[Meta Thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands
As for me I might need to invest my PC memory to be able to handle Baldur Gate 3. If I ever get a good pc to handle Baldur Gate 3, I let you people know and then we might able to play together. Solaria Crown of the Magister is another interesting option since it have a Baldur Gate 3 gameplay style, and my PC can actually handle.

But in the case of Baldur Gate 3 I might do a technique I usually do in the campaigns I play using a technique I like to call PWC:

Party
Weakness
Coverage.

I usually hear and wait everyone choices of characters style and choose something the party lacks. Something to cause damage? Rogue or Damage Paladin. Healing? Druid or Cleric. Tank? Paladin, Fighter or Barbarian. Spellcasting? Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock or Bard. Utility? Wizard or a skill monkey Rogue.

As for Wildermyth, yeah, it is a pretty awesome game and it does have a charm. The game also have multiplayer option up to five players. Not to mention if you play with 4 people or more, you can start the game with 5 heroes. The Legacy mechanic is what make me fall in love with the game. The idea of a hero be used in other campaigns, evolved and then become a hero talk in folklore and then a Myth among mortals? That's radical story telling!

It's like...those old stories with different versions. Like Robinhood or King Arthur, with different versions of characters and variants of the story. In one story you facing creatures who corrupt the land with tentacles and other nasty spells and years later you might be facing a Cult of people who lives underground who are trying to conquer the surface, to the point of facing a war against ancient machines who use the dead to create new machine who might cross generations! All with heroes who grown, get stronger, get old, and then might retire, but he or she might have a son or daughter who takes the mantle of the family and become a adventurer! And maybe that same adventurer will have everlasting friendships, strong rivalry, and even fall in love with one of his companions.

The world stories created in this game is amazing! So far is one of my favorite games in a long while! Speaking of which: Are you available tomorrow to continue our game @Dragonstrike?

I can already imagine how hard scheduling those game sessions with 3+ people across several different timezones would be.  But hey, I'm up for the challenge!  If I wasn't, I wouldn't have been helping with running tournaments in UCC for as long as I have  Tongue

The Legacy mechanic is definitely one of the most interesting mechanical pieces of Wildermyth as well as an interesting storytelling device.  Playing with fresh faced heroes who have to roll with whatever they get is a very different experience from recruiting a legend with a fine tuned list of synergistic skills built up over the course of many different stories!

Yup, I should be available tomorrow evening!  I'll let you know when I'm home from work.

Hey everyone. It's been....quite some time since I posted, huh?

....Yeah, let's get this out of the way: I've been a no-show on the forums for the past quarter year or so. I dropped off the face of the earth without warning for most of you, and things have been in a lurch since then. Hopefully you all have been having a relatively good time, because me....well, suffice to say I have very little love and tolerance left for pharmacy school. Honestly I'd leave if I was not already swimming in debt - alas, I remain so I can hopefully get a job that can allow me to live with it.

Anyhow, all that stress of school and the politics of going there has left me in a bit of a poor mood, to put it lightly. I've been feeling demotivated for quite some time in my creative pursuits, and my attitude towards others has been....not the greatest. So I decided early on to disconnect from the forums to spare everyone my piss poor attitude and any sporadic updates, and focus on muddling through my first semester back and see how it went.

And it went...relatively well, all things told. Still go a few things left to do, but I've passed this half - all's left is other, and then I'm off to rotations for a year. My mood is still....not great, but this news and the abundence of free time I'll be having in the near future has bolstered my spirits enough to give running my campaign another go - at least for a little while. So rejoice - we'll have some fun on the forums once more, no matter how brief that may be!

On that note, I got a few things I want to discuss about the Campaign itself:

- First, I've been having second thoughts on throwing that Super Boss at you, at least this early in the game. The intro is all about getting people settled and guide them through the openning act of my campaign, but I have realized I may have let my zest for spectacle get the better of me here. Plus like half of my players couldn't/wouldn't be participating due to being underleveled and/or grossly outmatched at this point in the game due to their character level - hardly a good thing, in retrospect.

So, I make this offer - I can rework things so that nobody has to tackle the Super Boss in the near future if they wish to do other things/not have it loom over their heads in the mean time. It'll take a bit of work, but it can be done!

- Since the holiday season is upon us, I have an idea were we could have a Christmas Themed 'mini-campaign' within Wild Lands. In game it'd only take about a day or two for it to complete, and I think it'd be a tidy way of easing everyone back into the game after such a long stay of it. What do you guys think?

- Going forward, I'm probably going have to decrease the overall effort and quality of my campaign if I want to make consistent updates outside of the holidays and during my school time, just to be able to do it at all on top of my workload. This includes minimizing characterization, putting hard battle limits (as in one Trainer Battle per day or so per PC, bar exceptions), and emphasizing more Encounters based on RP or simple dice rolls as opposed to my usual fare. It's not...great, but sacrifices will have to be made if I want to continue my campaign without driving myself pair juggling it and every other hobby and task I got loading down my plate.

That's all for now, mates. Once more, I hope you've all been well, and that this month of December can put a lot of holly-jolly in us all!

Oh you, Windos, my dear love and sweetheart... [Image: 677529301998108691.webp?size=96&animated=true]

I'm so so so sorry that pharm school is such a hassle and chore and stress for you, I really am. I've already told you that I do understand your situation though since I can relate with it in a way, so please don't beat yourself up too much about going silent because of it, alright...? I'm not going to abandon you because of it, no, and I'm not going to cease supporting and loving you because of it, no x2. You mean way too much for me to do so, and I'd be a horrible person to not give you my utmost emotional support from the distance to continue pushing through. I hope that this fact as well as that gift-art I've sent you has helped you surviving things at least a tiny little bit better! <3

So proud of you for having passed this half!! ☆*:.。.\(^▽^)/.。.:*☆ You absolutely deserve it, so do rejoice and enjoy 'the abundence of free time you'll be having in the near future' as you're putting it! Cheers to you, my dear otp! <3

I'm sooo looking forward to get back into this campaign and enjoy playing it with you and the others, yes I really do - even if it's only for a limited time aka until you have to attend classes and again after winter break (but let's not worry about that just yet and enjoy ourselves!). I missed this, and I frankly missed you. *cue for another gentle cuddle and a tender kissu just for you~*

Now, for all the campaign-related points you're stating:

Yes please. A definite 'yes pretty please' on not having to fight that Wandering Hurricane, at least not so in the fear in-game future. It's great that you gave this a second thought, I appreciate it! And yes I knooow you reassured me that Bern's capable and everything, but I personally am not feeling like I'm ready to take on a strong Malefic Monstrum THAT early in-game, for various reasons I'd happily elaborate if needed/desired. I much rather wish to do other things like properly preparing myself for the journey through Sutalör + handle some loose ends instead of the looming dread of a potentially deadly Super Boss fight that has a significant risk of loosing either one of my Pokemon or Bernhard as a PC before the campaign/journey has really started. You're likely aware that I tend to get attached to my PCs and fictional characters relatively easy, so I...indeed am asking you to please put in the bit of work and rework things so that this battle does not take place or is significantly delayed or canceled all together. This does also mean that the rewards for winning this battle are delayed or cancelled - but that's the lesser evil, and I'm fine with that (byebye, Philosopher's Stone! Maybe at some other time I'll be able to put you into my Inventory.)

Only problem about that is that Seddi in-chara has already signed some papers about that fight - but I'm sure you are able to settle/overwork that in some way? I hope??

Sounds interesting, so I'm up for that, another 'yes please' from my side! I like your thinking of this sort of event for easing us as well as yourself back into this campaign. I'll make sure to find the time for this mini-campaign among my currently busy job (inventory is coming up, ugh) as well as my other hobbies as well as loose ends concering my new appartment.

Wondering however whether you mean that it'll be christmas-themed IN-game or OUT-of-game? That, plus I've already planned my course of Actions/Encounter Slots for Bernhard for the current in-game Day, but if all else fails I can still re-plan things. My desire to try out a battling as a Scimitar via magics on the current Day is still there however (hence, - spoiler! - I asked Morgana in that letter to keep her fairy-kin available for me), so I'd appreciate if that could still be done please!

Decreasing the overall effort and quality of this campaign, if I'm being honest to you, doesn't sound fun and I'm much more into 'quality over quantity'-person, but as you're stating correctly sacrifices are needed if this game shall continue during juggling your job, pharm school, and other hobbies. Limiting battles per Day and going down a more RP-based route sounds good though, I'd support that! The overall decision on whether you want to continue this campaign that way or put it on hiatus is, in the end, up to you and I'm fine with either way; I'm not quite sure yet what I'd enjoy more. The only thing that's important to me personally is that this campaign will NOT be cancelled by you (bar some emergencies occur that warrant this for good reasons, but let's not talk about that) and that you please will take care to not overstress yourself/burn yourself out by having to handle it inbetween real-life-things, aka please do take breaks when needed, alright, my dear? I don't want that GMing this ends up feeling like a chore for you, that would not be fun both on my and your end. I'd also appreciate if you were to state things going into hiatus, like Iron did with his campaign a few times. I love this campaign and I'm already too attached and invested in this game, my PC and my Pokemon, haha... (^v^; ) It's so much fun to escape dreadful reality via it indeed. Unfortunately this doesn't always work because, to quote EeveeBailey, 'life be lifeing'.

Pretty much agree with everything that Phantom said, taking care of yourself during these times takes precidence, so your leaving was understandable. Not sure if Darren would have been foolhearty enough to risk life and limb fighting the tornado, got more time to think on that one. Totally up to the mini events. (If you could, add Iron Moth/Slither Wing to Darren's wishlist 'mons)

Glad to hear from ya again Windos.  Not gonna lie, the sudden disappearance was making me a little worried.  Since Phantom hadn't said anything about it though, I presumed it was (as so eloquently put) 'life be lifing'.  I am glad to hear that's all it was, and I do hope you can manage to get through the remainder of that schooling with as little frustration as you can manage!

With regards to the Superboss encounter...

With regards to a holiday themed side story...

With regards to scaling the campaign back a little...

Happy Holidays!  I'm glad that you're back in time to enjoy them without the stress of busywork Smile

Hey mate, first of all, don't worry. You are our friend, and we understand you life been busy (heck, even my own life has been busy too, so I in no place in judge you old friend). Its so good to hear you pass in half in what you need! I trully, trully happy for you Windos! And we will support and help you in whatever you need! Besides, I would like to train a bit more Oz new Pokemon members and bond with them better!

First things first:

- I okay in delay in the super boss, since I would like to explore a bit the town and its people. And maybe Oz to have interaction with the other members of the group if the opportunity rise. Specially Darren and Akumi since the latter have some sort of Patron who is pretty much familiar to Oz, so she will of course want to interact with him to learn more if possible!

- Thematic christmas mini campaigh would be a spetacular thing! And such spirit event (heh "spirit") would be cool to experience in how each chraracter related to such event (specially Oz since...well...its been a long while she had a reason to enjoy christmas). I up for it!

- Thats okay. I understand why you would need to go to such path, so no problem on my side! Besides, I enjoy quite a lot the RP element of the campaigh so no problem on my side!

And no worry on my side my good friend. I just happy to hear from you once again!

Ohh! From what I'm understanding from the other's responses, that planned mini-campain/event will be christmas-themed IN-GAME too? Neato!~ This sounds adorable as heck, yes please, my dear! ...However I don't think Bern's personally much of a holiday-person (he'd be more like "go away, I am busy with important business and with drinking tea >:V", lol), but Zephy would absolutely looove christmas, me feels. And if it makes her happy... Alternative idea A, the Gleams invite him over to celebrate with the family for having saved Saph? Alternative idea B, if Morgana were to sweep him up and semi-force him to celebrate with her, he would not decline either.

Dragonstrike, I'll respond to your points in your MetaThread tomorrow, got to turn in for the night for an early workshift tomorrow.

Welcome back Windos. It is nice to see ya again.
I was concerned so it is good to know that it was life be lifeing after all. Academics can be a big hassle so I wish ya good fortune in the rest of the endeavor.

As for your points:

-The others already said their fair share about the superboss. Seeing as I was not fighting it either way I'll leave it to them.

-A christmas themed mini sounds fun. Neat way to get us all back into it.

-The most important thing is to not overwork yourself. It's unfortunate but of course preferrable to you burning out.

*Reading over everything...*

Alright, seems like we got a consensus here: I'll get started right away with introducing the mini-campaign while simultaneously throwing some wrenches for the Super Boss Progression. Hopefully it'll all turn out well, and very holly jolly, he he he....

On another note - this will probably cancel the planned Trial that Ianai had going on, though with what I already have brainstormed with the M.C. she probably won't be too upset about it.

Now, onto reviewing the last few posts and seeing what to do about them....
