(It's almost like there's a trend here on these forums when it comes to Arbok, isn't it?)

Roughneck Jeremy Round 2

Psyshock 1
(4)(3)(3)(4)(5)(5)(5)(3)(2)(2) Payback time!  Take that, Poison types!  Critical Hit!
(4)(3)(3)(2)(2)(4)(4)(3) Golbat takes 4 damage and is knocked clear out of the sky as he faints.

Core turns up the volume of the music he's listening to!

Metal Sound 1
(4)(5)(4)(1)(6)(1)(3)(6)(5) 5 successes, cha-ching!  That got Arbok's attention for sure!
-2 Sp. Defense for Arbok!

L: (1)
D: (5)(6)(5)

Arbok hisses and lashes out angrily at core with his teeth instead of spitting poison at the fae bunny like he was ordered to!

Fire Fang 1
3 + 3 + 3 - 1 - 2 = 6
(1)(1)(3)(4)(1)(3) Core just lazily sidesteps and avoids the move entirely, not paying much attention to the battle after that display.

It's at this point in the Round that Kee can withdraw Octavia from the battle.  And she is more than happy to retreat before that snake bites her.

That snake IS still being a nuisance and a distraction, so Core guesses he can do something to get the snake to quiet down a little...

Psychic 2
(3)(1)(3)(5)(2)(3)
Arbok also has 3 Defense and Sp. Defense
(6)(6)(2)(6)(5)(1)(5) Arbok takes 6 damage! 8/14 HP -1 Pain
(-) Doesn't matter thanks to Metal Sound.

The snake writhes in pain, then decides...

L: (4)
D: (2)(2)(3)

Yup, that'll somehow do it.  This snake is following orders now, and is more than happy to comply with them after the lashing it's received at the hands of this Psychic type!

Lethal Crunch 2
9 - 4 - 1 = 4 D6
(4)(5)(2)(1) 2 successes
Flamethrower Clash 3: (5)(4)(4) 3 successes.  Core doesn't want to get munched, so he blasts that snake's mouth with fire to keep it from hurting him too badly!  Clashes don't completely prevent the damage from being dealt, however.
3 Str + 3 Pow - 3 Def = 1 D6 minimum + 1 damage
(4) Core takes 2 Lethal damage! 5/5 HP (2 Lethal) -1 Pain
(5) No Defense drop.

Due to the nature of the Clash (primarily because it's impeding a physical hit), I'll roll some bonus damage.  I won't add Flamethrower's Power to the damage pool, but everything else will still apply.
4 Spe + 3 Pow - 1* Sp Def = 3 D6
(6)(2)(1) Arbok takes 1 more damage. 7/14 HP -2 Pain
(5) No Lethal Burns today.

(3)
(3)(4)(1)

Arbok, having had enough of this fight, though, decides that he doesn't want anything more to do with it and backs away from the fight, if only to save his own skin!

And that's the end of Round 2!

It's at this point that Officer Jenny arrives with her Houndoom.  "What is going on here?"  She looks at both the Roughneck and the...colorfully dressed trainer in front of her.  Her gaze demands answers.

Kee gets the first opportunity to speak, as Roughneck Jeremy is a little too dumbfounded by this development to say anything right away.

Alright, then Ran buy 7 Units of Gourmet Food for his Pokemon! Zorn and Stymph gets hearty meat flavored GF (As I believe Skarmory are clearly birds of prey, but correct me if I am wrong), Brigid gets GF that has a smoky/charred flavor, Beethoven gets tropical fruit flavors, and Puck gets a rich and sweet flavor GF. His 'mystery Pokemon' will get a flavored GF that matches their preferences, which will be save for them for later.

Diam's food, on the other hand, he'll try to get it by visiting jewelry stores, and asking if he could buy their Diamond chips/fragments that are removed during the cutting/fitting process, getting enough that would constitute as a Unit equivilant to 1 Unit of Gourmet Food. Should be a much cheaper purchase than trying to buy big diamond, and the wee anklebitter wouldn't care too much the state her meal was in, so long as it was tasty, crunchy gemstones, we he he!

He'd treat his main team of 6 to their celebratory meals at the Pokemon Center while waiting for his partners to return, either feeding them in the lobby or private room (If the Nurse disapproves). What would be their reactions to their special treats (Especially Zorn's)?

I'm also wondering if feeding diamonds and other precious gemstone to Diam would give her some sort of bonus? Would make a little sense, since they are supernatural gemstone eaters, but if not, okay!

Yeah, Skarmory are birds of prey.

Hmmmm, just the scraps, huh?  Let's see how much they have...

(6)

Okay, yeah, the store that Randolph visits actually has quite a few, as they just finished cutting the diamonds they'd ordered down to size for their jewelry!  Quite frankly, they're really confused about why someone would only want the scraps, but they'll happily give 'em to ya for $100 per unit equivalent of gourmet food.  They currently have 6 units worth of scraps that you could purchase.

Feeding Diam Diamonds/Diamond Dust won't have any special effects, really.  It just makes her really happy Smile If a gemstone had an innate effect, however, something might happen.  What exactly would happen, Randolph doesn't know as of right now, and it would likely vary as well.

------------------------------------------------

As for the rest of Ran's main party of 6 and how they react to the meal...

Stymph's eagerly digging into her food with gusto, completely unladylike.

Beethoven's a bit more neat with his meal, but he can't help but glance up at Stymph every once in awhile.  He doesn't want to disturb her, though.  Nobody disturbs Stymph while she's eating if they know what's good for them.

Brigid's just happily munching away as well, content with her lot in life right now.

Puck's sat down off to the side and is noisily munching away.  His back/massive maw is turned towards Zorn, just in case.

Zorn, however...well, he's kinda just...quietly sitting off to the side right now.  He's not even eating currently.  He's just...quietly sitting there.  Which is...quite odd behavior coming from him, to say the least.

Ran would buy ALL 6 Units of the Diamond Scraps then, as a $100 Poke for 6 of his gemlin's favorite meal is a STEAL for him! At their confusion, he'd politely explain he has a Sableye whose's favorite food is diamonds after he purchased all the unit from them (As he doesn't want them to jack up the price in response to his reveal), before he'd look for around the shop for a sliver or platinum necklace with a blue alexandrite pendant, a bangle with an almandine set into, and any impressive whole gemstones they may have on display for sale. He would want to buy them as souvenirs for his friends back in Canalave City, with the bangle going to Byron, the gemstone going to Roark, and the pendant going to a friend of his. If the bangle could be engraved with the designs of Byron's favorite Pokemon, and all the presents could be shipped to them ASAP, that would be nice too!

He'd also include a message with the gifts, if possible. They'd be written as follows, to the following people:

Byron: Was buying some diamond scrap for my little fiend, spotted this piece, and decided that it look good on ya or in your collection! Think of it another gift, for all you've done for me. Don't think I've gone sappy on ya now, though! - Randolph Schmidt 'Wolfe'

Roark: Spotted this gemstone while shopping around for Diam, and thought you'd like it. Do with it whatever ya like, and never say I don't think about ya! - Randolph Schmidt

Mystery Person: Got this for you, since I thought it look pretty on ya.  You've done a lot for me and somehow managed to put up with my attitude, so I think you deserve something nice like it. Take care, and don't stress yourself out reselving those book or doing ya research, lass. Again. - Ran

---

Despite his natural/default state of being stern and/or grumpy, the bristly blacksmith can't help but smile as all his partners enjoyed their meal, nodding in satisfaction as he thought they deserved such special treats.

All except Zorn, who was just.....moping and staring at the wall/floor. That caused Ran's smile to vanish and quirk an eyebrow at his subterranean drake.

'Why is the big o' brute acting like that, after they pretty much secured everyone victory against Miss Jackie Frost?  This ain't like him at all. Hmm.....better go check out what's up with him. If something is bothering Zorn this much to affect his behavior, I can't let it go on festering quietly inside him. Even if he's a onrey son of a bitch, I prefer him like that than.....this."

Taking a deep breath and fortifying himself, he walked over to the not so mean right now Dragon and patted them on the shoulder and grunting at them with mild concern.

"Zorn, what's crawled under ya scales and is bugging you so much? Thought you'd be celebrating ya conquest over Candice's Icy beasts, not just......sitting around like a Hard Stone."

Alright, let's work out some costs for these items, then...feel free to pick your price depending on the overall quality of the item you'd like to get.

- Almandine Bangle: $500-1000, depending on how nice you'd like it to be.  They'll do custom engravings for $200 extra (though it will take them a little time to do the work as well.  They'd have that done after Encounter 1 tomorrow).

- Gemstone: $300-$1500, depending on what kind of gemstone we're talking about here (quality is a factor as well as type).

- Blue Alexandrite Pendant: $1000-1500, again, depending on how nice you want it to be.  Easily the most expensive of the three items because so much more work goes into making them.

And that's just the stuff that's 'affordable'.  This place has some REALLY nice jewelry if you're willing to shell out loads of cash for it.

Thanks to the wonders of the modern PC system, you can just send the items directly to the PCs of the trainers in question at no cost once you have the items, along with any messages you'd like to attach to it.

Randolph also sees a section of the store with rare, limited stock.  A sign labels the display case with bold, golden text.

Type Gems from the Unova Region
$400 Each
Limited Stock
See Sales Associate to Purchase

In the case is 18 different colored gemstones, one for every individual type.  The rainbow of bright and dark colors is quite pretty.

----------------------------------------------

Zorn looks at Randolph, back at his food...

Shrugs.

Insight + Contest + Empathy: (4)(5)(6) *whistles*  Okay then...

The Dragon seems to be...disappointed?  It's hard for Randolph to tell exactly what's bugging Zorn, but if the trainer had to guess, it's definitely something to do with the battle earlier.

Ran's a fairly frugal man, but he ain't a cheapskate when it comes to his friends! He'll pay $1200, $1500, and $1500 for Byron's, Roarck, and Mystery Person's gifts, respectively, because they DESERVE as quality product he can reasonably afford! I'll let you determine what Gemstone sends to Roark (As Ran would know what they like and which gemstones he doesn't already have), and he'll send that and Mystery Person's gift to their PCs ASAP with the messages I specified! Byron's will have to wait until later, but it should be worth it!

As for the Type Gems, he'd be fairly interested in them (As he's heard rumors about how good they can be), and would go over to the Sales Associate and asked if he could buy 3 Dark Gems, 2 Ghost, Normal, and Fire Gems, and 1 Fairy and Steel, for a total of $3200 Poke. 1 of the Dark Gems is going to be offered to Diam to 'try out' (Read: On nom nom nom) to see what happens after the purchase, as he's curious what a Type Gem would do for her.

(Note: He'll have her 'Try Out' the gem well far away and outside the jewelry store, as if he lets her out in there she's going to cause problems, one way or another! Unless a Sableye's bite marks on gemstones increases their value in this universe, like it did in Iron's, but even then it be terribly rude to let THAT happen, so he won't.)

Finally, as he purchases the Type Gems, a thought suddenly strikes him: 'Wait a minute......Dragons love wealth and treasure. Especially gold and gems. Hmm....maybe Zorn would appreciate a gift from here. Deserve one for helping me win our match, at the very least....'

With that fancy crossing his mind, he asks the Sales Associate if he could also buy a Dragon Gem and have it set in a 'cool/tough' looking gold necklace. If that's feasible, it would be a fitting present for the Mean Dragon, one that he could easily carry around without worrying about where he's going to hold/horde it. How nice, convenient, and thoughtful of Ran!

---

Though he was the last person someone would call sociable or the most understanding of others, even he could tell a smidgen of what's bothering Zorn, which just manages to confuse him.

".....I'm going to take a wild stab, and guess you're down in the Muk dumps 'cause you found your tussles against Candice frosty 'Mons to be wanting? *Shakes head* If that be the case, can ya tell me why? Frankly, you did plum excellent against them, and helped us all earn a big fact victory against Miss Jackie Frost, so I don't figure what's bothering you about ya performance....."

In an effort to better understand Zorn (and others in general), Ran Insight increased by 1 for 30 XP, giving him 4 Insight! Now his more of a wise guy than ever!

Dumb snake. As Officer Jenny eventually arrives though, Kee switches his attention to her, packs away the headphones and performs a semi-playful salute to her. "Be greeted, officier!~ Your arrival shall end this pathetic situation for good!!" He also proceeds to scratch and stroke Octavia all to calm her down, as at the sight of that Houndoom!! she cuddled up closer into her caretaker's shoulder, lowered her ears and protectively held her ribbons in front of her; as in contrary to poison, she has nothing to efficiently defend herself from fire. They'll just burn up her scattered fairy dust in the blink of an eye.

"Uh, for what's going on....." He just shrugs pretty indifferently. "I was thinking nothin' bad was enjoyin' a drink in that bar *points to it* when THIS guy *nods towards the Roughneck* held me for an easy target to mess with. I WASN'T causing any trouble, I just came to this town a few hours ago. Forced me into a Pokemon Fight as I wasn't responding to him the way he wanted me to. Must have underestimated my skill though because in the end, I showed him that I don't like being messed with. Bartender knows more... They called you. Not me."

In the meantime, Core has made it to walk up to his Master, and he immediately noticed that his musical dino isn't as lax and carefree like he usually was, he even whined a bit and, even MORE unusual, has lowered his music's volume. Kee does not hesitate and comes down to be on eye-level with him. "Come on, show me that arm of yours where that snake.... Ugh." He flinches at the sight of that nasty wound and picks his Paraudio up to carry 'em in his arms. "Oh, AND that guy let loose his disobediant Arbok at me and my own Pokemon - If I wouldn't have the means to defend myself, they could have been killed. Or that cobra could have attacked me." He shakes his head at SUCH a horrible imagination. "You've...maybe got something to patch up these bad wounds (cure the lethal damage), officer? The Pokemon's Center a few hundred meters away from here and I'm, well, not the fastest person."

She frowns when Kogeki wants to make it a Full Battle, though.  "Unfortunately, I don't have a full team of 6 pokemon with me at the moment.  I like to train a few select pokemon until they're tough as nails!  I don't bring others along just so there's no distractions.  The Exp. While Kogeki sends out...

Alexis looks surprised.  "...some kind of crab and fish pokemon?  Okay, wasn't expecting that..."

Aspido is snapping his claws in an intimidating way at Alexis's pokemon.  Particularly that Rapidash.  He's not paying the Luxio much mind.

Luxio, however, is snarling at Susano'o.

Initiatives
Aspido: (6) + 9 = 15
Susano'o: (3) + 11 = 14
Luxio: (3) + 10 = 13
Rapidash: (1) + 11 = 12

"Aspido! Rain Dance! Then Stone Edge on Rapidash! And Giga Drain on Luxio!"

"Susano'o! Light Screen, Reflect and Hidden Power on Luxio!"

Alexis Round 1

Rain Dance 1
(2)(3)(3)(5)(6)(1)(2)
It began to Rain!

Alexis looks doubly surprised at that development!  "...and the crab can summon Rain as well?  Shoot, Luxio, we need to take care of that fish, fast!"

Meanwhile, the 'fish' is doing decidedly non-fishy things.  Or to put it another way, things that are very fishy by another definition of the word.

L: (5)(3)(1)
D: (6)(3)(3)(2) Okay, Kogeki's orders are being followed for now!  (This pokemon still only has 3 Loyalty, Spirit.  Just to make that clear.  I haven't awarded that 4th point yet.)

Light Screen 1
(4)(5)(5)(4)(5)(1)(6)
*Ping!* A Light Screen protects Kogeki's side of the battlefield!

The female (as indicated by the sprite I linked) Luxio goes straight for the attack on the fishy fish!

Thunder Fang 1
4 Dex + 3 Fight + 3 Brawl - 1 - 2 = 7 D6
(5)(4)(1)(2)(6)(4)(5) And it is a merciless chomp.  Critical hit!
5* Str (+1 from Rivalry!) + 2 Pow + STAB - 3 Def + 2 Crit = 7 D6
(6)(1)(4)(3)(6)(3)(6) 'Susano'o' takes 4 damage! 4/8 HP -2 Pain
The Illusion shatters, revealing the fish pokemon was Nami the Dramsama all along!  Alexis is dumbfounded, not quite sure what kind of pokemon she's looking at!
F: (5)(5)
P: (2)(3)

Rapidash, meanwhile uses an extremely powerful (and non-Lethal) attack on Aspido!

Fire Blast 1
10 - 3 - 2 = 5 D6
(5)(1)(3)(5)(3)
4 Spe + 5 Pow + STAB - 3 Sp Def + SE - LS = 7 D6
(5)(3)(3)(3)(2)(4)(4) Aspido takes 3 damage, then eats his Sitrus Berry!
(4)(5)(1)

At the top of the Round, it's time for the pain train!

Stone Edge 2 (I'll assume it's non-Lethal for now)
9 - 2 - 4 = 3 D6
(5)(3)(4)
Alexis's pokemon all have 4 Defense and Sp. Defense
3 + 4 - 4 + SE = 3 D6 + 1
(4)(3)(3) Rapidash takes 2 damage! 7/9 HP -1 Pain

Nami, not wanting to get beat to a pulp, puts up more defenses!

Reflect 2
9 - 4 - 2 = 3 D6
(5)(2)(1)
*Shwing!* A Reflect protects Kogeki's side of the battlefield!

Round two of Alexis's assault!  Luxio charges at the now revealed Psychic type, fangs bared, as Rapidash lowers its horn at Aspido!

Crunch 2
(1)(2)(5)(5)(2)(1) A close hit, but still a hit!

Aspido, not wanting to end up like Nami, is more than happy to leech away at Luxio's HP!

Giga Drain 3
9 - 1 - 6 = 2 D6
(6)(1)
(5)(5)(3) Luxio takes 2 damage! 6/8 HP -1 Pain
Aspido recovers 1 HP! 12/15 HP -1 Pain

Luxio is waiting...

Rapidash tries another attack that's Super Effective against Grass!

Poison Jab 3

(5)(6)(5)
4 + 3 - 3 - R = 4 D6 - 1
(1)(2)(1)(2) Except it just bounces off of the Reflect.

Luxio ROARS to scare off this enemy that she can't hurt very effectively!

Roar 3
10 - 6 - 1 = 3
(1)(1)(1)
...except all that does is make the giant crab GLARE at her, causing her to back off in a nervous almost-panic.

Luxio and Rapidash still both have 1 more action for the Round!

Luxio tries to use her strongest attack!

Wild Charge 4
10 - 8 - 1 = 1
(6) It hits!
...but Aspido is immune to Electric type moves.  Alexis takes note of that.

Rapidash jumps and is now airborne! 4

"...well, you've certainly got some tricksy pokemon, don't ya?  It'll take more than tricks to best me, though!  I haven't spent endless hours at this Trainer School listening to incredibly dull lectures over and over for nothing!"

3 Rounds of Rain, Light Screen, and Reflect remain.

(1) Aspido's Harvest does not trigger this Round, I'm afraid.

Who is Kogeki sending out for Round 2?
