[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(03-06-2019, 11:10 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Question Iron: Would destroying a Pokemon's Pokeball unregister them from it? And what would be the consequences thereof of doing that? Terra should know this, given he's a seasoned explorer and trainer, so its an issue he should have come across at some point in his past adventures.

Fun Fact: There was one moment in the anime where something like this happened: the episode where Jessie released her Dustox since she thought the moth would be happier living in the wild with a bunch of other wild Dustox (plus a Shiny one that another trainer was releasing for the same reason)

The problem: Dustox didn't want to leave Jessie's side

Jessie's solution: crush Dustox's pokeball underfoot to show Dustox exactly how serious she was about letting Dustox go (which worked, btw)

Anime might operate on different rules, though, for obvious reasons.

You would indeed know. The Pokemon would remain registered, and a League authority could reassign them to a new Ball.

The biggest problem with controlling a foreign Pokeball is you can't send it to the PC properly.

Crushing the Pokeball would bypass the automatic 6 Pokemon limit, though. It would no longer be able to detect that you have 7 Pokeballs in your presence.

Hmmmm...guess that means Nathan has to stash Porygon somewhere...

Guess Terra's not going to break Mr. Mime's Conditional Ball himself after all, if it wouldn't really free them from those morally miresome individuals.

Since Mr. Mime is in 'control' of his Ball, I don't need to send any of Terra's Pokemon back to his PC to make room for them, or Angela for that matter, I hope. If not, well.....I might smash their Ball anyway so I can keep a full party of my choice.

Just so I don't clog the Game Thread with pointless messages from my chara, just assume he respond in a positive/affirmative manner to all of Nathan's points/requests in a simple manner. That's all!

For flow's shake, can Nathan's message happen after Terra sent his own message back to them? I'd think it fit better IMO, and it save me some writing on my part without costing you anything, Dragonstrike.

Sure.  Makes sense.

@Spiritmon, I feel some stuff is getting misinterpreted here.  Nathan's not suggesting we abandon anyone.  He's just trying to account for the possibility that if there isn't a way back from wherever Shiva's gone, the group will have basically been forced to split up to make sure Shiva's not in any danger (or potentially rescue her if she is).

In short, it's intended to be a practical response.  Can we rally afford to risk all of/most of the party on the assumption that there'll be a way to teleport back if we end up wherever Shiva is?

Oy, @Spiritmon , no need to be so harsh in game. Nathan has a VERY good reason to be concerned about Oscar/Keni more than Shiva (One's family/technical and literally an old friend, he doesn't want to lose more family/friend, and Shiva is a competent trainer in her own right), and Heart should naturally know and understand why he is prioritizing them over her, given he should be equally concerned by the kidnapping of civilians. Especially since the longer they dwaddle in the base, the more likely things will go wrong and the more time the comet has to get here and FUBAR things, so all the more reason to commit to the rescue ops and let Shiva fend for herself. OOC , Iron would probably spell it out if Phantom ended up deading her chara or worse, and they (Phantom) don't seem too ruffled by things, so whatever happened is not THAT bad.

So.....don't lash out at Nathan, or at least temper their reaction to be less antagonistic . Have them want to search for Shiva, while Nathan and/or Spira continue trying to find/free the prisoners.

EDIT: Also, what Dragonstrike said too. He brings up another good point: charging into a situation blinding will just render Heart Out of Action/In Another Dimension (So to speak) like Shiva, which means you don't get to do anything else for the time being until Iron says you can. Curiosity got Shiva, so do you really want to make that a count?
