[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(06-09-2018, 10:29 AM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote: Alright, looking into all the things we can do at the current location... There's so much to do and to explore, I'd love to spend a good amount of time there and investigate, like, everything please!~ Will split things into seperate posts to prevent chaos and enjoy all the acitivties without rushing. These rewards are also even BETTER than what we received for saving Stair City from the Vines in Chapter I! Have you already pre-designed them, Iron, or how do you think treasures and quest-rewards up?

Humm, the TM Library could be a unique opportunity to teach my Alola Vulpix Aurora Veil (it's TM70 in Gen.7) and make it an insanely bulky kitsune - now try to get through 6*Vitality and -1 Damage for all attacks while Hail is pestering you! Should I? I'm actually already soft-decided on three other moves for my Pokemon, but now I'm pondering...

Do we want to explore the run down shack and the Apricorn bushes first, though?  Or head to the library now?

Aurora Veil is a Gen 7 move, though (and thus not in the 1.1.0 rulebook), which would definitely need Iron's approval.

I'm typing on a post in the background, you'll see.

I know it'll need GM's approval - but while this move would be cool for sure, the thought of it came after I've already found 3 other moves I'd enjoy for my Pokemon, so it's not top-priority... But given that for Tandormon the WHOLE TM-list is available, I'd assume it's the same for an Alolamon; but just out of curiosity: Would TM70 Aurora Veil be in the Library to your discretion, Iron, or not yet?

In A-Vulpix/Ninetales' defense, Aurora Veil is actually a ? move for it in the 1.2 rulebook.  But that also depends on how little Iron wants to mess with stuff introduced in Gen 7.

I'm also debating what I should teach some of my pokemon...most of it would be for coverage or utility.  Thinking that Juliet and Kirlia/Gallade would be the main candidates...just have to decide which coverage/utility moves they're going to get... (as tempting as OHKO cheesing is, I think I'll be getting my fill of it in the Celadon Campaign as it is)

I usually design the rewards based on how I want the story to progress and how strong I think the characters should be. The theme of the Library is 'more than human' and 'info required to forge a kingdom,' so these are based on that and on what might be in a Library.

I don't want to mess with Gen VII moves.

That answers everything, thank you!~

I feel you've done a rather fine job on visualizing these theme. And I'm still amazed that such a place is located down deep the earth and beneath the central mountain of the region - good hideout.

Feel free to!

Simple, yet clever enough to work out well most the time. Nice design philosophy!

However, I don't really understand why you have a seeming abhorrence towards the 7th Generation, or at least the Moves changes/new Moves. You need only look at the Moves section of the latest Corebook to figure out what they do and not change anything else, go to bulbapedia to find out the proper Learnset/TM list for the Pokémon, and then simply follow everything else for the old Corebook you choose to use. Heck, you've made up a couple of Pokémon wholesale, created odd Delta varients, and introduced several Tandor Pokémon, so I don't quite follow why you don't want anything to do with Gen 7 on the most part. If you just hate that Gen I could understand, but otherwise....

Maybe to avoid jumping between both version of the Corebook? I don't know, I realized I usually refer to the version without Pokemon from Alola ( = the one in black and white) only as well when needing/wanting to look up things.

I use the updated version for looking up stuff and bulbapedia's Gen 6 entries on Pokémon, since together they are practically the same as the old corebook with all the homebrew stuff we've done to make it easier/more fun to play online. Jumping between them isn't all too hard, so I don't think cross refrencing two corebooks would be any different...

Of course it's not hard to do jump and do cross-refering, I simply do not really want to, I'm actually not too sure why. Maybe because it just feels like double-work for me, and partially because such actions are not really my taste either. ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌ Alolan Vulpix lives off selfmade notes made by comparing the movesets on Bulbapedia as well just as GM told me to do to determine the moves and the costs instead of simply using the one in the updated Corebook, and I actually don't mind.
