[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(06-09-2017, 01:55 PM)Iron Wrote: Shiva, on flipping through the book you didn't see a single thing that could be called a "spell" or any offense-oriented magic.

See? The book does not pose any harm to us. It's just what the title suggests, Earth Lore. The Wizards must have their knowledge from elsewhere.
Still won't show the book directly to the others, since I see no reason right now to do so. Ventus still might not like what they write there.

Also, Iron, what happened to Sage? I do like his character somewhat. Or rather, nevertheless.

Ventus. The fact is that you randomly ordered lethal damage on a Pokemon for absolutely no in-character reason.

You did so in front of witnesses from all sides of the alignment spectrum.

You did so in a way that didn't even benefit Ventus; it was just something you wanted to do. Arbok isn't any better as a figher if she uses lethal damage.

There is no way it could have gone otherwise.

The rangers' presence had already been established.

I won't apologize for what was a very reasonable scenario. If you don't like that you don't have to play.

I won't apologize for being slightly peeved at the way you set me and Phantom up from that scenario on, then. I'll still play the game, as I won't let something like this ruin the entire experience, but I'll keep this in mind with my future plans, Iron. This incident is just worrisome to me as a player...

I didn't set you up in any way. I never implied that lethal force was warranted. As DM I will always react the way I think the world would react. I even warned you many, many times about the probably causes of such an action. So you knew exactly what was likely to happen, even.

Imagine you are at a pond outside a doctor's house on Earth. You push a guy into a pond, and then yell that you're going to kill his dog.

Do the cops get called?

Hey, please leave me out of this whole thing! I have no problem with Iron throwing the Cops onto us because of what happened.
But I surely apologize that I didn't try to stop Ventus from threathening the use of lethal force. I should have done that as his closest companion in this game.

*Sigh* I understand why you choose to do things, Iron, but that's not the problem I have with the outcome. The problem is that I just believe that for a first penalty for being reckless, slapping me a $3000 Dollar fine and a mark on my record that I'm not likely to remove is just very harsh, especially given that we were fighting a bad guy that by all rights shouldn't have gone running to the police for help, but rather his bad guy friends to rough us up. I expected that kind of consequence for picking on them needlessly, not the one you gave me.

Given the way you have fully described your thoughts on the encounter (which I fully agree with, mind you), so going to court at this point is just liable to be a waste, unless I really think outside the box. It just feels like this whole encounter, which originally was just a way for me to earn more money for supplies/ a Metal Coat for Scyther, has just been rendered meaningless. That demotivated and depowered me a lot, Iron, which doesn't put me in the greatest of moods right now. Sorry for snapping out you, but it just frustrates me how far I've set back now with not only Ven's own goals, but with the group itself...

@PhantomUnderYourDesk : Sorry for dragging you into that, I just thought that you were a bit peeved about that outcome as well. It won't happen again, I swear!

Just because I got emotional about this doesn't blind me to your logic. It just makes it seem more...malevolent to me. That, and I have a bias against cops IRL, so that was a double wammy on my sensibilities. If I have anything else to say on this matter, I'll PM you instead of diverting attention away from the game with my whining.

But that was before Creshire League attacked...
