It's only 1Xp average less than what you wanted, and has the potential for more than what you wanted.

I mean if you could get large amounts of XP for getting mulched, everyone would be doing it.

So yeah, as a strategy for gaining large amounts of XP, it's not a great call for a trainer. As a roleplaying device, it makes sense to do it.

I understand the points you are making, Iron, and I like the Roleplaying aspect of this hypothetical training session quite a bit, but at this point its fair too much of a gamble on my part. Essentially, in order for me to get a decent amount of XP from this, not only do I have to win a fight against Staryu, but also roll really well in my training AND write a decent enough scene in order to maximize my XP gains (Which would be around 14 or less). If I lose out on one or both, Michael gets nothing at all but a very bad attitude replacing his egotism, and grudge to settle against Nathan's Pokémon, and generally being at odds with his master.

Unless I stand to gain sustainly from this, its just not worth it to go ahead with the scenario, the more I think about it. Having a set amount of XP you can get on top of whatever you win in the gamble (Either winning against Staryu or the Training Roll; pick my poison indeed) would make such a gauntlet more palatable, at the very least. I might not win big, but Michael at least is guaranteed 6 XP for his pummeling, which would at least make a dent into getting Spore if nothing else.

Normally, I don't say anything about how much XP should be granted from an engagement, since Training Roll are a hard mechanic in the game, and battles are something I go into fully knowing that I stand a better chance of winning than not. However, since I'm going to be doing nothing BUT losing, I want at least some assurance that my Shroomish and chara don't walk away with absolutely nothing.

Then perhaps it will just be a relaxing camping trip! So rare in the busy life of a trainer.

So be it, then. Guess Michael will remain an egotistical, overconfident fighter for the time being. Sorry about getting you worked up over this, @Dragonstrike ... All this talking going to naught doesn't sit well with me, but I no longer desire to do this gauntlet of mine. I just don't find it a good idea anymore, in light of the information I'm receiving.

So, @Lord Windos, you won't have your Shroomish battle against Nathan's Pokemon because you'll likely won't get what you aim for, is that right? What did wish to achieve via that battle again? I didn't quite get the idea but restained from asking because it was a thing between you and Dragon, but now... Maybe Shiva could help you out and get the chance to repay the help Ven brought to her a little?

Two things from my understanding:
- More exp for learning Spore
- RP reasons for getting Shroomish's ego under control.

The issue is that this 'gauntlet training' is tough as nails.  So while the second would be easily achieved, the first...not so much.  The rewards would be great, but the odds of getting them are abysmally low...  

Looks like there might be time for a friendly battle (or two now?) on this camping trip after all.

I essentially wanted a Mega Training Session that would also act as a way to beat some sense of disciple into Michael, and a way for Dragonstrike to earn some decent XP from all this. Seeing as the whole affair is highly luck oriented gamble the way @Iron has decided to run it, I don't want to go forward with it anymore. I said it once, and I'll say it again: I stand to lose a lot for the chance to gain a lot, which is something I find distasteful at this junction.

Some assurance, like a set XP from the whole deal plus a Training roll, would make the whole thing desirable, but I don't hink that's happening at this point, so I decided to call off the whole thing. No point in doing this if the most likely thing I get out of this is only a disobedient mushroom, so I guess I'll stick to training sessions and double battles for the time being, then.

What did Ventus buy for Shiva again? If it was the Stuffee, that was to pay back his ealier debt to her, so all is fair game their! Still, I'm curious what she has planned....

Sounds fair enough, especially risking a point in Disobedience sounds bad. However, as you mentioned Double Battles, you could just ask Shiva for a 2vs2 battle then with Michael on your side. Double Battles are more of my taste, and even if you'd loose, you'd still get more XP than from a Training Session and could slap them all on Michael instead of distibuting them on Michael and his battle partner. Win-win for both of us? Of course, this depends on whether or not Nathan challenges me to battle before and how that one turns out, but that's what I offer to you, Windos.

He bought her that adorable Snivy plushie, yes, but he also helped her on searching for Spindleweed herbs as well as protecting her on that M-Pinsir Encounter. Quite appreciated!

I would like a double batte with you after the one you have with Nathan, actually! Of course, given that Ven's asleep right now, telling him about that might be difficult until tomorrow. Of course, even though Ven considers you a great friend, he's not going to hold back one bit. Hope Shiva is prepared for the worse, in that case...

Hahahahaha, so our future ship(?) will share a Double Battle, sounds great! I could be nasty and send out Fennekin alongside someone else, but it'd be more because fox's collecting XP for his next move AND it could be a good experience for Michael to fight against a type he's weak against?

If you send out Fennekin, Ariel going to come out and have a few strong words with them in the form of Bubbles! Or I could send out Apsis and just Leer + Thunder Fang the poor fox into a new fur coat! Or maybe Lucifer would love the chance to Screech and Gust to his heart's content! Raphael might want to come out and play, and share their joy with everyone! Hehehehe, choices choices...all of the aimed straight at the biggest threat to Michael!
