3 damage and eats its Sitrus Berry.
(2)
(2)
(6) Absol takes 4 more damage! 3/9 HP -2 Pain

While Heracross backs up and repositions, Susano'o charges, cloaked in water.  This feline isn't going to get away this time!

Waterfall 1
(6)(4)(6)(2)(3)(4)(5) Get soaked!  That's a crit!
(3)(5)(2)(1)(4)(3)(3)(1)(3) Absol takes 0 damage, however, much to Susano'o's disappointment.

Kogeki's all up in Absol's face.  He's still not entirely used to wielding the Sword two handed again, however, and still needs to deal with a -1 Accuracy penalty.

Strike 1
(1)(4)(2)(4)(1)(1)(5)
(6) Absol takes 1 damage 2/9 HP -2 Pain

Susano'o tries to soak Absol again and end this fight sooner rather than later.

Aqua Jet 2
(5)(2)(3)(6)(5)
(1)(6)(3) ...to no effect.  Absol takes 0 damage once more.  Kogeki's closest partner is pretty few up with trying to use Water in this sunlight.

Absol tries to fight back, trying to inconvenience the bug so it has a better chance to get away.

Bite 2
5 + 4 + 3 - 4 - 2 = 6
(1)(2)(3)(3)(4)(4)
3 + 2 + STAB - 3 - NVE = 3 - 1
(3)(4)(3)
(3)(2)(4) No damage, no Flinch.  Better luck next time, Absol.

Strike 2
(5)(1)(3)(6)(5)
(4) Absol takes 1 damage. 1/9 HP -3 Pain

Kogeki's sword slashes are careful and precise, and the fight's at a point where any one solid hit from Kogeki or his pokemon could end this battle immediately.  Absol's getting desperate, so it tries one last trick.

Me First 3
5 + 2 + 2 - 3 - 6 = 0
However, Absol can't fully anticipate Susano'o's next attack because of being unable to focus due to extreme pain, so the attack fails.

Susano'o opts to use raw power instead of fancy techniques this time.

Iron Head 3
(6)(2)(3)
(3)(3)(2)(6)(5)(2)(5) Absol takes 3 damage and finally faints!

Susano'o sends the Dark type flying with his brutally powerful Iron Head attack.  It slams into the side of the mountain, losing consciousness instantaneously.

No dark aura evaporates into the air, however.  Instead, the Absol begins to change.  It shrinks, begins changing color from white to pink...

...until eventually, it's revealed that it was actually a Ditto all along, not an Absol.  ;P

Heracross, Nagi, and Susano'o all get 3 exp.  Kogeki gets 4.
