Well, you will not believe the tale I about to tale I had in today session. Okay, basically my character, Ormund a half-orc who was a soldier and had his friends and captain killed by a guy called Warlord, meet his hateful enemy when a city was attack by this enemy. I had to roll a d20 to resist the urge in go attack the guy.
The dice result was 9.
With tears of pure hatred, my char raise his longsword, and go to the kill. He roll 10 and miss the attack. The Warlord see the miss of his enemy, and go to the kill. He roll and get 15. My Armor class was 15. I counter-attack. But miss two. Our swords was hit to one another, face to face. His real face hide behind a plague doctor mask. Like
this one.
I try to attack again, but again, luck was against me and loose my opportunity. He then use his sword, and hit me hard with 20 Damage in total. My total life was 23. Only 3 of HP, and he at full health.
I knew my char would for sure die. But it was his goal to end this bastard. OR die trying.
He then throw his Longsword aside, and Ormund decide to at least try to lend a hit with his own punchs. No sword, only pure punch force. The other player was worry because I would likely die, but I said to him it doesnt matter. Ormund goal was to avenge his friends or die trying. Winning or loosing this battle doesnt matter. Even if he only could lend 1 damage, it would be enough.
My GM was so impressed he give my char 1 Inspiration Point. And I hastly used to cause the maximum damage possible and do critical...
D20 Roll...Another 20! Double Critical! Ormund Punch go at full force at the full power right at the Warlord mask, destroying the Mask, breaking most of his face, and sending the guy face at the ground. But despite that, the guy was alive, but with almost all his HP drained with such power. Ormund get his sword and point at his enemy.
"Lets finish this. One swing to end it all. Someone will die today."
Silence with the only sound be the sound of the rain hitting the battlefield, while the city was burning with destruction and flames. Ormund then shout, and once more the two fighters run at each other...Warlord roll...
It hit.
His sword, filled with Necrotic energy, slash at Ormund abdomen, doing a total of 3 damage. Taking of Ormund left HP to 0. The Warlord begin to walk away, thinking he killed the half-orc. "He was powerful. One more damage, and I would be killed."
Ormund was emotioless in the ground...blood falling from his cut. But...Orcs have one last trick. Half-Orcs race have one last power. A power only awake when they have the life reach to 0 and can get back to 1. A power who can only be used in rare ocasions.
Relentless Resistance.
With his last bit of strengh, with a misery 1 HP, Ormund go to the final attack. D20 Roll, this time without maneauvers, only pure dice strengh.
20 in d20. Full Lethal critical.
Ormund, the level 3 Half-Orc Fighter. The one who search his hateful enemy. He did what was impossible. His sword cut the heart of his enemy. The Warlord could not believe...But he consider the Half-Orc a strong warrior. And reveal he did kill his friends...but in servitude of highter enemies. A council of war. In servitude of a godness. The Godness of War himself.
Morrigan.
After saying such words, the Warlord said to his servants to not attack Ormund. Ormund close the eyes of the Warlord...and get the Warlord Sword. A weapon made to destroy light beings.
Morgan Blade.
He look one last time to the destroyed castle of the city in ruin. He destroy his enemy, but now he have more enemies to fight. And worse, a goodness of war. It was just the begining.
Or was until the moment he was killed by a goblin.
