[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

As for Chloe, Darren senses her forlorn jealousy and consoles her

Gotcha!

The Beach was jammed packed like a bushel of Orans in a Crawmont's beak, as many of the beach goers were partying out of their minds, swarming the surf like a school of hungry Velzua, or otherwise having fun and making fools of themselves. Not even your 'creepy' Bugs could spare you some breathing room as you wandered and scavenged the for Treasures, lost Items, or other goodies - though Smore almost getting squished and her subsequently unleashing a Heat Wave did alleviate things (even if it earnt you an annoyed scolding by one of the Life Guards on duty).

Let's Go: Beach Combing!
INS + Survival + Alert - 3 (CROWDS!) + 1 Success (SO Much Litter/Revealed)
(2)(2)(6)(6) 3 Successes!

You managed to find two things of note!

Item #1
Type: (4)  Decent!    Rarity: (20) Oh. My
*Rolling Fortune...* Pair of Fours, Pair of 3s, 2 Successes, 1 Fail

Item #2
Type: (2)  Better than not  Rarity: (17) Maybe better than you thought

For your second find, you managed to scavenge up a 2 Spicy Rage Candy Bars (Full Heal, but if Fire Type or Like Spicy Things it also boosts Happiness), sweet but red hot! Smore seems to vibrate as you retrieve them, and you can feel her drool and eagerness to leap out and feast on them.

The first Item, however....

You manage to stumble into a small sand pit, at the bottom of which was a Fused Pearl ($2000) ! When you try to take it, however, a creature bursts up from the sand to chomp on your hand, dealing 2 Damage and causing you to draw back!

Looking at it, the critter was revealed to be none other than a Vibrava, who looked Most Cross at you trying to pilfer their newly acquired Treasure! You were at a stare off with the lil false dragonfly, each of you waiting to see what your next move was....

(6)(3)(3)(3)(3)(2) 1 Success, seesh! Triggering Secondary Roll - Ecclessia!

Ecclessia's 'Back-up' / You DARE Dismiss Us?! Roll: Flat 5D6 (AAH, KRAKEN DRAGON!)
(4)(1)(1)(5)(1) Also 1 Success, geeze

...He looked ready to relax once he judged you weren't that much of a big shot, but a rumbling growl from your Dragon at that got him to reconsider his stance just a bit.

He was willing to lower the price for you for $800 Poke, OR if you spent a little more ($1200, or the Ring you got) he'd show you a good, remote-ish spot on the water for you to angle (far away from him and not to scare the others) .  Which one suits your fancy? Either way, Net Ball Obtained!

Gloomtail seems a bit [C u r i o u s ] and just a *bit* [ N e r v o u s ] about this other strange Dragon you revealed, from what you could feel from His Ball...

Vernon will text the party to see if anyone else wants to tag along, and will probably test out the Ask Sylvie feature at the fortune teller. He certainly doesn't have anything against Creshireans.

I think it would be funny if Oz went to the Afterlife Bar xD

Since you didn't put a preference as to which you want to do first, let's do the Fortune Teller first!

Getting to Main Street was somewhat of a hassle, what with the throngs of Tourists, visitors, and outgoing city folk continuously partying in the streets, but when you let Pwee out they parted ways somewhat easier. Munchlax's adorableness and relative rarity earnt him several fond treats and belly rubs/head pats, while your giga lily duck took every chance they could to sneak and scrounge what leftover or poorly guarded non noms he could get. Both get a Full Big Meal from this; + 1 Temp HP for Pwee!.

When you arrive at the Fortune Teller, you see that they're staying in a deep purple tent that is adorned with the ancient Eye symbol, coupled with a few stars and a smattering of Old Unown weaved throughout. The place was being given a wide berth, the crowds seemingly doing everything in their power to ignore, avoid, or mentally cause the place to spontaneously combust. This place has no home here, that you can easily tell.

Entering, you see a tall, fair faced boy, just on the cusp of full adulthood - 18 to his early 20s, you believe. They were peering over a Crystal Ball that seemingly had a misty, starry fog within, which stood on a table that had for Blue and Pink burning candles and a couple of braisers emitting some indiscernible incense. The young adult was wearing traditional and fairly classical Cheshirian clothing of a deep purple hue - I'll leave the exact design to your imagination and elaboration, Iron -  fair and neatly combed back black hair, and a long, thing, pointy nose.

The 'youngster' looked up as you entered, givning you a bright smile and warmly clapped their hands together.

"Ah, welcome, welcome! So good to meet you in person at last. I didn't know if you would come, but I had a good feeling you or one of the others would. Please, take a seat,"

He motions to a chair in front of the table and patiently waits, letting you get yourself comfortable and ready to ask any questions or requests you can think....

Vernon doesn't care if people see him go into the tent.

Traditional Creshirian clothing is evolved from the fairly practical traveling outfit, but includes decorations from older civilizations, like spirals and fishhooks. So we're talking light longsleeve button-up shirts with a breast pocket, a sort of shoulder pad construction with breathable vents, perhaps a belt or sash, and slacks. It looks a little incongruous in purple, but that just fits the entertainment aspect of this teen.

Saying 'oh i knew you'd come' is the oldest fortune teller trick in the book, but knowing Vernon is involved in a party is a little more impressive.

Vernon sits on his turtle and looks just as comfortable as if he'd settled into a plush chair. He's ensconced himself where he can see the crystal ball. "I have some questions for sure. And you might be interested in one of my friends, who just came back from the dead! And I have this token you can uhhh meditate on or whatever." He hands over the crystal leaf gem.

1. "I'd love to know anything you can tell me about this and the forces connected to it."
2. "I'd love to know if you can sense a coming storm."
3. "And honestly, I'd like to know how long my future is tangled up with being in this city."

Fascinating! + 1 XP to Vern!

The Fortune Teller winces as you mention Oz' resurrection, rubbing their temple with slight worry and the lingering ghost of Pain.

"Quite. That....momentous event certainly was an....ordeal. For a moment I thought the very fabric of Fate would come Undone from your companion's.....loss. The relief I felt when that was overturned was immense, to be perfectly honest. Perhaps I'll see them soon to discuss that matter. Perhaps note. Fate, and its many paths, are so fickle and mutable, even with the Eye's Sight guiding me."

He doesn't attempt to take the Leaf Astral Stone, and demonstrates why: his touch phases right through it!

"Ah, yes. Your totem of Ascension - A Lodestone of Fate and You. Symbol and Sign, for You, your Companions, and the Earth and Stars, so bright and mysterious, profane and Divine. A mere Fate Weaver as myself trying to Hold such a Lofty, Heavy Stone is but a dream - not mine, but you and your own. And, perhaps, some particularly Arcane or Earthly individuals."

The self-described Fate Weaver contemplates your questions, before looking into his Crystal Ball, waving and weaving his hands around it to conjure the Answers you seek from the very Aether within....

"Hmm...I'm told you all I can about the Astral Stone of Yours. It's powers and uses are mostly Unown to me and my Sight, though for the most part I See it mostly being remarkably mundane - until circumstances and Chance provoke otherwise, as you have no doubt recently Felt. Symbol, Sign, Similarity - You, You, and Them. Together as One, Bond by Purpose Grand and Untold...."

The second question gets another wince as the Crystal Ball suddenly *FLASHED* with a brilliant, nearly entrancing L i g h t  that you Struggle to shrug off before the man banishes it with a wave, cradling his eyes with one hand and letting out a Pained pant.

"....I'm afraid that has been obscured to Me and the Sight. Though whether it is deliberate or it being a mere portent of this Storm's......radiance, I can not say for certain. All I can is thus: Soon."

The third question gets them to shake their head and look back into the Ball, mumbling a bit to himself before looking back at you.....somewhat worried but confidant in you.

"....No more than a Day at most after This One, no less than Three, perhaps. I can not See One such as yourselves Futures so cleanly or clearly, but that much I could find. Best prepare yourself for another long, winding Journey, Wandering One."

You know, for a Fortune Teller/Fate Weaver he's being remarkably NOT vague and Mysterious with his answers, but then again you and the group you're in seem to be of sufficient 'Rank' in the cosmological/FATE AND FORTUNE scale that either he's willing to dismiss the typical trappings of his practice or can't help but be Clear because he's Foretelling and Answering one such as you. The allusions to being Pained by recent actions seem to lean more towards the later than the former, but who knows for sure?

Do you have any other Questions? The man already looks Tired after just Divining Three Questions of Yours, but they seem willing to Answer More. Maybe if you had some Will Restoratives you could 'pep' them back up, or something similar....

"Sorry, I can see that took a lot out of you. But I don't have any restoratives to spare that could help." (Vern has a Berry that would probably help, but he's saving it.) "At this point, so many of the questions raised by my journey are so vague that I can tell what I should be asking about them. So I won't trouble you with them, unless maybe I find out more first. Will you be around long? If not, where are you going next? Maybe we could exchange numbers?"

"I've heard of tarot readers and such who can do a 'general' reading on a person who lacks specific questions. Is that your style?"

When the encounter is over: "I appreciate the crystal ball reading, thank you for opening your mind to the Universe on my behalf. I know it takes a lot even out of people who aren't connected to psychic powers." (true from my IRL experience)
Vern looks around for a jar or hat to put a modest tip into. ($200)

As usual, Vernon texts the party about this encounter, mentioning to Oz that their death had big ripples in the second world. He tells them if they visit the fortune teller that they should try to bring a Will restorative.

As he's leaving, he turns back suddenly. "Oh. One more thing. If anyone FUCKS with you for being Creshirean, call me. My friends and I will get there in a hurry to show any bastards what we think of bigots."

He'll pay using the Ring to get dibs on a good spot.

A good? reaction from Gloomy? Seems like activities including Ecclesia were a good idea. Having 2 female dragons on his side really was a blessing.

When it does come to fishing he'll surf out on her back onto the spot and then use a Good Bait to go for something nice and big.

Seddi's not sure how to feel about Sylvia suddenly deciding to be reclusive.  He'd send a short text back.

You ever need something' from me, Sylvia, don't hesitate to ask, alright?  You've helped several members of this lil' group of ours out, and I won't soon forget that.  Stay safe, ya hear?

Hearing from Sada that international comms are still down gets a worried frown from Seddi as well.  Who the hell managed to mess them up this badly?!  Well, at least they can send a text based message back to Paldea.  And Seddi would do just that.

Try not to be too drunk once comms are fully restored, Poppy.  I got ya a lil' somethin' as thanks recently, and you're gonna want to make a good impression when I give them to ya.

Leaves not being able to talk efficiently at all now is troubling too.  Especially since it's a software issue that she'll have to handle entirely on her own.  Pros and cons of advanced tech ahead of its time, I suppose.  Amazing when it works, a nightmare to fix when it breaks.

Well, one thing at a time.  Maybe he can use the lull in the amount of work to wrap up some loose ends.  Or maybe just take a much needed break.  Speaking of...

Seddi's still on top of responding to messages, as per usual!

Me, mad?  Maybe a little still, but I've had some time to think what happened over.  I can imagine you had good reason for pullin' that stunt, of course, but some context would be nice if you're up for swappin' some stories later.  Yeah, I don't expect you to tell me for free.  You give me a story, and I'll tell you one in return.  Sound fair?

And I don't mind spendin' some time with ya at the festival today.  Honestly, I probably need the break, though I'm still keepin' an ear out for any news about the WH Huntin' Party.  Any particular plans ya had in mind?

*Flashback*
...Oz still want to at least try to find a way to restore Dite situation. She is still determined to try anyway. If did not work...Then she will give Dite back to Tiffany. But at least she will do it knowing full well she tried.

She has a lot to do. She feels terrible to what she made her Coven pass though...But now...she need to rest. Work things out, and then find a way. She must...She need...

Oz did send a short message, thanking Sylvia for the advice. She will promise to at least try.

Oz will reply thanking for the message and tips. She will give her sisters time and...sort out things someway...Hmm...

*Day Seven*

Oz had dark circles in her eyes, while looking at Glinda. She look at her own feet, still a little low because of yesterday punishment and her....currently situation with her Coven. "...Hmm..." Oz just mumble a bit, not very upstart. "...Maybe I was not beat myself enough though...*Sigh*." Oz sit in the ground, resting her head in the bathroom door, putting a hand in her eyes, trying to process all the experience of the last day. "...Sometimes I think...I a terrible trainer. And a terrible leader for our sisters. I know, kinda by extension, a trainer kinda become the Leader of the team...but...You always knew to make the best decisions. You were more wise and knowledge than me. Heck, even Fortuna been the wisest and older of the group think you are a great leader." Oz did put her head between her legs, feeling the heavy burden in her shoulders. "Why you all choose me to be the Leader is...beyond me to be honest. I did make bad choices. A lot...And I know what is done is done...but...I scared. I scared that I would not be able to fix things with Dite. I scared to disapoint Fortuna, my mentor, my professor, my sister...My...Witch mother...And..." She squeeze her eyes, trying to hold as much she can her tears. "...I scared of loosing Hecate...My sister...And my...daughter..."

Oz feel all the pressure in her shoulders, she squeeze her shoulders, trying to hold back, be strong...Or at least find strengh somewhere. After a minute, she...try to calmdown, and take deep breaths. "...But...I know crying will not solve anything. Never...did. It did not help in the past. And it will not help now." She stand up, and clean her eyes. "...I think...I will go to the festival. Try to...put my head in something else...Maybe even rest my mind. Maybe...Find a way to at least start to fix things. Its been a while since you problably also had any kind of...fun. I...I could also try the opportunity to start fixing things with poor Dite. I know she...is extremely negative with me, but, maybe I could...try to explain things. Open my heart, be honest...*Sigh* I don't know. Since I can only carry 6 Pokemon, I was thinking in put one of our sisters behind. Maybe Persephone. I know its been a long time since you both talk but, she is most unfazed by the events of yesterday, believe or not. And Bethy is extremely close to Dite so maybe...with her around it could help things be easier. I know I screw up things, badly. And problably never going to be able to fix...But I must at least try. I send a message to Seddi...we didn't had time to spoke and even have some fun, so maybe this festival could also help...ease my mind."

(05-21-2025, 07:07 AM)Dragonstrike Wrote:

Oz look at her phone. A weak smile spreading in her face. "And speaking of the devil. Let me tell you Glinda, sometimes I think Seddi is either a Magi, a Gallade disguised as a human or a have some kind of premonition power, because he knows when and where to send a message, heh." She look at her cellphone and then typed her message, problably with Glinda at her side, looking at her sister talking with her friend.

I...Did. I did had my reasons. Its...a long story.

Oz was hesitant to tell Seddi her story...and specially after her experiences she had in the past with people putting their trust on her. The dark thoughs almost returned to her mind, but she refocus her efforts to not let the darkness spread in her mind again. Not. Now. Focus in what you must Oz.

She takes a deep breath, and then type again.

If we going to stay together as companions against a Malus...and work together as a team from now on...I think...you all deserve the truth. Just...Give me time to think what to say, alright? Its...not easy for me. But...considerely everything you guys did for me...And I feel kinda responsible for Sylvia...leaving the group. It is in part my fault. And you guys risk a lot to save my life. This is the least I owe you. I...just need to fix things with my sisters. They are...important to me.

...Meet me in the festival. I will tell you the truth. If "Fate" chosen all of us to be part in this journey, the least I must do is...put my faith on you guys. I must warn you though: My story is not good. Its...ugly. And you problably will hate me after I finish. But if you end up hating me and never want to see my face again...I will understand. And accept whatever you though of me.

"I...Its bee years since I lived in this region. I though in just...go there and see what is available to enjoy the break. Maybe even get some food maybe. I have nothing in mind though, but I could maybe take a search and see what is available and could be good for our Pokemon partners and us?"

@Lord Windos What events in the festival are available that Oz and Seddi and their Pokemon partners could choose to have some fun there and just...vents things out? Do I need some kind of roll for that?
