Gym Leader Howl vs Nathan Round 1
Fake Out 1

This move cannot harm Bulbasaur without a crit, but he flinches 1.
"He's as hard as he looks!"
Flash 2
(2)(2)(1)(4)(6)(4) (6)(6)
Persian is blinded! -3 accuracy. The cat yowls! It seems personally offended that you would do this, and it loses much of its pedigreed calm.
Howl looks startled at both the HM move making an appearance and his cat's reaction.
The darkness is pretty much banished for a time, and the Sunstones glow brighter.
Screech 2
(5)(3)(6)
-2 Vit for Bulbasaur No effect on Clear Body. Howl takes a note.
Grass Pledge 3 - Howl blinks behind his shades.
(1)(3)(2)(4)(2)(3) (6)
Persian has 5* Vit and Fur Coat, but the Pledge avoids that nicely! (4)(4)(1) Persian takes 2 dmg 7/9hp -1 pain -1 dex -3 acc
A stunning -5 to hit, plus Persian uses his final action to rub his eyes daintily with a paw. Howl seems a little frustrated at his cat's need to heal itself, but he's wearing dark glasses so he doesn't realize just how bright that Flash was.
Power Gem 4
(5)(4)(1)(2)(3)(2)
(2)(5)(5)(4)(1) Persian takes 3 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain
Power Gem 5
(6)(1)(1)(5)(3) Barely a hit. The stoney energy twinkles through the shifting shadows and sizzles in Persian's fine fur.
(4)(3)(6)(6)(3) Persian takes 3 dmg. 1/9hp -3 pain.
Ray sits on his side of the battlefield with a calm but slightly smug look on his face. He knows how strong he is, and he isn't afraid to show it! This Round of battle was his to control!
Nathan also takes note of these happenings. "I see. Definitely caught off guard by Ray's capabilities...hehe. Told ya I wasn't holding back! Figured I'd brighten things up a little in here while I was around! So, what's your plan?"
Nathan knows what his is! He's going to save Ray for later! He doesn't expect that Persian to stay in by a long shot (if they do, they're working with a total -7 accuracy penalty). " Gallade, buddy, you're up next! Let's see if we can keep this momentum going!"
Gallade hands the Clamperl Pearl to Nathan (not a very useful hold item in a Dark type Gym, after all), then takes his spot on the battlefield after Ray is recalled. Whatever Howl's going to throw at him, he's ready! He has no fear of the Dark!

- Nathan can't help but mentally facepalm when Shiva momentarily forgets who Bo is. She at least remembered, though, so...yay, I guess?
- ...and one of Shiva's statements is once again something incredibly bittersweet for Nathan to hear. He refrains from commenting at length on it again, but...yeah. It's still a sore point.
- Nathan doesn't have much more to say to Mallorn, really. He does have one thing to say to Shiva, and it's that he'd like to use the FLASH HM later that day. And also that they should probably let everyone else use it later today, too. The sooner they teach the move to the group's pokemon, the better in Nathan's opinion.
(Hey, not everyone can remember the champion of a region by heart, you see...? :C Especially if Shiva only heard of Bo like, once or twice, and is a born Unovian = foreign to Creshire.)
Shiva perks up and shifts her attention to Nathan as he speaks up to her, his words arise a mild and gentle tone of voice; but given how clearly she also speaks, it's obvious that it's also a no-nonsense-tone. "Well... That's your opinion and by far a good and reasonable one, but I've got my own one. Got plans for the the evening and night already. Unfortunately no time to call everyone to gather, and I, ehm, don't wish to interrupt them in their business... I'd like to enjoy this day here in Elanor. You've got to wait like the others of the group until tomorrow morning when we'll come together anyway and we'll have access to Bill's PC, Nathan, but rest assured that I'll let them know that we can and perhaps should head towards and down the Ruins tomorrow. Alright? I'm sorry but...." She hesitates a bit, looks for words, but then just shakes her head lightly. "Well, we'll see one another, have a good night's sleep if we don't happen to see one another until then!~ Come on, Cottonee, Ophelia, Helios, we'll go grab something for lunch and then pay the grove a visit. ^_^"
Waving to her Pokemon to come to her, Shiva then makes haste to carry on, a very very cautionous Cottonee ( 'Ayeee, that's a powerful move sweet Master introduced me to!! Gotta take care to not blind her or companions'), a noble and proud Alakazam and a tiny and gentle fae unicorn following her. She knows the young historian won't be too happy by this, but this time he won't have it his way; Shiva is prioritizing her own desires this time. This takes her a good amount of courage.
(I apologize, but I really don't want to interrupt things for a meeting just for a mass-learning of Flash, I wish to have my fun with the things I wanted Shiva to do this in-game-day.)

Awww!~ Shiva greets the trio of tiny orchid mantis' with a respectful bow and kind smile, subliminally also showing that she nor her Pokemon mean any harm to this place. Quite the opposite actually.
She takes a seat in the grass to pass the waiting time until Primal Lurantis shows Themselves and waves her unicorn and flower fairy to her side. With an obvious hint of eagerness and delight she speaks up to them, waving hand gestures to the surrounding emphasize her words: "This, Ophelia, is the place you pointed me to, the ideal habitat you wanted to let me know of. I call it 'The Glorious Grove', it's a very extraordinaire and natural place - enjoy it. You too, Fuchisa, I hope this location suits your taste well enough." .... " Haha, yes, of course you can explore a bit yourselves, I'll stay here for a bit. But please wait until its leader has welcomed us and given permission, will you? I wish for you all..... to meet one another."
As soon as noble Lurantis has arrived, Shiva rises from her seat and gives Them a low and deep bow. "I greet thee, noble guardian and protector of this miraculous place. Do you remember me? Here I've been yesterday evening, a call I've followed to find myself here in the glory and beauty of this place." She rises from her bow to face the mighty orchid mantis. "Happy news I bring! Behold, as the Eggs given to me by Legendary Arcanine have hatched this morning. May I introduce the young ones to you? Ophelia, Fuchisa, please pay your tribute to the one keeping this grove as glorious as it is."
Shiva will wait until the hatchlings have introduced and familiarized themselves a bit with Primal Lurantis and how they generally react to this place before she's got something important she'd like to ask Lurantis.

...yeah, Nathan's not happy about about that. He's rather frustrated. He's only trying to save some time and trying to look out for everyone's best interests, not just his own, and Shiva's apparently doing the opposite. Again.
Nathan doesn't have anything to say to Shiva in response, though. He's fairly certain she wouldn't listen to him anyways...

(It does interrupt things for me as I'd like to concentrate on things that are very important for my chara. Can we now please stop discussing this issue? It won't lead us anywhere.)

Lurantis wasn't planning to come, but when she learned you had something important to ask, she swings down from the trees and checks out your hatchlings. "It is good that you keep your pledges. What did you need to ask, mortal?"

Drain Punch x5
Acc: 14 - 5/6/7/8/9 = 9/8/7/6/5
Dmg: 3 + 5 + STAB + SE = 9 D6 base + 1 damage
Eff: Half HP drain
Woe be this gym leader if he uses a Dark move against this partial Psychic type!
If Drain Punch isn't effective for some reason, Draining Kiss is the backup plan since it's also Super Effective.

Gym Leader Howl vs Nathan Round 2
Drain Punch 1
(4)(6)(1)(2)(3)(1) (4)(2)(3)
(6)(6)(3)(4)(2) Absol takes 6 dmg right off the bat. 2/8hp -2 pain. That attack was more effective than it should have been! It moves rapidly in to retaliate, knowing Dark moves are a risk, but hoping for that crit. This thing is almost as fast as Calam, and its eyes glitter with light.
"Absol is my special Ghost-killer! He's completely immune to their powers."
Slash 1
(2)(2)(4)(4)(2)(6) (6) Critical hit.
6* Str + 3 power + 2 crit + 1 STAB -4 vit = 8d6
(4)(3)(2)(1)(1)(2) (4)(5) Gallade takes just 2 dmg ^_^
Drain Punch 2
(3)(1)(4)(4)(1)(3) (3)
Absol faints.
"I like you, Nathan. You don't hold back. Once, such a one sided loss might have embarrassed me. In my later years, I'm more interested in just raising the best Pokemon that I can."
"I do have one more Pokemon that might be capable of giving you a challenge. It's interesting and rare, I'll give you that hint."
